What is a Fairy Tale?
• Fairy tales are a specific genre of story. They
  typically are old stories passed down by word
  of mouth for hundreds of years.
• In many cases, nobody knows who was the
  original author.
Characteristics of Fairy Tales
Often fairy tales include:
  – Royalty (princes, princesses, kings, or queens)
  – Dragons, elves, fairies, etc.
  – A kind character (usually the main character)
  – A wicked character (who usually mistreats the
    main character)
  – Character who go on wild adventures
  – A happy ending (“They lived happily ever after…)
