measuring a variation.

project; working very closely with the two site managers responsible for this project.

procured the enabling groundwork and site temps, and the aluminium roof packages. This was a complex phase of the
project which required very close work and co-ordination with my site colleagues and subcontractors.

prepared and agreed the client valuations and assisted in agreeing the final account. Site based and worked closely with
the site management, my manager, and the client’s management, ensuring a successful project.

• Senior Project Surveyor with Bilfinger Berger UK: £5m office refurbishment & redevelopment, responsible for all site
commercial duties, including procurement, and managed three junior surveyors. Worked closely with my site colleagues,

responsible for all commercial duties on site, including a lot of financial reporting. Site based and worked very closely with

• Site Surveyor with Balfour Beatty Construction: Site based on a £15m new build project which was the 4th and last phase
of a new shopping centre. Reported to the project surveyor and was responsible for subcontractor procurement and
management, and worked closely within a team of 10 site staff.

• Project Surveyor with Morrison Construction: Site based on a new £8m shopping arcade, I was responsible for all site
commercial duties and managed a gap year student. Worked closely with my manager, the site team, subcontractors, and
the PQS, valuing and agreeing additional costs, carrying out subcontract procurement, and reporting.
Dec 98 - Dec 99
• Contract Surveyor with M. J. Gleeson Group: Site based on an new £12m leisure centre project; my responsibility, whilst
working within a team of 4-5 site surveyors, was the structural steel frame and lattice vaulted roof, the 6 cladding and
roofing systems, carpentry, plastering/screeding, decorative plastering, and ceramic tiling subcontractor accounts. Worked

3. closely with my manager, the site management, and the subcontractors, to ensure these accounts were agreed early with
the client.
Jun 98 - Nov 98
• Project Surveyor with Amey Building: Site based, I was responsible for all site commercial duties on two
£1m refurbishment projects simultaneously (A train station concourse and office building). Worked closely with my two
managers, the two site managers, subcontractors, and the client’s QS’s to ensure successful projects.
May 97 - May 98
• Project Surveyor with Willmott Dixon Housing: Site based and responsible for all site commercial duties
on two (£1m+£ 3m) projects simultaneously; one new build sheltered housing project, and the second, home
improvements for council tenants. Worked closely with my manager, the two site and two contracts managers,
subcontractors, and the client’s QS’s to ensure successful projects.
Aug 89 - Mar 97
• Project Surveyor with Amec Building: Career started here on a 4 year training scheme, I was then employed as a project
surveyor on a £3m prison redevelopment project - worked closely within the site team, subcontractors, and client’s QS
and resident engineer to ensure a successful project. During these 8 years, I worked on a good variety of new build and
refurbishment projects, ranging from £5m to £32m.

for a lot of work with contractors and recruitment agencies, and relevant work with charities to gain current work
experience.

• Actively seeking a stable and rewarding career: This has included applying, getting short listed, passing entrance tests,
and interviewed to become a trainee paramedic with the LAB in 2009/10, and as a trainee A & E assistant last year;
two nursing course applications in 2012; a PCSO application in 2010 to gain regular employment relevant to
paramedic/nursing (put on hold due to a recruitment freeze); a 1 year paramedic studies course last year - given a place
after assessment and interview, but wasn’t able to afford; some project management work outside of the construction
industry; a lot of volunteer work to gain current work experience, and continued to apply for quantity surveyor work.

Pastimes
Listen to music, watch TV/read, being interested in current affairs, culture, science, and sport. Stay reasonably fit and have
