Why Men Still Can t Have It All By Richard Dorment
In the essay Why Men Still Can t Have It All by Richard Dorment, the topic of equality in the genders
is explored. This topic includes various aspects of the lives of men and women, including work in and
out of the home. Dorment responds to other opinions and viewpoints and explains why no one can
have it all. He brings up many convincing arguments that show why the feminist push for equals
rights for women is not producing the outcome that people want it to have. I agree with what much of
Dorment is saying in this essay, and the following paragraphs will explain Dorment s argument.
To start the essay, Dorment asks the question of whether it is better to be born a boy or a girl in today s
society. He says it is a toss up, and gives a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Here, Dorment says that one s feelings cannot be used as evidence of an injury. He also gives an
example from his own life. He and his wife share laundry duty, but when he folds the laundry, his wife
does it again. When he asks why she does this, she tells him he folds the laundry wrong. He makes the
point that women want to be helped and supported more around the house, but tell men that they are
doing things wrong. I can see where Dorment is coming from with these points. In today s society,
people base too many arguments on feelings, instead of facts, truth, and evidence. The feelings of
expectations for the house are not men s fault, nor are men the cause for women s hardship in this
area.
Men and women also have different opinions and reactions to leaving the house for work, Dorment
says. Men today want to be better fathers than men in previous generations, men still feel like they
have to provide for the family, even if they have wives that bring in forty five percent of the family
income (Dorment 709). This is why men feel as though they can work long hours away from home.
They feel as though they are sacrificing time with their kids to provide for the family (even though
they may still miss their kids). Women, Dorment points out, have a different reaction to leaving their
kids to go to work. They feel guilty and experience

A Summary Of Cora Unashamed
The short story Cora Unashamed by Langston Hughes is about an African American woman who
works for an established white family. Cora is their housekeeper and looks after their youngest
daughter Jessie. Cora lost her only child soon after it was born so the Studevant s daughter, Jessie,
became like a daughter to Cora. As Jessie grows, she falls and love and becomes pregnant. Cora
encourages her love and her pregnancy. However, Jessie mother refuses to allow her daughter to have
the child and Jessie has an abortion. Jessie eventually dies of grief. At her funeral, Cora s increasing
anger finally is voiced. She cries, They killed you, honey. They killed you and your child. I told em
you loved it, but they didn t care. They killed it before it was... (Langston, 7). Cora is removed from
the funeral by force and she gathers her belongings and leaves the Studevants for good. This paper
will discuss the possible consequences of Cora s outburst and whether it was worth it to express
herself so abruptly. Although Cora waiting until most of the funeral was over, her uproar still took
place while the Studevant s home held mourning family and friends. Cora allowed her feeling, as just
as they may be, to overwhelm her and to cloud her mind. The very nature of her speech was
spontaneous. We can see this because her comments are directed toward Jessie, not her mother, and
not those who attended the funeral. Cora is overcome with greif and anger, which causes her to act
out. They

A Woman Of The House
A woman of the house takes care of all the big and small duties within the household. They were seen
as the weaker gender because they were not as wise as men were and they were not as strong as men
were; many times seen as incapable of taking care of themselves and their children. Women were good
at what they did within the household and it was believed that they were born to be in that domain.
Women were kept in the private spheres, which lacks societal life but that sphere is where they have
their authority. Some may say the authority is equal to that of a man but these two authorities were
different because women were not capable of taking care of themselves outside of the private sphere.
The public sphere belonged to men because they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They learned individual responsibilities and were teachers to their children in the home because men
were incapable of doing so; men were not naturally moral or nurturing. They were able to advance
with the skills they already had and were able to learn more to better improve those skills.
Women were not able to complain about their stress or struggles because they are the glue that held
the family together in order for their husbands to be able to venture off into the cities and search for
earnings in order to support his family. In some ways she was the mother and the father since the
father was not always in the household. She was held responsible for the outcome of the children s
lives as adults and what they become in the future.
The ideologies of women in the south were mainly to be a submissive woman by the side of their man
and family members. Women of the nineteenth century accepted this type of treatment because they
believed it was a their faith and a plan of God. Men viewed woman as godly beings. The female Gods
always performed moral excellence and formed a happy home to those they loved. Their sex roles
were distinct in life because that was the norm and they were limited to any advancement in the public
world. Later, they were able to advance in life by building a strong connection between one another
and set examples for the future generation. This explains the female sex dividing the differences of
domestic ideology and

Examples Of Metaphors In The Convergence Of The Twain
Pride, a human flaw, creates destruction and the insatiable desire for more. It leads to testing nature
and eventually to downfall. On April 14, 1912 the Titanic and its unsinkable pride collided with an
iceberg. The people onboard noticed the Iceberg too late to avoid it. In The Convergence of the Twain
, Thomas Hardy expressed his belief that fate brought down the Titanic due to human pride though his
descriptions of the ship and its people and his descriptions of nature and the iceberg. Hardy uses
metaphors, personification, and irony to prove the ship s fate was set as soon as humans believed her
greater than nature. By comparing the ship to beautiful inanimate objects, the reader can see the
destruction and uselessness of beauty. The Titanic is jewels in joy designed to attracted the sensuous
mind. The Titanic, beautifully crafted by thousands of hands and great patience stunned and
mesmerized the human mind just as jewels do. The ship s beauty did not aid it in the end. The ship
now lie[s] lightless with all it s shine bleared and black and blind. This beauty s final destination ends
in the cold ocean waters lying useless and dull as fated. People created this ship with an enormous
pride that even the ship could not contain it, its crown set too high. It tested nature with its vanity and
nature retaliated. Hardy criticizes the ship on her pride, where she only has herself to blame. Hardy
uses personification to give the ship life and personality.

Oliver Sacks is a very famous doctor of neurology as well as a writer. He spent most of his adult life
treating patients. Oliver Sacks mostly concentrated on disorders of the brain and nervous system. In a
lot of the cases that Sacks dealt with, there was nothing he was able to do to heal the patients. His goal
was to find a way to live with and accept their condition as well as possible. Sacks enjoyed dealing
with cases mostly about experiences of real people struggling to live with unusual conditions. That s
where he wanted to find ways to help these patients to the best of his and medical ability out there.

Sacks tried to get to know his clients by spending time with them out of his work schedule. Oliver
Sacks discovers individuals by doing activities with them. He would try to study each case in each
unique way. He took his patients to concerts where he was able to see how they react in different
circumstance and what part of brain they were mostly using. He would note that some memory would
be there for a certain amount of time and then they would go back to their own ways. For example, in
the story of the Last Hippie , Greg would become a different person when he was around music or you
talked to him about certain musicians. That was Greg s passion and the only thing that changed and
altered his mood. Although, once some time passed and music was no where around, Greg went back
to his grumpy old self. He would be in his own little world. He would act very strangely around
people. Greg would also make no sense when you were having a conversation with him. The people
that Sacks studies are both patients and subjects to him I believe. In one perspective when he has a
case that he studies it can be classified as a subject because he has so many cases that he studies and
observes patients in. Although, on the other hand it can be classified to him as patients because he
actually cares about each and every one of them and tries to hang out and spend extra time with them.

Boxing
Roberto Hands of Stone Duran once said: Getting hit motivates me. It makes me punish the guy more.
A fighter takes a punch, hits back with three punches. Duran represents one of the hardest punchers in
boxing history, and the best middleweight that has ever fought. He is one of the most experienced and
successful boxers inside and outside of the ring. Boxing is a sport that provides excellent physical
condition, because its high intensity exercises all muscles at the same time. It increases muscular tone,
cardiovascular capacity and overall body strength.
One of the principal benefits of boxing is the capacity to increase muscular tone. Boxing doesn t
create bulky muscles, instead it provides well toned muscles due to the constant movement. By
punching and moving around, muscles are exercised at all times, which is very different from other
sports where only one muscle is exercised at a time. Exercising all muscles at once does not make
them bigger, it makes them healthy and able to develop properly. Bones also play an important role in
having well toned muscles. By boxing, bones gain power and size; therefore, the proportions of
muscles are affected in a positive way. When bones get stronger, muscles ... Show more content on

By punching and moving the hips, arms and legs constantly gain power and endurance. The oblique,
shoulders, back, and many more muscles are contracted. For example, throwing a punch makes
deltoids work in synergy with the pectorals, contracting the trapezius for another punch. This example
clearly demonstrates how boxing improves strength in a very good way and how it involves a vast
quantity of muscles. One of boxing´s best attributes is giving the ability to defend yourself. It properly
teaches how to block a punch, dodge a strike, and hit properly. Because of this, you will be able to
defend yourself in any situation (even without hitting your opponent) and leave with no harm done to

My Trip At A Restaurant
The patio light was on automatically when I opened my aunt s apartment front door but the house was
still dark. I knew my aunt had not returned yet. She texted me before I was done with my shift to tell
me that she would return home late. As an accountant in a hospital, she was always busy on the first
week of the month for what she called month end closing . I did not know exactly the meaning of it,
but I knew she would come home late for those days.
Turning on the light, I put my take out container on the kitchen s counter. On my way home, I stopped
at a Chinese restaurant for our dinners since I did not want to give another burden to my aunt. She was

Despite I liked eating together with my aunt, but for a chance, I enjoyed for eating alone while

Holding the TV remote, I flipped the channels from one to another. Sometime, I did not know why we
had so many channels on TV especially if there were nothing interested to watch. It was a waste, wasn

My finger froze on the air when one of Asian s TV showing a lady almost fifty years old wearing a
black color dress, looked somber and looked away the reporter who was trying to take her picture.
Behind her, there was a young man around twenty seven years old, looked serious and rounded his
hand on the lady s shoulder. I d seen the scene few times since it was not a recent news. Still, my heart
was sad to see the miserable expression on the lady and his son. I was glad when the scene was
replaced by a good looking female reporter.

The Three Major Aspects Of Industrialization From 1865 To...
There are three major aspects of industrialization from 1865 to 1920 that influenced U.S. society,
economy and politics. These are urbanization, working conditions and laissez faire government.
Urbanization created cities who offered large numbers of workers for new factories. In turn, more
factories were built. Workers, both native born and immigrants, moved to cities looking for jobs.
Industrialism and post industrialism let to a decline in patriarchy within the family because of the
changes that were made to society.
The birth of the Industrial Revolution had one staggering advantage, even to the most distanced and
skeptical farmer: a living could be made that was not subject to climate changes. Therefore, a man
could actually be assured of regular, dependable wages. This did not, however, translate into a vast
emigration of farmers to the new cities. An economy based upon agriculture is altogether distinct from
an industrial one. The former is dependent upon the unpredictable elements of nature and the weather,
the consequences of which could lead to ruin and famine. Indispensable to this growth and
development were an unprecedented surge in immigration and urbanization after the Civil War.
American society was in transition. The industrial revolution meant more money and wealth for the
upper classes, especially the owners of large companies. It was thought that the wealth would be
invested back into new factories, so the Americans accepted this wealth distribution.

Explain why businesses give importance to the operation (1.1)
Operations management (OM) is that phase of an organization where inputs are put into operations to

Demographics Paper
DEMOGRAPHICS Demographics in the true essence of the word means the records of the human
population in a country. This includes the country s population density, ethnicity, education level,
health, economic status, religious affiliations, and other aspects of the said population. In some
commonly used demographics gender, race, age, income, disabilities, educational attainment, home
ownership, employment status, and even location are also included. Also called demographic data,
these are the characteristics of a human population as used in government, marketing and opinion

China, for one adopted this policy in order to curb population growth. We all know that China has the
highest population in the world, encompassing 1.2 billion or twenty one percent of the world s
population. They know too well that if this would continue to grow, they will be having serious social
and economic problems. As a solution, in the year 1979, Chinese authorities create a one child per
family policy and because male children are often regarded as more economically valuable, female
infanticides increase. Infanticides are often regarded to as an inhumane act especially to us Christians
however in primitive people; this thing is not new to them. Many Asian and European countries
engaged in this act to prevent the population growth in their nations.
Because of the ONE CHILD POLICY, China was able to control its population. They are considered
to have the highest population rate not just in Asia but in the whole world and so this policy is more or
less favorable to them. This policy was said to have been the reason why they were saved from famine
and other economic disability. However, in smaller countries like Japan, this policy was effective
during the first years of implementation but later on become a hindrance in the progress of their
country. Japan, just like China adopted this policy to prevent the growth of their population. Now,
however they feel sorry that they had implemented this policy because now, they have the what you

Video Games Call Of Duty
One of the biggest controversial cases among parents and children is, whether to allow them to play
violent video games. Many people often assume that these intense games have a direct correlation to
becoming a violent person. While many people agree with this, the research is not 100% accurate.
This makes it very hard to find proof that a violent video game is one of the leading causes of a violent
person. We are often blaming these games for a more internal complex problem.
One of the leading video games Call Of Duty focuses on killing people in order to win the game. This
game has over 40 million users and is the most successful franchise in all of history. In my opinion
what is the fun of theoretically killing virtual people? I do not think kids should be subjective to
watching this violence at a young age. These games should be geared for adults more than children.
When the child is held at the age of accountability they can then decide what games are good for
them.
When a shooting happens many people are looking for reasons as to why it happened, many times
they automatically assumed that person played violent video games. Conservatives start to raise their
opinion when things in American go awry. Republican Donald Trump tweeted on Twitter: Video game
violence glorification must be stopped it s creating monsters! In hopes to end the video games that
correlate to violence the government plans to take action. The state Rep. of Missouri, Diane Franklin,

The Pregnancy Outreach And Birth Mothers
For my cultural plunge, I decided to sit in at a birth mothers care group for women who decided to
give their child or children up for adoption. This care group is one of many care groups held by Crisis
Pregnancy Outreach. Crisis Pregnancy Outreach, or CPO is a nonprofit organization assisting women
in crisis, such as those experiencing unplanned pregnancies. Their main mission is to help woman find
alternate solutions to unplanned pregnancies that do not result in abortion.
Each week women gather at Christian Chapel, a church in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to meet with mentors to
discuss what they endured that week. There are several different care groups. The most attended
groups are the parenting and birth mothers groups. I decided to sit in at a birth mothers group, which
was uncomfortable for me. This care group is held for birth mothers who have gave their child or
children up for adoption. Some of the birth mothers experience open adoption, meaning they have
some form of communication with their birth children. Although some birth mothers obtain closed
adoptions, where they have no communication with their birth children.
This experience was very eye opening for me. I cannot relate to any of these women because I have no
children, nor am I a product of adoption. It was truly amazing to hear each of their testimonies. One
story that stood out to me was of a woman that was around my age, and decided to place her son for
adoption. At the time when she placed him, she was

The Middle Ages And The Renaissance
The Middle Ages is thought to be a time period of obliviousness by many historians, where diminutive
or no developments took place. The church was the focus of attention, and rather than a logical
outlook of the world, beliefs were concentrated around fallacies; on the other hand, the resurgence of
education and innovations that followed the Middle Ages and was branded as the Renaissance. There
have been disagreements as to whether the Renaissance is actually a isolated time period, or instead,
just a great point of the Middle Ages. The Renaissance was unquestionably a distinct time period.
With the ancient Greek and Roman people as their muse, it led to humanism views and stimulated
man to become talented in multiple areas of life. Therefore, the Renaissance man, a man who
surpassed in many areas, became protuberant. Also, the ideals of the people altered, and their religious
beliefs no longer governed their lives. Developments in all facets of life effectively enhanced. Thus,
numerous aspects led to the modification from the Middle Ages to the Renaissance, a time period that
was indisputably dissimilar from the Middle Ages; and Civic Humanism became the forefront of this
time.
Throughout the Renaissance, notions and theories reformed significantly. Humanism, a vital portion of
the Renaissance, focused on nonspiritual concepts and theories and the significance of promoting
individual s thoughts and morals. This movement depicted stimulation from the early Greek and

Describing Dunkirk
Describing Dunkirk From what I have learned about Dunkirk, it is possible to say that it could have
been seen as a victory and also a defeat for the British. When the Second World War first began in
September 1939 Germany had started to invade Poland and as a result of this France and Britain
joined in an alliance and declared war on Germany. By the 10th May 1940 Germany had begun their
invasion of France using the Blitzkrieg Method. On the 20th May Germany had reached the coast and
trapped Britain and France at Dunkirk the only port remaining. Fortunately Operation Dynamo was
approved by Churchill allowing ships to cross the channel and rescue troops from Dunkirk this was a

This source shows panic between troops and the Government. This was quite unusual as this message
was given on the most successful day of the evacuation, when 47,081 troops were brought to safety.
This source is quite reliable as the message is written at the time of the evacuation. The source also
shows Churchill excepting an element of defeat, however it doesn t tell us about the other days of
evacuation. As well as these sources there are also other sources that confirm the theory of Dunkirk
being panicked and disorderly. They are written by a British pilot shot down near Dunkirk, a German
fighter pilots account of Dunkirk, Charles Lightoller a retired sailor and a painting by Charles Cundall
an official war artist. As we can see there are quite a few sources that support this theory. Another
aspect of defeat is the loss of troops and equipment. The BEF had lost and left behind virtually all of
its equipment. It had been forced to abandon 2,472 guns, 90,000 rifles, 63,879 vehicle, 20,548
motorcycles and over 500,000 tons of stores and ammunition. More importantly 68,000 troops did not
make it safely home being killed, captured or injured. From my research I know that once on a boat,
troops were still not safe from air attack, mines or submarines many ships and boats were sunk or
badly damaged whilst

When Was the First Halloween?
There has never been a time in modern civilization that we haven t had a Halloween celebration. For
the past 2,000 years, various cultures around the world have participated in observing the holiday.
Different cultures introduce their own traditions and carry out preexisting traditions. The cycle has
been continuous for a couple thousand years, but where did it all come from?
When Was the First Halloween?
The first documented instance of Halloween was found in Irish and Scottish historical documents that
placed the first mentioning of Halloween type celebrations about 2,000 years ago. This celebration
was the Celtic holiday of Samhain. Samhain was a very important holiday for the Celtic people. These
people were entirely dependent on the land for survival. This dependency demonstrated itself with the
number of nature gods that the Celtic people worshipped. During Samhain, it was assumed that ...

While some of the traditions have changed over the years, the same fundamental traditions are still
observed in modern times. Historians backed up their claims because of the similarities between
Halloween and Samhain.
Costumes: Costumes are a very specific Halloween tradition, but it was the participants of Samhain
that wore costumes first. The Celts believed that spirits could come back to the land of the living
during Samhain, and they would dress like supernatural creatures in order to blend in. They believed
that dressing up kept them safe because they could fool the ghost into thinking that they were
supernatural. Costumes were handmade until the 1920 s when companies found that Halloween was a
very profitable time of year, and decided to start mass producing costumes.
Trickery: Samhain was a time where the youth of the group would participate in trickery, much like
we see during Halloween today. Minor incidences of vandalism were reported with both

European Colonisers, Impacted On Maori Social Organisation
In this essay, I will argue European colonisers, impacted on Maori social organisation. Through the
adaption of social controls by using social power to acquire ingenious land. Altering on the spiritual
relationship associated in place to regulate social behaviour in 19th Century Aotearoa New Zealand.
Prior to contact with Europeans Maori lived communally in a tribal society where authority was
ranked and centralised by a hereditary chief; in which responsibilities were passed down through the
tribe. Roles were based on your social position and resources were shared to create an affluent society.
However, in response to foreign influences, the organisation changed as Maori adopted European
ideologies, meanings and knowledge. Social relations reformed as societies grew in scale leading to
greater competition for resources. Europeans used social power to dominate land ownership by the
end of the 19th Century. Creating a stratified society, shifting the unified organisation of Maori
society.
Maori were a branch of Polynesians from Hawaii who eventually settled In New Zealand and came to
be known as Maori. They were people of the land, known as Tiritiri o moana each tribe and shared a
common understanding, sharing customary practices in their intergroup relations. Maori shared a deep

Essay on Serial Killer Jeffrey Dahmer
Jeffrey Dahmer was born in Milwaukee on the 21st of May, 1960, to Lionel and Joyce Dahmer. From
a very young age Jeffrey was a normal young boy who showed no signs of any mental problems. At a
very young age Jeffrey began to develop an interest in dead animals when his father found a number
of dead animal bones while sweeping under the house. This didn t affect the way he behaved until
when he started going to preschool. Whilst attending preschool Jeffrey was seen as a very shy boy, at
the same time his interest in animals began to grow. When Jeffrey was four years old his father found
some dead animal bones under the house and Jeffrey enjoyed playing with them and breaking them
into pieces. This became an exciting experience to him ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His behavior became extreme as he began taking a bottle of whisky to school. In 1975 his neighbours
found a dog s head impaled on a stick and an animal s body attached to a tree. According to (Masters,
1993) Jeffrey did not enjoy killing or inflicting pain towards live animals but cutting the limbs off the
animal. When Jeffrey reached his teenage hood, he began having fantasies about killing and disfigure
men which is believed to be why he began killing his victims. (Stone, 2006) argued that Jeffrey
suffered from mixed personalities. He fantasized on having sex with copses where he most of his
victims were met in gay bars and seduce them with free alcohol or money. After having sex he would
usually drug his victim or stab them and then engages into sexual intercourse with the copse or
masturbates over it (Miller, Vandome, McBrewster). Jeffrey would disfigure his victim s corpse into
small parts and pour acid on the head to remove the flesh, where he would keep the skull as a trophy.
At times he also kept his victim s heart and other body parts which he would later on eat (Davis,
1991). (Davis, 1991) argued that Jeffrey s crimes were committed because of how society rejected
him. Jeffrey can be seen as a (hedonistic) serial killer, someone who gets sexually aroused while
committing the murder (Holmes and Holmes, 2009). His murder victims were sexually abused; his
victims were more than

Symbolism Of Redemption In The Orphanage Away By Ibsen
Ibsen uses the orphanage as a symbolism of redemption for the Alving family. Mrs Alving
sarcastically jibes at the Captain and his treatment of his own children, Oswald and Regina, by
building a safe space with absent parents. The irony is emphasised, that Mrs Alving also failed to raise
her son, believing he would be better off without her father, if that meant sacrificing her own time
with Oswald. She moralised that spending the Captain s money on the orphanage would mean Oswald
would gain nothing from his father. The tribute to the Captain eventually burned down, determining
that the deception of man is determined to fall. The symbolism of the orphanage fire flames blaze as
Oswald s illness hits a peak, emphasising that the consequences of Captain Alving s sins continue to
burn. Although Mrs Alving was absent for the majority of Oswald s life, it is an expected social
construct that a child automatically loves his parents, however Oswald examines this cultural notion
by asking his mother: Do you really hang on to that old superstition you, so enlightened in everything
else? His self centred nature becomes apparent as he discloses his mother could finally be useful to
him now that he was ill. The expected role of mother comes to attention as Mrs Alving is faced with
her final dilemma of duty versus tradition at the play s end as he asks his mother to assist with his
suicide. A modern contrast to Ibsen s portrayal of gender is Martin Crimp s masterpiece, Attempts on
Her Life. First staged in 1997 at The Royal Court Theatre, the play gathered critic s attention for
Crimp s unique and original script satirising modern society and the media. The play has since become
an international success translated into over 20 languages. The post dramatic play includes seventeen
mini narratives of characters resembling the name Anne . The play explores the contradictions
throughout society while specifically looking at gender themes. Crimp balances these symmetries
through telling numerous stories using a variety of subtext and motifs, complexity of irony and double
meaning word choice to create an elusive and ambiguous feeling amongst spectators. Crimp uses
social satire to expose the human ideals while

Hemophilia
Introduction to Hemophilia
Hemophilia is term coined by Johann Schönlein is derived for Greek and Latin words that refer to one
who loves to bleed or hemorrhage (Carson DeWitt, 2014). Hemophilia is a disorder in the body s
mechanism of clotting. In simpler terms, people afflicted with hemophilia have a risk of bleeding out
from minor injuries.
Types of Hemophilia
There are three types of hemophilia (hemophilia A, hemophilia B, hemophilia C). Hemophilia A is
more common and it is caused by a deficiency of factor VIII (Carson DeWitt, 2014). This deficiency
can vary in severity. This is why each case of Hemophilia varies in each case. Most people have
severe Hemophilia which means that the factor is functioning at a hundredth of what it should be. ...

Hemophilia like many diseases doesn t have a cure at the moment. There are treatment plans available.
A doctor will prescribe transfusions usually. Factor replacement therapy injects the missing factor into
the system which immediately provides the missing blood clotting factor the afflicted person is
missing. These transfusions can be made from human blood or blood from an animal. When the
transfusion is from a human, the proteins extracted for the transfusion are sterilized to prevent any
blood related diseases. When the transfusion is taken from an animal, the factor desired to be produced
is injected into the animal, so it can then produce large amounts of it. After that, the factor is extracted
and it is then stabilized so it can be used in humans. The reason why a doctor must be seen for
hemophiliacs to be treated is that, hemophilia varies in severity from case to case. This is because
every person produces a different amount of the blood clotting factor. One hemophiliac may produce
15% of what a normal person produces while another hemophiliac may produce only 1% of what a
normal person produces (HoG) . The amount and regularity of transfusions depend on severity of

Individualism In 1984
George Orwell published his political fiction novel titled 1984 in the year 1949 (Michiko Kakutani).
This thought provoking story proved groundbreaking for its time of publication due to the serious and

As CEO if I were to deny the offer, I would be putting a lot of trust into the potential of the company

perspective I would be happy if the offer was denied, simply because the culture instilled within
Giganet is one of mutual benefit and teamwork. Currently the employees know that the harder they
work to make Giganet a success, the more wealthy they will get. Knowing that momentum is with
them and that an acquisition would only change the dynamic of the job, I assume that employee would

Comparing and Contrasting Shelley s Frankenstein with Brook s Young Frankenstein
The 1818 book Frankenstein by Mary Shelley and the 1972 movie Young Frankenstein by Mel Brooks
both portray the differences in feminism regarding the cultural times through the character of
Elizabeth. When Mary Shelley wrote the book Frankenstein, she was on a mission to pursue equal
rights in education for her daughter. In Shelley s time, the only way to show feminine empowerment
was to be literate and well poised, which readers can see in certain passages featuring Elizabeth in
Shelley s book. In the 1970 s, when the movie Young Frankenstein was made, female empowerment
was emphasized with a movement called lipstick feminism , which encouraged women to ... Show

By Elizabeth being so engrossed in keeping a good appearance and not even hug or kiss her husband
goodbye, she demonstrates that she is more important than any man, even her lover. Also in this scene,
her voice is noticeably louder than Frankenstein s as she proclaims her love for him, hinting that
because he is so captivated by her beauty, she has the upper hand, a common trait sought to be
depicted by many women in the 70 s. Just like in the novel, Elizabeth takes a backseat during most of
the plot but obviously misses her soon to be husband, just as the novel Elizabeth did. Contrastingly,
the film s Elizabeth is able to make a trip to Europe to see Frankenstein and to be with him. However,
when she arrives, she is seduced by the monster. This act demonstrates Elizabeth s free will and
unwillingness to hold back her feelings due to a societal norm that she must stay with the man who
she has been engaged to, as it is her personal choice to be with the Creature. As the audience
discovers, Elizabeth is truly only attracted to and falls in love with the Creature because he is
physically well endowed and attractive. Lipstick Feminism shows that outward sexuality empowers
women, which is probably what was demonstrated with the love story between Elizabeth and the
Creature. Elizabeth and the Creature end up marrying, again portraying her free will and ability to
break away from cultural standards with

Essay On Goneril In King Lear
Goneril in King Lear perfectly exemplifies with this quote how being overly credulous can lead to the
downfall of a character. Trust is a complicated issue; people want to believe what others say, and yet it
becomes harder to believe as they are let down time and time again. It also manifests itself in many
forms, such as mistrust of self or mistrust of others. Trust is a common thread throughout all human
history, and yet it has continually proved to be the downfall of everything ranging from great empires
to even the smallest of relationships. King Lear gives insight into all these themes, with characters
mistrusting themselves, mistrusting each other, and the downfall of as something as large as a
kingdom and as small as half of a family. From the start, the play presents a man with the most
powerful title King Lear himself being confused by trust. Riddled with lapses of dementia in his old
age, he invents a little game to divide his kingdom, where his daughters profess their love to him to
earn their fair share of the land. Lear fools himself into believing that his two eldest daughters love
him, and is incredulous to find out that his favorite daughter does not profess her love as grandly as
the other two did. Lear continually fools himself into trusting his daughters, when he tries to visit
Goneril, keep his knights, and resorting to visiting Regan. His dementia has brought him to the point
where he wants to trust those close to him, but in the end, he is the

Guise Of Feminism In Hawthorne s Young Goodman Brown
Guise of Feminism Some authors may not even realize how equality can easily be thrown off and as a
result have a negative effect on books and readers who notice it. We as readers of, tend to not
completely grasp the presence of the anti feminist society. Feminism, or equality of the sexes, can be
seen in Nathaniel Hawthorne s text as he portrays women as innocent, powerless, and non influential
indivuals. Not only does feminism play a role in the painted society of Young Goodman Brown, but
also in countless societies today. The exact meanings of the characters actions, are not completely
understood unless the main focus is kept on this specific lense, feminism. It can help to make the
logical assumption that this is in fact an anti feminist text by understanding the different scenes and
how they are associated with feminism. It is recognizable that most women are lead by what men
choose based upon Faith being viewed as an object, the anti feminist idea dealing with only men
killing off family members and elder men using power over innocent women, and the other women
characters representing significant figures in religious society but characterizing them as unimportant
and even evil in the short story. As previously mentioned, women were almost forced to follow the

Persuasive Essay On Legalization Of Marijuana
Marijuana or cannabis has many names, and more specific names can give you information about a
specific strain of marijuana such as blue dream and Sour Diesel. In most cases when speaking about
marijuana, generally it is often referred to one of its more vague names or slang, such a pot, ganja,

rewards that come with it. Some states and cities in the US have legalized and regulated this plant
which also helps fuel those economies. Places such as Colorado and Washington state have benefited
from the regulations on the plants, but this may also lead other states or cities to adopt similar laws

E Commerce Security Threats And The Solutions Essay
During the early 1960 s, E Commerce businesses conducted electronic transactions via primitive
computer networks but the way these transactions were exchanged provided little to no
security(34).This made online transactions on WWW(World Wide Web), not reliable and unsecured
making consumers eager to not take the chance of risking their information, on an unprotected system.
During the early 1960 s came Electronic Data Interchange(EDI). EDI replaced traditional mailing and

What Is The Purpose Of Walt s Ideal
The purpose of ideals in terms of how we live our lives is to act as a guide for how we should behave
and to help us to get back on the path when we have strayed from it. Therefore, we are not hypocrites
when we stray from our ideas because they are, as we labeled them, ideals, not realities. Furthermore,
each person has a different ideal and I would argue that people are only hypocritical when one judges
another for not meeting his/her ideal. This can be seen quite well with Chris and his father, Walt. Chris
and Walt are both hypocritical of each other because each judges the other for not meeting his ideal,

Self Reliance By Ralph Waldo Emerson Analysis
From Ralph Waldo Emerson s essay Self Reliance , I drew a genuine sense of self. The essay taught
me the value of the autonomy, its connection to the individual, and its role in society. Emerson s initial
assertion of thinking for oneself and the encouragement of personal experience over knowledge
gained from books both puzzled and amused me. As Emerson continues, his defense for the common
man s value and the evolution of humankind for the better introduced an unfamiliar sense of gratitude
towards my fellow man that I had never experienced before. The final third of this essay inspires me
to be a leader rather than a follower, especially after the denunciation of the one thing that inhibits me
most in this life: the fear of failure. Self Reliance offered me an unexpected, but pleasant encounter
that engaged me in a manner I had not yet undergone. To believe your own thought... is genius which
is amusing because technically we are reading his thoughts (Emerson 1). So, should we accept them as
our own or try to think for ourselves. Either way, Emerson could not have phrased it any better.
Modern society values individuals of the highest caliber in the fields of athletics, art, and intellect, but
also forces is to be passive in our thinking instead of speaking our minds and furthering our own
scholastic experiences as well as the ones of those around us. Moses, Plato, and Milton are revered for
their unconventional thinking because they were brave enough to speak up (Emerson 1). Because of
their courage, they are recognized as remarkably influential leaders in their respective fields, but it is
nothing that the common man cannot do. The people who belittle the personal intuition of their peers
just because it is different than theirs and, instead, choose to rely on others opinions lack the inventive
power necessary for bold individualism. Their absence of conviction results not in different ideas, but
in the acceptance of the same old, boring ideas that their peers may have initially intuited. When
Emerson said that we recognize our own rejected ideas in every work of genius, I could personally
relate to that and it left me thinking that I should speak up more often in Mr. Kelly s class. For in

Happy Life Essay
A Happy Life That I Once Thought Was Impossible
I believe that an ideal life is mostly based on happiness. It took me a while to discover what truely
makes me happy because in my childhood, I perceived happiness as something unreachable by
mankind. Especially, because of my struggle. We live in a world of so much problems and crisis. And.
. . I come from a place that s full of it Africa. If we think of it, real happiness doesn t come to us in an
easy way. I agree with Tzu s definition of happiness in his book: a desire or a fortune that remains
eternity. According to Tzu, happiness is a fortune just as wealth and fame. Just to be honest, I had once
thought that an everlasting happiness I unattainable. But, that was before I discovered that self
satisfaction and contentment results in a happier life. I achieved my happiness after I went through
some situations and circumstances that hit my life for good. Before I share my story, I d like to make a
salient point that God is the bedrock of the overflowing fountain of happiness that prevails in my life.
Through prayer and hard work I achieved an indescribable life of so many blessings and it all
happened in the year 2014.
Just like I said, the year 2014 was a blessed year of my life. God gave me an opportunity to live a life
full of so much fulfilment and happiness. During that year, I was able to overcome a lot of
circumstances. For a long time I had hoped for things to get better after I lost my dad. Things began to

still being written. Reflecting on all we have achieved together, and on the infinite possibilities ahead,
I am confident that it will be one for the ages (Who We Are). Coca Cola was created in 1886 in
Atlanta, Georgia when Dr. John S. Pemberton created a flavored syrup, took it to his pharmacy and
mixed it with carbonated water. His partner, Frank M. Robinson is credited for naming it Coca Cola
which it is still called today. The name refers to two of its main ingredients: coca leaves and

The Effects Of Anticholinergic Medications On The Body
Abstract
This paper will be exploring two main topics with the first being sympathomimetics which are drugs
that produce physiological effects of the sympathetic nervous system by promoting the stimulation of
the sympathetic nerves. We will be considering how the process of stimulation from sympathomimetic
drugs occur and how they affect the sympathetic nervous system and what medications that can
promote or inhibit a sympathomimetic response. The second topic being anticholinergics which are a
type of drugs that block the action of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine in the brain. This paper will
explain and show what effects anticholinergic medications have on the body in terms as to what
receptors are being used and how they are defined and what effects and side effects can occur from
anticholinergic medications. Along with these topics we will take an in depth look at how
sympathomimetics medication has potential side effect with children with attention deficit disorder
(ADD) and how children with known sever cardiac problems like arrhythmias should not receive
stimulants due to their sympathomimetic effects.
Sympathomimetic Anticholinergic Medications Sympathomimetics is a clue as to what is affected by
using sympathomimetic medication. The sympathetic nervous system is of direct effect using this type
of medications. But what is sympathomimetic? Sympathomimetic drug is any chemical that either
directly stimulates adrenergic receptor or promotes increase

A Large Right Whale On Tohunga Beach
A large right whale was stranded on Tohunga Beach. Efforts to save it by volunteers from Project
Jonah were unsuccessful. The Tohunga Council wanted to get rid of the corpse as it was starting to
smell and the tourist season was approaching. Preliminary investigations proved that towing the whale
out to sea was impractical, given its size and weight. After some discussion the council decided to
blow it up with explosives and rely on the tide to remove the pieces of whale.
Enola Gay was contracted by the Council to do the job. Enola obtained all the necessary clearances
required under the Resource Management Act and the consent of the Department of Conservation.
This was Enola s first time to blow up a whale. His previous experience was ... Show more content on

The probability of harm is high, because generally explosions are considered to be dangerous in many
situations, especially exploding a whale where Enola has no previous experience. He is willing to take
a high risk in return for higher profit margin. When probability of harm is high, higher standard of
care is expected from Enola because he does not know what might happen if he explodes the whale.

Emily Grierson Insanity
A Rose for Emily , by William Faulkner, pursues the story of Miss Emily Grierson s life during and
after the death of not only her father, Mr. Grierson, but her love interest, Homer Barron. In the
occurrence of the deaths, Emily s behaviors are classified as insane, meaning she is in a state of mind
preventing normal perception, behavior, or social interaction. (Koshland 931). An abounding amount
of events develop to prove Miss Grierson s insanity. Emily s lonesome emotions and strange behaviors
expose Emily as distant and quiet when interacting with others, revealing her insanity throughout the
story. Most of the time, insanity is noticeable as crazy or weird, but in Miss Grierson s case, insanity is
pure loneliness. Short after the death of Emily s father, the townspeople arrive at the Grierson
household to retrieve the body of Mr. Grierson, only to find Emily in denial. Miss Emily met them at
the door...with no trace of grief on her face. She did that for three days...she broke down, and they
buried her father quickly, (Faulkner 27, 84). Daniel Koshland explains the reason of ... Show more

If that s what you want. But the law requires you to tell what you are going to use it for. Emily has a
simple reply of, for rats, (Faulkner 42, 85). After Emily buys the arsenic, she goes back home to
prepare for the killing of Homer. Not much is said about Homer s death, and there simply is not much
to talk about when it comes down to what exactly happened. And that was the last we saw of Homer
Barron. And of Miss Emily for some time, (Faulkner 47, 86). After the death of Homer, Emily hides
herself away, exhibiting the same behaviors as she did after the death of her own father. Miss Emily
starts showing insane behaviors by distancing herself once again. Emily s emotions force the
townspeople to believe she wants no help from them, making the townspeople to feel bad for Miss

  • 2. Why Men Still Can t Have It All By Richard Dorment In the essay Why Men Still Can t Have It All by Richard Dorment, the topic of equality in the genders is explored. This topic includes various aspects of the lives of men and women, including work in and out of the home. Dorment responds to other opinions and viewpoints and explains why no one can have it all. He brings up many convincing arguments that show why the feminist push for equals rights for women is not producing the outcome that people want it to have. I agree with what much of Dorment is saying in this essay, and the following paragraphs will explain Dorment s argument. To start the essay, Dorment asks the question of whether it is better to be born a boy or a girl in today s society. He says it is a toss up, and gives a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Here, Dorment says that one s feelings cannot be used as evidence of an injury. He also gives an example from his own life. He and his wife share laundry duty, but when he folds the laundry, his wife does it again. When he asks why she does this, she tells him he folds the laundry wrong. He makes the point that women want to be helped and supported more around the house, but tell men that they are doing things wrong. I can see where Dorment is coming from with these points. In today s society, people base too many arguments on feelings, instead of facts, truth, and evidence. The feelings of expectations for the house are not men s fault, nor are men the cause for women s hardship in this area. Men and women also have different opinions and reactions to leaving the house for work, Dorment says. Men today want to be better fathers than men in previous generations, men still feel like they have to provide for the family, even if they have wives that bring in forty five percent of the family income (Dorment 709). This is why men feel as though they can work long hours away from home. They feel as though they are sacrificing time with their kids to provide for the family (even though they may still miss their kids). Women, Dorment points out, have a different reaction to leaving their kids to go to work. They feel guilty and experience ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Cora is their housekeeper and looks after their youngest daughter Jessie. Cora lost her only child soon after it was born so the Studevant s daughter, Jessie, became like a daughter to Cora. As Jessie grows, she falls and love and becomes pregnant. Cora encourages her love and her pregnancy. However, Jessie mother refuses to allow her daughter to have the child and Jessie has an abortion. Jessie eventually dies of grief. At her funeral, Cora s increasing anger finally is voiced. She cries, They killed you, honey. They killed you and your child. I told em you loved it, but they didn t care. They killed it before it was... (Langston, 7). Cora is removed from the funeral by force and she gathers her belongings and leaves the Studevants for good. This paper will discuss the possible consequences of Cora s outburst and whether it was worth it to express herself so abruptly. Although Cora waiting until most of the funeral was over, her uproar still took place while the Studevant s home held mourning family and friends. Cora allowed her feeling, as just as they may be, to overwhelm her and to cloud her mind. The very nature of her speech was spontaneous. We can see this because her comments are directed toward Jessie, not her mother, and not those who attended the funeral. Cora is overcome with greif and anger, which causes her to act out. They ... They were seen as the weaker gender because they were not as wise as men were and they were not as strong as men were; many times seen as incapable of taking care of themselves and their children. Women were good at what they did within the household and it was believed that they were born to be in that domain. Women were kept in the private spheres, which lacks societal life but that sphere is where they have their authority. • 5. Examples Of Metaphors In The Convergence Of The Twain Pride, a human flaw, creates destruction and the insatiable desire for more. It leads to testing nature and eventually to downfall. On April 14, 1912 the Titanic and its unsinkable pride collided with an iceberg. The people onboard noticed the Iceberg too late to avoid it. In The Convergence of the Twain , Thomas Hardy expressed his belief that fate brought down the Titanic due to human pride though his descriptions of the ship and its people and his descriptions of nature and the iceberg. Hardy uses metaphors, personification, and irony to prove the ship s fate was set as soon as humans believed her greater than nature. By comparing the ship to beautiful inanimate objects, the reader can see the destruction and uselessness of beauty. The Titanic is jewels in joy designed to attracted the sensuous mind. The Titanic, beautifully crafted by thousands of hands and great patience stunned and mesmerized the human mind just as jewels do. The ship s beauty did not aid it in the end. The ship now lie[s] lightless with all it s shine bleared and black and blind. This beauty s final destination ends in the cold ocean waters lying useless and dull as fated. People created this ship with an enormous pride that even the ship could not contain it, its crown set too high. It tested nature with its vanity and nature retaliated. Hardy criticizes the ship on her pride, where she only has herself to blame. Hardy uses personification to give the ship life and personality. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Duran represents one of the hardest punchers in boxing history, and the best middleweight that has ever fought. He is one of the most experienced and successful boxers inside and outside of the ring. Boxing is a sport that provides excellent physical condition, because its high intensity exercises all muscles at the same time. It increases muscular tone, cardiovascular capacity and overall body strength. One of the principal benefits of boxing is the capacity to increase muscular tone. Boxing doesn t create bulky muscles, instead it provides well toned muscles due to the constant movement. By punching and moving around, muscles are exercised at all times, which is very different from other sports where only one muscle is exercised at a time. Exercising all muscles at once does not make them bigger, it makes them healthy and able to develop properly. Bones also play an important role in having well toned muscles. • 11. The Three Major Aspects Of Industrialization From 1865 To... There are three major aspects of industrialization from 1865 to 1920 that influenced U.S. society, economy and politics. These are urbanization, working conditions and laissez faire government. Urbanization created cities who offered large numbers of workers for new factories. In turn, more factories were built. Workers, both native born and immigrants, moved to cities looking for jobs. Industrialism and post industrialism let to a decline in patriarchy within the family because of the changes that were made to society. The birth of the Industrial Revolution had one staggering advantage, even to the most distanced and skeptical farmer: a living could be made that was not subject to climate changes. Therefore, a man could actually be assured of regular, dependable wages. This did not, however, translate into a vast emigration of farmers to the new cities. An economy based upon agriculture is altogether distinct from an industrial one. The former is dependent upon the unpredictable elements of nature and the weather, the consequences of which could lead to ruin and famine. Indispensable to this growth and development were an unprecedented surge in immigration and urbanization after the Civil War. American society was in transition. The industrial revolution meant more money and wealth for the upper classes, especially the owners of large companies. It was thought that the wealth would be invested back into new factories, so the Americans accepted this wealth distribution. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 14. Video Games Call Of Duty One of the biggest controversial cases among parents and children is, whether to allow them to play violent video games. Many people often assume that these intense games have a direct correlation to becoming a violent person. While many people agree with this, the research is not 100% accurate. This makes it very hard to find proof that a violent video game is one of the leading causes of a violent person. We are often blaming these games for a more internal complex problem. One of the leading video games Call Of Duty focuses on killing people in order to win the game. This game has over 40 million users and is the most successful franchise in all of history. In my opinion what is the fun of theoretically killing virtual people? I do not think kids should be subjective to watching this violence at a young age. These games should be geared for adults more than children. When the child is held at the age of accountability they can then decide what games are good for them. When a shooting happens many people are looking for reasons as to why it happened, many times they automatically assumed that person played violent video games. • 17. The Middle Ages And The Renaissance The Middle Ages is thought to be a time period of obliviousness by many historians, where diminutive or no developments took place. The church was the focus of attention, and rather than a logical outlook of the world, beliefs were concentrated around fallacies; on the other hand, the resurgence of education and innovations that followed the Middle Ages and was branded as the Renaissance. There have been disagreements as to whether the Renaissance is actually a isolated time period, or instead, just a great point of the Middle Ages. The Renaissance was unquestionably a distinct time period. With the ancient Greek and Roman people as their muse, it led to humanism views and stimulated man to become talented in multiple areas of life. Therefore, the Renaissance man, a man who surpassed in many areas, became protuberant. Also, the ideals of the people altered, and their religious beliefs no longer governed their lives. Developments in all facets of life effectively enhanced. Thus, numerous aspects led to the modification from the Middle Ages to the Renaissance, a time period that was indisputably dissimilar from the Middle Ages; and Civic Humanism became the forefront of this time. Throughout the Renaissance, notions and theories reformed significantly. • 25. Essay on Serial Killer Jeffrey Dahmer Jeffrey Dahmer was born in Milwaukee on the 21st of May, 1960, to Lionel and Joyce Dahmer. From a very young age Jeffrey was a normal young boy who showed no signs of any mental problems. At a very young age Jeffrey began to develop an interest in dead animals when his father found a number of dead animal bones while sweeping under the house. This didn t affect the way he behaved until when he started going to preschool. Whilst attending preschool Jeffrey was seen as a very shy boy, at the same time his interest in animals began to grow. When Jeffrey was four years old his father found some dead animal bones under the house and Jeffrey enjoyed playing with them and breaking them into pieces. In 1975 his neighbours found a dog s head impaled on a stick and an animal s body attached to a tree. According to (Masters, 1993) Jeffrey did not enjoy killing or inflicting pain towards live animals but cutting the limbs off the animal. When Jeffrey reached his teenage hood, he began having fantasies about killing and disfigure men which is believed to be why he began killing his victims. (Stone, 2006) argued that Jeffrey suffered from mixed personalities. He fantasized on having sex with copses where he most of his victims were met in gay bars and seduce them with free alcohol or money. After having sex he would usually drug his victim or stab them and then engages into sexual intercourse with the copse or masturbates over it (Miller, Vandome, McBrewster). Jeffrey would disfigure his victim s corpse into small parts and pour acid on the head to remove the flesh, where he would keep the skull as a trophy. At times he also kept his victim s heart and other body parts which he would later on eat (Davis, 1991). (Davis, 1991) argued that Jeffrey s crimes were committed because of how society rejected him. Jeffrey can be seen as a (hedonistic) serial killer, someone who gets sexually aroused while committing the murder (Holmes and Holmes, 2009). • 26. Symbolism Of Redemption In The Orphanage Away By Ibsen Ibsen uses the orphanage as a symbolism of redemption for the Alving family. Mrs Alving sarcastically jibes at the Captain and his treatment of his own children, Oswald and Regina, by building a safe space with absent parents. The irony is emphasised, that Mrs Alving also failed to raise her son, believing he would be better off without her father, if that meant sacrificing her own time with Oswald. She moralised that spending the Captain s money on the orphanage would mean Oswald would gain nothing from his father. The tribute to the Captain eventually burned down, determining that the deception of man is determined to fall. The symbolism of the orphanage fire flames blaze as Oswald s illness hits a peak, emphasising that the consequences of Captain Alving s sins continue to burn. Although Mrs Alving was absent for the majority of Oswald s life, it is an expected social construct that a child automatically loves his parents, however Oswald examines this cultural notion by asking his mother: Do you really hang on to that old superstition you, so enlightened in everything else? His self centred nature becomes apparent as he discloses his mother could finally be useful to him now that he was ill. The expected role of mother comes to attention as Mrs Alving is faced with her final dilemma of duty versus tradition at the play s end as he asks his mother to assist with his suicide. A modern contrast to Ibsen s portrayal of gender is Martin Crimp s masterpiece, Attempts on Her Life. First staged in 1997 at The Royal Court Theatre, the play gathered critic s attention for Crimp s unique and original script satirising modern society and the media. The play has since become an international success translated into over 20 languages. The post dramatic play includes seventeen mini narratives of characters resembling the name Anne . The play explores the contradictions throughout society while specifically looking at gender themes. Crimp balances these symmetries through telling numerous stories using a variety of subtext and motifs, complexity of irony and double meaning word choice to create an elusive and ambiguous feeling amongst spectators. Hemophilia Introduction to Hemophilia Hemophilia is term coined by Johann Schönlein is derived for Greek and Latin words that refer to one who loves to bleed or hemorrhage (Carson DeWitt, 2014). Hemophilia is a disorder in the body s mechanism of clotting. In simpler terms, people afflicted with hemophilia have a risk of bleeding out from minor injuries. Types of Hemophilia There are three types of hemophilia (hemophilia A, hemophilia B, hemophilia C). Hemophilia A is more common and it is caused by a deficiency of factor VIII (Carson DeWitt, 2014). Hemophilia like many diseases doesn t have a cure at the moment. There are treatment plans available. A doctor will prescribe transfusions usually. Factor replacement therapy injects the missing factor into the system which immediately provides the missing blood clotting factor the afflicted person is missing. These transfusions can be made from human blood or blood from an animal. When the transfusion is from a human, the proteins extracted for the transfusion are sterilized to prevent any blood related diseases. When the transfusion is taken from an animal, the factor desired to be produced is injected into the animal, so it can then produce large amounts of it. After that, the factor is extracted and it is then stabilized so it can be used in humans. The reason why a doctor must be seen for hemophiliacs to be treated is that, hemophilia varies in severity from case to case. This is because every person produces a different amount of the blood clotting factor. Comparing and Contrasting Shelley s Frankenstein with Brook s Young Frankenstein The 1818 book Frankenstein by Mary Shelley and the 1972 movie Young Frankenstein by Mel Brooks both portray the differences in feminism regarding the cultural times through the character of Elizabeth. When Mary Shelley wrote the book Frankenstein, she was on a mission to pursue equal rights in education for her daughter. In Shelley s time, the only way to show feminine empowerment was to be literate and well poised, which readers can see in certain passages featuring Elizabeth in Shelley s book. Also in this scene, her voice is noticeably louder than Frankenstein s as she proclaims her love for him, hinting that because he is so captivated by her beauty, she has the upper hand, a common trait sought to be depicted by many women in the 70 s. Just like in the novel, Elizabeth takes a backseat during most of the plot but obviously misses her soon to be husband, just as the novel Elizabeth did. Contrastingly, the film s Elizabeth is able to make a trip to Europe to see Frankenstein and to be with him. However, when she arrives, she is seduced by the monster. This act demonstrates Elizabeth s free will and unwillingness to hold back her feelings due to a societal norm that she must stay with the man who she has been engaged to, as it is her personal choice to be with the Creature. As the audience discovers, Elizabeth is truly only attracted to and falls in love with the Creature because he is physically well endowed and attractive. Trust is a complicated issue; people want to believe what others say, and yet it becomes harder to believe as they are let down time and time again. It also manifests itself in many forms, such as mistrust of self or mistrust of others. Trust is a common thread throughout all human history, and yet it has continually proved to be the downfall of everything ranging from great empires to even the smallest of relationships. King Lear gives insight into all these themes, with characters mistrusting themselves, mistrusting each other, and the downfall of as something as large as a kingdom and as small as half of a family. Furthermore, each person has a different ideal and I would argue that people are only hypocritical when one judges another for not meeting his/her ideal. This can be seen quite well with Chris and his father, Walt. • 43. Self Reliance By Ralph Waldo Emerson Analysis From Ralph Waldo Emerson s essay Self Reliance , I drew a genuine sense of self. The essay taught me the value of the autonomy, its connection to the individual, and its role in society. Emerson s initial assertion of thinking for oneself and the encouragement of personal experience over knowledge gained from books both puzzled and amused me. As Emerson continues, his defense for the common man s value and the evolution of humankind for the better introduced an unfamiliar sense of gratitude towards my fellow man that I had never experienced before. The final third of this essay inspires me to be a leader rather than a follower, especially after the denunciation of the one thing that inhibits me most in this life: the fear of failure. Self Reliance offered me an unexpected, but pleasant encounter that engaged me in a manner I had not yet undergone. To believe your own thought... is genius which is amusing because technically we are reading his thoughts (Emerson 1). So, should we accept them as our own or try to think for ourselves. Either way, Emerson could not have phrased it any better. Modern society values individuals of the highest caliber in the fields of athletics, art, and intellect, but also forces is to be passive in our thinking instead of speaking our minds and furthering our own scholastic experiences as well as the ones of those around us. Moses, Plato, and Milton are revered for their unconventional thinking because they were brave enough to speak up (Emerson 1). Because of their courage, they are recognized as remarkably influential leaders in their respective fields, but it is nothing that the common man cannot do. The people who belittle the personal intuition of their peers just because it is different than theirs and, instead, choose to rely on others opinions lack the inventive power necessary for bold individualism. Their absence of conviction results not in different ideas, but in the acceptance of the same old, boring ideas that their peers may have initially intuited. When Emerson said that we recognize our own rejected ideas in every work of genius, I could personally relate to that and it left me thinking that I should speak up more often in Mr. Kelly s class. I agree with Tzu s definition of happiness in his book: a desire or a fortune that remains eternity. According to Tzu, happiness is a fortune just as wealth and fame. Just to be honest, I had once thought that an everlasting happiness I unattainable. But, that was before I discovered that self satisfaction and contentment results in a happier life. I achieved my happiness after I went through some situations and circumstances that hit my life for good. Before I share my story, I d like to make a salient point that God is the bedrock of the overflowing fountain of happiness that prevails in my life. Through prayer and hard work I achieved an indescribable life of so many blessings and it all happened in the year 2014. Just like I said, the year 2014 was a blessed year of my life. God gave me an opportunity to live a life full of so much fulfilment and happiness. During that year, I was able to overcome a lot of circumstances. For a long time I had hoped for things to get better after I lost my dad. Things began to get ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

After some discussion the council decided to blow it up with explosives and rely on the tide to remove the pieces of whale. Enola Gay was contracted by the Council to do the job. • 49. Emily Grierson Insanity A Rose for Emily , by William Faulkner, pursues the story of Miss Emily Grierson s life during and after the death of not only her father, Mr. Grierson, but her love interest, Homer Barron. In the occurrence of the deaths, Emily s behaviors are classified as insane, meaning she is in a state of mind preventing normal perception, behavior, or social interaction. (Koshland 931). An abounding amount of events develop to prove Miss Grierson s insanity. Emily s lonesome emotions and strange behaviors expose Emily as distant and quiet when interacting with others, revealing her insanity throughout the story. Most of the time, insanity is noticeable as crazy or weird, but in Miss Grierson s case, insanity is pure loneliness. Short after the death of Emily s father, the townspeople arrive at the Grierson household to retrieve the body of Mr. Grierson, only to find Emily in denial. Miss Emily met them at the door...with no trace of grief on her face. She did that for three days...she broke down, and they buried her father quickly, (Faulkner 27, 84).
