This study critically reviews the impact of scavenging and fuel injection timing on two-stroke engines, focusing particularly on diesel engines with a uniflow valve scavenging system. It highlights the significant role that injection strategies play in determining engine performance, combustion efficiency, and emissions, while also discussing the inherent challenges such as poor scavenging and cylinder distortion due to heat. Various scavenging methods and their respective efficiencies are evaluated to underscore the complexities involved in optimizing two-stroke engine operations.
