Sian Davies from CEWEP submitted comments on the Green Paper "Energy" regarding waste-to-energy. The comments noted that waste is a very available resource that contributes to energy security. Improving waste-to-energy infrastructure and supporting investments in higher efficiency plants would increase their contribution to climate protection. Waste-to-energy was also described as the most cost-effective renewable option, costing between €7-€20 per ton of avoided CO2 compared to €80 per ton for wind and over €1000 per ton for photovoltaic.
