Tony Montana arrives in the US from Cuba and works his way up the criminal underworld in Miami through the drug trade, becoming increasingly wealthy and addicted to the lifestyle. His wife Elvira also becomes addicted and their poor decisions lead to their downfall.

3. Tony Montana (Al Pacino)
Tony Montana, played by Al Pacino in the movie, is a political prisoner
arriving in from Cuba into the United States. He is held in a refugee camp,
however manages to make his way out and into a life of crime. He makes
his way up through the hierarchy and continues to become a criminal
mastermind. He is portrayed as aggressive and willing to do anything for
money in the movie. The wealthier he becomes, the more he enjoys the
criminal life he lives, and it is apparent that it is not sustainable.
4. Elvira Hancock (Michelle Pfeiffer)
Elvira is the mistress of Frank Lopez, a Miami based drug-lord. After his
death she starts to get close with Tony, and becomes his wife. She is a key
figure later on in the story as once Tony and her start living together they
make bad choices which effect them greatly. Elvira picks up Tony’s poor
habits and they both begin to worsen. Once being an attractive woman,
she is later on perceived as a serious drug addict and a degrading figure.
She influences Tony’s actions greatly, for the worse.
6. James Bond (Daniel Craig)
James Bond is a secret agent for MI6 and goes by the name ‘007’ – As
expected, he changes the representation of himself in different situations
he comes across. At times, he is seen as violent and aggressive against his
enemies, and in other sequences, fits in as a ‘normal person’ to cover up his
identity and continues to un plot and deceive his targets.
7. M (Judi Dench)
M is the Head of Secret Intelligence, also known as ‘MI6’ – She is the one
who briefs Bond on his targets and objectives, what to do and how to go
by doing it. She is one of the key characters in the movie and is depicted as
being serious at almost all times when face-to-face. Her representation as a
character does not change often and continues to be represented as
serious.
9. Driver (Ryan Gosling)
The unnamed driver who lives in a Los Angeles apartment, works repairing
cars and as a part-time movie double. Managed in both jobs by auto shop
owner Shannon, the duo also provides a getaway driver service to
criminals. This character is interesting as he remains quiet throughout his
entire role in the movie, but once provoked, becomes alarmed and
aggressive and is quite unpredictable at times. His almost sillent state makes
him seem intimidating, he continues stays like this throughout most of the
movie and adds to the tension of the scenes.
10. Bernie Rose (Albert Brooks)
Bernie Rose is a Jewish mobster and plays a role into the later stages of the
movie. He Is convinced by Shannon (the garage owner) to purchase a
stock car and build it for his ‘Driver’ to race. After much tension and other
issues, him and ‘Driver’ get into a bad relationship with one and other and
attempt to kill each other at the end of the movie. Bernie is perceived as a
serious character, taking matters personally and not dining for any less than
what he ordered.
