The document discusses factors contributing to childhood obesity such as lack of nutrition from school meals and influence of marketing. It argues that parents and teachers need to provide healthier food options for children and encourage better eating habits to address rising obesity rates. The conclusion is that positive changes in how food is presented to children could significantly impact their health outcomes.

Obesity is supposed to be categorized as the unhealthy overweight condition in the human body and when this becomes apparent at a very young age such as in children, the parents should take a serious look at the diet plan and daily lifestyle of the child as these are probably the two main factors contributing to this negative condition.

Parenting the Adolescent
It is often said that there is much similarity in adolescent and toddler development. In fact, some say that the toddler you had comes back as a teenager. Given what you have read about parenting the toddler (Week 3) and the adolescent (Week 5) describe at least one similarity and one difference and describe how parenting is both the same and different. Please note in your post the relevant developmental stages and how parents effectively meet them.
Parenting changes as children get older, offering new challenges to parents at home. School-age children spend more time away from home, and their interactions with others become increasingly complex. Parents maintain many of the same fundamental responsibilities with school-age children as they did with preschoolers. They need to continue to provide love and affection, to set age-appropriate rules and boundaries, and to support physical, cognitive and social development.
Topics to be covered include:
Normal physical, emotional and social development in during the elementary school and early teen years
Ways parents can support their child’s development during the elementary school and early teen years
Techniques to help parents maintain positive relationships with their adolescents as they become more independent and move toward adulthood
Techniques to help school-age children develop positive relationships with family and peers
Ways parents can promote healthy lifestyles with school age children
Effects of media use on children’s development
· Sleep
· Sleep helps attention, emotional well-being, and learning. Adequate sleep helps the body regulate its metabolic processes and weight control. Parents should establish a consistent bedtime schedule as well as bedtime routines to help children develop the habit of sleep. Parents who adopt positive and nurturing parenting styles support healthy sleep patterns in children.
· School-age children usually sleep independently; however, maintaining a normal bedtime routine is part of good sleep hygiene. Sleep hygiene includes a number of practices that support healthy sleep, like avoiding caffeine in the afternoon, having a cool, dark room, and a relaxing bedtime routine. For school-age children, this might involve a shower or bath, a snack, and reading time, either alone or with a parents. It is best to avoid screens, including smartphones and tablets, before bed.
·
CDC RECOMMENDATIONS
· The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (2013) recommends that newborns sleep between 16–18 hours per day. A preschool-age child should sleep between 11–12 hours per day. It is recommended that school-age children get nine to 11 hours of sleep per night. There is some room for individual variation between children, with some managing well on eight hours and others needing 12 hours a night to feel well. If a child is consistently sleeping less than seven hours or more than.
Lung Cancer: Artificial Intelligence, Synergetics, Complex System Analysis, S...Oleg Kshivets
RESULTS: Overall life span (LS) was 2252.1±1742.5 days and cumulative 5-year survival (5YS) reached 73.2%, 10 years – 64.8%, 20 years – 42.5%. 513 LCP lived more than 5 years (LS=3124.6±1525.6 days), 148 LCP – more than 10 years (LS=5054.4±1504.1 days).199 LCP died because of LC (LS=562.7±374.5 days). 5YS of LCP after bi/lobectomies was significantly superior in comparison with LCP after pneumonectomies (78.1% vs.63.7%, P=0.00001 by log-rank test). AT significantly improved 5YS (66.3% vs. 34.8%) (P=0.00000 by log-rank test) only for LCP with N1-2. Cox modeling displayed that 5YS of LCP significantly depended on: phase transition (PT) early-invasive LC in terms of synergetics, PT N0—N12, cell ratio factors (ratio between cancer cells- CC and blood cells subpopulations), G1-3, histology, glucose, AT, blood cell circuit, prothrombin index, heparin tolerance, recalcification time (P=0.000-0.038). Neural networks, genetic algorithm selection and bootstrap simulation revealed relationships between 5YS and PT early-invasive LC (rank=1), PT N0—N12 (rank=2), thrombocytes/CC (3), erythrocytes/CC (4), eosinophils/CC (5), healthy cells/CC (6), lymphocytes/CC (7), segmented neutrophils/CC (8), stick neutrophils/CC (9), monocytes/CC (10); leucocytes/CC (11). Correct prediction of 5YS was 100% by neural networks computing (area under ROC curve=1.0; error=0.0).
CONCLUSIONS: 5YS of LCP after radical procedures significantly depended on: 1) PT early-invasive cancer; 2) PT N0--N12; 3) cell ratio factors; 4) blood cell circuit; 5) biochemical factors; 6) hemostasis system; 7) AT; 8) LC characteristics; 9) LC cell dynamics; 10) surgery type: lobectomy/pneumonectomy; 11) anthropometric data. Optimal diagnosis and treatment strategies for LC are: 1) screening and early detection of LC; 2) availability of experienced thoracic surgeons because of complexity of radical procedures; 3) aggressive en block surgery and adequate lymph node dissection for completeness; 4) precise prediction; 5) adjuvant chemoimmunoradiotherapy for LCP with unfavorable prognosis.

New Directions in Targeted Therapeutic Approaches for Older Adults With Mantl...i3 Health
i3 Health is pleased to make the speaker slides from this activity available for use as a non-accredited self-study or teaching resource.
This slide deck presented by Dr. Kami Maddocks, Professor-Clinical in the Division of Hematology and
Associate Division Director for Ambulatory Operations
The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center, will provide insight into new directions in targeted therapeutic approaches for older adults with mantle cell lymphoma.
STATEMENT OF NEED
Mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) is a rare, aggressive B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) accounting for 5% to 7% of all lymphomas. Its prognosis ranges from indolent disease that does not require treatment for years to very aggressive disease, which is associated with poor survival (Silkenstedt et al, 2021). Typically, MCL is diagnosed at advanced stage and in older patients who cannot tolerate intensive therapy (NCCN, 2022). Although recent advances have slightly increased remission rates, recurrence and relapse remain very common, leading to a median overall survival between 3 and 6 years (LLS, 2021). Though there are several effective options, progress is still needed towards establishing an accepted frontline approach for MCL (Castellino et al, 2022). Treatment selection and management of MCL are complicated by the heterogeneity of prognosis, advanced age and comorbidities of patients, and lack of an established standard approach for treatment, making it vital that clinicians be familiar with the latest research and advances in this area. In this activity chaired by Michael Wang, MD, Professor in the Department of Lymphoma & Myeloma at MD Anderson Cancer Center, expert faculty will discuss prognostic factors informing treatment, the promising results of recent trials in new therapeutic approaches, and the implications of treatment resistance in therapeutic selection for MCL.
Target Audience
Hematology/oncology fellows, attending faculty, and other health care professionals involved in the treatment of patients with mantle cell lymphoma (MCL).
Learning Objectives
1.) Identify clinical and biological prognostic factors that can guide treatment decision making for older adults with MCL
2.) Evaluate emerging data on targeted therapeutic approaches for treatment-naive and relapsed/refractory MCL and their applicability to older adults
3.) Assess mechanisms of resistance to targeted therapies for MCL and their implications for treatment selection

A child that is obess can be effect in there school work
1. A CHILD THAT IS OBSESS CAN
BE EFFECT IN THERE SCHOOL
WORK.
Victoria Frye
Jessica Ruddick
ENG122
English Composition
2. January 11, 2012
Introduction:
The current family spend 35% of there time consuming food outside there home. There is a 7% to
a 12% of children that skip breakfast. The reason why is they had too much to do in the morning.
They try to get to school on time so they forget about breakfast. They do not want to be late for
there first class. Children here in the United States consume more then half of there own body
weight, when they eat.
3. Why childhood obesity is become a problem
Why Children consume so much food.
It could be the environment that there in.
Ever child has an environment that the live in. It might be a wealthy, middle class, or a
poor environment. Not ever child has an environment that the partners can
afford a lot of food. These children go to school hunger, and when it comes to
lunch they eat and want more so they head for the vending machine. In these
machine they do not get there daily nutrition. When they do not get proper
nutrition they can become over weight. Childhood obesity is an increasing
problem here in the United States. There are more then 9 million children here in
the U.S.A that is obese, and 16% are becoming obese. We need to start creating
an environment where kids can grow up healthier then what they have. Showing
children that they do have a choice in what they eat will help them make the right
choices in the food they eat. Show them they do not have to have low-energy.
How the right food can affect a child.
Children choices food that is very high in calories. It is affecting the way the feel and
performs in school. When they have taken in to many fatty acids foods, they
4. become less active in school. They do not get enough nutrients to fuel their
bodies to do well in school. When children take in to much fatty acids food they
can provide a risk of having an unhealthy life. There are a number of influences
that play big part on what kids eat. Like characters they have seen on TV. When
it comes to ratiocination what they are eating then they can get the proper protein
their bodies need.
Most children attend school for nine months out of the year. So that means they spend
most of there time in school. The schools do have healthy meals but some teens
will not eat at the cafeteria, they get to go off campus or they will wait unstill
school it over to eat. The children don’t like the food or they say it’s not enough,
so it does not fill them up. The results of that are they are still hunger. So what do
they do they go to the vending machines and get chips, candy bars, and cookies.
So they will have something more to eat. The hunger they get, they more they
will eat.
How the media can play a roll in are children eating habits
The media plays a big roll in what are kids eat today. Television, radio, and billboards
they can see. Plays an in roll in how are kids look at food. The actors the see on the
screens has a big part in how they see themselves. It can affect the see and feel about
them, when they don’t see they don’t look like movie stars. When teens and kids to go
the movies the will go and try to get the cheapest way to have pop and popcorn. That
way they can get free refills on them. They watch how the actors are and they try to
portray the way the live and act. When they see an actor not eating they think they don’t
have to eat, or it can be the opposite. The food industry looks at actors and athlete’s as
a promoter for sell there food or drink. The food industry has a promoter that will say
5. thinks just to sell the produce. They target children and young adults, because they look
up to these people. They influence the by showing them drinks and food that the star’s
drink and eat. When they do this the child ask there mom or dad can we go there and
eat that food that the stars eat? The food might be height in calories. The actors and
athletes will show there favor snacks and bake goods. Like eat this instead of that. Even
if it’s a Big Mac its better for you then a Subway just saying. Kids look at people that
have particular lifestyles, and the market targets that. They have food that can go with
any life style now. They go for what the actors are wearing and eating. They have
showed that show people that are not overweight and not getting fat. All that show’s the
children that it’s ok to eat and eat, and they will not be overweight. So children mock
what the see. Many of are factors have contributed to what are children want and see
on TV. They have come up with a way to get people to buy food. Like when you a Pepsi
on TV do your child ever ask mommy or daddy can I have a Pepsi? Kraft is a good
protein cheese can build bones but not much of it can get some kids sick. Now they
have came out with lower- calories drink it’s what better for you. That is still fating to be
children. The avenge house hold spend over $476 billion in restaurants alone. Man
that’s a lot of money. Maybe that’s why are children are getting to be oboist. Over 78%
of child’s go shopping with there parent’s. They will help mom and dad pick out the food
they will eat. When they do that, the children influence what the partners buy. They will
be like I don’t eat that I eat this and the partners give in and by them food that’s not
good for them, or they buy food that has characters on it. Like Nestle used the nestle
bunny and who could for get the Koo-Aid Man for Koo-Aid. With his smiling face ever
one would want to buy him. Having characters on TV and food has a big impact of what
kids eat and what they eat. If your child is a Harry Potter fan, then they would have to be
6. Harry Potter, it goes for Sponge Bob creoles or Sponge Bob soup. When people that
make this characters, the kids that have seen them I has a big impact on what the buy
and what they eat. Now they have characters on all most everything. The include pizza,
cookies, cake, and even beverages that the kids are drinking. When a child see there
favor character they just have to have it what ever it is. The advertisements company
has been doing this for years. When a child sees food on TV they ask mom or dad if
they can have it. When the child does not get what he or she wants, they will throw a fit
until they do. So the parents given in and take them to McDonald’s or the Pizza place.
When the get what they want , they go home and sit playing video games or they watch
TV, and they don’t burn off the fatty food they just ate. There are a number of
beverages, and food group out there.
What can we do as parents and teachers?
As partners we need to watch what goes in are children mouth. We need to watch how
much unhealthy are kids eat in a day. Watching the intake of food and beverages we
can help them increase the amount they take in. we need to help them devolve a better
base of intake in more healthy foods. That will give is, a better nutritious way of eating.
How do we as parents approach this matter? We approach this problem by coming
together as parents and teachers. When the children are at school, have the school
offer better nutritional foods and beverages, which have vitamins and protein in them.
Offer food and drink’s that the children will enjoy. Just because the school has vending
machines, it does not mean they could not put heather food in them. When they
introduce heather food the children will be showing a better and healthier way of eating.
7. They will then make better choices in what they eat. Providing a better choice can
impact the way children look at there food. In food like, foods that has more “fruits,
vegetables, and whole grains. Will set a better nutritionally standers for the children.
It is important to have values about what foods are going into are kids mouths. Have it
where ever student and child have a healthy breakfast. With a healthy breakfast they
might just make it better choices on having a healthy lunch. The reason is they will fill
better about having a healthy breakfast, so they will want a healthily lunch. When they
have healthy food in them the will fill better about their self’s. With the fact that is food
has high sugar, fat, and salt out of schools a problem. I am not saying all the food we
consume is high in fat, just most of it is. It is just when they are growing up the see food
on TV and the want it. As grade school, middle schools, and high schools, get more
children they should provide a more filling and nutritious meals for them. When they eat
better they will do better in there work. They will also make better choices at home in
what they eat. Showing children you do not have to be a superstar to become famous in
life. When you change into a better person you fell better, and do better in school. When
schools recommended better nutrient standards they will improve the way the students
look at food outside of the school. These will be the first steps in indenting them way
children and teens look at their food. Becoming well organized to show them the right
step’s for them to take. Making food and beverage that have more protein and vitamins
in them and making them available for the children will big a huge step in the right
directions.
Conclusion:
Having a positive change in how the food is seen and how the food is look at will have a
huge impact on the kids out come. All we have to do is make a change in how we show
8. are children and how we look at food.
