This document presents the design of a novel wideband circularly polarized antenna for UHF RFID reader applications. The antenna uses an air-substrate truncated patch structure to achieve circular polarization. It consists of a radiating patch, suspended microstrip feed line, and ground plane with no dielectric. Four feeding probes connected to a feed network are used to generate quadrature signals and excite circular polarization on the patch. Simulation results show the antenna achieves an impedance bandwidth of 840-960 MHz and axial ratio bandwidth where AR is less than 3. The antenna has a gain over 8 dB and is suitable for universal UHF RFID applications due to its wide bandwidth and simple design.
Different Multilayer Substrate Approaches to Improve Array Antenna Characteri...TELKOMNIKA JOURNAL
The aim of this paper is to investigate deeply in multi-layer substrate technique as a way of improving the characteristics of patch array antenna for electronic scanning radar application. The basic array antenna consists of 8 patches mounted on a FR-4 substrate and operating at 3 GHz frequency. The feeding technique is microstrip technology. This structure has some disadvantages as a poor gain and a narrow bandwidth. In fact, the obtained gain value does not exceed 7 dB which could be explained by the lossy nature of the FR4 substrate. On the other side, the narrow bandwidth is caused by the microstrip limitations. For this reason, the technique of multi-layer substrate is proposed in this paper. Many approaches are investigated and the distance between the layers is studied. The design and simulations of each approach are performed under the tool Advanced Design System of Keysight Company. A comparison between simulation results of all approaches including simulation results of the basic array antenna will be analyzed.
A TRIPLE RECTANGULAR-SLOTTED MICROSTRIP PATCH ANTENNA FOR WLAN & WIMAX APPLIC...jantjournal
ABSTRACT
A triple rectangular slotted microstrip patch antenna is designed and investigated with and without slot using CST Software. By using the triple rectangular shaped slot the designed antenna operates at 2.4GHz (ranging from 2.3704 GHz (Gigahertz) to 2.4391 GHz at -10dB return loss) for WLAN (Wireless Local Area Network) and 3.6GHz (ranging from 3.5643 GHz to 3.6548 GHz at -10dB return loss) for WiMAX (Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access) applications having a maximum return loss -28.5dB and -25.4dB respectively. For the design of this antenna we have chosen FR-4 (lossy) as substrate having permittivity 4.3. The designed antenna has appreciable values of gain and directivity at both the frequencies. The proposed antenna works on the principle of excitation of the slots at the operating frequencies. The antenna was designed keeping in mind the two major Wireless standards i.e., WLAN and WiMAX bands of frequencies. The proposed triple-rectangular slots are unique in terms of its construction and have appreciable results at the operating frequencies.

Waste disposal is becoming a cause of concern &alot of research is being carried out for removal of pollutants. Adsorption is viewed as one of the effective methods & new adsorbents having low cost, bio-degradability& effectiveness are being developed. Bark, leaves, seeds, drumsticks&shells can be synthesized into adsorbents.Present work addresses to the development of adsorbent from waste materials such as ‘Tectona grandis’ seeds. Thermal and boiling water treatment have been adopted in synthesis of three types of adsorbents namely ‘Thermally treated whole seed’, ‘Thermally treated particulateseed’ & ‘Raw boiled whole seed’. In preliminary investigation ‘Raw boiled whole seed’ is found to be effective in 12% adsorption of Victoria blue from synthetically prepared aqueous solution. Similarly these adsorbents are useful in removal of Cr(VI) from aqueous solution to the extent of 12 to 52 % depending upon the type of adsorbent and initial feed solution. ‘Thermally treated particulate seed’ is observed to be the best amongst three adsorbents synthesized. It can concluded that there is need to tap the potential in adsorbentssynthesized from ‘Tectona grandis seed’ by conducting more experiments involving different types of adsorbents.
A primary screening of antitumor substances was carried out among strains of actinomycetes isolated from the samples of natural substrates of arid zones in the Ile-Balkhash region. Antitumor properties of actinomycetes against Staphylococcus aureus209Р(S. aureus 209P) and its mutants UF-2 and UF-3 were studied using the agar block technique. The diameter of growth inhibition zone was measured after incubation of the test microorganisms at a temperature of 37 °C for 24 hours. 16 strains of actinomycetes (10,2%) from sandy soils and from the plant rhizosphere of the Kapshagai area virtually having no effect or only slightly affecting the growth of wild-type culture.22 strains of actinomycetes (14,0%) from takyrs and takyr-like soils of the Balkhash area had an activity against staphylococcal mutants two or more times higher than against the stock staphylococcal strain. This strains may be the potential producers of antitumor antibiotics. It was established that 24.2% of the strains of actinomycetes may be potential producers of antitumor antibiotics.

AC susceptibility (ac= ’+ i‖) and X ray diffraction (XRD) are very useful for characterizing high Tc superconductors. We report here on the preparation, X-ray diffraction with Rietveld refinement, resistivity , AC magnetic susceptibility measurements and effect of heat treatments in (Y1-xNdx)SrBaCu3O6+z. Each sample was subject to two types of heat treatment: oxygen annealing [O] and argon annealing followed by oxygen annealing [AO]. For each x, the [AO] heat treatment increases the orthorhombicity ε = (b-a)/(b+a) (for 0≤x<1),>0.2), the distance d[Cu(1)-(Sr/Ba)] (for x<0.25)>0.25; increase in cationic and chain oxygen ordering; psh and in-phase purity for the [AO] samples may account for the observed data.

Control of Suddenly Expanded Flow at Low Supersonic Mach NumbersIJERA Editor
In the present study the experiments were conducted to control the base pressure from a convergent-divergent
nozzle at low supersonic Mach numbers to assess the effectiveness of active control mechanism in the form of
micro jets at different expansion level. The parameters considered in the present study are the diameter ratio,
length to diameter ratio (L/D), Nozzle Pressure Ratio (NPR), and the Mach number. The diameter ratio selected
for the present study are 1.6, 1.8, 2.2, and 2.5. Experiments were conducted for nozzle pressure ratio (NPR)
from 3 to 11. The L/D ratio of the enlarged duct was varied from 10 to 1, and results are presented for L/D 4, 3,
2, and 1. The Mach numbers of the present studies are 1.1, 1.2, 1.4, and 1.5. The results show that the Micro jets
are very effective and are able to raise the base pressure value to a considerable level under the influence of
favorable pressure gradient except at lower NPR 3. At NPRs 5 and 7 for some cases the trends differ due to the
level of expansion, nature of waves present in the base region, relief available to the flow, L/D ratio of the
enlarged duct and the Mach numbers. It is seen that most of the cases exhibit similar behavior for the L/Ds in
the range 4 and 3, which means; that the back pressure has not adversely influenced the flow field in the base
region as well as in the duct. The minimum duct length required for the flow to be attached is L/D = 2, even
though in some cases flow is attached with duct wall. With this it can be stated that the micro jets can be an
alternative for the for base pressure control.
Settlement prediction research on the gravel pile in soft soil subgradeIJERA Editor
Settlement prediction methods of soft subgrade based on the soil mechanical theories and mathematical statistics emerges in endlessly, but together with its limitations; the single theoretical calculation method maybe sometimes good, sometimes bad without the capacity to consider the change of the load; however the study of the theory of the combined forecast method is far from perfect. Under this situation, in view of the engineering practice in soft soil subgrade deformation law research in order to put forward a reasonable settlement prediction method, which is a problem urgently to be solved at present. Relying on gravel pile in soft soil subgrade construction in the highway K9+420-K9+550 section, and analyzing the data measured according to the soft soil foundation in the loading and constant loading period, taking classification of embankment load into account, and based on the related parameters of soil at the same time using the numerical analysis of saturated soft soil subgrade deformation-seepage coupling calculation, comparing the measured data with the finite element results and checking the fit, based on detailed sedimentation data by using curve-fitting method for calculating ultimate settlement value and compared with the finite element method settlement value for several years under broaden embankment. The two values differ by 1.5cm, which is in a controllable range for soft soil. Then thus the results are true and reliable in order to have implications for similar projects.
Windows used in FIR Filters optimized for Far-side Stop band Attenuation (FSA...IJERA Editor
It has been proposed that the Exponential window provides better side-lobe roll-off ratio than Kaiser window
which is very useful for some applications such as beam forming, filter design, and speech processing. In this
paper the second application i.e. design of digital nonrecursive Finite Impulse Response (FIR) filter by using
Exponential window is proposed. The far-end stopband attenuation is most significant parameter when the
signal to be filtered has great concentration of spectral energy. The filter should be designed in such a way so
that it can provide better far-end stopband attenuation (amplitude of last ripple in stopband). Digital FIR filter
designed by Kaiser window has a better far-end stopband attenuation than filter designed by the other previously
well known adjustable windows such as Dolph-Chebyshev and aramaki, which are special cases of
Ultraspherical windows, but obtaining a digital filter which performs higher far-end stopband attenuation than
Kaiser window will be useful. In this paper, the design of nonrecursive digital FIR filter has been proposed by
using Exponential window. It provides better far-end stopband attenuation than filter designed by well known
Kaiser window, which is the advantage of filter designed by Exponential window. The proposed schemes were
simulated on commercially available software and the results show the close agreement with proposed theory.
Fe Analysis of Effect of Tyre Overload and Inflation Pressure on Rolling Loss...IJERA Editor
Rolling loss or rolling resistance is an ever important property for the tyre and automotive industries because of its
practical implication. Fuel consumption and tyre rolling loss in all types of automobiles have become increasingly
important because of adverse environmental effects (air pollution and global warming) and economic costs (high
petroleum price).
In this thesis, the effect of rolling resistance and overload on fuel consumption of automobile car tyres is discussed.
The investigations are made on two tyre models of automobile cars Skoda Rapid and Ford Classic. Theoretical
calculations are also done to determine the rolling resistance due to inflation pressure. The default weight is
considered for 5 persons and also the tyre overload is considered by taking 6 and 7 people’s weight.

Pacemaker design has evolved very rapidly over the last several years. There has been a great deal of work in enhancing the programmability of pacemakers, to enable them to be programmed to work with different selected operating parameters, and indeed to work in different modes. In Taiwan, about 70%of cardiac pacemakerpatients are paced only from the ventricle with some pacing parameter programmability. This paper goal is to design a cardiac pacemaker with various NBG modes. A state machine approach has been followed to achieve the desired purpose. The pacemaker system is divide into three main sections i.e. controlling unit, sensing unit and pulse generator. In this paper we mainly concentrate on controlling unit and pulse generator. It has been developed using VHDL coding and implemented in hardware using FPGA. In a simple pacemaker process i.e. single chamber or dual chamber pacemaker, first an input signal or an event is detected in heart through leads. When the input signal is detected a timer generates a delay for approximately 0.8 sec. It is the time between two consecutive heartbeats, thus giving us 72 heartbeats per minute. Once the generated delay expires, sensing unit again start detecting a new event. If any event is detected we repeat the process of detection and waiting. If no event is detected we need to provide an electrical pulse to the heart and then repeat the whole process of detection and waiting. The code has been optimized and modified for different pacemaker modes.

Proper narrowband antenna design for wearable devices in the biomedical application is a significant field of research interest. In this work, defected ground structure-based microstrip patch antenna has been proposed that can work for narrowband applications. The proposed antenna works exactly for a single channel of ISM band. The resonant frequency of the antenna is 2.45 GHz with a return loss of around -30 dB. The -10dB impedance bandwidth of the antenna is 20 MHz (2.442-2.462 GHz), which is the bandwidth of channel 9 in ISM band. The antenna has achieved a high gain of 7.04 dBi with an increase of 17.63% antenna efficiency in terms of realized gain by using defected ground structure. Hierarchical Digital Twin of a Naval Power SystemKerry Sado
A hierarchical digital twin of a Naval DC power system has been developed and experimentally verified. Similar to other state-of-the-art digital twins, this technology creates a digital replica of the physical system executed in real-time or faster, which can modify hardware controls. However, its advantage stems from distributing computational efforts by utilizing a hierarchical structure composed of lower-level digital twin blocks and a higher-level system digital twin. Each digital twin block is associated with a physical subsystem of the hardware and communicates with a singular system digital twin, which creates a system-level response. By extracting information from each level of the hierarchy, power system controls of the hardware were reconfigured autonomously. This hierarchical digital twin development offers several advantages over other digital twins, particularly in the field of naval power systems. The hierarchical structure allows for greater computational efficiency and scalability while the ability to autonomously reconfigure hardware controls offers increased flexibility and responsiveness. The hierarchical decomposition and models utilized were well aligned with the physical twin, as indicated by the maximum deviations between the developed digital twin hierarchy and the hardware.

Abstract
This paper presents A Novel Wideband Circularly Polarized Antenna for Worldwide UHF Band RFID Reader
Applications with simple, compact structure. An air-substrate truncated patch antenna is used to achieve the
circularly polarized characteristic. The impedance and AR bandwidth of proposed antenna are 840-960 MHz
(VSWR less than 1.5) and (AR less than 3), respectively. Proposed antenna has a good radiation performance
with gain more than 8 dB. And it is a good choice for UHF RFID applications.

I. INTRODUCTION
A considerable amount of research towards
improving existing RFID systems and incorporating
new ones into different applications, where at the
moment the cost of implementation is a limiting
factor, is currently taking place. Antennas for RFID,
known as reader and tag antennas, play an important
role in the performance of these systems since the
key features of locating, identifying, and extracting
information from an object rely on their design and
performance; consequently, the whole system
effectiveness is greatly determine by them. It is for
this reason that, among the research in this area,
antennas receive special attention always with the
aim of improving one or several parameters such as
the impedance matching, gain, axial ratio,
polarization and, definitely, reducing their size and
cost.
Microstrip patch antennas usually have a
dielectric between the patch itself and the ground
plane, which reduces the efficiency of the antenna.
Using a dielectric with low permittivity and low loss
tangent is one way of improving the efficiency of the
antenna and widening the bandwidth. Generally foam
is used as dielectric substrate with the lowest
dielectric constant for patch antennas. Foam has a
dielectric constant of 1.03 and very low dielectric
loss factors (tan δ=0.0008), but the surface of the
foam is not well defined, which makes it impractical
to deposit material directly on it. Foam is also a
porous material. Therefore, the idea of using air as
the dielectric is investigated here. Air is a dielectric
with permittivity of 1 and with loss tangent of 0.
With air as dielectric, the bandwidth is improved
because the fields at the edges of the patch are less
confined. This thesis consists of analyzing a
rectangular air-spaced patch antenna. The analysis
consisted of designing two different patches using
two different literatures; two patch antennas were
simulated and built; the patch antennas parameters
were simulated and the results were compared with
published literatures. Patch antennas studies have not
specifically investigated the air spaced case. Reported
predictions indicate that for a microstrip patch
antenna to deliver good results a dielectric of at least
2.2 should be used to build the antenna [1], [2].
In this paper, a broadband sequentially fed
CP stacked patch antenna has been presented for
universal UHF RFID applications. By using a simple
feeding structure and combining several band
broadening techniques, the optimized antenna has
achieved the desired performance over the UHF band
of 818–964 MHz or 16.4% with the gain of more
than 8.3 dBic, AR of less than 3 dB, return loss of
less than 15 dB, and 3-dB AR beamwidth of larger
than 75 . Therefore, this universal design can be
applied to all the UHF RFID applications worldwide.
The remainder of this paper is organized as
follows. Section II describes the geometry of the
proposed antenna. The simulated results, analysis,
and discussion are presented in Section III. The
validation of the proposed antenna in RFID system
applications is exhibited in Section V. Finally, a
conclusion is drawn in Section VI

A singly – fed circular polarization may be
regarded as one of the simplest radiators for exciting
circular polarization and is very helpful in situations
where the space do not allow to accommodate dual-
orthogonal feeds with a power divider network. This

in our study case we want to achieve a circular
polarization, so we are going to talk of some
techniques used to achieve this goal.
However, the single-fed single-patch CP
antenna in its simple form has inherently narrow AR
and impedance bandwidths of 1%–2% [7]. To
improve the bandwidth, a variety of CP antennas
have been studied, wherein the bandwidth of AR,
impedance matching, and gain have been enhanced,
e.g., by modifying the radiator shape, designing
feeding structures, and optimizing antenna or array
configurations [8]–[17]. Usually, a CP antenna with
the hybrid feed features a wide AR bandwidth, but
suffers a complicated structure, expansive
manufacture, and increased antenna size.
In these papers, the antenna needs to reduce
cost, size and complexity. Many scholars have done a
series of work in the reader antenna design. In order
to increase the impedance bandwidth, and reduce the
antenna dielectric loss; air based microstrip patch
structure is used. Broaden band techniques, such as
parasitic patch, aperture-coupling feeding structure
and so on are shown in [3]-[7]. Besides, to realize the
circularly-polarized characteristic, truncated patch
and novel feeding structures are used to design [8]-
[9]. This paper gives a simple UHF RFID
circularlypolarized reader antenna design; an air-
substrate truncated patch antenna is used to achieve
circularly-polarized characteristic. Compared with
the structures stated above, the proposed antenna has
a simple and compact structure with wide impedance
and axial ratio bandwidths. Thus, the requirement for
a universal UHF RFID reader include: enough wide
bands to cover all UHF RFID frequencies ranges,
perfect performance and lost cost.
By using two coax feeds separated by 90°
which generate fields that are orthogonal to each
other under the patch, as well as outside the patch.
Also with this two-probe arrangement, each probe is
always positioned at a point where the field generated
by the other probe exhibits a null; therefore there is
very little mutual coupling between the two probes.
To achieve circular polarization, it is also required
that the two feeds are fed in such a manner that there
is 90° time phase difference between the fields of the
two, this is achieved through the use of a 90° hybrid.
To achieve circular polarization, the magnitude of the
axial ratio must be unity while the phase must be
±90°. This is can be achieved by both the numerator
and denominator are of equal magnitude and 90° out
of phase [4].
The circular polarization radiation of the
proposed antenna is excited by four cylinder probes
which transmit four signals that have equal amplitude
with a quadrature phase difference (0° or 360°±,
90°±, 180°±, and 270°±) generated from the feed
network (6).
Fig. 1 shows the configuration of the proposed
antenna. The antenna comprises three layers of
conductor, which include main radiating patch, a
suspended microstrip feed line, and a finite-size
ground plane. Air substrate is used in this
configuration to achieve higher gain, broader
bandwidth, and lower cost.
The microstrip feed line of a width of 24
mm is suspended above the ground plane
( 250 250mm mm ) at a height of (5 mm). One
end of the feed line is connected to an RF input,
while the other one is open circuited, which
simplifies the antenna structure.

plastic spacers. Four metallic screws are used as the
probes to connect the microstrip feed line and the
main patch. A coaxial cable is directly connected to
the microstrip feed line to simplify the assembly of
the antenna, where the coaxial cable is split into two
wires (screen and core) and the wires are soldered to
the suspended feed line and the ground plane
separately.
Feed line Network
The probes are of diameter of 1.2 mm, and
transmit four signals that have equal amplitude with
quadrature phase difference (0±, 90±, 180±, and
270±) generated from the feed network. In our
design, mechanism of every probe-feed radiating
patch is similar with the technique of common
coaxial probe-feed patch antenna [4], thus all of the
probes need to be connected to about 50- microstrip-
line, in succession to about 100Ω microstrip-line,
ultimately by a stepped impedance transformer to a
50Ω coaxial cable. As shown in Fig. 1(a), the feed
network is placed over the ground plane with a
distance h.
The feed network is composed by a stepped
impedance transformer, 90± delay line, and 180±
delay lines as shown in Fig. 2(a), and brings into
sequential rotation of current on the radiation patch
for CP radiation. To avoid low radiation efficiency,
100Ω isolation resistor is omitted in the feed network
[9]. By properly selecting the positions of four feed
points and carefully optimizing the stepped
impedance transformer, the input resistance and
reactance can be easily controlled to achieve a wide
impedance bandwidth.

parameters on the performance of the antenna, only
one parameter at a time will be varied, while others
are kept unchanged unless especially indicated.
Fig. 3(a) shows the simulated return loss of
the antenna. The simulated return loss is 31.9280 dB
at 921 MHz. Fig. 3(b) exhibits the simulated AR. The
simulated gain is illustrated in Fig. 3(c). The antenna
exhibits the simulated gain with a peak gain of 9.3
dBic at 921 MHz.

IV. CONCLUSIONS
Broadband sequentially fed CP stacked
patch antenna has been presented for universal UHF
RFID applications. By using a simple feeding
structure and combining several band broadening
techniques, the optimized antenna has achieved the
desired performance over the UHF band of 818–964
MHz or 16.4% with the gain of more than 8.3 dBic,
AR of less than 3 dB, return loss of less than 15 dB,
and 3-dB AR beamwidth of larger than 75 .
