Research
Some strengths of my research is that I took screenshots of music videos in the same
genre as my music video and analysed them said what are in the video screenshots
and this is useful as I could use a similar effect in my own music video and this is
how my research helped my end product. I also watched some music videos on
YouTube to get a better understanding of the conventions in the hip-hop music
genre. I also watched some tutorials on YouTube of how to do certain effects so that
I can include the effects into my music video and put my own twist on it. Some
weaknesses of my research was that I only took one frame from each music video
instead of taking different frames from the same video to see how the frames move
onto the next frame another weakness is that with my survey I think I could of
included some more question linked more directly to the hip-hop genre and that
would have helped to improve my final product.
Planning
I think some strengths of my planning was that I thought about what product I wanted to make
and I think planning helped me design my product because when I went out to film my video I
planned out what shots that I wanted to use and I did this by looking at different camera angles
and shots and saying why the shot was used to help me gain a better understanding on camera
angles and shots. This helped because when I went out to go and film my video I knew what I
wanted and didn’t have to waste time just thinking about what shoots to get, where to take the
shots at and what clothes and props that I would need in the video. I think I could of made my
planning better by thinking more into it about why I want to take the shots in the locations that I
do and why I want the artist to wear what he was wearing this would improve my music video
because it would have ore meaning to the video. I think a weakness of my planning was that I
didn’t go too much into detail on some aspects of my music video and didn’t do as much
research as I could of done.
Time Management
I think that I managed my time well as I was able to design a tour poster and make
a music video within the time given. I believe I managed my time well because I
did some of my production outside of college such as going out to film the music
video and start editing my video using adobe premiere pro and matching the
audio up with the video so that I was already ahead and had plenty of time to edit
my music video and edit the visuals effects such as the jitter effects where I had to
mask the artist and then move him on every frame so it would give out the jitter
effect. I practised some of the effects in my experiments such as the line effects as
it took my an 90 minutes just to do this one effect and learning this effect in my
experiment helped me because It took a lot less time than it would of took if I just
learnt it with out practising and because I practised the effect it looked a lot
better as I knew what I was doing and I knew how to make the effect work ad look
good . If I had more time for this project I would try and go out and get more
footage in different locations and include some drone footage if the weather was
good. I would also add more effects to my music video as I added some effects but
I think if I had more time I would be able to add a lot more effects and make my
video even more interesting for my audience to watch
Technical Qualities
One similarity is that there is the main picture of the artist is at the top
of the poster however a one difference is that this poster has 4 photos
of the artists and my poster only has one
A similarity is that the tour venue dates are both at
the bottom of this poster and my poster that I designed
One similarity Is that the colour schemes are similar as my poster colour
scheme is black, white, brown and red and the other poster colour
scheme is grey black and white
Another difference is that the group name/ artists
name are at the top of the poster unlike mine is
just below the main image
One similarity is that this poster background colour is 2 colours
unlike mine where I've only used one back ground colour
This poster has a border around the tour dates
which I haven’t included on my poster
Technical Qualities
One similarity is that both music
videos use this line effect which is very
common in music videos
Another similarity is that both
the artists arte wearing similar
clothing as they both have plain
jumpers on and they are both
wearing similar hats
Another similarity that
these music videos have
in common is that they
were both filmed on days
which weren’t the best
day to film
One difference is that the artist in this video
has a microphone in the video and in the
video I produced I didn’t include a
microphone
Another similarity is that they were both filmed in very similar
locations such as mine was filmed in a park and the other video was
filmed in a car park
Aesthetic Qualities
I think that the cartoon on my album
poster looks good because it is very
simple and I think this was creative
because I had to make the artist look
like a cartoon then add some effects
and outline onto the artist
“The youth tour” looks
good as its fits in with
the colour scheme and I
believe that it works
well with the poster and
the colour of the font
match the border
around the artistI like the “Finzy” in big bold red
writing because it stands out
and it catches the audiences
attention an das well if fits in
with the image of the artist
with the red outline
The tour dates are at the
bottom of the page and I like
the way that the dates are in
white and the venue/location
is in grey
To improve my poster I
would have chosen
another font and add
more detail and more
effects to the poster to
try and make it look
better and try and
attract my target
audience more
Aesthetic Qualities
I think this glitter effect looks good and I think its
creative as I made the artist in the music video
jitter about and it gives it a good and an effective
effect.
This effect in the music video looks good as the sky
has changed colour and through the effect the sky
still changes colour and I think this is creative as
well it has rain on the camera lens which I think
adds to the effect and make it look even better.
This looks good in my video where I overlaid the
video track onto the current video track. I think
could look better if I chose a better video track to
overlay and that isn’t as simple as the one that I
have used. In hip-hop music videos it is very
common for video overlays to be added and it is
very conventional.
Audience Appeal
“Finzy” in big bold
writing stands out to the
audience because its big
and bold and the colour
red catches the
audiences attention and
the colour red could also
links into the artists
passion for music and as
well as that the colour
stands out well and it
easy to be seen by my
audience
This brown/gold colour
links into the artist being
wealthy and having power
which links to my
audience because most
rapper rap about money
and power and it is very
conventional in hip-hop
songs
I’ve called the tour “The Youth
Tour” to target my audience
because the artists name is “Finzy
The Youth” and his main target
audience are “youths” so
therefore that’s how the tour
name targets the audience
One way I targeted my
audience was to include a
main image of finzy at the
top of the page and he’s
wearing a jumper which has
his name in it so the
audience can recognize him
easily and if they don’t
know what he looks like
then they will see hi name
on the jumper
The concert dates are placed at
the bottom of the poster and
links to the audience because
they can see if there's a concern
near them then go and watch
the artist
At the bottom of the page is
the website where you can
buy tickets for the concert
Audience Appeal
To appeal to my target audience I have started by having the
artists name and the name of the song right at the start of the
video so that people know who is singing the song and they
also know what the song is called. I chose to have the artists
name bigger than the song name as then it will stand out to
my audience and as soon as they see it and then know who the
artist is straight away
To appeal to my audience I added in this jitter effect right at the
start of the video because this will catch the audiences attention
right at the start of the video which is essential so that they watch
the whole video and they aren't bored of the video right at the
start or even throughout the video. I chose this effect because
similar effects like this have been used before in other hip-hop
music videos so therefore It fits in with the genre conventions and
it is also an interesting effect that will catch the audiences
attention
This line effect that I have edited into the music video appeals to
my audience because this is a very common effect used in all
hip-hop/rap videos and because my audience are hip-hop/rap
fans then this will appeal to them and it also fits in with the
genre conventions. When I used the line effect I mainly used the
main colour as red as I thought this colour went best with my
video the colour is bright and stands out very well

Feedback
Feedback 1
• What did you like about the product?
I like the effects and the transitions that you used in
your product.
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
I can’t think of any improvements that you could of
added to your product apart from maybe include
some different locations
Feedback 2
• What did you like about the product?
I like the effects and the transitions that you used in
your video.
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
– Use different locations instead of just one.
Feedback 3
• What did you like about the product?
• The editing on the reverberating lines bouncing
about from the singer were very well edited and
added a lot of colour to the dark scenery which
also worked very well with the music
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
– There were a couple issues in the video where the
audio jumped and the visuals bounced a bit too much.
Peer Feedback Summary
• What do you agree with from your peer
feedback?
I agree with my feedback of using different locations and if I had
more time to film the video and people were available then I
would have gone to different locations and I would have also used
different shots such as using a drone to get a drone shot. I agree
that the audio was a bit jumpy at one point but this was to block
out some explicit language
• What do you disagree with from your peer
feedback?
I disagree that the visuals were a bit bouncy as this is common in
hip-hop videos and is quite conventional to the genre which is why
I chose to have my music video this way
Peer Feedback Summary
Some changes I would have made is to use different locations as this would have made
my video more interesting and made the video more enjoyable to watch. I would possibly
include a mansion / nice house and expensive cars so that it will inspire and motivate my
audience and it also suggest the artists has power, wealth and successful. I would have
also added some drone shots to the video as these shots are common in music videos
and they’re common in videos because people enjoy watching these drone shots so
therefore I know that people like these kind of shots and it would have gone well with my
music video.
