1. The document discusses materials for use in emissive layers for high definition plasma displays, including MgO thin films, diamond-like carbon (DLC), and carbon nanotubes (CNTs). 2. MgO thin films were deposited using DC and pulsed DC magnetron sputtering. Characterization showed the films were highly transparent, crystalline, and uniformly deposited over large areas. Secondary electron emission coefficients were measured. 3. DLC and CNT films were also prepared using plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition and their properties investigated. Multi-layer structures combining MgO and CNT films showed very high secondary electron emission coefficients.
