Jordanne conducted an experiment creating an audio recording of her morning routine. She recorded various sound effects to accompany the steps in her routine, such as the alarm, walking downstairs, and brushing teeth. She edited the sound clips in Premier, fading them together and cutting out pauses in her speech. Jordanne adjusted sound levels so the effects didn't overpower her narration. In the reflection, she determined the best element for her final product was having sound effects play quietly in the background while speaking.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

This is a presentation by Dada Robert in a Your Skill Boost masterclass organised by the Excellence Foundation for South Sudan (EFSS) on Saturday, the 25th and Sunday, the 26th of May 2024.
He discussed the concept of quality improvement, emphasizing its applicability to various aspects of life, including personal, project, and program improvements. He defined quality as doing the right thing at the right time in the right way to achieve the best possible results and discussed the concept of the "gap" between what we know and what we do, and how this gap represents the areas we need to improve. He explained the scientific approach to quality improvement, which involves systematic performance analysis, testing and learning, and implementing change ideas. He also highlighted the importance of client focus and a team approach to quality improvement.
The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

2. SCRIPT
Alarm- hit snooze.
Get my dressing gown.
Go down stairs.
Say hello to harry(dog)
Get my cereal.
Go sit down and eat.
Brush teeth – wash face.
Get dressed.
Walk out the door.
When my fist alarm goes off at 6 am I dread the day ahead so I constantly hit
snooze for roughly an hour I don’t know why I do this to my self, but everyone
does it don’t they. After I manage to get up out of my pit I grab my dressing
down half asleep and head down the stairs where I am greeted by harry my little
puppy. He likes a big fuss in a morning so after he’s had enough attention I then
go on to getting my cereal and go chill in the living room whilst watching my
soaps. I then head back up stairs after eating to brush my teeth wash my face
and put my horrible brace bands in. I then finally go and get dressed this
roughly takes about 10 minutes after trying about 10 different outfits on and
walk out the door saying by to harry and head for the bus stop.
3. PROCESS
To start my experiment I firstly found all the sound effects that I would need to create
my morning routine, I got alarm, walking down the stairs, the dog barking, cupboard
opening, cereal being poured, brushing teeth and brushing hair. I then went on to
putting these in to premier editing them to size and so they all fit well together using
the razor tool to cut the sound clips and fit them together, after I had cut the sound
clips all to size I then went on to fading them all together so they didn't sound like I
had just got them and put them in to the program and left.
4. PROCESS
After I had recorded my morning routine I had to change the sound effects around
to fit in with my speaking. I also cut a few things out my speech where I had a
long pause this is so that it was smooth and went together nicely with the sound
effects as well. I used the cut tool the most for this part just to cut the pauses out
of my speech and the just moved the sound effects around to fit with the speech
this was an easy part of the experiment. I also had to make some of the sound
effects quieter then others as the over powered my speech.
After I had finished the morning routine I then added in a title slide so I could add
it in to my blog.
5. REFLECTION
What elements of your experiments will you include
in your final product?
The one thing I will keep in my final product will be how
I have the sound effects quietly behind the talking for
the advert. I think this is a good way of setting out a
radio advert as people don’t want to listen to the sound
effects after its just nice for them to be in the
background.
