2. Benefits of the Jewish Chicken Soup
Food is only one aspect of cultural tradition, but it is probably one of the most
prevalent. Because of the significance of food in our lives, many ethnic and
religious groups incorporate it into special occasions. Funerals, weddings, birthdays,
festivals, fairs, political holidays and religious celebrations would all loose a bit of
their sparkle without the pleasure of food. Various foods are given symbolic and even
transformative connotations. This is a universal truth in most cultures.
A very popular food with cultural significance is chicken soup. It is prepared very
differently in different cultures. From Mexico s chili spiked sopa de Fideos, to
China s gingery QiguoJi, cultures have a love affair with chicken in a pot. In
Bulgaria, chicken soup is often seasoned with lemon juice or vinegar. The Taiwan
style of chicken soup includes dried jujube fruits, tea, and other various herbs. The
Columbian version of is called ajiaco and includes sweet corn, several types of
potatoes, avocado, capers, an herb called guascas, and a dollop of cream. Polish
chicken soup is commonly served with fine noodles and sometimes a ground almond
broth called ros贸艂. In the United States and Canada, chicken soup often has
noodles or rice. The Campbell Soup Company coined the phrase chicken noodle soup
in the 1930s and it has endured to this day.
While no single culture can claim chicken soup as exclusively its own, chicken soup
is a traditional dish of the Jewish kitchen. No Shabbat,
3. Life and Poems of Kadarius Brown
A young poet who tried to make a living .John Keats lived a roughly life as a child.
He was a man who expressed his life in his poetry. Keats experienced bad life
situations, great expectations, and depression.
On October 31, 1795 an English Romantic lyric was brought forth in this world. He
was born in London, England. Keats was the oldest of four children. His mother
was Frances Keats. His father was Thomas Keats. Keats lost his parents at age
eight. Keats father, whom was a stable keeper, was killed after being trampled by
horse. Keats father death left a major impact on him. He then begins to understanding
for society that it s both a suffering and a loss, Keats father s dearth greatly disrupted
the family s financial security. His mother seemed to be so depressed and managed
to make misstep and mistakes after her husband s death. She then quickly
remarried and just as quickly lost a good amount of their family s worth. Frances
second marriage failed so she left her family and children behind in the care of her
mother. She lately returned to her children in life but her life was in tatters. In
1810 she died of tuberculosis After his parents death, Keats found solace and
comfort in art and literature . Shortly before his father s death he was attending
Enfield Academy, where he proves to be a voracious reader. He became close to the
schools headmaster, John Clarke, who served as a sort of a father figure to the
orphaned student and he encouraged Keats on his interest
4. Who Is The Antagonist In Midaq Alley
Sebastian Torres Torija
Midaq Alley
Midaq Alley by Naguib Mahfouz is the entertaining story of a unique local alley in
Cairo who demonstrates on a day to day basis the true colors of a quintessential low
class Egyptian society, in a contrast with a present day Egypt that hopes to modernize
as the end of World War II occurs. It is the characters that inhabit this alley, along
with their individual and communal stories and links that they share that excel this
novel into a state of utter glory. The relationship that the residents of the narrow alley
in the forgotten old part of Cairo hold is stronger than the reader initially perceives,
becoming at times the only mean of survival for the alley. Much of the alley s

Unfortunately for Hamida Salim suffered from a heart attack, and even though he did
not die, Salim s personality and attitude changed radically. He took a stronger
approach on his business and began to trust no one.
He entered her life at a time when she was overcome with despair. Salim Alwan
had collapsed near death after giving her a day and a half of hope for the life she
had always wanted, and now this had happened, after she had banished Abbas from
her dreams. Because she now knew there was no hope of marrying Alwan, she
renewed her engagement to the barber, even though she felt only scorn for him.
(Mahfouz, 161).
However the beauty that Hamida held would not go unnoticed and Faraj was
struck from the moment he saw Hamida in the alley as she came from her daily
walk and he attended the political rally. Faraj seemed like the ideal man for
Hamida, considering that he had the money to lure her with all the extravagant
gifts that she desired. However it is also Faraj who corrupts Hamida. Faraj finally
reveals his identity as a pimp to Hamida convinces her to join the business, and even
changing her name to Titi. Initially this caused no harm to Hamida as she was still
living in the lavish rich dream she always dreamed of.
He laughed out loud, asking, And are pimps not men too? Oh yes, my lovely young
woman, they are real men, but not like

Apply the database development cycle to a given data set
Database development creates enterprise data modeling, which forms the range and
wide ranging contents of organizational databases. There are 5 phases in Database
Development Cycle: Planning; Analysis; Design; Implementation and Maintenance.
Planning
In Planning Stage, the organization needs to know why do they need the database;
what do they want the database to do; and how are they going to make the database.
This is also where the organization will create a relevant department to handle the
project and hiring a project manager. Project manager will determine the duration and
the cost of the project.

For example, one owner can have multiple properties or one property can have
multiple owners. From the relationship I have built, the data will be shown like in
figure 8.
The purpose of Relationship is to manage two tables together that shares related
attributes. This to know whether the relation is one to many, one to one or many to
many relationship. But from above image, it shows that all tables have one to many
relationship. To know how does many look like in relationship table, it will show

The purpose of Queries is to let the user to find for a specific data or end results such

The purpose for form is to enter, edit, and interact with multiple data. In forms you
also can create buttons such as, Add, Save, Delete, Previous Records and Next
Records. It is also less time consuming for the user to enter a data. The user doesn t
have to enter data through table because the form itself has shown Add and Save

The purpose for Reports is to show the review records in systematized manner.

as collectively as contact phenomena. Contact phenomenon includes local variables
such as skull shape, size, geometry, density and mass of neural tissue, thickness of
scalp and skull, hair style, ratio of brain head weight and strength of the head neck

with females typically showing greater responses to a specific impact then males

Typically, football is the primary sport studied. This is largely due to the convenience
in the ability to place sensors and other technologies inside a helmet which do not
increase the risk of injuries for the athletes, and the large number of athletes in the
sport. For instance, six degree of freedom measurement devices have been placed
inside of football helmets so that the head acceleration measures me be obtained.
Instrumented helmets can then be used to directly measure the linear and rotation
accelerations, as well as the location of impacts without interfering with normal
sporting play [28].
Human surrogates Human surrogates include dummies and computational models.
Surrogates allow for investigation of impacts that could not be performed on human
or animal models, while additionally standardizing the contact phenomena. This
allows for the differences in response to impact to be said to be due to the treatment
conditions or impact characteristics, rather than the variations between the subject
being impacted. Dummies can be made of a variety of materials. What the dummy
is made from helps determine its reliability and accuracy of the measurements obtain
from its use. Metal head forms produce more reliable data, while biofidelic heads
produce more realistic data [15]. The most accurate biofidelic dummies are based on

Design Deficiencies
The following report answers questions on design deficiencies. It will describe three
design disasters and examine the causes of the disaster and the impact they had on
future designs. It will then discuss a design and layout case study and the setting up
of a contractor management system for a site expansion.
Tacoma Bridge Collapse
Brief Description of the Disaster The Tacoma Narrows Bridge(aka Galloping Gertie )
was opened to traffic on July 1, 1940 and was built to link Tacoma to the Gig
Harbour. The Tacoma Bridge was built with a light design which made it very
sensitive to high winds. It lacked the ability to resist the winds but rather swayed and
vibrated with the wind direction (Britton, n.d.). Due the harmonic phenomena, the
swaying of the bridge worsened (Britton, n.d.). Four months after the opening of the
bridge on November 7, 1940, there was a 70 kilimeter per hour wind storm around
the bridge area. The wind caused the bridge to sway and vibrate turbulently from side
to side, until it eventually tore the bridge apart (Britton, n.d.).
Cause of the Disaster The cause of the incident was as result of the structure of the
bridge which could not resist the wind. Rather than resist the wind directional flow, it
let the wind pass through it (Britton, n.d.). As a result, the combined force of the
winds and the internal stress in the bridge structure was far too great for what the
bridge could withstand, leading to its self destruction (Britton,

Dependence to Independence in Hills Like White Elephants
In Ernest Hemingway s Hills Like White Elephants, the lives of Jig and the
American, the main characters, are put on display for a brief period of time. Jig and
the man have had a romantic relationship for quite some time, and now their future
together is in jeopardy. The impregnation of Jig has caused the American to pressure
her into getting an abortion. We find these two individuals in the Valley of the Ebro.
Traveling from Barcelona to Madrid, the couple takes these few minutes to discuss
the future of their baby. Jig now must make one of the most important decisions of
her life to have the abortion and stay with the American, or to have the baby and end

During Jig and the American s first conversation, the girl is ...looking off at the line

[the hills] look like white elephants, she said. I ve never seen one, the man drank

the situation at hand. Blurry, distant, and white, the hills that she stares at are
representative of a pregnant woman s stomach. The white elephants are emblematic
of an item that is useless or unwanted. The white elephant in this forty minute

Hemingway s Hills Like White Elephants . ...she [Jig] ruminates that it is not so
much that the hills look like elephants as that the color of them in the sun reminds
her of the coloring of their skin (72). The association of words, from hills to
elephants to skin, followed immediately by the American s first allusion to abortion

9. What Are Natural Food Companies Unethical
Foods that are genetically engineered should not be falsely advertised as natural
because they are anything but. According to Anahad O Connor, some food
companies are telling the public that their food is natural, but the term natural is
loosely defined in the food industry. Those food companies wrongly advertising that
their product is all natural however, those who think that natural foodis that without
pesticides, hormones, artificial ingredients, and GMO are sadly mistaken. And even
though many lawsuits have been filed and the courts have requested the F.D.A.

it would cause too many issues and take too much time to pass. I believe the F.D.A.

10. Qin Dynasty Impact
The Qin Dynasty and the Han Dynasty each have significant points throughout
history where time has felt their impact that was left. It began in 221 B.C.E, when the
Qin Dynasty was traveling around lands, defeating rivals and unifying China. Shortly
thereafter, the king of the Qin Dynasty officially created, and changed, his title to
Emperor (McKay, 184). The Emperor of the Qin Dynastywas incredibly important as
he was the individual who would create the regulations, enforce reporting
requirements, and enact penalties for poor work performance (McKay, 185). It
was also during this time that a mandated census was adopted which provided a lot
of benefits including assistance of cost estimates for public works, increased tax
revenues, and more labor force that was available for building projects. A big
advantage as well was the thousands of miles of roads that... Show more content on

This was also a very important time for the emperor. He believed there was much
slander that existed so a man by the name of Lisi burned all the negative information
that anyone had, or was out, about the Emperor (McKay, 186). When this emperor
died, he installed Terra Cotta warriors in his specialty tomb to have them protect him
into the afterlife. The Qin State finally fell apart in 210 after the death of the first
emperor and failed to make an impact after. The Han Dynasty was the other dynasty.
It was led by Emperor Gaozu (202 195 B.C.E). He was a favorite here because he
did what other leaders had not done in the past, and that was to either eliminate
laws or to amend the laws to help his people. The Government of the Han Dynasty
was supported heavily by taxes, as well as forced labor of farmers. After Emperor
Wu took over in the Han Dynasty there were many other lucrative creations such as
coin minting, land confiscation, as well as the selling off important offices and

Rob and I shop at an international store that stocks food not native to North
American culture. They stock a lot of Asian foods but have a supply of Latin and
South American foods, too. We decided to use the opportunity we had and buy a
new vegetable. I picked out the yucca and looked for recipes. Because the yucca is
similar to the potato, many of the recipes I came across were alternative versions of
potato recipes, the most common one being fries. I didn t want mashed yucca or
fries though. I wanted something more interesting. Then I came across South
American recipes that actually used the yucca in alternative ways. Sweet balls,
bread and empanadas were some of my finds. I settled on a yucca bread I found on

peel the yucca. I learned the best way to peel a yucca seems to be to peel around
the vegetable instead of lengthwise. I didn t watch the clock, but I estimate the
peeling process took around 10 minutes. Next step: grate. The task wasn t
exhaustive, but it was certainly labor intensive. Unlike potatoes, yuccas have a grain
that runs the length of the vegetable. This appeared to cause the grating to take
more time. I started out grating the yucca with the larger side of my grater, but after
thinking about it, I switched to the smaller side. The original recipe had said to grate
it finely. I started out wanting to be lazy, but I wanted to keep the small amount of
the recipe s integrity that was still

Whilst watching Hoop Dreams , the respect that is held for William Gates and
Arthur Agee by the filmmakers Steve James, Peter Gilbert and Frederick Marx
within the observational documentary (Bill Nichols, 2001) is obvious, and their
decorum after the film s release remains an integral part of the film s legacy. As a
whole, documentaries often do not perform as well as their narrative film
counterparts, and so when Hoop Dreamssoared beyond expectations to make
$11.8million at the box office worldwide (according to BoxOfficeMojo.com), the
filmmakers famously gave Gates and Agee around $200,000 a piece in royalties.

As Sheila presents herself on screen as being a strong and proud woman, the
filmmakers ethically document her asking direct to camera Do you ever ask
yourself how I get by on $268 a month and keep this house and feed these children?
Do you ever ask yourself that question? The largely white, upper or middle class
intended audience for this film would be shocked by such questions appearing in
their own lives. Too many of them embraced Ronald Reagan s cartoon of Welfare
Queens and now endorse Newt Gingrich s even more vicious slanders on welfare
mothers. (Sperber, 1996) The filmmakers themselves then give Sheila the money
to pay for her utility bills in this moment of despair. This act of generosity and
kindness is exemplified in it s ethical nature, as the moment itself is never shown on
camera, but came out after the film s release. It is clear from this that it was not
done to further the image of the filmmakers, but rather to show support for a family
who had been so accommodating for the years spent making this film. That was the
kind of situation where we try to be human beings in the process, notes Steve James.

Adaptations Needed to Address Adolescents Circadian Rhythms Sleep is the fuel that
humans need to properly function. The amount of sleep people need is determined
by their circadian rhythm, or biological clock. A teenager s circadian rhythm differs
from that found in an adult or younger child. While going through puberty, teenagers
need more sleep than when they become adults. Researchers from the National Sleep
Foundation have identified several changes in sleep patterns, sleep/wake systems,
and circadian timing associated with puberty. In the last decade, a few high schools
from around the world have changed to a later start time that would better suit the
sleep cycles of their students. Studies by the National Sleep... Show more content on

The researchers found out that almost half of these tenth graders fell asleep
quickly and went into REM (rapid eye movement) sleep, the deepest sleep that
usually occurs in the middle of the night. It is a pattern that is seen in people with
narcolepsy, a sleep disorder characterized by sudden spells of deep sleep (Lawton
3). Mary Carskadon of the National Sleep Foundation says, The implication of that
was these kids did not adjust to the school start time this was fully half the group.
Their brains at 8:30 in the morning, second period if not third period were
essentially still asleep (Lawton 4). Later classes lead to better grades. Students
who said they got poor grades reported getting twenty five minutes less sleep a
night and going to bed an average forty minutes later than kids with good grades
did. Cognitive function and psychomotor skills are closely related to sleep, and
numerous studies have correlated sleep loss with significant decreases in children
and adolescents performance (Wolfson 1). Studies of middle school and high
school students reported that more sleep, earlier bedtimes, later weekday rise
times, and less daytime sleepiness were associated with better grades in school and
greater motivation to do one s best in school (Wolfson 2). Students who got less than
six hours and forty five minutes of sleep had a more depressed mood and more

The Influences of C.G. Jung
Carl Gustav Jung was influenced by literature, symbolism, religion, and the occult
From a very young age. Jung s influencs remained with him as he became a doctor of
medicine and a psychological theorist. The philosophical, the supernatural, the
symbolic, the religious, and the occult all influenced Jung s area of psychological
expertise, making Jung s psychology not only unique to Jung, but also pioneering in
the field of general psychoanalysis.
In Ernest Gallo s article Synchronicity and the Archetypes. (Carl Jung s Doctrines) ,
Gallo cites that Jung was deeply drawn to the occult (Gallo, 1994). Jung s younger

It is therefor dangerous for humans in general to ignore the unconscious. Jung
writes Not only will Ignorance of the unconscious deprive him of the religious
experience, it will also blind him to his capacity for evil, hence making possible
for this evil to be projected and depriving him of his capacity to deal with it.
(Abstracts, 1976, 10:19). Despite Jung s insistence that psychology be empirical and
phenomenological rather than philosophical or metaphysical (Abstracts, 1976, 11.1),
Jung believed that psychologists must take religion into account in the analytic
process as it represents one of the most ancient and universal expressions of the
human mind (Abstracts, 1976, 11.1). Jung s concept of meaningful coincidence is
tied to the spiritual as well. This is evidenced when At certain moments of
heightened spiritual awareness, the archetypal meaning structure that spans the mind
and the world flashes into visibility (Gallo, 1994). Jung even goes so far as to
suggest that religion is an integral aspect of the healing process. In fact, Jung asserts
that many neuroses are never cured unless the religious factor is restored. (Moreno,
1970, p. 79). Jung says that side by side with the decline of religious life, the neuroses
grow noticeably more frequent... (Moreno, 1970, p. 79). Jung explains that
examination of the spiritual side of the patient is recommended as a means of a cure.
(Abstracts, 11:35). Furthermore, Jung maintains that

The entire story is lengthened out between the time it takes Sheri to turn and Lane
to look up at her, the perspective of the story seems to be taking place from the the
inside of the protagonist s head, who is recalling events that have recently happened
so he is able to choose whether or not he is able to have the strength to accept Sheri s

reluctance to simply address their decisions on the abortions. In Hills Like White
Elephant , Jig compares the mountain to white elephants which literally means a
burden that is difficult to communicate and share; the white elephants figuratively
represents the problem about the abortion (Hemingway 924). In Good People ,

What was happening when the dialysis bag was in the beaker? The dialysis bag s

I2KI s concentration was higher outside the bag than in the bag, so I2KI diffused
down its concentration gradient, from an area of greater I2KI concentration to an
area of lower I2KI concentration. This is shown through the color of the dialysis
bag after being placed in the beaker for 30 minutes. Originally, the dialysis bag with
glucose and starch was a clear color, but when the I2KI solution diffused into the bag,
the solution turned black because I2KI turns a solution black when the presence of
starch is detected.
In part II of the lab, potato slices (of approximately the same mass) were placed in
cups of varying sucrose concentrations. All seven cups contained approximately 50
mL of sucrose (0.0M to 0.6M, in 0.1M increments). After the potato slices were
incubated for about 24 hours, they were removed, blotted dry, and weighed. A graph
was created by the effect of sucrose concentration on the percentage change of mass
of the potato slices.
The graph/data shows that as the concentration of sucrose increases, the percentage
of change of mass decreases an inverse relationship. For example, when the potato
slices were placed in the 0.0M sucrose solution (pure water), the change in
percentage mass was 29.94%; the mass increased by 0.53 grams. The solution was

and the environment. Many of these causes are affecting seals and if it continues to
happen it can cause those seals to die or even lead to extinction. Many seal species
depend on sea ice for their survival. As global climate change reduces the extent,
duration, and thickness of sea ice, these seal species are threatened with extinction.
(Harpseals.org, Seal Conservation 2014.) Many natural impacts could have caused
Global warming. Some of the impacts consist of the sun s warmth and greenhouse
gases. With the sun, it s more self explanatory. Over time small but measurable
changes occurs in the output of the sun earth s ultimate source of warming energy.
(Mann, Michael E., and Lee R. Kump, Dire Predictions: Understanding Global
Warming 2008.) Over years and years, there has been a very steady increase in the
numbers pertaining to sunspots.Through this, the earth is getting warmer and studies
and data suggest that solar activity is very well influencing global climate
change. The second natural impact is greenhouse gases. To start off with greenhouse
gases are produced by burning fuels such as coal, natural gas and oil. The
greenhouse gases are emissions that rise into the atmosphere and trap the sun s
energy, heat from escaping. Flint states, Global warming is the increase in the earth s

December 9, 2004, a journalist pens letters of goodbye to his wife and three
children; and one day following shoots himself in the head, leaving only a note on
the front door do not let yourself in call the police instead.
8 years prior, working as an investigative journalist for the San Jose Mercury News,
Gary Webb accused the CIA of supporting and funding the trafficking of crack
cocaine in a three part series called The Dark Alliance.
Webb claimed, Thousands of young black men are serving long prison sentences for
selling cocaine a drug that was virtually unobtainable in black neighborhoods before
members of the CIA s army started bringing it into South Central in the 1980s at
bargain basement prices. This claim outraged ... Show more content on

Consequently, they came to the conclusion that the claims Webb made are absurd.
Jeff Leen, a journalist for the Washington Post stated in 2014, Webb s story made the
extraordinary claim that the Central Intelligence Agency was responsible for the
crack cocaine epidemic... What he lacked was the extraordinary proof.
Malcolm Klein, director of the Social Research Institute at the University of Southern
California told the Washington Post that, ...idea that Blandon and Ross alone could
have launched the crack epidemic is contradicted by...the nature of the cocaine trade
and the emergence of crack...
Washington Post claims, Blandon s own accounts and law enforcement estimates say
Blandon handled a total of only about five tons of cocaine during a decade long
career...during the 1980s... more than 250 tons of the drug were distributed every
year, according to official and academic estimates.
During Blandon s decade long career, the 5 tons of cocaine people snorted up their
noses, is a small percentage towards the 250 tons distributed every year. Nonetheless,
he could have just introduced crack, and allowed usage to become
22. How Clothing Represent Your Identity
It is said that a picture is worth a thousands word, the same can be said about
clothing. Out of the hundreds different shape, color, size and styles of clothing we
make a choice what to wear everyday. Clothing can be a complex form of nonverbal
communication, just like hand signs your clothes carries various meanings. To you
your clothes embody your ideas, interest and beliefs. But what you see and others
see will not be the same because everyone has their own background and beliefs. The
1988 1989 Detroit Pistonsillustrate how clothing represent your identity. When
people usually associate nonverbal communication with hand gestures, facial
expressions and behavior. Dress is another form of nonverbal communication that can
also present a message just as effective. Unlike the other forms of nonverbal
communication dress has multiple channels that transports information to the listener
(audience). From the touch of the materials to the design on the clothing, dress
presents a dynamic way of exchanging information.Based on the collection of an
individual s knowledge and culture dress will carry different meanings to different
people.
The 1988 1989 Detroit Pistons used clothing to broadcast a message to the NBA.
The Detroit Pistons roster was composed of individual players whose one desire
was to win at any cost. Individuals such Isiah Thomas, Dennis Rodman, Rick
Mahorn, and Bill Laimbeer who would be labeled as thugs of basketball during this

23. Essay about A Raisin in the Sun
In 1959, American Vice President Richard Nixon and Soviet Premier Nikita
Khrushchev came together at the American National Exhibition in Moscow, a
showcase of American consumer goods (May 18), for one of the most noted verbal
sparring matches of the century, aptly coined the kitchen debate (16). As Khrushchev
applauded the Communist system and its hardworking women, Nixon extolled the
virtues of the American way of life (16), emphasizing America s successful
breadwinners supporting attractive homemakers in affluent suburban homes (18).
Although Nixon s emphasis upon the suburban lifestyle may have successfully
displayed America s superiority in consumer goods, Nixon grossly exaggerated the
availability of the suburban home ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A rhetorical question, borrowed from the Langston Hughes poem that serves as an
epitaph to her play and an inspiration for her title, Hansberry suggests that while
delayed dreams may dry up / Like a raisin in the sun, if ignored or suppressed too
long, they will explode (3). Although Hansberry s message, upon first glance,
appears to be a prophetic warning of things to come, a closer examination of A
Raisin reveals it to also be an artfully disguised call to action. Like the Negro
spirituals, religious songs created and sung by African slaves as a hidden means of
communication and protest, A Raisin in the Sun is a masked work of art, palatable to
a white audience, but with a concealed message intended specifically for an African
American audience.
Growing up and maturing during the McCarthy era, Hansberry would undoubtedly
be mindful of the need to exercise caution with the views expressed in her writings.
Familiarity with the experiences of family friend, Paul Robeson, and intellectual
mentor, W.E.B. Dubois, both victims of McCarthyism, certainly encouraged
discretion with regard to the written expression of radical or revolutionary ideas
(Carter 1). That she garnered inspiration from the Negro spirituals of her
predecessors and concealed a message within A Raisin is revealed early in the play.

PSEUDOCODE STANDARD Example Pseudocode is a kind of structured english
for describing algorithms. It allows the designer to focus on the logic of the
algorithm without being distracted by details of language syntax. At the same time,
the pseudocode needs to be complete. It describe the entire logic of the algorithm so
that implementation becomes a rote mechanical task of translating line by line into
source code. In general the vocabulary used in the pseudocode should be the
vocabulary of the problem domain, not of the implementation domain. The
pseudocode is a narrative for someone who knows the requirements (problem
domain) and is trying to learn how the solution is organized. E.g., Extract the next

Two keywords, REPEAT and UNTIL are used. The general form is: REPEAT
sequence UNTIL condition The sequence in this type of loop is always performed
at least once, because the test is peformed after the sequence is executed. At the
conclusion of each iteration, the condition is evaluated, and the loop repeats if the
condition is false. The loop terminates when the condition becomes true. FOR This
loop is a specialized construct for iterating a specific number of times, often called
a counting loop. Two keywords, FOR and ENDFOR are used. The general form is:
FOR iteration bounds sequence ENDFOR In cases where the loop constraints can
be obviously inferred it is best to describe the loop using problem domain

surrounding constructs. Example SET total to zero REPEAT READ Temperature IF

25. Machiavellian Folly in The Prince Essay
Machiavellian Folly in The Prince
In the annals of history, many individuals have contributed great works of literature,
waxing philosophically on the meaning of life, death, and love. Niccolo Machiavelli
wrote not on love or life, but on power: How to capture it, how to consolidate it, and
how to defend it against all comers. His work has been talked about and dissected to
the extent that his subject matter and methods have earned their own moniker:
Machiavellian. Nonetheless, this great philosopher s works did not meet with
unanimous approval. His own student, Thomas Hobbes, presented a very different
account of politics. This essay offers a Hobbesian critique of some of Machiavelli s
arguments, focusing in and around ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
2 Humans, according to Machiavelli, are not the morally grounded beings the Bible
espouses them to be. He writes in The Prince: For one can say this generally of men:
that they are ungrateful, fickle, pretenders and dissemblers, evaders of danger,
eager for gain.3 Clearly, Machiavelli argues that man is precarious a being of
dubious morals and selfish desires. Hobbes agreed with this analysis, and took it
one step further. According to Hobbes, all mankind has a restless and perpetual
desire for power, which ceaseth only with death 4. Moreover, man can never be
satisfied with the power he has. Hobbes writes:
... [man] cannot assure the power and the means to live well, which he hath present,
without the acquisition of more [power].
Man s first need is to provide security for himself. Past experience and reason
dictate that he will do this by any means necessary even if it means killing
everyone around him. Critics argue that Hobbes and Machiavelli are too
pessimistic; but they would both beg to differ. To both Hobbes and Machiavelli,
Aristotelian virtue is a deception; it can never be reached. Men do not want to be
good; they want to lie, they want to cheat, and they want to kill. To expect otherwise
would be contrary to their hostile nature. To both Hobbes and Machiavelli, political
analysis must begin by identifying the human being for what he really is a self

26. Analyze Similarities And Differences Between The Populist...
Similarities and differences between the Populist Party and Progressive reformers
In the late 1800s businesses were taking over, many groups of people were upset
with the power that business had such as farmers. They started a Farmer s Alliance
which later developed into the Populist Party. The platform for the Populist Party
included many things such as graduated income taxes and regulations of railroads.
Although the Populist Party had very little success, the Progressive reformers
wanted to continue the Populist Party s legacy. Both parties had similarities and
differences but the end goal was the same: To improve the lives of the people they
were fighting for, economically, politically and socially.

Amendment Sect 1, 1913 and 17th Amendment Section 1, 1913. (Doc C). Both
parties wanted to have more control over the people who represented them.
Another similarity between the parties was the demand for safer working
conditions. Populist had very dangerous and unfair working conditions as farmers,
with machines that were unreliable and also getting payed very little for their
products. The point of view was of poor farmers from Minnesota and Kansas who
were selling their crops for an unfair and low price. A Minnesota Farmer and a

women also wanted better working conditions. Women demanded shorter working
hours for women and children, workplace safety, minimum wage and

In Miriam Toews novel A Complicated Kindness there are many references to pop

way into the procession of kids in the town like Nomi. The films are used to

Showing that the films sneak their way into the culture shows the cracks in the town
s commitment to their faith.
Nomi wants to get out of the East Village in Manitoba and go to the East Village in
New York although she has never been and knows very little about it she has
decided that New York is the place for her to go. One of the films mentioned in the
novel is West Side Story, which takes place in the upper east side of New York City
.
This could be one of Nomi s inspirations for her desire to move to New York. This
could also add to her fascination of America overall. Nomi would often fantasize
that her father was going to Minnesota for a coffee (Toews 88) and she would go to
the border and stare at America (Toews 56). Nomi has no aspirations to move to
larger city in Canada like Vancouver or Ottawa. She has the mentality that the
American dream is what she needs to be happy; a concept that the media often
likes to show. If Nomi never had access to these films it would be more likely that
she would want to venture somewhere closer to home like Winnipeg. Since Nomi
only had minimal exposure movies that portray the idea of the American dream her
view on it is slightly twisted. She doesn t know exactly what would be waiting for
her in New York but she hopes that it would be her Mother and Sister. Another
movie that mentioned in the novel is The Sound Of Music, which is about a woman
who failed at being a nun and ended becoming a governess of

It is humbling to begin a course, thinking that having just finished an educational
leadership program there won t be many moments of new learning only to find that
there is always new learning opportunity available. Isn t that the most important
takeaway from a course focused on adult learning. Oftentimes the parallel process
between what frustrates us the most and what we experience is hard to perceive
when we are living it. Valla (2000) posits one assumption of adult learningis that a
learning a change to oneself as a result of new knowledgeand skills, not simply the
acquisition of that knowledge or those skills. In studying how adults learn: what
motivates them, what needs are and what methodology is most engaging, I have
been able to improve my professional practice. My beliefs, attitudes, and practices
related to evidence based learning and teaching not only have become more refined,
but humbled. As I now realize that in honoring adult learners, just I as wish to be
honored I am better able to open myself to their needs the way I so easily am able
with students and in turn honor my own learning needs.
Elements of Evidenced Based Learning and Teaching It was through this ten week
study of the efficacy of research based instructional strategies to meet the unique
needs of adults that as a learner, I moved from frustration with the resistance of
teachers to professional development to a deeper understanding of developmentally
appropriate responses of adults,

Understanding Ourselves in the Age of the Internet
In her book, Life on Screen: Identity in the Age of the Internet, author Sherry Turkle
explains the effect technology has on the way individuals view themselves, and how
this relates to the growth of postmodernist thinking. According to Turkle, the rapid
expansion of network technology, specifically the Internet, is responsible for
introducing millions of people to new spaces and ways of interactivity with one
another.
This revolutionary method for relating to others is swiftly changing how we view our
minds, our sexual interactions, the forms of our communities, and even our own
identities (Turkle 9). In the excerpts selected for our class reading, Turkle cites

In its most basic form, however, modernism can be most closely associated with the
traditional world view dominant since the Enlightenment, and is described in terms
of linearity, logicality, and hierarchical thought (Turkle 17). Modernist reality is
perceived as definitive and objective, defined by a firm set of rules and roles that
support a centralized narrative, or concept of truth. In this philosophy, the self is
characterized as a solid autonomous being, our most basic reality, making it simple to
identify and resist any departure from society s definition of normalcy (Turkle 261).
Within the last forty years, a poststructuralist response developed to the modernist
ideology and gained the official academic title, postmodernism. This philosophy
serves as a direct contrast to modernism, embracing the idea of a decentered, multi
faceted self that consists of fragmented but coherent parts. There is no definitive truth
to these interconnections, making reality and human identity fluid and capable of
transitioning between numerous nonlinear concepts (Turkle 17). In postmodern
reality, disjointed ideas receive meaning through their relationships to each other; the
presence of thought becoming just as significant as what is noticeably lacking. The
multiplicity of meaning and truth in the postmodern environment makes identity
opaque, allusive, and dense, but also presents the opportunity for remarkable diversity.

outperform low end PCs, because the Apple product lines typically boast more
expensive and better quality parts. Comparing Macs with higher end PCs is a little
more difficult. Generally, though, Macs have faster processors than their Windows
counterparts but tend to skimp slightly when it comes to RAM, hard disk space and
USB ports.
The kinds of connections and optical drives found on Macs and PCs also differ in
certain ways. Macs offer a pretty standard selection of such features, including a
SuperDrive (reads and writes CDs and DVDs), audio in and audio out, USB,
FireWire (data transfer), Thunderbolt (video output), Ethernet, and a magnetized
power port. PCs offer comparable features, plus a few more, like Blu ray players, TV

The Sound and the Fury, by William Faulkner, tells the story of the Compson family.
The Compson s are direct descendants of old, southern aristocrats. Largely based
upon biblical values, old southern culture has a rigid and deeply ingrained moral
code that respectable members abide by. Some of these values include familial honor,
the protection of women, men taking on the role of the familys provider, the
maintaining of virginity until marriage, women respecting men, etc. Faulkner uses
this family to display the evils and the ideals of southern culture. Faulkner deeply
loves the moral values of the American South. However, he believes that hypocrisy,
selfishness, vanity and judgment must be left behind as we move forward in the

the maternal role for her younger siblings due to her mother s cold nature and her
father s alcoholism. However, Caddy s storyline revolves around her extramarital
pregnancy and how that affects her familial relationships. The tension began when
her mother found her kissing a boy. It was said that her mother happened to see
one of them kissing Caddy and all next day she went around the house in a black
dress and a veil and even Father couldn t get her to say a word except crying and
saying her little daughter was dead and Caddy about fifteen then... (93). Her
mother s extreme reaction and judgment only pushed Caddy further away from the
strict, traditional values she was being judged by. In The Evolution of Caddy ,
Bauer writes the love and courage of Faulkner s Caddy are ultimately broken down

reader with a sense of ultimate doom (40). Soon after, Caddy became sexually

complicated than ever before. To accomplish works people had to create more expert
groups equipped with intelligent assets. For the matter of increasing workability and

Key Characteristics of Virtual Project Management
Working in virtual environment is consisted of two interrelated components:
1 Virtual Project Management Body of Knowledge (VPMBOK)
2 Virtual Project Management Technology and Tools (VPMTT)
The first point simply is about the knowledge base of a project manager in virtual
environment and the business intelligence he has. The second point is a complement
to the first one which gives the project manager enough information and expertise to
select right technologies and work with right tools to implement what he has in mind.
Very first thing in VPMBOK is to understand where to use the virtual management
model. In respond, when there is a need to work with a group of people which work
from different regional locations, different time zones, with different cultures and in
some cases with substantial inter related but independent duties, we apply virtual
project management model. Virtual model saves resources and saves time but has its
own challenges. For example, when you want to sell your product or service in
another state or in another country you have two options; first is to go the traditional
way in which you sell the product by sending request to headquarters, headquarter
sends order to manufacturing line, manufacturing line ship out product to the market
and everyone have direct physical contact. This method has very much bulking and

Animals in Captivity
Everyday people go to zoos with intentions of having a good time without realizing
they are paying for animals to be held in captivity for the rest of their lives. In recent
discussion, the decision to keep animals in captivity is a very controversial topic.
Many people are towards the decision that zookeepers should keep the wild animals
captive for the entertainment of others, while on the contrary many are against it.
However nobody has done anything to get the animals out. The people who are
against setting them free believe that the animals are living a much better life than
they would outside and that they are better for keeping entertainment for the public
but what they do not see is what happens when the zoo is closed and how they are
treated outside of the public s eye, which is what the people who are against it tend

animals are abused and hurt inside of zoos. One day a wallaby was suppose to be

Vicodin was produced in the 1920 s by German pharmaceutical company. Vicodin
was created by attaching a hydrogen atom to codeine molecules. When vicodin was
first released, the maker believed that this procedure would make the codeine easier
on the stomach and less poisonous to the consumer. According to Pernille H.

38. Teaching Mathematics and Filippino Student Performance
Rationale
Most mathematics teachers have observed that many students have poor performance
in mathematics. Classroom researches over the years show that mathematics
instruction has continuously been taught in a traditional manner wherein only a few
students understand and grasp the concepts (Winters, Cerulli, Bjork, Mor, 2006).
Teaching mathematics has been viewed as unappealing to the majority of students
and has been outdated and not connected with their interests and experiences,
bringing about poor performance in mathematics (Goodrum, Hackling, Rennie, 2001).
Comparing to international standards, the performance of Filipino students in
mathematics is far below the desired outcome. In the 2003 international exam for
mathematics and sciences, the Philippines ranked 23rd among 25 participants in
the elementary level with an average score of 358 compared to the average of 495
while for the grade 8 or 13 year old level, the country ranked 42nd among 45
participants with an average score of 377 compared to the international average of
466 (Juon, 2004). This shows the poor performance of students in mathematics.
To answer this concern, the Department of Education promulgated different means of
improving the curriculum. The latest of these changes is the DepEd Order No. 73 S.
2012. This order emphasizes on implementing the standards based assessment and
rating system to support the progressive roll out starting with grades 1 and 7 of the k

state and local governments passed tough on crime legislations. The effort the
country has made has not solved the problems they have been trying to cure. If
anything the war on drugs fueled the market for drugs and fails to help the victims of
drugabuse. The over criminalization of drug users has led to overcrowded prisons
which are paid for by the citizens of the United States. Drug enforcement policies
should be more lenient in the United States in order to better allocate tax dollars,
decrease overcrowded prisons, and regulate drug use leading to a practical plan to...

If the money was used to help people in these neighborhoods they will not need to
turn to drugs as a source of income. This solution would effectively go to the source
of the problem to stop the spread of drug use. According to the World Bank, at least
three fourths of expenditures on drugs in the US goes toward apprehending and
punishing dealers and users; treatment expenditures account for, at most, a mere one
sixth of the total (Schrager). Spending so much money on drug enforcement is
unethical because if there is a demand for drugs there will always be a supply. In
reality, drug addiction is a disease that demands the attention of the victim. Relapsing
is not the result of lack of will power, while the initial decision to use drugs is
voluntary, drug addiction is a disease of the brain that compels a person to become
singularly obsessed with obtaining and abusing drugs ( Drugs ). Drug use
damages the brain, addicts are often depressed and have anxiety as a result of
drugs. Rehabilitation centers would make sure former drug addicts are healthy and
help them to be productive in society. Throwing addicts in a prison cell does not
stop them from relapsing once they are released. Many will agree that money from
taxes should be used to rehabilitate people from the effects of drug use to truly stop
the problem instead of spending money for people to go in and out of jail. Overall
with these reforms the health of all American inhabitants will increase.
40. How Does Dickens Present The Mists Throughout The Novel
Throughout Great Expectations, author Charles Dickens portrays the symbolism of
mist in a variety of ways. Ranging from the first few pages to the last sentence of the
novel, Dickens deplores the symbol of mist over thirty times throughout the book.
Specifically, Dickens portrays the lingering of the mists to represent Pip s pessimism,
and th absence of mists to represent Pip s optimism. Throughout the novel, Dickens
utilizes the imagery of the mists to symbolize Pip s pessimistic view when the mists
are present, and Pip s optimistic outlook when the mists rise.
Pessimism is a lack of hope or confidence in the future, which is often characterized
by a hyperfocus on the most negative aspects of a situation. On the contrary, Dickens
reveals ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

anonymous donation. Due to his new found wealth, Pip plans to move to London
in hopes of becoming a proper gentleman that warrants Estella s attention. Estella is
very important to Pip, and Pip is infatuated with the prospect of being with her. As
Pip is preparing to leave the village, he explains that, the light mists were solemnly
rising (p. 109). The rising of the mists portrays Pip s hope for his future, as he
believes that becoming a gentleman will result in Estella s approval. While
walking away from his house, Pip reveals that all beyond [is] so unknown and
great (p. 109). Pip s depiction of the future as great further demonstrates his
confidence in what lies ahead of him. Once Pip is miles away from home, he says
that the mists had all solemnly risen now (p. 109) and that the world lay spread
before [him] (p. 109). The evaporation of the mists depicts the evaporation of Pip s
pessimistic outlook, and Pip believes his future is very promising. Similarly, Pip s
declaration that the world is spread before him reveals that he believes that his
possibilities are endless in
41. Barack Obama Eulogy
Barack Obama Eulogy by Reverend Alvin Love
Today we gather to say farewell to a righteous soul, someone who has not only
touched us individually but has influenced the whole world. Someone we knew and
respected, as a colleague, family member, mentor and above all, a friend. Some of
the first things I first noticed was his charisma, his willingness to help others, his
humour and above all his intelligence. These traits allowing him to face his personal
hardships but also allowed him to help others face their hardships in the community.
If you could travel back to 1968, Jakarta Indonesia, you would find a seven year old
Barack Obama who was angry and confused about race. His anger spiked from his
first exposure from a magazine showing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

43. Game Warden Position
I noticed that there were some job openings for game warden in the Jefferson
National Forest. I am very interested in this position since the forest is practically
in my back yard. I think I would be an excellent candidate for this position because
I meet the educational standards for this job. I also am an avid hunter and
fisherman. I am also interested in protecting our beautiful wildlife and forest. It is
for these reasons that I think I would make an excellent game warden. First of all, I
attended MECC in Big Stone Gap, Virginia where I studied forestry and police
science. I really enjoyed these classes and did very well in them. I received A s in my
forestry and police science classes. My education
44. Are Wolves Inaccurate
First impressions are important but, they can be completely inaccurate. Wolves
have been given multiple inaccurate labels. They are given these labels, due to
mythical stories. Wolves were on the brink of extinction, during a hate love
relationship between humans, creating a vast dismissal of knowledge, about
wolves and their ways of life. Wolves have been hated much longer than they ve
been appreciated. As soon as people raised livestock, wolves were enemies
(Swinburne Brandenburg, 2009). Everyone knew them as a symbol of savagery.
Stories were produced, and even in bibles they were referred to as evil. In the tenth
century, King Edward, was allowing taxes to be paid with wolf heads. There were
also bounties, set on wolves. Later on though, this hatred turned into curiosity. In the
1930s, a few scientists began to rethink wolves role in the ecosystem. It was
discovered that, not one single healthy wild wolf, killed, or seriously injured a
human. A biology instructor, who goes by the name Sigurd Olson, sorted fact from
fiction, about wolves. Another scientist, L. David Mech, studied wolves for many
years. He watched 77 wolf attacks, that were targeting moose, and only six kills were
made. Soon, it became obvious to scientists, that wolves were important for many
ecosystems, because... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

45. Brand Extension Strategy Essay
When launching a new product, it is better to pursue a brand extension strategy, than
to develop a new brand
Brand extension is a brand strategy which using the existing brand name to develop
a new product or enter into a different product category market or industry. The new
brand can be called as a sub brand , and the original brand is referred as a parent
brand . There are basically two different types of brand extensions. The first one is
line extension , which means to launch a new product which is under the same
product category as the parent brand. It usually involves more flavours or different
sizes. For example, Coca cola and Coca cherry cola. The other type is category
extensions which means to launch a product in a ... Show more content on

Brand Extensions can increase the establishment of the new product by guarantees of
its quality, getting consumers awareness and recognition. As consumers used to
remember the positive things about the parent brand, at the same time negative
things will not transferred to the sub brand. So it would reduce the risk to the first
time buyer. Moreover, if the company uses this brand extension correctly, it can not
only increase the profit of the company, but can also improve both the sub brand and
parent brand images and bring new customers into brand franchise and increase
market coverage.
In conclusion, it is true that when launching a new product, it is better to pursue a
brand extension strategy, than to develop a new brand. Brand extension is more
likely to be succeeding as it provides many advantages which describes above and
also many researches found that it is easier for company to use brand extension rather
than creating a new brand.

46. Building A Stronger Foundation For Teachers And
Improve...
In an attempt to build a stronger foundation for teachers and improve the educational
outcomes of future students, the Australian Government has introduced a literacy
and numeracy readiness test. It is aimed at pre graduate teachers to ensure that they
have high enough literacy and numeracy skills to successfully meet the needs of the
classroom environment.
As a result of the new initiative announced by the Australian government, universities
have added extra units of literacy and numeracy to the Bachelor of Education degree.
They have been designed to further raise the competence and confidence of the new
educators. The literacy and numeracy tests are a series of multiple choice questions
that have to be passed before student teachers can participate in their final placement.
According to the Board of Studies Teaching Educational Standards, the test will help
to ensure that future teachers graduate with personal literacy and numeracy levels at
least equivalent to those of the top 30 per cent of the population. (Board , 2016)
The tests are not designed to find out whether new educators are advanced in
Mathematics or have the ability to write scientific documents, they have been
introduced to establish whether new educators are prepared with the needed skills set
to be an example to their students. A high standard of literacy and numeracy is very
important for new educators when communicating to parents, co workers, and other
professionals from the community. When
47. The Vs. Real Madrid Essay
The issue that is being investigated are between two Spanish football (soccer) teams
which team is ultimately better? Both giants in their own right, Barcelona and Real
Madrid have traded success and feuded for a very long time. Both sets of fans have
fought over which team is better comparing players, stats, style of play, managers,
stadiums, etc.
B)What is your thesis? (this will be different than the Classical model thesis)
Through the giant rivalry where both teams boast world class talent, tactical
managers and large finances behind them, Real Madrid and Barcelona have
established themselves as two of football s biggest clubs.
C)What common ground do you share? (A value both sides agree on)
Both sides come from Spain, a place where football is highly competitive. This
local rivalry is important because there is a ton of psychology that effects players
on the pitch. Every player WANTS to win, there is nothing being held back when
the players go onto the field. Historically, both teams are extremely successful.
Real Madrid and Barcelona have over 20 league titles each, 32 and 22 respectively.
As for the Spanish Cup, Copa del Rey, they are also very triumphant, Real Madrid s
19 wins to Barcelona s 26. This massive success in these local competitions cemented
both teams as the most victorious teams in all of Spain. Europe s biggest competition,
UEFA Champions League, where all the fantastic teams all across Europe compete
with one another, is another area

Comparing and contrasting crusades In the movie kingdom of heaven most of the
characters were based on historically real people. Balian, Saladin, Guy de Lusignan,
Raynold de Chatillon, and King Baldwin were all real people, but what they did
according to the movie isn t so much . So the question is who were they really, and
what s their significance compared to how the movie protruded them. Balian was
born in the kingdom of Jerusalem, also known as the holy land, around the 12th
century. Unlike in the movie kingdom of heavens where Balian was shown living
in a poor village working as a blacksmith. Balian had first established recognition
for himself when he played his key role in the Christian victory that was very
important over the invasion that was led by Saladin at Montgisard in 1177. This
was the start to many more major battles for Balian. It soon leads him to be a
member of the High Court of Jerusalem. He also became the most powerful barons
in the Kingdom of Jerusalem do to his brother Baldwin of Ramla and Mirabel left
the kingdom leaving him with this power. During his time as baron a crusade had
occurred. This is the same one that is shown ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Early in his life he was a French Poitevin knight, but later traveled to the holy land
of Jerusalem. As Baldwin IV, king of Jerusalem grew sick Guy was eventually
named regent. He also married sibylla Baldwin s sister making her queen of
Jerusalem. This accurate event was also shown in the movie kingdom of heavens.
Baldwin dislike Guy in the movie due to his disobedience. This was true Baldwin
had wanted a more trustworthy brother in law. Guy and his troops set out to the
battle of Hattin. They had no water on their journey and were slandered. Guy was
captured along with Raynold de Chatillon. Raynold was beheaded soon after being
captured. This all had also happened in the movie but Guy was beheaded in the
movie but never was in real
49. Kant s The Metaphysic Of Morals
A very influential philosopher Immanuel Kant says, To be kind where one can is
duty (Pure Practical Reason in the Moral Law, 127). Kant makes the argument that
without good intentions, even if the action itself is morally good, the action has
no intrinsic worth. Although he makes a very strong argument, this isn t accepted
by everyone. In the excerpt Groundwork of the Metaphysic of Morals, Kant
presents a profound argument that how right an action is, is determined by
intention of the principle that is being acted on. He believes that the outcome of
an action is irrelevant because it is out of our control, it doesn t matter if what we
genuinely intended is accomplished. But, we can control the will behind the action.
He explains, The good will is not good because of what it effects or accomplishes
or because of its adequacy to achieve some proposed end; it is good only because
of its willing, i.e. it is good of itself (124). Kant uses an example of two shopkeepers
that treat their customers in the same way, but are in fact motivated very differently.
The first shopkeeper gives the correct change to the customer, but for selfish
purposes. He is scared of getting caught for trying to cheat an inexperienced customer
like a child. Plus, obtaining a good reputation of being an honest shopkeeper
improves his business. The second shopkeeper gives honest change to the customer
simply because he is an honest man, and it is morally right. Even though both
shopkeepers did the
