Mentoring is a universal practice present in almost every culture. In Africa, mentoring is mostly informal than formal. A youth can regularly receive guidance, words of wisdom from his parents, family members or an elder in the society. However, when mentoring is being informal and unstructured, it's very difficult to assess and measure its effectiveness. I therefore believe that there is a need for more structured mentoring programs in Africa. These formalised mentoring program could be holistically integrated into high school and university curriculum so that no student can end his learning journey without being mentored.
Mentoring is a key missing component in most of the higher institutions of learning and even in the workplace. Developing a culture of mentoring will definitely contribute to leadership develop in Africa

Virtuous Leaders and Organizations
World business leaders have emerged as the first global citizens. Engaged in commerce, business leaders understand the interdependence of nations, and that the health of society and the preservation of our earth are important to the future prosperity of the business enterprise. Business fosters economic and cultural interdependence and has helped to create the awareness of one humanity, on one planet, all sharing a common fate. And, as the dominant institution on the planet, business holds the key to the transformation of our global society, away from intractable problems, and toward a world that works for everyone.
Around the globe, we are witnessing a fundamental questioning, both individual and institutional, of our most basic assumptions about who we are, the world we live in, and what is ultimately important. Increasingly, the leading thinkers of our day are describing this phenomenon as being driven by an emerging new paradigm—a new understanding of reality—which is shaking our traditional assumptions and intuitions to the roots. The World Business Academy (
https://worldbusiness.org/
) arose out of the conviction that the shape of the future is our choice, and that business, if it adopts a new tradition of responsibility for the whole, can be the major contributor to a future that is economically, socially, and ecologically viable for all.
Yet the question remains as to how and to whom businesses will be held accountable. Secularists respond that the answer is clearly government. Yet the Christian knows that governments, despite their God appointed role, are made of people, and absent the influence of God, are just as vulnerable to sin, corruption, and oppression any business (1 Chronicles 14:7).
The answer to the question then lies in recognizing that businesses and business leaders are ultimately answerable to God, not man and that He calls us to lead our organizations in an ethical and virtuous manner that glorifies and honors both God and man.
Why Virtuous Business?
Recently, there has been a lot of debate about the actual objective of “the organization.” In the Western World, the prevalent view over the last decades has been that its objective was maximizing shareholder value above any other consideration. In other words, the HOW, (whether or not a company is virtuous in accomplishing objectives), did not matter. As such, employees, managers and society were simply considered as means to reach this “superior” objective. Virtues were off the corporate radar, and
But more recently, research is now recognizing that the HOW does matter. Pawar (2016) showed a relationship.

3. Pastoral Success?
Pastoral success is about rightly
understanding, pursuing, and achieving
what God’s vision for your ministry is all
about.
4. “So then, just as you received
Christ Jesus as Lord,
continue to live in Him,
rooted and built up in Him,
strengthened in the faith
as you were taught,
and overflowing with thankfulness.”
(Colossians 2:6-7)
5. What Leaders Do…
Leaders cast vision
Leaders create environments
Leaders develop systems
Leaders equip leaders
6. Leadership functions on the basis of TRUST.
Integrity has high influence VALUE.
Our tendency is to work harder on our
IMAGE than on our integrity.
Integrity means LIVING the truth myself,
before leading others.
7.
8. Favorite Leadership Quotes:
“Leadership is the capacity to translate vision
into reality.” (Warren Bennis)
“Leaders are visionaries with a poorly developed
sense of fear and no concept of the odds
against them.”(Dr. Robert Jarvik, inventor of the Jarvik-
7 artificial heart)
9. Leadership Quotes…
“If your actions inspire others to dream more,
learn more, do more, and become more, you
are a leader.” (John Quincy Adams)
“The first responsibility of a leader is to define
reality. The last is to say thank you. In
between, the leader is a servant.”(Max Depree)
10. Leadership Quotes…
“The pessimist complains about the wind.
The optimist expects it to change. The
leader adjusts the sails.” (John Maxwell)

others by unleashing their power and
potential to impact the greater good.”
(p. xix, Leading at A Higher Level, Blanchard)
11. Leadership Quotes…
We believe that leadership is about positive
and proactive influence in the context of
healthy relationships.
(Jackson & Bosse Smith)
12. Synergy
I commit to leverage my Kingdom influence
by investing in leaders and organizations
who synergize their calling and passions for
the glory of God.
The nexus of passion and trust is where great
Kingdom things happen!
14. Casting Vision
When Leadership Is Pure…
It always starts with a need.
That need sparks passion
within a person.
That person acts in response
to the need.
This action moves others to cooperate.
15. How do you “get” vision?
Isaiah 22:4,5 “Therefore I said, "Turn away
from me; let me weep bitterly. Do not try to
console me over the destruction of my
people." The Lord, the LORD Almighty, has a
day of tumult and trampling and terror in
the Valley of Vision, a day of battering down
walls and of crying out to the mountains.”
16. Characteristics of a
God-Size Vision
It comes from God. Isaiah 29:11
It’s always costly. Matthew 17:20
It requires more than we can give. Phil. 4:19
Requires Pastor and key leaders to “get
it.” 1 Thess. 5:17
21. What is Alignment?
In my view, the task of Christian
Management & Administration is about
aligning strategies, structures, and systems
to support the mission/vision/values of the
organization.
My Contribution? Alignment and Execution
are 75% of the Battle…
26. Proven Practices
for Getting Things Done…
What gets talked about gets done.
What gets trained for gets done.
What gets measured gets done.
What gets budgeted gets done.
What gets confronted gets done.
What gets rewarded gets done.
30. Hearing From God…
1. There is an enemy who wants us to be
deceived and destroyed.
2. We have to choose to obey when we
understand His will.
3. We have to learn to discern God’s voice and
separate it from others.
4. Choose to reproduce. Requires security and
releasing ministry (Ephesians 4 model)
5. Can you imagine a 5-fold ministry in your
____church?
31. Calling is not about the size
of a church,
the scope of a ministry,
or the bottom line of a business –
it is about the heart of God.
