4. Who would the audience be for your
          media product?
Age: 14 -17 years

                                                        Ethnicity: All, but predominantly white
The general audience for my music magazine due to the lack of black and asian
is mainstreamers /followers. Some images featured.
mainstream pop artists I have included are
Olly Murs, Katy Perry, Rihanna and Nicki Gender : Females
Minaj. All of these artists are chart toppers My questionnaire found that pop music appeals to
and clearly appeal to the mass audience. more girls than boys, they’re also already the
predominant buyers of music magazines. Despite
this, they still felt there’s a gap in the market for a
new one. Bight, feminine colours such as pink have
been heavily used throughout. Fashion and celebrity
gossip is also something which would largely appeal
                                                                  to a female readership.

                                                                   Social Class: C1-D
My questionnaire found that none of my audience
were willing to pay more than £2.50 for a magazine.
For this reason i priced it at £1.50, this is reasonable
                                                               for a weekly publication.
My video feedback also supports this:

‘It’s spare change you’ve got lying around, you’re not
                                                                   breaking the bank’
5. How did you attract/address your
            audience?
Prior to creating my music magazine, I carried out a questionnaire in order to find out the preferences of my
                                              target audience.

Taking the results into account, i then
included these features in my magazine.
The most popular artists were also
included throughout along with some
     others from the pop genre.
I also considered the feedback I got from my focus group:

‘There needs to be a variety of colours that are bright and eye catching’

‘Smaller images anchoring with cover lines imply that the magazine is bursting with pop gossip’

‘One single striking image of only one person’
‘If the contents page is separated into sub-sections it will be much more visually appealing
                                        to the reader’

‘The images should support the articles which would be of most interest to the reader so that they are
                                        immediately drawn in’
‘One large image taking up the whole page usually works well as it could then also be used
                                      as a poster’

‘It should be written in chatty informal language so the readers feel comfortable and as if
they are part of the conversation’
