This document summarizes a new method for temperature compensation of a circular cavity resonator using a low conductivity cooling water system based on convection heat transfer. The method measures the heat load and heat exchange to determine the optimal mass flow rate of cooling water to maintain temperature stability. By analyzing the temperature characteristics and developing a model of the compensated resonator, simulation results confirmed this approach can significantly reduce temperature drift of the resonant frequency compared to an uncompensated design.

NUMERICAL INVESTIGATION OF NATURAL CONVECTION HEAT TRANSFERFROM SQUARE CYLIND...ijmech
The enhancement of natural convection heat transfer using nanofluids from horizontal square cylinder
placed in a square enclosure is investigated numerically. Water-based Cu is used as the working nanofluid.
The investigation covered a range of Rayleigh numbers of 104
- 106
, nanoparticles volume fraction of
(0<ϕ≤0.2), enclosure width to cylinder height ratio, W/H of 2.5. The investigation includes the solution of
the governing equations in the Vorticity-Stream function space with the aid of a body fitted coordinate
system. Algebraic grid generation is used in the initial transformations, followed by an elliptic
transformation to complete the grid generation to computational domain. The resulting discretized system
of equations is solved using an ADI method. The built code is validated and the results showed an increase
in average Nusselt number with increasing the volume fraction of the nanoparticles for the whole range of
Rayleigh number. The isotherms are nearly similar when the volume fraction of nanoparticles is increased
from 0 to 0.2 for each Rayleigh number but a change in the streamlines is observed.
In this day and age of connected living, it is critical for people to interface the wellbeing factors and health conditions into trends so as to picturize the state of health of an individual. In addition, it is essential to include the wearables and therapeutic gears to viably speedup up the treatment cycle. It is equally important to pull health records and scanned images from various systems which follow different standards and ensure that they interact appropriately. These interactions could either be driven from the clinics and hospitals, or performed as a part of awareness by the end users (patients and health conscious individuals). To understand these interactions, we have taken Diabetes management as our use case. Diabetes is turning into a lifestyle disease and hence is an ideal candidate since we need to monitor the health conditions of the patient continuously. The vital parameters of the body could either be monitored through medical devices and equipment, body sensors, mobile applications, or wearables.This paper analyses the solutions proposed so far for effective diabetes management using cloud technology. The paper also touches upon IoT-based solutions which could be used to treat chronic ailments from remote locations.

Against a backdrop of our world’s changing climate solar thermal power generation shows great potential to move global energy production away from fossil fuels to non-polluting sources. A parameter study was conducted based on the previous analysis to improve specific aspects of the initial design using a value of benefit analysis to evaluate the different design. This project focused on the design, analysis and verification of a high temperature solar receiver. Computational Fluid Dynamic (CFD) analysis of Radiation model is carried out with new geometry design of receiver. Discrete Transfer Radiation Model (DTRM) model is used for numerical simulation.
Suspended nanoparticles in conventional fluids,
called nanofluids, have been the subject of intensive study
worldwide since pioneering researchers recently discovered the
anomalous thermal behavior of these fluids. The heat transfer from
smaller area is achieved through microchannels. The heat transfer
principle states that maximum heat transfer is achieved in
microchannels with maximum pressure drop across it. In this
research work the experimental and numerical investigation for
the improved heat transfer characteristics of serpentine shaped
microchannel heat sink using Al2O3/water nanofluid is done. The
fluid flow characteristics is also analyzed for the serpentine
shaped micrchannel. The experimental results of the heat
transfer using Al2O3 nanofluid is compared with the numerical
values. The calculations in this work suggest that the best heat
transfer enhancement can be obtained by using a system with an
Al2O3–water nanofluid-cooled micro channel with serpentine
shaped fluid flow

Abstract Heat sinks are commonly used for cooling of electronic devices. Heat sinks, an array of heat fins, remove the heat from the surfaces of the chips by enhancing the heat Transfer rate through heat conduction process. Heat can also be removed from the chip surfaces through forced convection heat transfer. In this project work, CFD and conjugate heat transfer analysis is carried out for various fin geometries with Zigzag, Fluted, Slanted mirror, Custom pin fin and staggered array configurations for low thermal resistance and minimum pressure drop. Numerical simulations are carried out for each of the above mentioned fin geometries with common base plate thickness of 2 mm, fin height of 28 mm and fin thickness of 1 mm for three different heat loads namely 50 W, 75 W and 100 W with air flow of 3.933 m/s (15 ft3/min or 15 CFM) and air inlet temperature of 25oC. The results are compared for thermal performance of a heat sink for each of above geometries and it is observe that the fin with Slanted Mirror geometry gives the best performance among all the other geometries for minimum Pressure drop. The average heat transfer coefficients for fins with slanted mirror geometry, zig zag configuration, fluted type, custom pin fin and staggered array are found to be 215 W/m2K, 164 W/m2K, 164 W/m2K, 157 W/m2K and 145 W/m2K respectively Keywords: Fin geometries of Heat sinks, Computational Fluid Dynamics, Conjugate heat transfer.

The work summarized in this paper presents an exper imental study of heat transfer from plate fin in mixed convection mode enhancement by the us e of plate fins is presented. After a brief review of the basic methods used to enhance the hea t transfer by simultaneous increase of heat transfer surface area as well as the heat tran sfer coefficient,a simple experimental method to assess the heat transfer enhancement is p resented. The method is demonstrated on plate fins as elements for the heat transfer enhanc ement,but it can in principle be applied also to other fin forms. That is varying various paramet ers (height,spacing). The order of the magnitude of heat transfer enhancement obtained exp erimentally,it was found that by a direct comparison of Nu and Re no conclusion regarding the relative performances could be made. This is because the dimensionless variables are int roduced for the scaling of heat transfer and pressure drop results from laboratory to large scal e but not for the performance comparison. Therefore a literature survey of the performance co mparison methods used in the past was also performed. Experiments will carried out on mix ed convection heat transfer from plate fin heat sinks subject to the influence of its geometry and heat flux. A total of 9 plate fins were pasted into the upper surface of the base plate. Th e area of the base plate is 150mm by 150mm. The base plate and the fins were made of alu minum. For all tested plate fin heat sinks,however,the heat transfer performance for h eat sinks with plate fins was better than that of solid pins.

The paper numerically presents laminar forced convection of a nanofluid flowing in a duct at microscale.
Results were compared with both analytical and experimental data and observed good concordance with
previous studies available in the literature. Influences of Brinkman and Reynolds number on thermal and
hydrodynamic indexes have been investigated. For a given nanofluid, no change in efficiency (heat dissipation
to pumping power) was observed with an increasing in Reynolds number. It was shown that the pressure was
decrease with an increase in Brinkman number. Dependency of Nu increment changes with substrate material.
zkStudyClub - Reef: Fast Succinct Non-Interactive Zero-Knowledge Regex ProofsAlex Pruden
This paper presents Reef, a system for generating publicly verifiable succinct non-interactive zero-knowledge proofs that a committed document matches or does not match a regular expression. We describe applications such as proving the strength of passwords, the provenance of email despite redactions, the validity of oblivious DNS queries, and the existence of mutations in DNA. Reef supports the Perl Compatible Regular Expression syntax, including wildcards, alternation, ranges, capture groups, Kleene star, negations, and lookarounds. Reef introduces a new type of automata, Skipping Alternating Finite Automata (SAFA), that skips irrelevant parts of a document when producing proofs without undermining soundness, and instantiates SAFA with a lookup argument. Our experimental evaluation confirms that Reef can generate proofs for documents with 32M characters; the proofs are small and cheap to verify (under a second).
