Alveda King once stated, Racism springs from the lie that certain human beings are
less than fully human. Mark Twain supports this belief when he composed his novel,
The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. In the aftermath of the American Civil War, the
institution of slavery and American Southern culture was not well understood
internationally. The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn conveys Southern culture and
the social attitudes toward slavery through the plot of a young white runaway boy
named Huckleberry Finn helping a runaway slave named Jim escape to free territory
by traveling down the Mississippi River on a raft. Ever since the novel s publication,
debate amongst critics has ensued over whether Mark Twain displays his own racist
tendencies in his literary work. Twain s use of his Huckleberry Finn and Jim in the
plot along with use of social satire prove that he is not racist.

The story behind me is very long. Lots of stupid things have been done that are very
very stupid. I would say it all began 17 years ago in a hospital but, that s going to be

do the stuff that makes people mad but it is very fun for me. It was an early morning
in the month of May near the end of the day and I was in my Civics class. We were
working on our budget project and I was down in the library with a few other people.
Believe it or not I got bored really really quick. When I was walking back I was
walking on paper all the way back up to class because I was told do it so I did. When
I got back to class my teacher gave me a very weird look and didn t say a word. I

days later within the month of May, it was a cool warm night. Where everything
was perfect on how it was. No wind, a solid 78 degrees, all by a bonfire around 11 at

Abstract
Tuberculosis, commonly referred to as TB or consumption, is a dangerous pathogen
caused by mycobacterium tuberculosis (M. tuberculosis). It is the second highest
cause of death, killing off 1.5 million each year. TB victims are normally infected in
the lungs by airborne pathogens and fluids, but other organs can be targeted. There
are two types of TB: active, in which victims are infectious and show symptoms, and
latent, where victims do not show any signs at all, making TB a silent threat that
could manifest in the body without warning.

infection, although it can also be transmitted through the bloodstream and tissues.
Viral TB culminates when mycobacteria enter the airstream and attack the body,

Although macrophages attempt to engulf the bacteria and destroy them through

through damaged tissue, they can move throughout the body and infect different
areas. Inside of the body, phagocytes and T cells in the body will clump together to
surround and attack infected macrophages, but this supposedly beneficial bodily
response is actually exploited by mycobacteria, who use clumping to block all of the
macrophages at once and ultimately avoid host immune response.
TB is usually transmitted through exposure to others with active tuberculosis
infections. If the infector has active pulmonary TB and performs any action that
expels out salivary or mucous material, that material can transmit the bacteria to

Prose Edda is a collection of tales written in Iceland during the early thirteenth
century. The title is derived from the old Norse word meaning great grandmother.
Combined with the Poetic Edda, these two books make up most of Scandinavian
mythology. The author, Snorri Sturluson, was an Icelandic poet, historian, and
politician. He hypothesized a new idea of religionon how gods are created: A war
leader or king dies, and is later idolized after his or her death. For example, if a
group is going into battle, then they will pray to the leader to help with their
hardships and begin to venerate the figure.
This particular work was written in honor of nobles, for love, or to commemorate
current events. Throughout the selection, Thor and Loki in Giantland , the type of
writing used is syllabic in structure and utilizes kennings. Moreover, kennings are
periphrases that can appear as metaphors, but also are able to give the effect of
