Topic: New Year Story.
Objectives: to summarizepupils’ skills, the active vocabulary, to show the level
of speech and language competence of the pupils;
to revise someof the grammar structures;
to stimulate pupils’ thinking and develop their imagination.
Equipment: computer, pictures, flash cards, cards for pair work, cassette.
Timing: 45 minutes.
Procedure.
1. Introduction
T. - Good morning, pupils. How are you today?
- What day is it today?
- What month is it now?
- What season is it now?
( winter)
- What winter holidays do you know?
( Christmas , New Year, ….. )
- Look at the blackboard and read the topic of our lesson.
( New Year )
- What are the symbols of New Year?
( New Year Tree, Christmas stockings, Father Frost,….. )
- Today we are going to learn some new words connected with the New Year, repeat
some grammar rules, play different interesting games and have fun together.
2.Listening
- Look at the screen of the computer. Listen to the new words, repeatthem all
together and guess the translations according to the pictures.

- Open your books and listen to the dialogue ( Welcome 2 , p. )
( pupils listen to the dialogue , but it stops and the teacher can’t startit again )
- How do you think what should we do to startthe dialogue again?
- People say that every person should finish everything he had started during the
previous year before the new year comes. So, we should repeat and revise
everything we know in English.
- This big clock and the computer have got some tasks for you. If wemanage to do
this task the clock will startagain and we will be able to finish the dialogue.
( the tasks are written under the Christmas pictures around the clock on the
blackboard. Children open and reed the tasks )
3.Vocabulary revision
1. Look at the picture of the family and say how old is Rex. ( pair work )
Bob is 5 years old. His sister Ann is 10 years older than Bob. Her
brother Jack is 3 years older than Ann. Their mother Emma is 30
years older than Jack. Her husband Ted is 4 years older than
Emma. Rex is 40 years younger than Ted. How old is Rex?
2. Read the plurals and correctthe mistakes. ( children correctthe mistakesonthe
blackboardone byone )
Man – mans child – childs
Sheep – shoop mouse – miese
Tomato – tomatos goose – gooses
Person – persons woman – womins
3. Write down the correcttime ( pair work )
4. Make me laugh. ( pupils come up to the computer, put on the headphones, listen
to the word and show is to their classmates. The task is to guess the word. )
Caveman, dinosaur, firefighter, cow, pilot, DJ, ……. ‘’Old Mc. Donald had a farm‘’.
Let’s sing the song together.
4.Pair work
5. Make up the dialogue. One pupil complains about his health , the other pupil gives
an advice. ( pupils work in a chain )
- What’s the matter?
- Oh, I’ve got a terrible headache.
- So, you should take an aspirin.
6. Listening. Look at the picture, listen to the cassette and match the names of the
children to their pictures. ( Welcome 2 p. ex. )
Answer the questions.
5. Summing up.
- At last all the tasks aredone. The clock started ticking again. We can finish listening
to the dialogue.
- Let’ sing the Christmas song together.
- Let’ sum up our work and remind everything we’vedone today.
