An Essay On Iraq Research Paper
Iraq, is officially named The Republic of Iraq . The country is located in Asia. The media of Iraq was
very under the radar until the year of 2003, after the Iraq war. The laws of having only one news
station were abolished. Journalists were allowed the freedom to report the news, as they saw it first
hand. Iraq is also one of the most strategic land of business opportunities in the middle east. In the
middle east, Iraq is known to be of extremely high quality, in their education. It is taught in both
Arabic and English, and the Iraqi graduates tend to be advanced in subjects such as math, and many
different fields of science. The Iraq education is also free.

The statistical reports of Iraq, show that the country is 438,466 square kilometers, but the United
States Department of State publication, says that the country is 434,964 square kilometers.
Geographers divide the country up into four main zones. The First zone, is the desert areas which are
located in the west and southwest of the Euphrates river. It s part of the Syrian desert, which also
covers parts of Syria, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia. The region, thinly dispersed by pastoral nomads has a
wide stony plain with rare sandy stretches. There is a very stretched out form of wadis from the border
to the Euphrates. Some of the valleys are up to 400 km long, and during the winter rains, they carry
brief but heavy floods. The second major zone, is the rolling uplands. This zone is located between the
Tigris, north of Samarra and the Euphrates north of Hit. This is known as Al Jazirah, or the island. It is
part of a larger area that extends westward into Syria, between the two rivers and into Turkey. The
irrigation in this region is much more difficult. There is also deeply cut valleys in the zone, that water
flows in. Much of this zone may be classified as desert. The third zone is the Highlands. Located in
the northeast, the highlands begin just south of the line drawn from Mosul to Kirkuk, and extends to
the borders with Turkey and Iran. This region consists of high ground separated by

Langston Hughes Poem Cubes
Langston Hughes poem Cubes concerns itself with the idea of young men bringing disease back from
France to Senegal. The layout of this poem is based on the French motto of libertĂŠ, ĂŠgalitĂŠ, fraternitĂŠ
(or liberty, equality, fraternity) which is mentioned in the third stanza of the poem. The first two
stanzas of the poem refer to the lack of liberty for the people being discussed. The second stanza then
goes on to talk about the many ways equality is missing from the lives of the Senegalese in France.
Finally, the third stanza is about the fraternity that is present when they return to Senegal. The poem
shows that despite it being the French motto, these three things are not present in their society. In fact,
they are more present in Senegal. Liberty: freedom from captivity, confinement, or physical restraint .
In the first stanza, we hear about characters who do not have liberty. They are not free from these
things; instead, they are held back by them. Hughes says that the men are a little too drunk to sing ...

In the fourth stanza, Hughes s narrative returns to Senegal. Here we are introduced to
brotherhood/sisterhood felt between these people. He refers to a collective group of them as the back
girls in the palm huts (34). He indicates a sense of community between the men returning and the
women who have remained there. However, this stanza also largely refers to the spread of disease
from the men who have been in France to the people who never left Senegal. While they are sharing
(which is a brotherly act in and of itself), they are sharing something from the French that is wholly
not something that is wanted. Though the men gained disease through negative relationship with the
French people, they go on to spread it to the Senegalese people through positive interactions. It starts
off being a gift from the boss to the bossed, to being a gift from neighbor to

The Motor s New Robotic Surgery System
1. Introduction Motors are widely used to actuate various devices in the field of engineering. The
motor s ability to induce motion at a wide range of scales from small toy car motors to large industrial
fans allow engineers to apply them to a wide variety of situations. Reverse engineering or testing Or
Testing Of Motors (MOTOĐŻ), Inc is concerned with the potential applications of three different types
of motors; stepper motors, servo motors and DC and assigned a team to test these three motors and
report the best use for each one. The purpose of this experiment was to test the different types of
motors, report the best case application for each one and recommend a motor for the company s new
robotic surgery system. 2. Results and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This linear equation was also used to determine if the motor met the Maximum torque and speed
requirements for each individual joint in the surgery arm. The Vex DC motor that was tested in this lab
met the requirements for Joint C however for A and B, only one of the max requirements could be met
at a time. The requirements for each joint can be found in Table 5 in the attached sheet. For the servo
motor, the values of the pulse widths in milliseconds were recorded in Table 2 in the attached Figures
and Tables sheet with respect to their angles. This information was graphed into a scatterplot using
Excel. A trendline was fitted to the graph to find Equation 2 that describes the linear relationship
between pulse width and servo angle. This equation can be found on the Sample Calculations sheet.
As the stepper motor was tested, the corresponding angle of different combinations between Switch A
and Switch B. The result of these combinations can be found in Table 3 of the Figures and Tables

From this information, a sequence was deduced to rotate the motor a full 360 in increments of 45
degrees, found in Table 4 in Figures and Tables. . Keeping one switch on in one direction whether left

Commection In Art Appreciation
In Art Appreciation, chapter two mentions the purposes and functions of art. The functions of art that
are mentioned are: delight, commentary, worship/ritual, commemoration, persuasion, and self
expression. The function that stood out to me was commentary because this function of art allows the
artist to be expressive in his/hers work of art. Commentary is expressions of opinions rendered as an
art form to communicate with the viewers. Viewers also have a connection with the artists and the
artists work. Commentary can be about and event, person, or opinion. The first art work I chose was a
piece done from Diego Rivera in which Diego s interest at the time of the art work was about Cubism.
Diego Rivera s painting, Portrait of Adolfo Maugard, oil on canvas relates to Commentary as one of
the functions of Art. In figure one of the art work, the main focus of the painting appears to be the
person he painted and what surrounds the person. Rivera s portrait was of Adolfo Best Maugard.
Although the focus appears to be Maugard, the painting is not one point perspective. What surrounds
Maugard is also important in the work as the surrounding expresses perhaps a certain time in which
Rivera wanted to show. There is straight and perpendicular lines that create an overpass where
Maugard is standing. Figure one Diego uses modern colors like: red, orange, yellow, green, and
blue/gray. The geometric shapes for the the buildings, ferris wheel, and the train. He also uses a light

Analysis Of Hawthorne s The Scarlet Letter
Truths Hawthorne s wilderness is exactly what its name implies: wild. It does not hold the same rules
or laws that Puritan civilization does. Instead it presents a myriad of situations and emotions, which
make it one of the most important symbols in The Scarlet Letter. However, there is a twist. It doesn t
just symbolize one thing, but two that are distinctly contrary to one another. The forest can be a place
of true nature where a person is shown as who they are supposed to be, not who other people make
them out to be. The forest can also be a place of uncovering the sin that lies beneath everyone s mind.
These purposes have one thing in common: the revelation of truths.
To the characters, the forest can be a place of solitude and separation that dismantles all of the strict
and artificial laws of man. It is here that Hester Prynne may undo the clasp that fastened the scarlet
letter, and, taking it from her bosom, threw it to a distance among the withered leaves (Hawthorne
138). The scarlet A is the epitome of unnatural and restricting guidelines set forth by man, yet within
the trees nothing of that kind matters. The forest has served as the setting of Hester s liberation and
has enabled the true form of her to be shown, albeit only to Dimmesdale and Pearl. Through her
actions, Hester has used this location to tear away the shackles of Puritanical expectation and define
who she really is by the only laws that matter, nature s.
The forest continues the attempt by

The Use Of Polymers
Ever since the first polymer was fabricated in 1907, scientists have been seeking new applications for
classic polymers (Brewer, 2006). Recently, in 2010, an enhanced structure of the photovoltaic cell
(PVC) was proposed: synthesising new polymers from regular polymers for advanced donating and
electron accepting (D A) moieties in PVCs (Mike et al., 2010). Also, in 2005, another additional
application for traditional polymers has been discovered. By adding cinnamic acid to a flexible
polymer, a material is produced which changes shape in response to different wavelengths of
ultraviolet (UV) light (Lendlein, 2005). Hence, an old polymer can be taught new applications and
tricks if modified in some way. Polymers, known as plastics, are ... Show more content on

Likewise, polybenzobisoxazoles (PBBO)s, found in zylon, are multifunctional materials commonly
applied in electrical structures for their high tensile strength, thermal stability, efficient electron
transport, and high electron affinity (Intemann et al., 2011). So, when the thiophene and
benzobisoxazoles (BBO)s from these compounds are combined with other molecules such as
aldehydes, and two new polymers, namely poly[(3,4 didodecylthiopene vinylene) alt benzo[1,2 d;5,4 d
] bisoxazole] 2,6 diyl (PTVcBBO) and poly[(3,4 didodecylthiopene vinylene) alt benzo[1,2 d;4,5 d
]bisoxazole] 2,6 diyl (PTVtBBO) are formed, D A moieties with a low band gap and high electron
transfer are produced (Kim et al., 2015). These moieties are then used to enhance PVC efficiency and
electron transfer. Firstly, the direct conversion of sunlight into energy using PVCs has been recognised
as an imperative component of future global energy production. As a result of their optical and
electrical properties, conjugated organic materials are being suggested to replace inorganic materials
in PVCs due to their ability to manipulate their electron properties through chemical synthesis (Mike
et al., 2010). So, to improve the electrical properties of regular PVCs, the band gap (the energy
difference between the top of the valence band and the bottom of the conduction band) must be
lowered

Catherine the Great of Russia
I shall be an autocrat: that s my trade. And the good lord will forgive me: that s his ( Catherine II:
quote on leadership ). In history there have been many good examples of good and powerful leaders. A
person who exemplifies good leadership; protects one s nation, is a strong speaker and communicator,
is confident, and can organize a well developed government system. Catherine the second, was a
Russian ruler. She was ultimately one of the most powerfulest rulers. Many believe that Catherine
ruled during a period, in which was considered by many, a golden age for Russia. A golden age is
when a civilization has reached a period of peace, unity, prosperity, and achievements. In the year
1762, Catherine was crowned Empress of Russia. Catherine s motive of ruling Russia, was to make it
a powerful union by spreading and expanding education, and making a national culture. Despite many
failures such as not improving the lives of serfs, who were the majority of the Russian population and
it has been said by many that she ruled through dishonesty and scandal, Catherine the Great was
ultimately a successful leader of Russia. Due to the wonderful accomplishments she made and all of
the admiration she received from the people, therefore earned the powerful title of Catherine the Great
( Prominent Russians: Catherine II the Great ). Although she never accepted the title of Catherine the

Firstly, the birth of Jesus was a historical part of Christianity because without the birth of Jesus then
there will not be a Christian religion. Also, Jesus was born on December 25 to Virgin Mary in
Bethlehem. Even though Virgin Mary was never married to a man before although Virgin Mary was

Gimpel the Fool
There are a variety of different conclusions that one can reach in interpreting the story of Gimpel the
Fool. The story draws its roots from the deep Yiddish background of the author, Isaac Bashevis Singer,
and it deals with the traditional ―fool‖ archetype dealt with so often in the culture. The very archetype
is plagued with irony, as the fool is typically seen as coming out on top of all of the others in the story,
making them seem as the fool rather than the ―fool‖ himself. Gimpel the Fool follows the archetype
well. In some instances, the idea of this particular archetype can be frustrating, as the typical reader
may want the main character to get the revenge he deserves. This is rarely the case, as in doing so, it
would make the main ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Analysis Of Maxine Hong Kingston s The Woman Warrior
Kejsi Drenova
Paper 2
In The Woman Warrior, Maxine Hong Kingston makes her narration compelling and relatable to the
audience through her unique style of storytelling. The ever present changes in perspective lead one to
see how each event eventually affects Kingston. Her comparison of her life to that of Fa Mu Lan
brings out the difficulties in her living in America while her mother had grown up in China. This hero
myth allows her to connect to those values that Brave Orchid holds which make her so hard on her
daughter. The telling of Brave orchid s talk stories in first person makes their events more relatable to
Kingston, which makes the 4th chapter s telling in the third person all the more jarring and thought
provoking. All in all, Kingston s writing style in this novel serves to make it evoke a powerful sense of
relatability and understanding of her plight. The novel is constantly changing perspectives in such a
manner that a reader feels as though all of the events transpiring are all part of Kingston s lived
experience. The main perspectives present are those of Brave Orchid, Kingston s brother, and
Kingston both as herself and as Fa Mu Lan in her fictional narrative. These perspective changes serve
a number of purposes. The first, of course, keeps the story very interesting. The changes in narration
keep the story from feeling too stale. The main purpose of these perspective changes is, however, to
highlight the feelings of displacement and alienation from both

The Musuo Of Chin Matrilineal Kinship
The Musuo of China: Matrilineal Kinship The practice of matrilineal kinship is considered a myth by
some cultures, but it is indeed very real for the Musuo of China. Matrilineality is the practice of linear
descent through the ancestry of females. Many Western civilizations have a misconception of what is
considered normal on a global scale, but many practices do, in fact, differ widely between different
cultures. To illustrate this, the Musuo s traditions and values in regards to marriage and family are
based solely on matrilineal kinship, while America s melting pot ideation encourages unilineal
descent, in which the ancestry line can be traced to the wife and/or the husband. In the paper I will
discuss the cultural nature of the Musuo, and the way that marriage and family norms in Musuo differ
from the typical American ideation of family. One indication that Musuo traditions differ from the
American culture in terms of marriage is the lack of a formal union between wife and husband, as well
as the American idea of father and child. According their article Land of the Walking Marriage (2000),
Lu Yuan and Sam Mitchell explain that Musuo fathers do not raise their own children, but instead
cater to their sister s children s needs. American cultural norms include the belief that blood relatives
have a biological attachment to each other, which makes this type of kinship unacceptable to many
conservative minded Americans. Moreover, the dynamics of marital behavioral

Handsomest Drowned Man
The Handsomest Drowned Man in the World begins with a group of children playing on the beach of a
small fishing village. It s a coastal, cliff side town, with a desert like cape that has no flowers, and so
little land that the inhabitants must throw their dead over the cliffs and into the sea instead of burying
them in their scarce ground. The inhabitants are a simple folk, who believe in myths just as strongly as
they do what they see with their own eyes. In the waves a dark and slinky bulge approaches the
children. Although it is hard to tell at first, it is a drowned man, covered in seaweed, stones, and sea
creatures. The women prepare his body for a funeral while the men head to neighboring villages to

This is the something significant that launches the story and hooks you. The drowned man s arrival
brings any number of conflicts or questions with it: where did he come from? Who is he? To whom
does he belong, if anyone at all? Is he a God? What will his arrival to this village mean? The
complication is that the Drowned Man is the handsomest, biggest, and strongest man in the world, or
at least it seems that way to the villagers. His is clearly no ordinary body. The various conflicts from
the previous stage take on an even greater weight now that he is of such great importance. When the
women decide that he is Esteban, the plotline is further complicated by the mythical implications of
such a name; as the word originates from Spanish and Greek, the meaning of Esteban is garland,
crown or in other words, king (thinkbabynames). The two main Conflicts are man vs. woman, this
occurs when the men come back from the other villages and see how the women are fantasizing about
this dead man. The women are deeply infatuated by Esteban and even compare him to their husbands
thinking how their spouses can never measure up to this god like human. On the other hand the men
initially dislike Esteban because of their wives affection for him unsurprisingly making them jealous.
This is an external conflict. The second is the villagers vs. themselves. This is when they are deciding
whether to chain him so he can never come back again or leave

the camera pans back and forth between Miles and Blue and it is easy to see the disgust the that they
have for one another. After Peyton is done introducing the two, John, the owner of the food chain,
comes over to the three to lighten up the mood. The commercial then goes on to talk about how you
can get two large two topping pizzas for only eight dollars each. The commercial also has the slogan
in it, better ingredients, better pizza, papa johns . Again the product being advertised is pizza, this time
from papa johns. The target audience for this specific commercial would be people who enjoy
watching football or just anyone who wants to enjoy better pizza. The implied argument is that Papa
John s has better ingredients, and better pizza. The commercial tries to pursue the reader by using
emotional appeal. Many people have an emotional connection to either the Broncos,

Two Interrogation Cases Watched in Class
Assignment #3
Joshua L. Tuttle The first interrogation we watched in class was that of a 20 year old named Joshua
Tuttle. Mr. Tuttle was being charged with attempted unlawful sexual conduct with a minor. He was
messaging and supposed to be meeting up with a girl named Jesse who he thought was 13 or 14.
Joshua was the focus of a sting operation and has been featured on the television program To Catch a
Predator . When we picked up on the interrogation, Joshua was sitting across the table from the
interrogator. Joshua s chair was pushed up against the wall and in the corner of the room. This is good
because it is supposed to make him uncomfortable. The table that sat between Joshua and the
interrogator was cluttered with papers. This is not good because this gives the suspect something to
look at besides the interrogator, which in turn can change the suspect s body language and or answers.
During the interrogation Joshua was very emotionless and slouched in his chair. He had glassed was
wearing a black t shirt with a gold cross necklace hanging out and blue jeans. At the beginning he was
very calm when answering the easy questions, like what his name is or where he lived, but as the
questions became related to his arrest he became more silent. He seemed to be disorganized and didn t
answer all the questions and paused quite a bit, but seemed to be telling the truth for the most part. For
example, he was not sure when he started talking to the girl, and when he was asked

use a distinct speaker for listening to low frequency sounds. Subwoofers come in diverse sizes and
thus they can perform optimally as per the surroundings. Bass is what car

Time Series Models for Forecasting New One Family Houses Sold in the United States
Introduction
The economic recession felt in the United States since the collapse of the housing market in 2007 can
be seen by various trends in the housing market. This collapse claimed some of the largest financial
institutions in the U.S. such as Bear Sterns and Lehman Brothers, as they held over leveraged
positions in the mortgage backed securities market. Credit became widely available to unqualified
borrowers during the nineties and the early part of the next decade which caused bankers to act
predatorily in their lending practices, as they could easily sell and package subprime mortgage loans
on leverage. This act caused a bubble that would later ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Figure 2
12 period plot of autocorrelation functions (ACF) for NHS
Now that we have verified the presense of a trend in the data we will look to verify the seasonality we
saw earlier represented by regularly reoccurring fluctuations in the levels of data in accordance with
the calendar seasons. To do this we will use an autocorrelation function for the first differenced new
home sales data. We will use a larger sample, in this case 24 months, so that we can see the regularly
reoccurring fluctuations from one year to the next. When we look at the graph in Figure 3 we notice
great increases with lag 12 and lag 24. The jumps seen in lags 12 and 24 confirms the presense of
seasonality as they are above the upper limit representing statistical significance.

Time Series and Regression Models for New One Family Houses Sold
Since the NHS data has been shown to have trend and seasonality we will evaluate the data using four
different time series models and compare the results of each to see which model is the most accurate.
The models we are going to use are the Modified NaĂŻve model, Winters Exponential Smoothing

Native Architects And Architectures Introduced
As a Chinese immigrant who lived in the USA for four years, I have been amazed by the western
architects and architectures introduced in lectures and textbook. Buildings like Sagrada Familia,
Guggenheim Museum, Burj Al Arab, and even the White House have attracted my interested toward
architecture by bringing me endless awes and wonders. Out of so many famous and recognizable
architects who designed marvelous buildings, this special Chinese family attracts extra attention.
Maybe a highly skilled architect is honorable, but a loyal architect family who devoted their
generations to architecture deserves the respect from all architects. In the following paragraphs, I will
describe this family and their work, as well as their importance and contribution to the history of
architecture.
Yang Shi Lei , meaning the Lei style , was a name for Lei family who worked as royal architects over
200 years of Qing dynasty. In the end of 17th century, like many artisans, Fada Lei came to Beijing
and started working to build the palaces for Qing dynasty. Due to his outstanding building skills and
different architectural style, he was prided to be the designer of many royal buildings. He had total of
seven generals at the end the Qing dynasty, and they were all responsible for designing and building
the royal buildings such as the main palaces, imperial tomb, the old Summer Palace, the Summer
Palace and so on. To commemorate Lei s family s contribution to the Chinese architectural history,

Peter Paul Rubens ( 1577-1640 )
Peter Paul Rubens (1577 1640) painted The Raising of the Cross in 1609 1610, when he was about the
age of the martyred Christ. Until 1794, this colossal work (central panel: 460 x 340 cm, side panels:
460 x 150 cm) was part of the high altar of the St. Walburgis Church, which was later demolished. The
painting was once taken away by the emperor when Napoleon ruled France. However, the painting
was returned to Antwerp in 1815, and it is located in the Our Lady s Cathedral since 1816.
The whirling strength, the impelling dynamism that characterize this masterpiece full of drama and
pathos are striking. Nevertheless the whole presentation appears coherent and balanced. The grunting,
pushing, pulling, and lifting from the men to raise the cross showed great strength, movement, and
endurance to perform the task that caused Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews to ask Almighty God to
forgive them due to lack of knowledge.
Brief Biographical
Peter Paul Rubens (June 28, 1577 May 30, 1640) was a prolific seventeenth century Flemish Baroque
painter, and a proponent of an exuberant Baroque style that emphasized movement, color, and
sensuality. (1) He is born in Siegen, Westphalia in Germany. He and his brother were sent to a Latin
school in Antwerp. Due to lack of money, Rubens mother withdrew him from school in 1590 and sent
him as a page to the Countess of Lalaing at the age of 13. She needed the extra money to pay a dowry
for his sister. Although his job was very prestigious,

Comparison of Moses and Odysseus
The stories of heroes have been at the axis of nearly all cultures throughout history. Each different
type of religion or culture has their own heroes or legends, each one of them having their differences
to go along with the beliefs at hand. On the other hand, each and every hero also has their similarities,
which therefore makes them the hero. The setting, events, and characters in each and every story may
change, but the characteristics of the hero remain basically the same. Each person is usually made into
a hero in a somewhat similar fashion. For example, many heroes begin as imperfect characters, and
then begin some sort of quest which leads to them becoming a leader of what they are doing, and then
the character goes through a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Odysseus s voyage had to be completed before saving his people, while Moses exodus and his people
s salvation were simultaneous. In either case, the journey is vital to the hero in order for him to
undergo a personal transformation into the legendary hero they became.
Moses fought a Pharaoh, the desert, his own people, and himself during his long journey to the
Promised Land. Odysseus also had a long journey home and while on that journey battled Poseidon,
the sea, his men, and himself. Not only are the stories of The Odyssey and Exodus the similar, but the
heroes, Odysseus and Moses, share many of the same attributes and behaviors. Both, despite having
murderous pasts, were chosen by their God or gods to be the savior of their people. Each had a
specific limitation that directly interfered with the completion of their mission. And since they were
helped by God or the Greek gods along the way, Moses and Odysseus ultimately had faith that they
would be successful, regardless of the obstacles ahead. Their similarities exist on a personal level as
well. Both heroes had to make great sacrifices for the good of the whole. They each underwent a
personal transformation as a result of the trials they faced. And each learned a lesson that they passed
on as a message for their people. The hero s journey is also determined by how each story originated.

Semi-Structured Interview Essay
Interviews are conversations which will take place between the researcher and interviewee, with the
researcher being the one who asks the questions for the interviewee to answer (Lambert, 2012, p104).
For my small scale project, I have decided that I will carry out semi structured interviews with those
who work in the education sector of the Castle Museum to find out what they do and how they
promote children s learning.
I think a semi structured interview will be good for my own research project as I will have a set
structure of questions that I would like to discuss. This will include all of the most important points
that I would like to cover, to ensure I do not miss them out. There will also be space to discuss topics

This style of interview will allow room to cover issues in depth if needed, and will give me the
opportunity to probe into certain issues that I would like to know more information about. Probing is a
tool used for ensuring reliability of the data, as it enables the interviewer to clarify with the respondent
any words or phrases that they may not fully understand (Barriball and While ,1994, p331). Semi
structured interviews gives the interviewer the chance to be flexible in what they want to ask their
participant by not having to follow any specific order.
Lambert argues that there are disadvantages to using semi structured interview, as the interviewee may
go onto another topic without realizing, resulting to this style of interview being hard to keep on track
(2012, p105). As well as this, as semi structured interview allows freedom for further questions, this
could result to important questions being missed due to running out of

The Ronald Reagan Administration
I will be going over the discrimination of African Americans by the Ronald Reagan administration
during the cold war. The effects his policies had on African Americans, what he gained from it, and
the reasoning for his actions. How he used the C.I.A to target low income African American
communities. Plus, the overall effects this has on the U.S. to this day.
In 1982 the crack epidemic started, which shortly after Ronald Reagan expanded the war on drugs that
Nixon started, one of his top aides admitted that the war on drugs was used to target African
Americans and hippies . The number of incarcerations before the war on drugs was expanded in 1980
was four thousand seven hundred forty nine for drug related crimes, in 1990 that number increased to
twenty four thousand two hundred ninety seven, sixty percent of those incarcerations were African
Americans (sentencingproject.org). If you were caught with one gram of crack you got the same
sentencing as someone found with eighteen grams of cocaine, it was policies like these that targeted
lower income black communities because crack was much cheaper than cocaine and was more likely

Culture Jamming In Adbusters
Since its founding in 1989, culture jamming has been a popular communications technique for
Adbusters advocates. This user generated protest method allows individuals to critique and challenge
the pervasive advertisements of massive corporations. Culture jamming is a way of directly halting the
flow of consumer messages and allowing audiences to stop and critically analyze the capitalist
messages and institutions around them. The concept is inspired by the Situationist movement, an
international organization of social revolutionaries which produced avante garde art critical of
capitalist modes of production through the 1950s to the 1970s (Rasmussen, 36). Ground in neo
Marxist thinking, The Situationist International looked particularly at the ... Show more content on

A Fallen Monument By William Faulkner
A Fallen Monument
William Faulkner was born September 25, 1897, in Oxford, Mississippi. After living there for most of
his life, he later moved to Charlottesville, Virginia, where he was a writer in the residence at the
University of Virginia. Faulkner published 19 novels and more than 75 short stories between 1926 and
1962. Faulkner is known best for some of his ground breaking novels: The Sound and the Fury; As I
Lay Dying; Light in August; Absalom, Absalom! and Go Down, Moses. Like the novels, the majority
of Faulkner s stories were set in the South. Particularly in Yoknapatawpha County, there he invented
fictional black and white characters. His major fictional families include the Sartoris, Snopes, De
Spain, Compson, Sutpen, McCaslin, and Carothers (The Facts on File Companion to American Short
Story). The characters appeared multiple times carefully outlining their family histories throughout
Faulkner s canon. The majority of his stories were in the country he resided. He made use of myths,
legends, themes, situations and characters; repeatedly experimenting with these and other techniques.
Critic James G. Watson brings forth a key point by deepening the meaning in Faulkner s short stories
by stating these stories do more than entertain, they explain the world. These stories broaden our view
of history, people of different regions, and overall of humanity. A significant fact about Faulkner s
story collection is that he envisioned them contrapuntally that is, he

Handwriting v Typing
The process of reading and writing involves a number of senses, she explains. When writing by hand,
our brain receives feedback from our motor actions, together with the sensation of touching a pencil

typing on a keyboard.

A lack of focus
There is a lot of research on haptics in relation to computer games, in which for instance vibrating
hand controls are employed. According to Mangen, virtual drills with sound and vibration are used for
training dentists.
But there has been very little effort to include haptics within the humanistic disciplines, she explains.
In educational science, there is scant interest in the ergonomics of reading and writing, and its
potential significance in the learning process.
Mangen refers to an experiment involving two groups of adults, in which the participants were
assigned the task of having to learn to write in an unknown alphabet, consisting of approximately
twenty letters. One group was taught to write by hand, while the other was using a keyboard. Three
and six weeks into the experiment, the participants recollection of these letters, as well as their
rapidity in distinguishing right and reversed letters, were tested. Those who had learned the letters by
handwriting came out best in all tests. Furthermore, fMRI brain scans indicated an activation of the
Broca s area within this group. Among those who had learned by typing on keyboards, there was little
or no activation of this area.
The sensorimotor component forms an integral part of training for beginners, and in special education
for people with learning difficulties. But there is little awareness and understanding of the importance
of handwriting to the learning

As of 2010, thirteen and a half percent (13 ½%) of all African Americans comprise the U.S.

The Danger of Deep Vein Thrombosis
Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a type of cardiovascular disease. DVT is a blood clot that forms in the
large deep veins in the leg or pelvis area and grows toward the heart. Including the veins in the calf
and thighs, the femoral, popliteal, and iliofemoral vein are also the sites of DVT development. It is a
mainly common and dangerous condition (Kesieme et al., 2011). Some DVTs may cause no pain or
swelling, whereas others might be quite painful and result in a lot of swelling. Mortality is not high
with prompt diagnoses and treatment for most DVTs. However some can be a threat to your life,
especially the ones that develop in the deep veins as compared to the clots that develop in the visible
superficial veins. Clot which forms in the deep veins is more likely to break free and travel through
the veins, which is then called an embolus. When an embolus travels from the legs or pelvis area and
lodges into the lung artery, the condition is known as a pulmonary embolism or PE. This is a
potentially fatal condition if it is not treated immediately and can lead to death. As high as 50% of the
time a DVT can progress to pulmonary embolism. Collectively, DVT and PE are known as venous
thromboembolism (VTE). DVT and PE are highly preventable (Kesieme et al., 2011). Both DVT and
PE are a major public health problem worldwide. DVT affects approximately 0.1% of persons per
year. The overall average age and sex adjusted annual incidence of VTE is 117 per 100,000, with

United States On International Trade

This treaty has 2 main purposes: it aims to improve the working of the Convention, also, ensure that

A difficulty to address this problem
A convention such as CITES can impose total trade bans on certain species. While the reason is
environmentally sound, politicians don t always agree. The reason behind this are the commercial and
economic benefits that countries get out of specific trades. For instance, the main challenge in 2013
was to add to the CITES Appendix II several species of sharks. This proposal faced a strong resistance
from China, Japan and their allies, where the shark fin trade is a tradition, causing horrific changes in
the population of these species. The same problem happened in 2013 during the CoP16 when Canada

Effectiveness Of Body Weight Management
INTRODUCTION
Many procedures used for body weight management by athletes can lead to a number of negative side
effects which could play a significant role in decreasing physiological performance during the
competitive season. Most of the time this occurs with athletes trying to lose weight to perform at a
lighter weight class in their respective sport. Some of the methods used to reach a lower desired body
weight include low calorie diets, deliberate dehydration, and saunas (Oppliger, 2003). These methods
have been shown to decrease strength and power, overall health, physiological function, water
balance, electrolytes, glycogen and lean body mass in athletes (Oppliger, 1996).
If athletes could utilize a diet that would avoid these negative side effects but still allow them to reach
their desired weight goal, all while maintaining their strength, power and lean mass this could be a
truly useful method to allow peak performance during competition. One of the sports where
maintaining muscular size, and definition while decreasing body fat is extremely important is
bodybuilding (Slater, 2011). One of the more popular methods for bodybuilders to do this is by using a
very low carbohydrate ketogenic diet (VLCKD).
VLCKD is a diet in which the daily carbohydrate intake is less than 30 grams a day. This restriction
limits glucose availability to tissues, stimulating ketogenisis in the liver. The physiological function of
ketosis is to supply the heart and central nervous system

Elie Wiesel Reflection
We are all aware of the physical and emotional changes brought about by adolescence. It is something
we all experience, especially on a mental stage which may make us question everything. This is the
exact time in his life that writer and holocaust survivor Elie Wiesel was put through the destruction of
six million jews along with millions of other people in europe under the iron fist of Nazi germany. We
can see him mature and adapt throughout his journey from the ghettos to concentration camps like
Auschwitz, birkenau, buna, and buchenwald, but the book ends directly after he is liberated. This
leaves us wondering, how has he changed after the holocaust? Did he still mature and how have his
outlooks been refined on his past since he left buchenwald? The first glimpse we get into Elie Wiesel s
views after the holocaust is the preface of his story night. Written not so long after he escaped death in
the concentration camps, it mostly shows he has unrefined, common views of remorse and regret on
behalf of the Jews who died. He does hold some more unique and negative views about the event. In
particular the soul of the human race as a whole. Although many survivors were eager to share their
experiences in order to sway the public, Wiesel was scared that no one would believe him. Could men
and women who consider it normal to assist the weak, to heal the sick, to protect small children, and
to respectthe wisdom of their elders understand what happened there? Would they be able

John Henry Livingston Influence On Religion
Besides being known as the Father of the Reformed Church in America, the resolver of the Coetus vs.
Conferentie dispute, the instituter of the Union of Articles to provide education for colonial clergy, and
the founder of New Brunswick Theological Seminary, John Henry Livingston is also known as the
father of the modern missionary movement (By Grace Alone, 81). Livingston helped a young RCA
denomination establish itself and wade through some challenging theological positions (The Dutch
Reformed Church in the American Colonies, 207 209). During Livingston s time, it was the middle of
the Second Great Awakening and an evangelical pietism was filling the churches across the colonial
seafront (Word and World, 16 17). Livingston, too, resonated with this individualism since he found ...

Being far more consistent than Frelinghuysen, Livingston espoused millennial views which echo a
hope that Christians can bring the return of Christ before the year 2000 (A People in Mission, 1 8).
Livingston, in his 1804 sermon The Everlasting Gospel, preaches on the Great Fall of Babylon and the
apocalyptic doom that could follow. By proselytizing to the world the good news of the Gospel, this
apocalypticism can be avoided. Livingston believed that once the entire globe heard the Gospel, the
church would enter into the millennial reign (Word and World, 18). Livingston, in his sermon, goes so
far as to say that it is the Christian s duty to live out the Great Commission to foreign lands. But the
millennial reign will come about if the church is not being pious; therefore, the church must stress
moral and social order essential piety so that Jesus will return (Word and World, 112 113). Livingston
is known for believing America to be a City on a Hill which, in her pious wisdom, could oversee all

Does Being Involved In A Sport Develop Good Character
Participation in sports can be different things, for example someone joins a sport
Because they like it of course or simply because they want something and or a hobby. For the most
part a sport is a good thing to do because of the meaning that it has to it which is good. The question
here is does being involved in a sport develop good character? Well that will be answered throughout
this whole essay. Participation is a major aspect in sports, and people tend to contribute a variety of
thoughts amongst the results that come with participating in a sport. Now a days, being involved in a
sport can mean many different things, although this has gone into a big argument because many
people have always proved that if you are involved in sports it ... Show more content on

Being a teenager is hard especially if you have a bad group of friends.
Education, technology and friends all come together to destroy your focus, because they all cause you
to make tough decisions that are to be made for each and every one of them. For example, good
character is developed first by staying out of trouble. Making one bad choice can affect you on the
long run. As it says in the website Debate, I definitely think sports keep teenagers out of trouble. ,
(baker 1). When teens participate in a sport it affects them a lot, it impacts them into becoming better
people and helps their character as well. They need that type of attitude to change how they act and
also how they are in their everyday lives and also their everyday routine. Once this happens and they
actually join a sport they start to have better attitudes and also start having a good mood towards
people, teachers, coaches, parents, brothers, sisters, ect. When in a sport, it makes you have a different
mentality, you start to think differently in a good way of course. Bad choices turn into bad and good
choices turn into good, you start to see reality.

Kevin Smith Film Techniques
To get the level enjoyment I got out of this film, you really need to be a Kevin Smith fan. Which I
really am, having seen all of his films save one. That one being Tusk, the precursor to this film and the
first film in the True North trilogy. Though I m more than aware of its story enough to know that they
aren t related. With exception of overlapping characters. So, you can jump right in without missing to
much, if really anything at all. I m not sure what it is about Kevin Smith s writing, but I can always get
into his films. No matter how strange and cheesy the plot gets and this one gets plenty of both. Yoga
Hosers opens with an actually pretty great song, being performed by Colleen Collette (Lily Rose
Depp) and Colleen McKenzie (Harley Quinn Smith). In the back of convenience store at which they
work, while the store is supposed to be open. After the they finish practicing they reopen to host of
upset costumers, one of who buys a roll of toilet paper (Harley Morestein). Among the upset
costumers are Hunter Calloway (Austin Butler), a high school hottie and Colleen M. s crush and his
friend Gordon Greenleaf (Tyler ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That said the Bratzis were a little hard to swallow due just how ludicrous they are. To the point where
I can t in good conscious call this a true horror film, or even a horror comedy for that matter. Yoga
Hosers is a straight comedy with a few dark comedy moments thrown in. Final thoughts, Yoga Hosers
makes me want to see Tusk even more and makes me upset I didn t go out of my way to see it in
theaters. I was much more hardcore fan of his in the past, and feel that this film is kind of a return to
form Smith. Since the only other horror film I ve seen by him is Red State, which is a horror film. So
if you want to see a Kevin Smith horror film, see Red State. If you want to see a cheeky tongue in
cheek comedy with a ton of call backs to his other films, than Yoga Hosers is for you.

Mattel Toys Recall Case Study
MATTEL TOYS RECALL CASE STUDY Product recall: On August 14, 2007, the U.S. Consumer
Product Safety Commission (CPSC) in cooperation with Mattel announced five different recalls of
Mattel s toys. On September 4, Mattel announced three more recalls. Some were due to the use of lead
paint, while others were due to small magnets coming loose.
On August 2, 2007, Mattel s Fisher

Clearly Mattel did not have sufficiently tight quality control procedures in its supply chain to
compensate for the extra risks of outsourcing to relatively new Chinese subcontractors. Clearly there
were design flaws in the toys with the magnets that could come loose. But Mattel deserves praise for
now stepping up to its responsibilities as the leading brand in the toy industry.

‐What has Mattel done! : The CEO has taken personal charge of the situation. He has apologized
publicly and taken immediate steps to tighten quality assurance requirements on Mattel s suppliers.
Mattel is effectively getting the word out about the recall. Among other methods, the company is
using bold red ads on high

The media of Iraq was very under the radar until the year of 2003, after the Iraq war. The laws of having only one news station were abolished. Journalists were allowed the freedom to report the news, as they saw it first hand. Iraq is also one of the most strategic land of business opportunities in the middle east. In the middle east, Iraq is known to be of extremely high quality, in their education. Geographers divide the country up into four main zones. The First zone, is the desert areas which are located in the west and southwest of the Euphrates river. It s part of the Syrian desert, which also covers parts of Syria, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia. The region, thinly dispersed by pastoral nomads has a wide stony plain with rare sandy stretches. There is a very stretched out form of wadis from the border to the Euphrates. Some of the valleys are up to 400 km long, and during the winter rains, they carry brief but heavy floods. The second major zone, is the rolling uplands. This zone is located between the Tigris, north of Samarra and the Euphrates north of Hit. This is known as Al Jazirah, or the island. It is part of a larger area that extends westward into Syria, between the two rivers and into Turkey. The irrigation in this region is much more difficult. There is also deeply cut valleys in the zone, that water flows in. Much of this zone may be classified as desert. The third zone is the Highlands. • 3. Langston Hughes Poem Cubes Langston Hughes poem Cubes concerns itself with the idea of young men bringing disease back from France to Senegal. The layout of this poem is based on the French motto of libertĂŠ, ĂŠgalitĂŠ, fraternitĂŠ (or liberty, equality, fraternity) which is mentioned in the third stanza of the poem. The first two stanzas of the poem refer to the lack of liberty for the people being discussed. The second stanza then goes on to talk about the many ways equality is missing from the lives of the Senegalese in France. Finally, the third stanza is about the fraternity that is present when they return to Senegal. The poem shows that despite it being the French motto, these three things are not present in their society. In fact, they are more present in Senegal. Liberty: freedom from captivity, confinement, or physical restraint . In the first stanza, we hear about characters who do not have liberty. They are not free from these things; instead, they are held back by them. Hughes says that the men are a little too drunk to sing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He refers to a collective group of them as the back girls in the palm huts (34). He indicates a sense of community between the men returning and the women who have remained there. However, this stanza also largely refers to the spread of disease from the men who have been in France to the people who never left Senegal. While they are sharing (which is a brotherly act in and of itself), they are sharing something from the French that is wholly not something that is wanted. Though the men gained disease through negative relationship with the French people, they go on to spread it to the Senegalese people through positive interactions. • 5. Commection In Art Appreciation In Art Appreciation, chapter two mentions the purposes and functions of art. The functions of art that are mentioned are: delight, commentary, worship/ritual, commemoration, persuasion, and self expression. The function that stood out to me was commentary because this function of art allows the artist to be expressive in his/hers work of art. Commentary is expressions of opinions rendered as an art form to communicate with the viewers. Viewers also have a connection with the artists and the artists work. Commentary can be about and event, person, or opinion. The first art work I chose was a piece done from Diego Rivera in which Diego s interest at the time of the art work was about Cubism. Diego Rivera s painting, Portrait of Adolfo Maugard, oil on canvas relates to Commentary as one of the functions of Art. In figure one of the art work, the main focus of the painting appears to be the person he painted and what surrounds the person. Rivera s portrait was of Adolfo Best Maugard. Although the focus appears to be Maugard, the painting is not one point perspective. What surrounds Maugard is also important in the work as the surrounding expresses perhaps a certain time in which Rivera wanted to show. There is straight and perpendicular lines that create an overpass where Maugard is standing. Figure one Diego uses modern colors like: red, orange, yellow, green, and blue/gray. • 6. Analysis Of Hawthorne s The Scarlet Letter Truths Hawthorne s wilderness is exactly what its name implies: wild. It does not hold the same rules or laws that Puritan civilization does. Instead it presents a myriad of situations and emotions, which make it one of the most important symbols in The Scarlet Letter. However, there is a twist. It doesn t just symbolize one thing, but two that are distinctly contrary to one another. The forest can be a place of true nature where a person is shown as who they are supposed to be, not who other people make them out to be. The forest can also be a place of uncovering the sin that lies beneath everyone s mind. These purposes have one thing in common: the revelation of truths. To the characters, the forest can be a place of solitude and separation that dismantles all of the strict and artificial laws of man. It is here that Hester Prynne may undo the clasp that fastened the scarlet letter, and, taking it from her bosom, threw it to a distance among the withered leaves (Hawthorne 138). The scarlet A is the epitome of unnatural and restricting guidelines set forth by man, yet within the trees nothing of that kind matters. The forest has served as the setting of Hester s liberation and has enabled the true form of her to be shown, albeit only to Dimmesdale and Pearl. Through her actions, Hester has used this location to tear away the shackles of Puritanical expectation and define who she really is by the only laws that matter, nature s. • 7. The Use Of Polymers Ever since the first polymer was fabricated in 1907, scientists have been seeking new applications for classic polymers (Brewer, 2006). Recently, in 2010, an enhanced structure of the photovoltaic cell (PVC) was proposed: synthesising new polymers from regular polymers for advanced donating and electron accepting (D A) moieties in PVCs (Mike et al., 2010). Also, in 2005, another additional application for traditional polymers has been discovered. By adding cinnamic acid to a flexible polymer, a material is produced which changes shape in response to different wavelengths of ultraviolet (UV) light (Lendlein, 2005). Hence, an old polymer can be taught new applications and tricks if modified in some way. Polymers, known as plastics, are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... So, when the thiophene and benzobisoxazoles (BBO)s from these compounds are combined with other molecules such as aldehydes, and two new polymers, namely poly[(3,4 didodecylthiopene vinylene) alt benzo[1,2 d;5,4 d ] bisoxazole] 2,6 diyl (PTVcBBO) and poly[(3,4 didodecylthiopene vinylene) alt benzo[1,2 d;4,5 d ]bisoxazole] 2,6 diyl (PTVtBBO) are formed, D A moieties with a low band gap and high electron transfer are produced (Kim et al., 2015). These moieties are then used to enhance PVC efficiency and electron transfer. Firstly, the direct conversion of sunlight into energy using PVCs has been recognised as an imperative component of future global energy production. As a result of their optical and electrical properties, conjugated organic materials are being suggested to replace inorganic materials in PVCs due to their ability to manipulate their electron properties through chemical synthesis (Mike et al., 2010). So, to improve the electrical properties of regular PVCs, the band gap (the energy difference between the top of the valence band and the bottom of the conduction band) must be lowered ... • 13. Gimpel the Fool There are a variety of different conclusions that one can reach in interpreting the story of Gimpel the Fool. The story draws its roots from the deep Yiddish background of the author, Isaac Bashevis Singer, and it deals with the traditional ―fool‖ archetype dealt with so often in the culture. The very archetype is plagued with irony, as the fool is typically seen as coming out on top of all of the others in the story, making them seem as the fool rather than the ―fool‖ himself. Gimpel the Fool follows the archetype well. In some instances, the idea of this particular archetype can be frustrating, as the typical reader may want the main character to get the revenge he deserves. • 14. Analysis Of Maxine Hong Kingston s The Woman Warrior Kejsi Drenova Paper 2 In The Woman Warrior, Maxine Hong Kingston makes her narration compelling and relatable to the audience through her unique style of storytelling. The ever present changes in perspective lead one to see how each event eventually affects Kingston. Her comparison of her life to that of Fa Mu Lan brings out the difficulties in her living in America while her mother had grown up in China. This hero myth allows her to connect to those values that Brave Orchid holds which make her so hard on her daughter. The telling of Brave orchid s talk stories in first person makes their events more relatable to Kingston, which makes the 4th chapter s telling in the third person all the more jarring and thought provoking. All in all, Kingston s writing style in this novel serves to make it evoke a powerful sense of relatability and understanding of her plight. The novel is constantly changing perspectives in such a manner that a reader feels as though all of the events transpiring are all part of Kingston s lived experience. The main perspectives present are those of Brave Orchid, Kingston s brother, and Kingston both as herself and as Fa Mu Lan in her fictional narrative. These perspective changes serve a number of purposes. The first, of course, keeps the story very interesting. The changes in narration keep the story from feeling too stale. • 15. The Musuo Of Chin Matrilineal Kinship The Musuo of China: Matrilineal Kinship The practice of matrilineal kinship is considered a myth by some cultures, but it is indeed very real for the Musuo of China. Matrilineality is the practice of linear descent through the ancestry of females. Many Western civilizations have a misconception of what is considered normal on a global scale, but many practices do, in fact, differ widely between different cultures. To illustrate this, the Musuo s traditions and values in regards to marriage and family are based solely on matrilineal kinship, while America s melting pot ideation encourages unilineal descent, in which the ancestry line can be traced to the wife and/or the husband. In the paper I will discuss the cultural nature of the Musuo, and the way that marriage and family norms in Musuo differ from the typical American ideation of family. One indication that Musuo traditions differ from the American culture in terms of marriage is the lack of a formal union between wife and husband, as well as the American idea of father and child. According their article Land of the Walking Marriage (2000), Lu Yuan and Sam Mitchell explain that Musuo fathers do not raise their own children, but instead cater to their sister s children s needs. American cultural norms include the belief that blood relatives have a biological attachment to each other, which makes this type of kinship unacceptable to many conservative minded Americans. Moreover, the dynamics of marital behavioral ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

To whom does he belong, if anyone at all? Is he a God? What will his arrival to this village mean? The complication is that the Drowned Man is the handsomest, biggest, and strongest man in the world, or at least it seems that way to the villagers. His is clearly no ordinary body. The various conflicts from the previous stage take on an even greater weight now that he is of such great importance. When the women decide that he is Esteban, the plotline is further complicated by the mythical implications of such a name; as the word originates from Spanish and Greek, the meaning of Esteban is garland, crown or in other words, king (thinkbabynames). The two main Conflicts are man vs. woman, this occurs when the men come back from the other villages and see how the women are fantasizing about this dead man. The women are deeply infatuated by Esteban and even compare him to their husbands thinking how their spouses can never measure up to this god like human. On the other hand the men initially dislike Esteban because of their wives affection for him unsurprisingly making them jealous. This is an external conflict. Native Architects And Architectures Introduced As a Chinese immigrant who lived in the USA for four years, I have been amazed by the western architects and architectures introduced in lectures and textbook. Buildings like Sagrada Familia, Guggenheim Museum, Burj Al Arab, and even the White House have attracted my interested toward architecture by bringing me endless awes and wonders. Out of so many famous and recognizable architects who designed marvelous buildings, this special Chinese family attracts extra attention. Maybe a highly skilled architect is honorable, but a loyal architect family who devoted their generations to architecture deserves the respect from all architects. In the following paragraphs, I will describe this family and their work, as well as their importance and contribution to the history of architecture. Yang Shi Lei , meaning the Lei style , was a name for Lei family who worked as royal architects over 200 years of Qing dynasty. In the end of 17th century, like many artisans, Fada Lei came to Beijing and started working to build the palaces for Qing dynasty. Due to his outstanding building skills and different architectural style, he was prided to be the designer of many royal buildings. He had total of seven generals at the end the Qing dynasty, and they were all responsible for designing and building the royal buildings such as the main palaces, imperial tomb, the old Summer Palace, the Summer Palace and so on. • 26. Peter Paul Rubens ( 1577-1640 ) Peter Paul Rubens (1577 1640) painted The Raising of the Cross in 1609 1610, when he was about the age of the martyred Christ. Until 1794, this colossal work (central panel: 460 x 340 cm, side panels: 460 x 150 cm) was part of the high altar of the St. Walburgis Church, which was later demolished. The painting was once taken away by the emperor when Napoleon ruled France. However, the painting was returned to Antwerp in 1815, and it is located in the Our Lady s Cathedral since 1816. The whirling strength, the impelling dynamism that characterize this masterpiece full of drama and pathos are striking. Nevertheless the whole presentation appears coherent and balanced. The grunting, pushing, pulling, and lifting from the men to raise the cross showed great strength, movement, and endurance to perform the task that caused Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews to ask Almighty God to forgive them due to lack of knowledge. Brief Biographical Peter Paul Rubens (June 28, 1577 May 30, 1640) was a prolific seventeenth century Flemish Baroque painter, and a proponent of an exuberant Baroque style that emphasized movement, color, and sensuality. (1) He is born in Siegen, Westphalia in Germany. He and his brother were sent to a Latin school in Antwerp. Each different type of religion or culture has their own heroes or legends, each one of them having their differences to go along with the beliefs at hand. On the other hand, each and every hero also has their similarities, which therefore makes them the hero. The setting, events, and characters in each and every story may change, but the characteristics of the hero remain basically the same. Each person is usually made into a hero in a somewhat similar fashion. For example, many heroes begin as imperfect characters, and then begin some sort of quest which leads to them becoming a leader of what they are doing, and then the character goes through a ... In either case, the journey is vital to the hero in order for him to undergo a personal transformation into the legendary hero they became. Moses fought a Pharaoh, the desert, his own people, and himself during his long journey to the Promised Land. Odysseus also had a long journey home and while on that journey battled Poseidon, the sea, his men, and himself. Not only are the stories of The Odyssey and Exodus the similar, but the heroes, Odysseus and Moses, share many of the same attributes and behaviors. Both, despite having murderous pasts, were chosen by their God or gods to be the savior of their people. Each had a specific limitation that directly interfered with the completion of their mission. And since they were helped by God or the Greek gods along the way, Moses and Odysseus ultimately had faith that they would be successful, regardless of the obstacles ahead. Their similarities exist on a personal level as well. Both heroes had to make great sacrifices for the good of the whole. They each underwent a personal transformation as a result of the trials they faced. And each learned a lesson that they passed on as a message for their people. The hero s journey is also determined by how each story originated. The Hebrews passed down Moses ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Semi structured interviews gives the interviewer the chance to be flexible in what they want to ask their participant by not having to follow any specific order. After living there for most of his life, he later moved to Charlottesville, Virginia, where he was a writer in the residence at the University of Virginia. Faulkner published 19 novels and more than 75 short stories between 1926 and 1962. Faulkner is known best for some of his ground breaking novels: The Sound and the Fury; As I Lay Dying; Light in August; Absalom, Absalom! and Go Down, Moses. Like the novels, the majority of Faulkner s stories were set in the South. Particularly in Yoknapatawpha County, there he invented fictional black and white characters. His major fictional families include the Sartoris, Snopes, De Spain, Compson, Sutpen, McCaslin, and Carothers (The Facts on File Companion to American Short Story). The characters appeared multiple times carefully outlining their family histories throughout Faulkner s canon. The majority of his stories were in the country he resided. He made use of myths, legends, themes, situations and characters; repeatedly experimenting with these and other techniques. Critic James G. Watson brings forth a key point by deepening the meaning in Faulkner s short stories by stating these stories do more than entertain, they explain the world. These stories broaden our view of history, people of different regions, and overall of humanity. In educational science, there is scant interest in the ergonomics of reading and writing, and its potential significance in the learning process. Mangen refers to an experiment involving two groups of adults, in which the participants were assigned the task of having to learn to write in an unknown alphabet, consisting of approximately twenty letters. One group was taught to write by hand, while the other was using a keyboard. Three and six weeks into the experiment, the participants recollection of these letters, as well as their rapidity in distinguishing right and reversed letters, were tested. Those who had learned the letters by handwriting came out best in all tests. Furthermore, fMRI brain scans indicated an activation of the Broca s area within this group. Among those who had learned by typing on keyboards, there was little or no activation of this area. • 36. The Danger of Deep Vein Thrombosis Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a type of cardiovascular disease. DVT is a blood clot that forms in the large deep veins in the leg or pelvis area and grows toward the heart. Including the veins in the calf and thighs, the femoral, popliteal, and iliofemoral vein are also the sites of DVT development. It is a mainly common and dangerous condition (Kesieme et al., 2011). Some DVTs may cause no pain or swelling, whereas others might be quite painful and result in a lot of swelling. Mortality is not high with prompt diagnoses and treatment for most DVTs. However some can be a threat to your life, especially the ones that develop in the deep veins as compared to the clots that develop in the visible superficial veins. Clot which forms in the deep veins is more likely to break free and travel through the veins, which is then called an embolus. When an embolus travels from the legs or pelvis area and lodges into the lung artery, the condition is known as a pulmonary embolism or PE. This is a potentially fatal condition if it is not treated immediately and can lead to death. As high as 50% of the time a DVT can progress to pulmonary embolism. Collectively, DVT and PE are known as venous thromboembolism (VTE). DVT and PE are highly preventable (Kesieme et al., 2011). Both DVT and PE are a major public health problem worldwide. • 38. Effectiveness Of Body Weight Management INTRODUCTION Many procedures used for body weight management by athletes can lead to a number of negative side effects which could play a significant role in decreasing physiological performance during the competitive season. Most of the time this occurs with athletes trying to lose weight to perform at a lighter weight class in their respective sport. Some of the methods used to reach a lower desired body weight include low calorie diets, deliberate dehydration, and saunas (Oppliger, 2003). These methods have been shown to decrease strength and power, overall health, physiological function, water balance, electrolytes, glycogen and lean body mass in athletes (Oppliger, 1996). If athletes could utilize a diet that would avoid these negative side effects but still allow them to reach their desired weight goal, all while maintaining their strength, power and lean mass this could be a truly useful method to allow peak performance during competition. One of the sports where maintaining muscular size, and definition while decreasing body fat is extremely important is bodybuilding (Slater, 2011). One of the more popular methods for bodybuilders to do this is by using a very low carbohydrate ketogenic diet (VLCKD). It is something we all experience, especially on a mental stage which may make us question everything. This is the exact time in his life that writer and holocaust survivor Elie Wiesel was put through the destruction of six million jews along with millions of other people in europe under the iron fist of Nazi germany. We can see him mature and adapt throughout his journey from the ghettos to concentration camps like Auschwitz, birkenau, buna, and buchenwald, but the book ends directly after he is liberated. This leaves us wondering, how has he changed after the holocaust? Did he still mature and how have his outlooks been refined on his past since he left buchenwald? The first glimpse we get into Elie Wiesel s views after the holocaust is the preface of his story night. Written not so long after he escaped death in the concentration camps, it mostly shows he has unrefined, common views of remorse and regret on behalf of the Jews who died. He does hold some more unique and negative views about the event. In particular the soul of the human race as a whole. Although many survivors were eager to share their experiences in order to sway the public, Wiesel was scared that no one would believe him.
