2) A museum studies course would need to examine how the definition and role of museums has changed over time in response to societal changes like globalization and democratization, and reflect on what museums may become in the future.
3) For a museum studies course to be feasible and useful in Flanders, it would need to have an international scope and aim to be a center of excellence for research and knowledge production about museums.

After learning about the symbolism of heraldry, students will have the opportunity to design their own personal coats of arms representing their identity. The session aims to help students understand why heraldry was so significant in the middle ages and how it evolved over time to become more complex.
Open House
The International Institute is hosting an open house to showcase its English program, American cultural studies program, and library offerings. The English program offers classes for children at different levels and locations, as well as exam preparation courses for adults. American cultural studies explores US culture, values, and identities through literature, art, and film. Courses are intended for advanced English learners age 18+ and no prior knowledge is required. Library resources are also available to support learning.

The newsletter provides information about new staff members and research activities at the Centre for Transnational History at the University of St Andrews. Two new staff members are introduced: Sarah Easterby-Smith who researches the global connections between France, Britain, and other countries in the 18th century, and Heidi Mehrkens who is conducting a transnational study comparing the interactions of British, French, and Prussian heirs to the thrones with constitutional states from 1815-1914. Analytical philosophy
Analytic philosophy began in the early 20th century with philosophers like Bertrand Russell, G.E. Moore, and Ludwig Wittgenstein who believed that philosophy should use logical analysis to attain conceptual clarity and be consistent with science. They focused on analyzing language and rejecting grand philosophical systems in favor of close logical examination. Early analytic philosophy developed logical positivism which used formal logic to analyze philosophical propositions, and later shifted to ordinary language philosophy which examined everyday usage. While its specific methods have changed, analytic philosophy is still characterized by precision and thorough examination of narrow topics.
