National Electric Code 220.87 National Electric Code 220.87 Optional Calculations for Determining Existing Loads. The calculations of a feeder or service load for existing installations shall be permitted to use actual maximum demand to determine the existing load under the following conditions: The maximum demand data is available for a 1- year period. Exception: If the maximum demand data for a 1-year period is not available. The calculated load shall be permitted to be based on the maximum demand (measure of average power demand over a 15-minute period) continuously recorded over a minimum 30 day period using a recording ammeter or power meter connected to the highest loaded phase of the feeder or service, based on the initial loading at the start of the recording. The NEC Handbook further clarifies demand to mean kVA versus kW as stated below. Additional loads may be connected to existing services and feeders under the following conditions: The maximum demand kVA data for a minimum one-year period (or the 30-day alternate method from the exception) is available.

Harmonics Recording 1735 Power Logger Record harmonics over time to view trends - Record harmonics over time to view trends - programmable recording times from 2 hours to 45 days Trend is drawn graphically on screen for quick evaluation and long term analysis After some time the graph moves along the window and a ‘slice’ of the recording is visible on the display. The width of the ‘slice is dependant on the average time selected This mode can be used for ‘harmonic benchmarking’ -that is the comparison of electrical systems after installation of new, possibly disturbing harmonic loads. Logged data can be downloaded by PowerLog software for further analysis and automatic reporting
Measure Energy Consumption Pressing the down Cursor key from the power screen takes the user to the energy screen - Press <RUN> to start measuring 1735 Power Logger
Validate Energy Efficiency Improvements Energy totalisation starts, elapsed time is shown on the top bar 1735 Power Logger

Capturing Voltage Events 1735 Power Logger Voltage events are considered to be one of the main cause of disruption to electrical systems. These voltage events are classified as: Dip / Sags – A fall in nominal operating voltage by more than 10% for at least half of one frequency cycle Swell / Surge – A rise in nominal operating voltage by more than 10% for at least half of one frequency cycle Interruption – A complete loss of voltage for at least half of one frequency cycle
Capturing Voltage Events 1735 Power Logger A threshold for voltage event capture is set – this is normally a percentage of the nominal operating voltage If threshold is exceeded the event is captured and displayed, often many events occur almost simultaneously for example: across more than one phase or a short dip and return to nominal level The capture event is noted by type, location and includes real trigger time Subsequent events can be viewed by scrolling through events data with cursor pad
Flexible Power Network Connection Simple connection procedure with color coded test leads, flexible current probes and color display Single phase with neutral, Split Phase, Three Phase Wye, 2 Element Delta and 3 Element Delta All three phase parameters available: Total power parameters kW, kVA, kVAR, kWh, kVARh etc. Easy comparison of phase voltage and currents 1735 Power Logger
