This document summarizes a study that examined the causes and effects of indiscipline on the academic performance of female secondary school students in rural communities in Rivers State, Nigeria. The study found that peer group influence, poor school administrative policies, and lack of parental control significantly contributed to indiscipline among the students. Specifically, the results showed that peer groups, school policies, and parental influence all had a significant effect on levels of indiscipline. The document recommends that parents be more involved in their children's upbringing, teachers be committed to their duties as role models, and that schools properly reward and punish students and teachers to improve discipline.
