- When you’re out and about — or just surfing the web — you might see, hear, or experience things you’d love to add to your blog, mobile marketing technology makes that easy by offering you a bunch of different ways to blog from your mobile phone! Let’s say you’re at a live event and want to let people know what’s happening as it unfolds. By reaching for your mobile phone, you can grab images (or even record video in some cases), and either put a post together from the WordPress mobile app, or just email one into your blog via mobile blogging.This gives you the flexibility of publishing wherever you happen to be at the time, and telling your story as it happens.
- You might also find that as you browse the web you come across interesting images, chunks of text you’d like to quote, or videos you’ve watched that might might be interesting to your site visitors. Of course, you can do this the good old fashioned, manual way, but WordPress also has a little extra feature called PressThis that does all of the hard work for you with a single click from your web browser.Mobile Blogging WordPress applications are available for: Iphone, Blackberry, Android, and Nokia phones.If your phone is not one of the above, don’t worry – you can still use m.wordpress.com – a mobile version of your dashboard that lets you easily publish new blog posts, view stats and add new links to your blogroll. Simply point your mobile browser to http://m.wordpress.com to get started!
- Before you can publish by email, you must generate a special email address. This address is unique to you and must be kept secret.
- The email subject is used as your post’s title. The body is the post’s contents. A few minutes after receiving your email, you should receive a notification email informing you of the published post’s details.Please remember to send the email to your secret email address, not to the example given in the image on this slide.
- Press This is a bookmarklet, which is a neat word for a little app that runs in your browser and lets you grab text, images and videos from the web and post them to your WordPress.com blog.
- To get started with Press This, go to the Tools section of your dashboard and drag the “Press This” link to the bookmarks/favorites area of your web browser. Once you’ve done that, it will look something like this:
- After you’ve completed that step, click on the Press This link in your browser when you’re surfing the web and see something you’d like to blog about.
- Press This will appear in a pop-up window, with options to post quotes, images or even videos without having to visit your blog. If you have multiple blogs, you will also have a drop-down menu to choose which blog you would like to publish the content in.
- Click the picture frame icon to see a selection of images on that page. Select the one you like, and click the HTML tab to edit. For videos, click the filmstrip icon.
