For success now, in college, and
in the workplace. (Experts say
20% of those who get accepted
and can do the work will flunk out
of college or lose their jobs for
these reasons).
School and Work Wide Rules of
Conduct, Consequences
• College and business rules and procedures are
designed to make Interpersonal Interactions Safe,
Positive.
• School and workplace rules and procedures are
based on the “romantic” notions of Ethics, Civility,
Courtesy, Respect, Mutual Trust, Willfull
Obedience, replacing the old ones based on Fear
and Repression, “force majeure”.
• Consequences are supposed to be fair, escalating,
never needing enforcement upon the respectful.

• Absence
• Tardy
• Unexcused Absence and
Cutting
• Excessive Absence
• Planned Absence
• Leaving Campus

Profanity

Disruption

Electronic Devices

Cheating, Forgery*,
Theft*, Vandalism*

Fighting, Battery,
Harassment*

Weapons possession*

Alcohol, Substances*

Insubordination*
Dress Code
Clothes message should say “trustworthy,
respectful, good student”
• “rulings”: Tops, Bottoms, and how they
meet.
• Also: No “gang” or “sleaze” (trouble
message) type attire.
“Dress for success” thinking means don't
dress for the job you have, dress for the
job you want.
If you don't follow these “rules of the road”, your
leaders will not trust you enough to work with you on
what you want from them. (Would you? Would you
reward behavior that makes it difficult for you to do
your job?)
However, beyond these issues of “hygene”, there are
positive steps you can take to get better results from
supervisors and co-workers, both now, in college, and
at work later on. Read:

• The Adolescent Institution Rules and
Procedures are also based on the

Obedience, but have 2nd
chances.
• Students are expelled for similar
infractions at higher level institutions
• Professionals are censured, kicked out of
their Professional Society, fined, have
license revoked, for similar infractions.
A Word to the Wise....
There are a few additional, simple ways to spot those who
can be entrusted with power and those who cannot:
While the difference in a leaders ability and knowledge
may be slight, the pay differential is not. Don't disqualify
yourself from leadership, but be a positive force for
Ethics, Civility, Courtesy, Respect, Mutual Trust, Willfull
Obedience, and on focusing and organizing the group on
the tasks at hand.
Typical Leadership Disqualifiers:
•         No Horseplay. Studies show that the major cause of
all accidents is “innocent kidding around”.
•         Repeating a behavior that required a warning within a
few minutes or failing to immediately obey when told to
correct a minor behavioral impropriety.
• Downloading or playing of unapproved computer
games.

  • 1. Rules of Conduct, Consequences For success now, in college, and in the workplace. (Experts say 20% of those who get accepted and can do the work will flunk out of college or lose their jobs for these reasons).
  • 2. School and Work Wide Rules of Conduct, Consequences • College and business rules and procedures are designed to make Interpersonal Interactions Safe, Positive. • School and workplace rules and procedures are based on the “romantic” notions of Ethics, Civility, Courtesy, Respect, Mutual Trust, Willfull Obedience, replacing the old ones based on Fear and Repression, “force majeure”. • Consequences are supposed to be fair, escalating, never needing enforcement upon the respectful.
  • 3. Universal Rules of Conduct, Consequences (Respect issues) • Absence • Tardy • Unexcused Absence and Cutting • Excessive Absence • Planned Absence • Leaving Campus  Profanity  Disruption  Electronic Devices  Cheating, Forgery*, Theft*, Vandalism*  Fighting, Battery, Harassment*  Weapons possession*  Alcohol, Substances*  Insubordination*
  • 4. Dress Code Clothes message should say “trustworthy, respectful, good student” • “rulings”: Tops, Bottoms, and how they meet. • Also: No “gang” or “sleaze” (trouble message) type attire. “Dress for success” thinking means don't dress for the job you have, dress for the job you want.
  • 5. If you don't follow these “rules of the road”, your leaders will not trust you enough to work with you on what you want from them. (Would you? Would you reward behavior that makes it difficult for you to do your job?) However, beyond these issues of “hygene”, there are positive steps you can take to get better results from supervisors and co-workers, both now, in college, and at work later on.   • 6. • The Adolescent Institution Rules and Procedures are also based on the “romantic” notions of Ethics, Civility, Courtesy, Respect, Mutual Trust, Willful Obedience, but have 2nd chances. • Students are expelled for similar infractions at higher level institutions • Professionals are censured, kicked out of their Professional Society, fined, have license revoked, for similar infractions.
  • 7. A Word to the Wise.... There are a few additional, simple ways to spot those who can be entrusted with power and those who cannot: While the difference in a leaders ability and knowledge may be slight, the pay differential is not. Don't disqualify yourself from leadership, but be a positive force for Ethics, Civility, Courtesy, Respect, Mutual Trust, Willfull Obedience, and on focusing and organizing the group on the tasks at hand. Typical Leadership Disqualifiers: •         No Horseplay. Studies show that the major cause of all accidents is “innocent kidding around”. •         Repeating a behavior that required a warning within a few minutes or failing to immediately obey when told to correct a minor behavioral impropriety. • Downloading or playing of unapproved computer games.
