WHAT IS A MULTIMETER
A multimeter , also called tester or
tester is a portable instrument to
directly measure active electrical
quantities as current and potential
( voltage ) or passive as resistors, and
other capabilities .
The measurements can be made for
direct or alternating current and various
measuring ranges each. Then there are
analog and digital have been
introduced whose function is the same
( with some added variant)
Functions
It is a very versatile device , which is based on the use of a
measuring instrument , a sensitive galvanometer is used for all
determinations . To measure each of the electrical quantities , the
galvanometer must be completed with a specific electrical circuit
will also depend on two characteristics of the galvanometer : the
internal resistance ( Ri ) and the inverse of the sensitivity . The
latter is the intensity , applied directly to the terminals of the
galvanometer , it causes the needle reaches the full scale.
When measured in direct current , usually red the greatest
potential (or potential + ) and black color, the lower potential (or
potential -) .

The significance is incalculable, because by using the
measured and indicated electrical quantities such as
current, charge, potential energy, or the electrical
characteristics of the circuits , such as resistance,
capacitance , inductance and capacitance . Also for
recognizing the cause of faulty operation in which
electrical appliances , as is well known , it is not possible
to see its operation in a visual form , as in the case of a
mechanical device

WHAT IS A MULTIMETER A multimeter , also called tester or tester is a portable instrument to directly measure active electrical quantities as current and potential ( voltage ) or passive as resistors, and other capabilities . The measurements can be made for direct or alternating current and various measuring ranges each.
