Carbon capture and storage technology promises to deliver fossil energy without carbon dioxide emissions. It can capture and permanently store carbon emissions from power plants and other concentrated sources of CO2, which may be critical for lowering carbon in the energy system. Several large-scale demonstration projects are now under construction or operating in the US, Canada, Europe, and China.
