Definition
Narrative elements are the key ingredients
found in most stories. They include:
–   Characters
–   Setting
–   Plot
–   Conflict/Resolution
Characters
• Characters are the people or animals in a
  story.
• Stories can include only one character or
  multiple characters.
• Stories are often told from the perspective of
  one or more of the characters.
Setting
• The setting is the actual location (inside,
  outside, on another planet, etc) where the
  story takes place.
• Setting can also include the time period (past,
  present, or future) where the action occurs.
• A story can feature only one setting or
  multiple settings.
Plot
• The plot tells about the events in a story.
• The plot moves the story along from the
  beginning to the middle to the end.
Conflict/Resolution
• Most stories include a conflict and a resolution
  as part of the plot.
• The conflict is the problem or problems that
  the characters encounter in a story.
• The resolution is how these problems get
  solved.
