The Birth Of Preterm Births Essay
Regardless of healthcare and medical advances, birth outcome disparities continue to exist in the
United States. In 2014, 1 out of 10 infant births were premature, correlating to over 380,000 infants
born prematurely (Health 2016). The current national average for infant births before 37 weeks is
9.6% (Services 2010). Premature birth is identified as a birth that occurs before the 37 week gestation.
During the preterm period, infants are placed at a high risk of death and developing disabilities that
may cause permanent handicap. Mothers that give birth preterm may partake in risky behaviors such
as smoking and drug usage, lack proper nutrition, and are burdened financially. Maternal education
intervention programs centered around the Health Belief Model may have a positive impact on
maternal care and prevent premature birth. Background Despite countless medical advancements and
technology, preterm births continue to plague the nation as a public health issue. Preterm births have
become a devastating issue that has caused government agencies to intervene. There are a variety of
risk factors that may contribute to a mother delivering a child preterm, such as smoking, lack of
prenatal supplements, and social disadvantages, which may cause severe stress (Räisänen S., M.
Gissler , J. Saari, M. Kramer, S. Heinonen S 2013). Any combination of these risk factors may
increase a mother s chance for delivering a child preterm. During the preterm period, infants are

Policy In Pakistan
US policy in Pakistan largely centres around expending military aid to combat regional terrorism and
facilitate peace in Afghanistan. However, it has hardly achieved any tangible results.
The Pakistani army, which supersedes it s elected government, diverted these funds towards anti India
terror factions for covert proxy wars due to it s historic rivalry with India. These terror factions carried
out the Mumbai terror attacks in 2008, attracting censure from Pakistan s civilians and international
condemnation at a time when US strategic convergence with India was growing. Simultaneous
changes in Pakistan s military leadership led to attempts to dissolve these groups, who turned on it
instead. They subsequently allied themselves with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The fundamental problem was a lack of leverage : Pakistan had no interest in a peaceful Afghanistan
but the US had no other partner to turn to.
Eventually, the Pakistan army lost control over some of these terror groups, who linked up with al
Qaeda, Taliban and more recently, the Islamic State, across the porous Afghanistan border. In light of
pressure from the US and it s growing non state actors, the Pakistan military attempted to curb these
groups but failed. Consequently, these groups pledged alliance to one of al Qaeda, Taliban or the
Islamic State and amped up terror attacks within Pakistan. This reached the tipping point in December
2014, when members of the Tehrik i Taliban Pakistan killed 243 children in an army school. In
response, the Pakistani army killed 3500 terrorists of the Tehrik i Taliban Pakistan and other internal
terror factions in Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) near the Afghanistan border, over the
last two years. Simultaneously, the Pakistani media blamed the US for Pakistan s thriving internal
violence and anti American sentiment amongst civilians grew.
While this was a major counter terrorism initiative, Pakistan has an episodic history of reverting to
proxy terrorism. It continues to harbour anti India terror groups, which could be refocused towards
India, once tensions with the Tehrik i Taliban subside and Pakistan could resume double crossing the
US. However,

Select your favorite vegetable or fruit and research its origin, nutritional value, uses, and folklore
The apple goes pretty far down toward history as one of the most notable fruits. It is dated with myths
such as Adam and Eve from the Book of Genesis and was referred to as the forbidden fruit ( Apple
Lore , n.d). They have been said to originate from the mountains of Kazakhstan about a million years
ago (Synan, 2013).The accepted scientific name for the apple is Malus pumila but is also referred to as
Malus domestica, Malus sylvestris, and Malus communis depending on their nature (Black, n.d.).

The apple contains Vitamin C and is rich in dietary fiber (Rudrappa, 2009). Since the apple is enriched
in Vitamin C and the phyto nutrients flavonoids and polyphenolics, it acts as a huge antioxidant and
helps protect from cancer causing chemicals and other diseases and infections (Rudrappa, 2009). It is
an ideal fruit to combat Parkinson s disease and Alzheimer s disease. However, though the apple is
low in calories, it can contain minerals such as folate, potassium and niacin. Potassium is good for
improving cardiac health and even assists in controlling blood pressure. Wild and raw apples are also
made up of 80% water and assist in digestion (Synan, 2013). In addition, apples are used to improve

Internet Censorship of Child Porngraphy Essay
They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor
safety. Benjamin Franklin.
Technically speaking, internet censorship is difficult to achieve. Proponents of this measure seem to
have neglected the fact that putting in place a system of surveillance requires the establishment of
clear, unalterable rules. But often, such a task can be almost unfeasible since it is quite problematical
to define precisely the information that is supposed to be blocked. In the context of hate speech for
example, it is important to acknowledge the existence of a line between criticism, whether it is
constructive or not, and pure animosity.

When it comes to legal videos that may be inappropriate, the team instantly resorts to age restriction.
Both of these internet giants encourage free speech while supervising it and immediately removing
content that is clearly offensive to the general public. This concept of self regulation is a good
alternative to extensive Internet censorship, since the website only has its own contents to focus on,
rather than having an entire system of surveillance watching over the web, with the risk of it making
errors in the process. Most importantly, the main idea behind these guidelines is not censorship, but
moral, reasonable control.
We should not let the government interfere and impose its draconian laws. Censorship is nothing but a
violation of fundamental civil rights, starting with freedom of speech. By defying the First Law of
Amendment (reference), internet surveillance will only give the government greater power to run our
lives. Without our free will and autonomy, we are helpless, incapable of making a change. The Internet
is a place that promotes freedom, in all its forms. Web surfers connect to each other and share their
ideas for the world to read. Above all, they become fearless. They stop thinking about who could stop
them because they know that they are united, in this huge yet intimate world. Anarchists from all over

Correlation Between Network And Network
Interaction points of spatial networks are linked to each other by what the writer s term as channels,
and they re the paths through which material is transported. A definite sequence of linked edges in
spatially embedded graph will form a channel. As you look at figure 1a, the roads are your channels,
the pipeline network pipes, and tracks in railway networks are different examples of channels. The
channels of which the writers have termed have exactly two end points, where the end points of a
channel can intersect with other channels or they can remain free. An example of this is: one of the
channel l3 end points intersects with the channel l7 at the point of j6. On the other hand, the end point
will not intersect with any other channel, it will represents a dead end. This dead end can be
considered as an extremity of a network, so they call it boundary of the network. So if you direct your
attention to figure 1b you can see that all the points marked by hollow circles are boundary points for
the network. Channels cannot only specified by geometry of edges, it can also be defined by a names
attached to the geometry. Example: highway Interstate 75 cannot be recognized in a network by its
geometry alone. In order to identify it, you will have to locate every point in the Euclidean plane
which have the name Interstate 75. In their model of spatial networks, they assigned thematic attribute
values to every point of a channel. Now the attribute values can be used to recognize

Natural Selection Paper
Natural Selection Paper Natural selection is considered one of the most important processes for a
variety of species and the environment which allows the fittest organisms to produce offspring. To
prevent a species from extinction, it is necessary for them to adapt to the surrounding environment.
The species which have the ability to adapt to new surroundings will be able to pass their genes
through reproduction. Within the process of natural selection, it is possible for the original genetic
make up of a species to become altered. The team will report on the different processes of basic
mechanisms of evolution, how natural selection results in biodiversity and why biodiversity is
important to continued evolution. The sources of genetic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Why Biodiversity is Important to Continued Evolution
The three levels of biodiversity are as follows: diversity of the ecosystems, diversity of species within
the communities and diversity within species. The loss of species within the ecosystems and within
the community can cause a catastrophic result, as species live and feed on other species. Species close
to extinction are endangered species, therefore protecting them from predators and offering the chance
to reproduce and repopulate. Unfortunately, with little support within the environment, a species can
become extinct due to population density. Proper monitoring of an endangered species is required in
order to keep species actively reproducing and changing with the environment around them.
There is another side to the biodiversity of the evolutionary field, as the population weakens the
species start the inbreeding of smaller populations, thus playing a role in the extinction of a species.
Inbreeding is reproduction among members of a species that are genetically similar. The genetic
inbreeding is designed to bolster populations of species whose numbers are in decline. However, when
only a few species or varieties of a species are cultivated or survive, the genetic diversity of the
organism declines, and population is more vulnerable to being wiped out by new diseases or climate
changes because of the inbreeding (Alters, 2000). Conservation biologists recognize that biodiversity
can be sustained only

Louis Armstrong Song Analysis
Summary: Louis Armstrong singing is remarkable. I can understand why he inspired so many people
in the music industry. What I love about this album is his singing and his form in trumpet playing.
Listening to Armstrong voice, as well as his lyrics, flushes away my sorrow when I listen to What a
Wonderful World and Sittin in the Sun. These types of songs help me appreciate what I have.
Armstrong duet with Bing Cosby is adorable. Gone Fishin song has humor, in addition, both man
scats singing makes me smile. Armstrong and Cosby voices work well in numerous levels together.
When you Smile (The World Smile with you) is one of my favorites. I can never get enough of this
song. The way Armstrong plays his trumpet is truly tremendous the timing of his trumpet playing with
his notes is on point.

Debate Process Cost
Why Does The Probate Process Cost So Much?
When the time comes for your family to divide your estate according to your will, your family will
need to go through the costly and lengthy process of probate The larger your estate is, the longer the
process will take, and the more expensive it will be. Why does the probate process cost so much?
These are the different costs that are associated with probate.
Court Costs
Each state has their own set of fees that that court will charge for their services. They can range
between hundreds or thousands of dollars depending on what the court does.
For example, Massachusetts will charge $375 to petition the appointment of a trustee, plus an
additional $15 surcharge for each person that petitions. That is ... Show more content on

A basic estate with no more than a home and bank account can expect to pay minimal accounting
costs. If you have a much larger estate with stocks, bonds, property, a small business, and several
pieces of property, your accounting costs will be much greater. Accounting costs will even cover filing
an estate s federal tax return if it needs to be done.
Appraisal Costs
Your bank accounts are very easy to place a dollar value on, but other things are not. That is where
appraisal costs come in. To determine the total value of your estate, things such as real estate and
personal property will need to be appraised. Your estate will pay for the appraisal fees.
Miscellaneous Costs
Do not expect to get anything for free during the probate process. The estate will be charged for things
as small as postage needed to mail documents and notices. If there are costs associated with storing,
insuring, and moving personal property, those costs will be passed along to the estate as well.
Thankfully, there are ways to minimize the amount of probate your family and friends will have to go
through. Work with an estate lawyer to find alternate ways to divide your

Comparing The Charge of the Light Brigade and Dulce ET Decorum EST
The poems The Charge of the Light Brigade and Dulce ET Decorum EST are war poems. They reflect
on two different but equally harrowing events, however the poets portray these events using their own
style and the and result is two entirely different views of war.
Alfred Tennyson wrote the Charge of the Light Brigade in 1854 and it is about the battle of Balaclava
in the Crimean war. Although this battle had no real influence on the outcome of the war it showed the
bravery of six hundred British soldiers who charged into almost certain death. The poem itself is a
patriotic ballad keeping up with the tradition of the time. The poem is heroic and romantic. ... Show

On the other hand however he can also speed up the poem Storm d at with shot and shell, While horse
and hero fell , to give a sense of frenzy.
Owen s use of punctuation to convey a mood is depicted here His hanging face, like a devils sick of
sin; If you could hear, at every jolt, the blood come gargling from the froth corrupted lungs .
Although there are many similarities between the poems if you were to read them each shows an
entirely different aspect of war. Tennyson glamorises the war. His views of the war are very positive
and he sees it as an opportunity for a man to prove himself. He speaks of the qualities of these men, of
their bravery. They are charging in to almost certain death but yet they still follow orders and fight on
in the valley of death . He doesn t speak of the fact that this was a huge mistake by the general to send
his men into almost certain death. He reflects the popular and widespread opinion of the time, which
was that war was a great thing and all young men looked forward to being able to serve and die for
their country. The main reason for this belief was that there hadn t been a major war fought in Britain
for the past two hundred or so years and people didn t realise the horrors that war brought. Tennyson s
poem has none of the gory details of Dulce ET Decorum EST . Tennyson s poem is removed from the

Roaring Twenties
As conceded by most historians, the New Era and the repercussions that followed was the unequivocal
component which stabilized the economy and allowed for great prosperity throughout America. Such
national affluence gave birth to the revered Roaring Twenties, a period where striking changes
occurred in the economic, political, and social realms. Americans of all ages (though specifically
younger generations) enjoyed new forms of entertainment through the debut of jazz and radio in
addition to the introduction of a mass consumer culture. Just as the development of music, technology,
and economics heavily influenced the labeling of the 1920s, the overall economic progression of
women s role in society made considerable impressions on the ... Show more content on

Such changing tides prompted an ebbing of the poverty stricken sphere and a drastic swelling of
middle class persons, who later dominated early socioeconomics. Additionally, the flourishing
bourgeois reconstructed maternal roles as women became increasingly active in their husband s social
lives, diverting their attention from child care and domestic tasks in what became known as
companionate marriage. Industrial advances heavily influenced standards of mass consumer culture in
which individuals could purchase items not just out of necessity as their ancestors did, but also out of
sheer luxury. Technologies such as refrigerators, washing machines, and irons revolutionized domestic
life by significantly reducing the amount of chores. Women, specifically, could now enjoy
conventional leisure through shopping. For business and other markets, the creation and integration of
installment plans credit systems which allowed for the immediate purchase and later payment of items
proved to be quite lucrative, as young creditors often fell deep into debt. Though countless reasons
have been attributed to the cause of the Great Depression in following years, many historians argue
that this accumulation of debt not only contributed to the Roaring Twenties but also brought an end to

Morgaine speaks.... In my time I have been called many things: sister, lover, priestess, wise woman,
queen. So begins Marion Zimmer Bradley s account of the Arthurian legend, which places unusual
emphasis on the character of Morgaine, otherwise known as Morgan Le
Fay. But who exactly is Morgan and how does she vary in the different accounts of the

important to establish who she is and what part she plays in the legend. Five different texts: Geoffrey

The original full retelling of the Arthur story, Monmouth s The History of the
Kings of Britain, has few female characters. Morgan Le Fay is once such decided absence.
Not only does she play no part whatsoever in the legend, but she is never even mentioned.
Mordred, who is often her son by an incestuous relationship with Arthur, is instead the son of Anna
and her husband, Loth, the King of Lothian. Anna is as close as Monmouth gets to a Morgan like
character. She is the sister of Arthur, and daughter of Igraine and Uther.
She gives birth to Mordred, who is the means by which Arthur s death comes about, and
Gawain, one of Arthurs most loyal and trusted knights. Le Morte D Arthur by Malory shows an
entirely different perspective as to the role and person of Morgan Le Fay in the Arthurian legend. She
is one of Arthur s three sisters, the others being Morgause and Elaine. Morgause marries King Lot of
Lothian and has four sons including Gawaine while Elaine marries King Nentis. Arthur has an
incestuous relationship with Morgause and she gives birth to Mordred. Meanwhile
Morgan is continually conspiring against Arthur in an attempt to avenge his father s poor treatment of

So I had to settle with just being able to take pictures of the school and the diversities that the students
see every day. One sociological theme is illustrated throughout these photos. It is the diversities that
can be seen in a public school, in Mecklenburg County. The sociological literature on the diversities in
schooling includes several chapters we ve read, including Chapter 1 and chapter 7 readings. These
chapters demonstrate diversities that can be seen in schools, such as gender, race, and sexism.
Together these readings support the patterns that the photos reveal. This picture was taken in the main

Core Concert Dance
The CORE Concert Dance Company show presented the dance style of contemporary with the
addition to aerial choreography. The dancers presented many movements through the use of their
bodies that stemmed from choreography in ballet and modern dance moves. With contemporary being
my all time favorite style, the dancers provided a sense of freedom, expression, and unpredictability in
the ways they articulated the movement of the body itself and the objects that were used. In many of
the different pieces that were shown, I noticed that many of the dancers movements in the
choreography involved the torso. The use the torso enabled me to capture the movement of relaxation
that gave off a sense of fluidity and ease through the transition of the next ... Show more content on

The movement related to the four core principles: personal style, improvisation, dynamic play, and a
deep connection to the music in order to convey an expression and a sense of rhythmic movement.
During the performance there were a lot of joyousness and call and response in the choreography. The
areas that contained these social elements were when the dancers were suspended in the air while
doing aerial and partner work on the floor. Throughout the entire show the use of the kinetic elements
such as a bent knee, body part isolations and the use of a flat foot gave an insight on how much
training a dancer had. The aerial dancers especially displayed body isolations when they had to do
splits and hold on to the ropes with one hand while in the air. Without the isolations in the body
movement and the control of the dancers, aerial work would be very difficult to manage since it
requires control and articulation of certain body parts. Contemporary dance can be thought of as jazz
derived or jazz influenced, but jazz will always remain strict on what the movement is supposed to be
and how it supposed to be articulated. One of the main differences between contemporary and jazz is
that in jazz gravity is felt a different way. In contemporary there is an urge to give into gravity such

Difference Between Absolute And Nietzsche

Escaping Modernity: Freedom and Happiness at the End of History An argument exists that there is a
difference in the conception of Hegel in the relationship of agency and the absolute with that of
Nietzsche and Heidegger. My argument now is that the difference in Hegel s conception of the
relationship of agency and absolute is fundamentally different from that of Nietzsche and Heidegger in
that, according to Hegel, we can, through reason fathom the absolute and though we constitute it, we
can never be the absolute. Nietzsche and Heidegger, on the other hand, locate the absolute in human
where they demand that the whole (worthy) human subsumes the absolute. My thinking is that
Nietzsche is concerned with the master ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Radical transformation of the IT industry and the altered competitive situation The overall structure of

A Brief Biography of E.E. Cummings
E.E. Cummings named the most popular voice of the twentieth century. His death struck the world and
saddened many. Cumming, who wrote nearly 2900 poems, had a rather hard life. He inspired many to
write poems.
E.E. Cummings was born on October 14, 1894 in Cambridge, Massachusetts (E.E Cummings,

Representation Of Cleopatra
Cleopatra V11, the last ruler of the Ptolemaic Dynasty of Egypt, reigned from 51BCE to 30BCE.
Historians face a number of challenges in building an accurate representation of Cleopatra due to the
minimal surviving Hellenistic sources that are outnumbered by Roman and Greek sources. She was
discredited by many Roman writers under Octavian s influence as she posed a threat to the Roman
empire due to her connections with Rome s most powerful men. Cleopatra manipulated her physical
representation to suit different beliefs and values to gain respect in Egypt and abroad. This suggests
Cleopatra s representation was primarily formed in response to her own ambitions and those of others.
Octavian and Roman writers under his influence created a negative representation of Cleopatra
because she was a threat to the Roman empire due to her connections with the great Roman general,
Mark Antony. Octavian understood to garner the fealty of the Romans, it was important to slander
Cleopatra s name by shaping her image to go against cultural Roman beliefs and values. Ancient

by exploiting her ethnicity and Roman prejudice that women with power should be feared. Dio s
reliability can be established through corroboration with ancient secondary source, Florus. He
recounts Cleopatra s demise and asserts: ... the queen throwing herself at Caesar s feet [Octavian],

Rhetorical Analysis Of Donald Trump s Election Of The...
In November 2016, Donald Trump was elected president of the United States. With a campaign
centered around otherization and nationalism, the atmosphere of this election, as well as the attitudes
of the citizens of the country, bears similarities to 1930s Nazi Germany. While it may initially seem
far fetched to compare Donald Trump s election to Adolf Hitler s rise to power, both campaigns utilize
nationalistic, racist sentiment and a fear of the foreign other to gain power within the country.
Moreover, both campaigns utilize propaganda and the media in their own way to generate hatred and
fear to further their own goals. I will argue that these tactics used by Donald Trump has inspired
numerous acts of hatred, and that any person who is not a white male has a reason to fear Trump s
presidency.
With any essay making a comparison of Hitler and the Nazis, the idea of Godwin s Law should come
into question. Godwin s Law is a popular internet adage that states that as an argument goes on, the
probability that someone compares the other person to Hitler or Nazis approaches 1. What this means
is that when a discussion becomes heated, it becomes off topic, and any potential spreading of facts
and information halts; instead, the participants in the discussion resort to name calling. Comparing
someone to Hitler a man that is responsible for the deaths of 11 million people and is commonly
referred to as the evilest man to have lived in recent times is akin to insulting

usually electric current, hydraulic fluid pressure, or pneumatic pressure, and translates that energy into
motion. The use of robotics for microwaves impacts the society in domestic situations. The robot
fulfils its intended purpose, which is to assist operators with their household requirements. The
automated system saves time and increases productivity as it follows a series of instructions given by
the constructor. The buttons on the membrane keyboard allows operators to modify and alter their
requirements, which can be made for easier use. The intelligence of this robotics technology leads to a
major impact on society. There are over billions of microwaves in the shops today, which are typically
used to assist people with their everyday life. When people want to warm foods, they do it through the
use of this robot technology. A microwave heats food by passing radiation through it specifically
known as microwave radiation. Microwaves can be known as a form of non ionizing electromagnetic
radiation that have a frequency higher than ordinary radio waves but the frequency is lower than
infrared light. Microwaves use radio waves at an exact set frequency to stir water molecules

When the Maya began settling in the lowlands of what is now northern Guatemala around 1000 BCE,
they cleared thick tropical forests in order to farm. They grew crops like beans, squash, avocados and

wood, vines and mud for their houses. Through increased trade, small isolated Mayan villages grew
into large cities. While the Apache used to live in wickiups, made of wooden frames covered by a
buffalo hide tarp, nowadays they live in modern houses and apartment buildings. Traditionally, the
Apache were hunters. The men hunted antelope, buffalo, and deer, while the women collected fruits
and nuts from their surroundings. These days, however their main staple food consists of corn. The
Europeans have different impact on the Maya and the Apache. The Europeans did not have such a big

Effects Of The New Deal Dbq
Having gone through severe unemployment, food shortages, and a seemingly remiss President
Hoover, the American people were beginning to lose hope. But sentiments began to turn as FDR
stepped into office and implemented his New Deal programs. FDR and his administration responded
to the crisis by executing policies that would successfully address reform, relief, and, unsuccessfully,
recovery. Although WWII ultimately recovered America from its depression, it was FDR s response
with the New Deal programs that stopped America s economic downfall, relieved hundreds of
Americans, reformed many policies, and consequently expanded government power.
One of FDR s first orders of business was to respond to the need of reforming the banking system. ...

system. The Social Security Act was also revolutionary in changing the government s role by showing
how a citizen s welfare was now also part of the government s responsibility. All these new programs
and organizations created by the New Deal show how they greatly expanded the government s power
and influence, as shown in Document C. In Document C, the cartoon shows how FDR s New Deal
was a progression of small change that consequently led to an expansion of government power. The
New Deal s many reform programs provided a foundation for America to build off of.
FDR s New Deal also sought out to provide relief for Americans. Unemployment rates were high and
poverty was widespread. To solve these problems, FDR created many programs and organizations,
such as the Federal Emergency Relief Administration (FERA), the Civil Works Administration

Document A shows how poor women, and also men, were barely assisted by the government. Urban
unemployment represented a big problem in the US. To solve the unemployment issue, FDR
implemented the CWA, which gave jobs to many people to build or repair roads, buildings, and other
structures. This was very effective because it not only dealt with the problem of unemployment,

The question of based on multiple texts/ entertainment ( movies, TV) how has the meaning or
requirements for the island archetype change throughout time has been answered throughout this
paper. Let s break this down one more time. From the nature of the island archetype we can see that
C.G Jung created this for insight on a character which probably is a reason why many of today s origin
stories model after this archetype. The Odyssey and the TV show Arrow were clearly made in seperate
times, and although they have differences, the two stories share similarities, so just look at how the
characters develop. Yes they develop at different times, but the way is basicly the same. The two
Batman stories really show a difference, we see a major emotional change from a confident playboy
millionaire to a angery almost murderer. Finally, we sum this up and see that the island archetype
origin story is basically essential to a character s development. C.G Jung painted the way for literature
for growth and new ideas, but he didn t realize that his idea, the island archetype was the revolutionary
idea that used the entire paint can of the

Battle Of The Sexes Analysis
The Battle of the Sexes Sherlock Holmes is the fundamental character of the wrongdoing/puzzle novel
and scene arrangement. Holmes demonstrates the way his observational aptitudes help him to prevail
as an investigator. Holmes is considered to demonstrate no feeling along these lines, directing him as
the machine . Holmes demonstrates a ton of routes on how he makes sense of the cases he researches.
The viewer can see the connection amongst Adler and Holmes indicates the way they tend to each

communicates his observational abilities and apathetic traits diversely in A Scandal in Bohemia than
in A Scandal in Belgravia .
The short story A Scandal in Bohemia concentrates on how Irene Adler breaks Sherlock Holmes
down. Sherlock Holmes is known for being the most brilliant individual in the room. Holmes never
needs to stress over somebody out hurting him, until the point when he meets the woman . Everybody
knows Holmes to be the man that knows how to explain any case that is tossed at him, aside from in
this one. In the story, Holmes is procured to make sense of where Adler has the critical photos covered
up. Holmes goes to discover Adler, however discovers she has been away for some time. Adler leaves
a snapshot and letter for Holmes. Knowing Holmes as the best criminologist ever, he has never been
out smarted by anybody. As Adler being a lady Holmes never anticipated that her mind would have
the capacity to deceive him. Men are customized uniquely in contrast to ladies which influences
Holmes self image to diminish by being incited by a lady, the best plans of Mr. Sherlock Holmes were
beaten by a woman s wit (Doyle; 26). Holmes is tested by affliction with Adler deceiving him, which
then gets him to crumble. Perusers can tell that Holmes feels like he lost his heart or soul. Watson
says, And when he speaks of Irene Adler, or when he refers to her photograph, it is always under the
honourable title of the woman (26). After him coming up short, Holmes still alludes to her as the
woman rather than Irene Adler. Holmes can t even mention Alders name which the reader can tell how

Trees on Earth
Introduction:
Some of the trees on earth have existed for longer than three thousand years. They have lived across
history from even before the days of Jesus Christ. God has provided these trees with his care and has
protected them from natural disasters. He saved them from everything ranging from droughts to
floods. Yet, the Almighty wasn t able to provide them with immunity from the foolishness and
shortsightedness of man. The development of humanity and technology is causing the destruction of
the nature in order to have big investments. This process of destruction is called deforestation which is
going to by my choice of topic for this paper. Deforestation is the elimination of a forest or stand of
trees where the land is thereafter converted to a non forest use. Examples of deforestation include
conversion of forestland to farms, ranches, or urban use. The reason I chose this topic is because we
are clearly noticing that our nature is in big danger through the destruction of forest and trees which
increased my curiosity to know the reason behind this and maybe find a solution for it.

Competition Is The Cornerstone Of Capitalism
Competition is the cornerstone of capitalism. It creates rivalry among businesses to produce quality
goods and services at competitive prices. This gives consumers a better sense of variety when making
purchases. Competition in its purest form creates small buyers and sellers none of which are too large
to negatively affect the market as a whole. Competitive markets can be dated back to ancient times
when merchants competed in foreign trade. In the 19th century economists considered competition as
a natural phenomenon in which growth of an operation was fueled by supply and demand in a free
market economy. They also believed that supply and demand worked better in a laissez faire type
environment. This was possible through freedom to trade, transparent knowledge of market
conditions, no government restrictions on trade, and access to buyers and sellers. These conditions
prevented any buyer or seller to significantly affect the market price of a single commodity. After the
mid 1800 s, limitations to compete became evident during the industrial revolution. Corporations
achieved manufacturing capabilities that would surpass their competitors and would allow them to fix
prices and squeeze out their rivals. Eventually some businesses became so large that they controlled
enough market share to deceptively manipulate prices in their industry. This activity created an
atmosphere for President Theodore Roosevelt to launch his famous trust busting campaigns. The era

Adolescence In Irving Washington, The Devil And Tom Walker
Adolescence is a fundamental part of development of characteristics, as youth grow, they indulge
immaturity and naivety. Temptation is a primary initial in Irving Washington, The Devil and Tom

people give up for money, and in exchange for materialism. Adolescents today foretell the themes of
the deal with the devil and is referenced in modern American life. In The Devil and Tom Walker, Tom

adolescents are hypocritical. Adolescents are intrusive but desire privacy. Despite of adolescents lack

Walt Disney Parks Resorts Management Strategy Essay
Walt Disney Parks and Resorts
Management Strategy amp; Policy
For my final paper I chose to discuss The Walt Disney Company. Since the Company is so large and
made up of four primary business segments, I decided to focus on one particular segment: Parks and
Resorts. This segment is composed of the theme parks, cruise line, and vacation club resorts. The Walt
Disney Company Parks and Resorts strive to be the leader in innovative and creative family
entertainment in the world. The mission of The Walt Disney Company Parks and Resorts is to provide
magical experiences to all guests that visit our Parks and Resorts. We use technology, innovation, and
imagination to create a unique entertainment experience comparable to nothing else. ... Show more

Even in the United States, Disneyworld (Florida) and Disneyland (California) vary in there social
forces. Cast Members (Disney s term for employees) in CA are trained to be friendly and greet every
guest, while in FL they are trained to only greet guests who seek them out. The political, legal, and
regulatory factors again, vary from theme park to theme park. The parks in the United States have
more restrictions than say those of Hong Kong, China. In the U.S, minors (age 15 17) are only
allowed to work 20 hours a week. In Hong Kong, young persons (ages 15 17) are allowed to work up
to 48 hours a week. Regulatory factors such as this differ in each region. The Walt Disney Company
Parks and Resorts has quite an extreme variety of natural environments. The weather in Florida for
example can get in the 100 s regularly whereas in California it can get as cold as the low 50 s. These
weather conditions actually are a big factor in guests determining which park they want to visit.
Technology seems to stay consistent between most of the theme parks. In fact, many of the theme
parks have some of the same rides at their parks. The global forces actually can create threats to the
company. The addition of the newest theme park to the company, Shanghai Disney, took several years
to become accepted. This has been common throughout the duration of The Walt Disney Company.
Many people vote against a new theme park or resort because of the crowds that it

Social Responsibility in the development of Alberta s Oil...
Introduction:
The oil sands development in northern Alberta has become a hot bed for debate between producers
and environmental groups. With worldwide water crisis rapidly developing the use of water in the
development Alberta s oil sands begs the question, are the oil sands in northern Alberta being
developed with social responsibility in mind? Social responsibility is a balance companies must
maintain between people, the planet and profit. Propaganda produced by environmental agencies and
oil companies must be examined for biases; environmentalists seem to blame all of Canada s
environmental ailments on evil oil companies (Thompson, 2012).
Stakeholders Affected: With so many people involved with the development of Alberta s oil ... Show

Government has been working closely with industry for years, which is also a key factor in developing
the oil sands in a socially responsible way. Most major oil companies are involved with initiatives like
Water for Life Strategy, Alberta Water Council and Petroleum Technology Alliance Canada (CAPP,
2012). Alberta s oil sands are being developed with social responsibility in mind.
Dr. Lorne Taylor (2012, p. 3), the chair of the Alberta Water Research Institute, states, Organizations
like Greenpeace and the Sierra Club are convincing Canadians and the world that Alberta s oil sands
are a scourge on the environment . Environmental groups and the media are unfortunately shedding a
poor light on the development of the oil sands in northern Alberta. Bob Weinhold (2011, pg. 119), a
veteran environmental journalist, states the Royal Society of Canada (RSC) panel found no evidence
that people are currently being harmed by oil sands activity . Both the environmentalist side and the
oil sands producer s side must be evaluated with an objective mind as each contains truths as well as
embellishments. Taylor (2009, pg. 2) argues that a major misconception is the province, people and
industry of Alberta

The Argentine Process Of National Reorganization
The Argentine Process Of National Reorganization, more commonly known as the Dirty War, was a
period from roughly 1974 to 1983 when the president was deposed and the entire government was
taken control of by the military. This decade of civil destruction, turmoil, and human rights violations
was part of the military s plan to rid the country of the radical left and communist subversion. The
junta spoke of a New Argentina, one full of prosperity for all its citizens, order and no longer chaos,
they preached they would bring back Argentina s glory days. For all this talk of an Argentina that
would be once again a world power, no one knew of the atrocities the military would commit in the
process. They did not think of the innocent lives ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This stance made him popular amongst conservatives as well. While he started his ten year term with
large support, the cracks slowly started to show as the years progressed. In the beginning, his wife
Evita helped grow his appeal as she became a cult figure and created woman s institutions like a
women Perónist party. But after years of a healthy looking economy and growth, problems started to
arise in 1949. Inflation began to rise and unemployment grew. Perón tried to fix this by creating new
government jobs to make it look as if there was no problem. Many of his political opponents were
tortured, detained, or exiled. This also led to the signs of huge government corruption. After being
elected for another term in 1952, Perón tries to make his wife vice president to which the military
leaders said he was not allowed. Shortly after his reelection, Evita dies of cancer. This along with the
seemingly unfixable problem which was the economy, assassination plots began to be muttered.
Military rebellions began to break out around the country and Perón had the police round up his
opponents. Seeing the country in chaos, Perón resigns in 1955 and is exiled to Paraguay and then
Spain. The military was in control again and proceeded to ban the Perónist party. With Perón setting a
precedent for mass protest in the country, the 20 years before the beginning of the dirty war were a
battle between military intervention and the

Technology and Communication Paper
Technology has affected all aspects of life and the criminal justice system is no exception. There are
so many ways where technology has been incorporated in the criminal justice and police departments
that I really do not know where to start. The invention of the lie detector test was huge in my opinion.
It can be given in the criminal justice system to try to get to the bottom of the truth. In police
departments you have the use of closed circuit televisions for property security, cameras in police
units, tape recorders used in police units and when conducting investigations and so forth.
In my opinion technological advancements enhance the effectiveness of communication. Let s take

In my opinion this is an excellent technological advancement that saves time and improves accuracy.
Facial recognition technology makes use of unalterable features of a face, such as the distance
between the centers of the pupils of the eye. It then uses an algorithm, a finite set of steps for solving a
problem, which converts the image to numbers . Weiss, Davis (2004)
Live scan is a fingerprint system that can be used in the criminal justice system and also for non
criminal justice use. Most law enforcement departments require all officers to be fingerprinted using
live scan technology. Once an officer is fingerprinted, his or her records are sent into varies databases.
The officers are required to be free of a criminal background so the prints are checks for previous
crimes. The prints are then sent to Sacramento (California) to various departments for processing such
as BSIC which is the Bureau of Security and Investigative Services. Because live scan is inkless it
saves paper and time because it s electronic which is better for the environment and more convenient
for law enforcement agencies. When a criminal is arrested his or her fingerprints are taken with the
live scan system and cross referenced for a match in a number of systems including the FBI. If there is
a match then the information is sent to the police department which includes the suspect s weight,
height, sex, and date of birth.

A Brief Biography of C.S. Lewis
C.S. Lewis is one of the greatest authors in history. His books are still widely available and sold to
many interested readers. In Lewis childhood, he experienced a tragedy that affected his belief in god;
in his middle life, he mainly focused on college and his studies, but his father s death played a role in
Lewis later becoming a Christian. In Lewis later life, he married one of his own fans. Clive s passion
for writing began when he was a small child, and it continued to grow as he furthered his education to
become a college professor at Oxford University. Lewis is still remembered today for his great works,
such as The Screwtape Letters and The Chronicles of Narnia, which is a popular series among
children. Clive Staples Lewis was born on November 29, 1898, to his parents, Albert and Florentine
Lewis. He was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Clive had one older brother, Warren, and became
best friends as they grew older. Clive was four years old when he told everyone to call him Jackie.
Following suit to his younger brother, Warren also changed his name, and chose Warnie. Jackie and
his family moved to a house called Little Lea in the countryside. Jackie s many activities included
riding his bike, exploring Little Lea, and reading and writing stories. Jackie wrote his first book when
he was seven years old, and titled it Boxen. His favorite books to read were about Viking legends,
medieval knights, and myths. When Lewis was nine years old, Flora,

Selfishness in The Necklace by Guy de Maupassant Essay
Selfishness in The Necklace by Maupassant
In Guy de Maupassant s, The Necklace all the characters in the story exhibit similar behavior by
showing that they think of themselves rather than of others. A close look at the behavior of the
characters in The Necklace reveals more than a story about a spoiled selfish woman, but what we see
is a story about a whole society of selfish people.
In The Necklace a woman named Mathilde lives a depressed life because she does not live the life
style that she desires. She was one of those pretty and charming women, born, as if by an error of
destiny into a family of clerks and copyists. She had no dowry, no prospects, no way of getting
known, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They leave in a rush because Mathilde doesn t want the other ladies to her in a modest, everyday wrap
while they were wearing expensive furs. When they arrive home they realize the necklace is gone, so
they retrace their steps trying to find it. When they have no luck, they buy the necklace for thirty six
thousand francs borrowing every cent from people. They spend ten years repaying everything back
including interest. When it is over, Mathilde confesses to her friend and receives the shocking news
that the necklace was costume jewelry and only worth a mere 500 francs at most.
In The Necklace, Mathilde is very selfish throughout the story. Mathilde shows her selfishness when
she longs to be rich and live in a nice home, wear expensive clothing and wear flashy jewelry with her
clothes. These…show how materialistic Mathilde is and how selfish she is for caring only about
gaining these things for herself, says one critic (Directessays). Mr. Loisel provides the basic
necessities for her to live a good life, but she wants more than just the basic necessities. She wants
wealth and good social status that she does not and can not have. She feels depressed every time she
thinks about wealth or visits her rich friend [Mrs. Forrestier], a comrade from convent days, whom she
did not want to see anymore because she suffered so much

But my personality has a huge roll in this plan. I have to analyze my strengths and weakness during
this process. I consider myself as a perfectionist and a hard worker person and I think these are good
values to treat patients and do the best for them. Similarly, I have development teaching skill through
my life which is an important part to complete my third goal and to transmit my knowledge to new
students. On the other hand, weakness can become obstacles in this plan. I am not a native English
speaker and this can be considered a barrier competing with other professionals, dealing with patients
or teaching native English students. To overcome that I can refer or contact some mentors that can
give really well advises such as the physician that taught me anatomy, the three PT doctors who were
the instructors during my PTA program and some others professionals I have meet during my
observation hours or clinical experiences.
Objectively, I am going to reassess this plan frequently, maybe every month because some change can
be done depending on the experience I am going to be acquired. As I mention early, the APTA is going
to be the primary resource to implement my plan due to the opportunities it can give us for career

Reflection Paper In English
In my initial submission for Lesson 1, I recall being amused by the statement in the introduction of
Navigating English Grammar that humans have always been fascinated by language. Then, and now,
this still seems like an understatement to me. Language is an incredible facet to me and humans of all
ages. To consider that an infant can communicate with few words and more gestures and then continue
to develop the use of language as the number of words increase proves to be such an interesting
phenomenon which has an influence on a human s existence. This influence permeates throughout
language in formal or informal use. In that same lesson, I recall the childhood influences upon my
language development. Being a young Southern woman, a distinct dialect permeated my childhood
environments; from home, school, and small community, the slow, slang filled conversations
enlightened me in the ways of people around me. This information partnered with the Grammar Quest
proved that my own method of verb usage perplexed me. The instruction received in my local
elementary and middle school demonstrated an error in my grandfather s way of speaking; therefore,
my way of speaking did not follow prescriptive rules, and additional instruction was deemed
necessary. With this review and research of prior writings, the use of verbs and verb forms used in a
prescriptive nature proves to be an area of concern for my own proper use of Standard English.
The following are samples of my own writing; The

with so many questions, ideas and emotions. The play is a series of interviews (reenacted exactly as

The play takes place in Laramie Wyoming, after the hate crime that left 21 year old Matthew Shepard
fighting for his life that ended soon after all because the fact that he was gay. Hate is a feeling and hate
crime is acting on that hatred, but what exactly is a hate crime ? What makes it so different from any

stress disorder, depression and anger, taking as much as 5 years for a victim to overcome the
psychological effects from an attack.
In the article All crimes are hate crimes written by Jim McPherson, he states that hate crime laws tend
to promote inequality rather than curb it. Such laws create special classes of citizens who enjoy a
special status. When you think about it like that it opens the door for so many pros and cons of
whether or not hate crimes should be treated different from any other crime. It is inherently unjust to
punish certain crimes more harshly than others simply because the victim is a member of a special
chosen group, it demeans those who aren t considered special and is contrary to the idea that laws
should apply equally to everyone regardless of race, religion, sexual orientation or other variables. If
someones grandfather is assaulted, should the law care less because he doesn t happen to be gay?

  • 2. The Birth Of Preterm Births Essay Regardless of healthcare and medical advances, birth outcome disparities continue to exist in the United States. In 2014, 1 out of 10 infant births were premature, correlating to over 380,000 infants born prematurely (Health 2016). The current national average for infant births before 37 weeks is 9.6% (Services 2010). Premature birth is identified as a birth that occurs before the 37 week gestation. During the preterm period, infants are placed at a high risk of death and developing disabilities that may cause permanent handicap. Mothers that give birth preterm may partake in risky behaviors such as smoking and drug usage, lack proper nutrition, and are burdened financially. Maternal education intervention programs centered around the Health Belief Model may have a positive impact on maternal care and prevent premature birth. Background Despite countless medical advancements and technology, preterm births continue to plague the nation as a public health issue. Preterm births have become a devastating issue that has caused government agencies to intervene. There are a variety of risk factors that may contribute to a mother delivering a child preterm, such as smoking, lack of prenatal supplements, and social disadvantages, which may cause severe stress (Räisänen S., M. Gissler , J. Saari, M. Kramer, S. Heinonen S 2013). Any combination of these risk factors may increase a mother s chance for delivering a child preterm. • 3. Policy In Pakistan US policy in Pakistan largely centres around expending military aid to combat regional terrorism and facilitate peace in Afghanistan. However, it has hardly achieved any tangible results. The Pakistani army, which supersedes it s elected government, diverted these funds towards anti India terror factions for covert proxy wars due to it s historic rivalry with India. These terror factions carried out the Mumbai terror attacks in 2008, attracting censure from Pakistan s civilians and international condemnation at a time when US strategic convergence with India was growing. Simultaneous changes in Pakistan s military leadership led to attempts to dissolve these groups, who turned on it instead. They subsequently allied themselves with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The fundamental problem was a lack of leverage : Pakistan had no interest in a peaceful Afghanistan but the US had no other partner to turn to. Eventually, the Pakistan army lost control over some of these terror groups, who linked up with al Qaeda, Taliban and more recently, the Islamic State, across the porous Afghanistan border. In light of pressure from the US and it s growing non state actors, the Pakistan military attempted to curb these groups but failed. Consequently, these groups pledged alliance to one of al Qaeda, Taliban or the Islamic State and amped up terror attacks within Pakistan. This reached the tipping point in December 2014, when members of the Tehrik i Taliban Pakistan killed 243 children in an army school. Technically speaking, internet censorship is difficult to achieve. Proponents of this measure seem to have neglected the fact that putting in place a system of surveillance requires the establishment of clear, unalterable rules. But often, such a task can be almost unfeasible since it is quite problematical to define precisely the information that is supposed to be blocked. In the context of hate speech for example, it is important to acknowledge the existence of a line between criticism, whether it is constructive or not, and pure animosity. When it comes to legal videos that may be inappropriate, the team instantly resorts to age restriction. Both of these internet giants encourage free speech while supervising it and immediately removing content that is clearly offensive to the general public. This concept of self regulation is a good alternative to extensive Internet censorship, since the website only has its own contents to focus on, rather than having an entire system of surveillance watching over the web, with the risk of it making errors in the process. Most importantly, the main idea behind these guidelines is not censorship, but moral, reasonable control. We should not let the government interfere and impose its draconian laws. Censorship is nothing but a violation of fundamental civil rights, starting with freedom of speech. By defying the First Law of Amendment (reference), internet surveillance will only give the government greater power to run our lives. Without our free will and autonomy, we are helpless, incapable of making a change. The Internet is a place that promotes freedom, in all its forms. • 6. Correlation Between Network And Network Interaction points of spatial networks are linked to each other by what the writer s term as channels, and they re the paths through which material is transported. A definite sequence of linked edges in spatially embedded graph will form a channel. As you look at figure 1a, the roads are your channels, the pipeline network pipes, and tracks in railway networks are different examples of channels. The channels of which the writers have termed have exactly two end points, where the end points of a channel can intersect with other channels or they can remain free. An example of this is: one of the channel l3 end points intersects with the channel l7 at the point of j6. On the other hand, the end point will not intersect with any other channel, it will represents a dead end. This dead end can be considered as an extremity of a network, so they call it boundary of the network. So if you direct your attention to figure 1b you can see that all the points marked by hollow circles are boundary points for the network. Channels cannot only specified by geometry of edges, it can also be defined by a names attached to the geometry. Example: highway Interstate 75 cannot be recognized in a network by its geometry alone. In order to identify it, you will have to locate every point in the Euclidean plane which have the name Interstate 75. In their model of spatial networks, they assigned thematic attribute values to every point of a channel. Now the attribute values can be used to recognize ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Natural Selection Paper Natural Selection Paper Natural selection is considered one of the most important processes for a variety of species and the environment which allows the fittest organisms to produce offspring. To prevent a species from extinction, it is necessary for them to adapt to the surrounding environment. The species which have the ability to adapt to new surroundings will be able to pass their genes through reproduction. Within the process of natural selection, it is possible for the original genetic make up of a species to become altered. Why Biodiversity is Important to Continued Evolution The three levels of biodiversity are as follows: diversity of the ecosystems, diversity of species within the communities and diversity within species. The loss of species within the ecosystems and within the community can cause a catastrophic result, as species live and feed on other species. Species close to extinction are endangered species, therefore protecting them from predators and offering the chance to reproduce and repopulate. Unfortunately, with little support within the environment, a species can become extinct due to population density. Proper monitoring of an endangered species is required in order to keep species actively reproducing and changing with the environment around them. There is another side to the biodiversity of the evolutionary field, as the population weakens the species start the inbreeding of smaller populations, thus playing a role in the extinction of a species. Inbreeding is reproduction among members of a species that are genetically similar. The genetic inbreeding is designed to bolster populations of species whose numbers are in decline. However, when only a few species or varieties of a species are cultivated or survive, the genetic diversity of the organism declines, and population is more vulnerable to being wiped out by new diseases or climate changes because of the inbreeding (Alters, 2000). Alfred Tennyson wrote the Charge of the Light Brigade in 1854 and it is about the battle of Balaclava in the Crimean war. Americans of all ages (though specifically younger generations) enjoyed new forms of entertainment through the debut of jazz and radio in addition to the introduction of a mass consumer culture. Industrial advances heavily influenced standards of mass consumer culture in which individuals could purchase items not just out of necessity as their ancestors did, but also out of sheer luxury. Technologies such as refrigerators, washing machines, and irons revolutionized domestic life by significantly reducing the amount of chores. Women, specifically, could now enjoy conventional leisure through shopping. For business and other markets, the creation and integration of installment plans credit systems which allowed for the immediate purchase and later payment of items proved to be quite lucrative, as young creditors often fell deep into debt. During the performance there were a lot of joyousness and call and response in the choreography. The areas that contained these social elements were when the dancers were suspended in the air while doing aerial and partner work on the floor. Throughout the entire show the use of the kinetic elements such as a bent knee, body part isolations and the use of a flat foot gave an insight on how much training a dancer had. The aerial dancers especially displayed body isolations when they had to do splits and hold on to the ropes with one hand while in the air. Without the isolations in the body movement and the control of the dancers, aerial work would be very difficult to manage since it requires control and articulation of certain body parts. Contemporary dance can be thought of as jazz derived or jazz influenced, but jazz will always remain strict on what the movement is supposed to be and how it supposed to be articulated. • 25. Representation Of Cleopatra Cleopatra V11, the last ruler of the Ptolemaic Dynasty of Egypt, reigned from 51BCE to 30BCE. Historians face a number of challenges in building an accurate representation of Cleopatra due to the minimal surviving Hellenistic sources that are outnumbered by Roman and Greek sources. She was discredited by many Roman writers under Octavian s influence as she posed a threat to the Roman empire due to her connections with Rome s most powerful men. Cleopatra manipulated her physical representation to suit different beliefs and values to gain respect in Egypt and abroad. This suggests Cleopatra s representation was primarily formed in response to her own ambitions and those of others. Octavian and Roman writers under his influence created a negative representation of Cleopatra because she was a threat to the Roman empire due to her connections with the great Roman general, Mark Antony. Octavian understood to garner the fealty of the Romans, it was important to slander Cleopatra s name by shaping her image to go against cultural Roman beliefs and values. Dio should be used with caution as he was writing more than two hundred years after the speech was given, however, he is useful in showing Octavian s intent to discredit Cleopatra by exploiting her ethnicity and Roman prejudice that women with power should be feared. • 26. Rhetorical Analysis Of Donald Trump s Election Of The... In November 2016, Donald Trump was elected president of the United States. With a campaign centered around otherization and nationalism, the atmosphere of this election, as well as the attitudes of the citizens of the country, bears similarities to 1930s Nazi Germany. While it may initially seem far fetched to compare Donald Trump s election to Adolf Hitler s rise to power, both campaigns utilize nationalistic, racist sentiment and a fear of the foreign other to gain power within the country. Moreover, both campaigns utilize propaganda and the media in their own way to generate hatred and fear to further their own goals. I will argue that these tactics used by Donald Trump has inspired numerous acts of hatred, and that any person who is not a white male has a reason to fear Trump s presidency. With any essay making a comparison of Hitler and the Nazis, the idea of Godwin s Law should come into question. Godwin s Law is a popular internet adage that states that as an argument goes on, the probability that someone compares the other person to Hitler or Nazis approaches 1. What this means is that when a discussion becomes heated, it becomes off topic, and any potential spreading of facts and information halts; instead, the participants in the discussion resort to name calling. Comparing someone to Hitler a man that is responsible for the deaths of 11 million people and is commonly referred to as the evilest man to have lived in recent times is akin to insulting ... • 36. Competition Is The Cornerstone Of Capitalism Competition is the cornerstone of capitalism. It creates rivalry among businesses to produce quality goods and services at competitive prices. This gives consumers a better sense of variety when making purchases. Competition in its purest form creates small buyers and sellers none of which are too large to negatively affect the market as a whole. Competitive markets can be dated back to ancient times when merchants competed in foreign trade. In the 19th century economists considered competition as a natural phenomenon in which growth of an operation was fueled by supply and demand in a free market economy. They also believed that supply and demand worked better in a laissez faire type environment. This was possible through freedom to trade, transparent knowledge of market conditions, no government restrictions on trade, and access to buyers and sellers. These conditions prevented any buyer or seller to significantly affect the market price of a single commodity. After the mid 1800 s, limitations to compete became evident during the industrial revolution. Corporations achieved manufacturing capabilities that would surpass their competitors and would allow them to fix prices and squeeze out their rivals. Eventually some businesses became so large that they controlled enough market share to deceptively manipulate prices in their industry. The invention of the lie detector test was huge in my opinion. It can be given in the criminal justice system to try to get to the bottom of the truth. In police departments you have the use of closed circuit televisions for property security, cameras in police units, tape recorders used in police units and when conducting investigations and so forth. Facial recognition technology makes use of unalterable features of a face, such as the distance between the centers of the pupils of the eye. It then uses an algorithm, a finite set of steps for solving a problem, which converts the image to numbers . Weiss, Davis (2004) Live scan is a fingerprint system that can be used in the criminal justice system and also for non criminal justice use. Most law enforcement departments require all officers to be fingerprinted using live scan technology. Once an officer is fingerprinted, his or her records are sent into varies databases. The officers are required to be free of a criminal background so the prints are checks for previous crimes. The prints are then sent to Sacramento (California) to various departments for processing such as BSIC which is the Bureau of Security and Investigative Services. Because live scan is inkless it saves paper and time because it s electronic which is better for the environment and more convenient for law enforcement agencies. When a criminal is arrested his or her fingerprints are taken with the live scan system and cross referenced for a match in a number of systems including the FBI. If there is a match then the information is sent to the police department which includes the suspect s weight, height, sex, and date of birth. In conclusion ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 47. Reflection Paper In English In my initial submission for Lesson 1, I recall being amused by the statement in the introduction of Navigating English Grammar that humans have always been fascinated by language. Then, and now, this still seems like an understatement to me. Language is an incredible facet to me and humans of all ages. To consider that an infant can communicate with few words and more gestures and then continue to develop the use of language as the number of words increase proves to be such an interesting phenomenon which has an influence on a human s existence. This influence permeates throughout language in formal or informal use. In that same lesson, I recall the childhood influences upon my language development. This information partnered with the Grammar Quest proved that my own method of verb usage perplexed me. The instruction received in my local elementary and middle school demonstrated an error in my grandfather s way of speaking; therefore, my way of speaking did not follow prescriptive rules, and additional instruction was deemed necessary. With this review and research of prior writings, the use of verbs and verb forms used in a prescriptive nature proves to be an area of concern for my own proper use of Standard English. The following are samples of my own writing; The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Such laws create special classes of citizens who enjoy a special status. When you think about it like that it opens the door for so many pros and cons of whether or not hate crimes should be treated different from any other crime. It is inherently unjust to punish certain crimes more harshly than others simply because the victim is a member of a special chosen group, it demeans those who aren t considered special and is contrary to the idea that laws should apply equally to everyone regardless of race, religion, sexual orientation or other variables.
