Heart disease is the leading cause of death worldwide. It is caused by a buildup of fatty deposits called plaque in the arteries that supply blood to the heart. This buildup is called atherosclerosis and can restrict blood flow, potentially leading to heart attack or stroke. The risk of heart disease can be reduced by maintaining a healthy lifestyle through a balanced diet low in saturated fat and cholesterol, regular exercise, not smoking, and controlling conditions like high blood pressure and diabetes. Making these lifestyle changes can significantly lower risk even for those with a family history of heart disease.
Approximately 66% of U.S. adults are overweight or obese, with obesity rates tripling from the late 1970s to 2003. Obesity is defined through body mass index (BMI), which is correlated with total body fat content. Being overweight or obese increases the risk of health issues like hypertension, diabetes, heart disease, and certain cancers. Obesity is caused by an energy imbalance where more calories are consumed than burned through physical activity over a long period of time. Losing weight slowly through diet and exercise while maintaining lifestyle changes can help manage and prevent further weight gain.
This document discusses cardiovascular disease risks and prevention for women. It notes that cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death for women, killing one woman every minute. However, heart disease is largely preventable through lifestyle choices like eating healthy, exercising, not smoking, maintaining a healthy weight, and knowing family health history. It encourages women to speak with their doctors to understand their personal risk level and create a prevention plan through diet, exercise and medication if needed. The overall message is that heart disease risks can be reduced and lives saved through education and making empowered health choices.
This document provides information on preventing heart disease. It defines heart disease and atherosclerosis, which is a buildup of plaque in the arteries. Risk factors for heart disease include high cholesterol, smoking, high blood pressure, diabetes, obesity, physical inactivity, family history, age and sex. The document recommends maintaining a healthy diet low in saturated fat and cholesterol, exercising regularly, not smoking, monitoring cholesterol and blood pressure levels, and taking any prescribed medications to prevent and manage heart disease. Following these lifestyle behaviors can significantly reduce risk of heart attacks and other heart problems.

It provides tips and information for each healthy behavior, including the importance of not smoking to avoid cancer and other diseases, eating a balanced diet with plenty of fruits and vegetables and whole grains, exercising 150 minutes per week and strength training twice per week, drinking no more than one drink per day for women and two for men, and sleeping 7-8 hours per night.
1) Heart disease is caused by a buildup of fatty plaques in the arteries that supply blood to the heart, known as atherosclerosis. This buildup narrows the arteries and reduces blood flow.
2) Risk factors for heart disease include age, family history, high cholesterol, smoking, high blood pressure, diabetes, obesity, lack of exercise, poor diet, and excessive alcohol consumption. Many of these risk factors can be modified through lifestyle changes.
3) Preventing and reversing heart disease involves maintaining a healthy diet low in saturated fat and cholesterol, exercising regularly, avoiding smoking, monitoring cholesterol and blood pressure levels, and taking any prescribed medications as directed by a doctor. Making these lifestyle changes can significantly reduce

Cell Therapy Expansion and Challenges in Autoimmune DiseaseHealth Advances
There is increasing confidence that cell therapies will soon play a role in the treatment of autoimmune disorders, but the extent of this impact remains to be seen. Early readouts on autologous CAR-Ts in lupus are encouraging, but manufacturing and cost limitations are likely to restrict access to highly refractory patients. Allogeneic CAR-Ts have the potential to broaden access to earlier lines of treatment due to their inherent cost benefits, however they will need to demonstrate comparable or improved efficacy to established modalities.
In addition to infrastructure and capacity constraints, CAR-Ts face a very different risk-benefit dynamic in autoimmune compared to oncology, highlighting the need for tolerable therapies with low adverse event risk. CAR-NK and Treg-based therapies are also being developed in certain autoimmune disorders and may demonstrate favorable safety profiles. Several novel non-cell therapies such as bispecific antibodies, nanobodies, and RNAi drugs, may also offer future alternative competitive solutions with variable value propositions.
Widespread adoption of cell therapies will not only require strong efficacy and safety data, but also adapted pricing and access strategies. At oncology-based price points, CAR-Ts are unlikely to achieve broad market access in autoimmune disorders, with eligible patient populations that are potentially orders of magnitude greater than the number of currently addressable cancer patients. Developers have made strides towards reducing cell therapy COGS while improving manufacturing efficiency, but payors will inevitably restrict access until more sustainable pricing is achieved.
Despite these headwinds, industry leaders and investors remain confident that cell therapies are poised to address significant unmet need in patients suffering from autoimmune disorders. However, the extent of this impact on the treatment landscape remains to be seen, as the industry rapidly approaches an inflection point.

16. Hands-Only CPR
WHY LEARN HANDS-ONLY CPR?
• Sudden cardiac arrest is a leading cause of death. Nearly 360,000
out-of-hospital cardiac arrests occur annually in the United States.
• When a teen or adult has a sudden cardiac arrest, survival depends
on immediately getting CPR from someone nearby.
• Sadly, about 90 percent of people who suffer an out-of-hospital
cardiac arrest die because they don’t receive immediate CPR from
someone on the scene.
• Most Americans (70 percent) feel helpless to act during a cardiac
emergency because they don’t know how to administer CPR or
they’re afraid of hurting the victim.
