7 Marketing Strategies to Grow Your Business

  1. As mentioned, my name is Laila Hage-Ali and I am the Senior Manager, Marketing Consulting at Australian Business Consulting & Solutions.

  3. Which is the commercial services arm of the NSW Business Chamber
  4. As mentioned I am here today to talk to you about low cost to no cost marketing solutions which you can implement tomorrow to grow your business and succeed.
  5. The third strategy is to have a good brand and a compelling message. As obvious as this sounds, in our experience it is the strategy that is under invested in by businesses as most businesses are focused on hurriedly trying to get their products and services out there and actively promoting what they have to offer.
  6. A brand is more than a strong logo. A brand defines what your organisation stands for and needs to take into consideration how your target audience reacts when they come into contact with you. What feelings and images are conjured up every time your company’s name is seen and heard?
  7. A way to help you convey this point of difference is using Moore’s positioning statement. By following the process you can formulate a clear and concise Unique Selling Proposition for your business which can be used in your elevator pitch and in your marketing material.
  8. The fourth strategy I would like to share is to review your website, and to do that review from multiple perspectives
  9. From a: Technical perspective: Is it built correctly Is it on a search friendly platform Is it optimised And from your customers perspective Is it easy to use Does it have the information I’m looking for Is it tailored to me
  10. We all know content is king, and its for this reason that ive included it as my 5th solution as you are only limited by your time and resources.
  11. There are many reasons why you should build a blog, but from my perspective there are three mains reasons which are: Help show your brand as a trusted source of information Help your audience engage with a person as opposed to a company And most importantly it will help your website to be found in search results And remember, your blog doesn’t have to be just words, there are a variety of way that you can produce content that is meaningful and can be included in your blog. Google likes a variety of content on a website so it is recommended that you consider some of the suggestions we have coming up next
  12. Whitepapers and eBooks can be included in your blog, but they can also double as a lead generation tool and can be emailed or promoted to generate leads and interest straight away
  13. Video is a fantastic tool for to stand out in a crowded market. It great for educating people and connecting with them on a personal basis. The most important thing about video is that is has to be useful, about the target audience and not about you. Make sure that your video content isnt like this one.
  14. Infographics are another fantastic alternative to copy heavy content allowing you to get the same message across using images and statistics.
  15. Social media is a must for businesses, and
  16. if we had more time I would go into the different platforms, which are appropriate for different business types and how to use them to grow your business however as we don’t, my recommendation is to select a platform that is suitable for your business. So if you are a plumber, potentially reconsider your efforts on Facebook, as when a pipe bursts, no one is going to Facebook to find someone to fix the leaking tap.
  17. There are some guidelines when it comes to social media, make certain that you arent just selling your product, but that you use it as a platform to engage your audience and have a conversation with them.
  18. The other benefit of social media is that you can use it as a way to learn about your audience.
  19. As our marketing activity transitions online, the customer experience is becoming an increasingly vital to the success of business.
  20. Ensuring a superior customer experience is the role of all members of the business. From the first time they speak to someone on the phone, to how quickly their question gets responded to on Facebook to how you treat them after they purchase from you.
  21. Mapping our a customers journey with you will allow you to identify gaps in your service delivery so you can rectify, retain your client base and use them as advocates of your offering.
  22. Search engine marketing and search engine optimisation are the 8th solution and we recommend them because you don’t need a large budget, yet if managed properly can yield some amazing results.
  23. SEO focuses on generating organic traffic to your website. By optimising your online activities will help your audience find your business easily by showing up on search results when they need you most. SEM allows you to target audiences and generate traffic while your organic strategies are being optimised.
  24. SEM can extend to remarketing Remarketing helps you reach people who have visited your website or used your app. Previous visitors or users can see your ads as they browse websites that are part of the Google Display Network, or as they search for terms related to your products or services on Google. It is essentially online stalking. You can also tell Google who your preferred clients are and they will target people just like those ideal clients.
  25. Our final low cost solution is live broadcasting, which gives you the opportunity to share your current activity to a larger audience
  26. and the audience you communicate with has the opportunity to engage with you in real time. So for example you could live stream a product demonstration or focus group or Q & A session or your stand at a conference.
  27. There are two easy to use tools that you can use to facilitate your live broadcasting: Meerkat and Periscope, both of which can be integrated to your social media platforms.
