1. Get Close to Your Subject

- Don’t be gross, but the closer you get to the subject, the
better.
- Also, be mindful of shadows and reflections when
taking close up pictures unless it’s purposeful and
obvious.

2. Don’t Filter, Simply Edit
- Take a variety of pictures to get the right light, angle and
composition – and remember to think “square”.
- Then, edit your images (with your phone or apps) to
adjust brightness and contrast. Use a filter only if it’s
absolutely better with it.

3. Crop Your Images, Don’t Zoom In.
- Preserve the quality of your image by cropping your
image within Instagram.
- Using your camera zoom can really make your image
look pixelated and fuzzy. Not good for Instagram.

4. Turn Off the Flash, Please.
- Most smartphones have amazing capabilities but the
flash function hasn’t really evolved to make people look
awesome. If you have an awesome flash function that
doesn’t make people look like aliens, great!

- If not, most phones will adjust automatically to low
lighting. If you can get a good image without the flash,
go for it. Otherwise, maybe the moment is meant to be
just for you…

5. Use The Power of Light.
- Sure, that sounds corny but without light none of us would
have any pictures. It can be the difference between getting
a stunning image and one that’s a dud.
- Lighting communicates messages, moods, feelings, etc.,
so know where your light is coming from...even if it’s just
a flicker.

6. Test Out Some Apps.
- There are so many apps available that can make you
look #insta_good without you having to do much more
than touch your screen.
- Try a variety of apps to use for images, create galleries
and even edit video right inside the app. Use ones that
communicate your brand message the best.
