5. Magazine Campaign
The annual Magazine Campaign Fundraiser is underway for
our jr. high students. Funds raised will be used to support
student activities at the school.
Renew your favourite subscriptions, order new titles, or give
magazine subscriptions as gifts. Our Jr. High students will be
coming around with catalogues and order forms, they will also
have access to online sales. Make cheques payable to
“Barrhead Composite High School”. You can order online at
www.QSP.ca by using our school group number “3693074”. All
orders placed online will receive “double points” for the student.
Collection days will be October 10th, 17th, and 24th in the
student’s English class.

12. USING CTS COURSES TO APPLY FOR SCHOOL
• Students have been inquiring if they should enter their
one-credit CTS courses when adding courses in
ApplyAlberta.
• It does depend on the school, but if you have five or more
30-level CTS courses, you can enter them and the school
can decide if they can use them.
• The 30-level courses’ combined average may be higher
than one of your core.

14. Faculty of Education
Feature program: Advanced Field Experience
Bachelor of Education students have the opportunity to complete
their final field placement at one of four Alberta curriculum
schools around the world including in Bermuda, China, Cambodia,
and Mexico.
While all Education students must complete a minimum of 14
weeks of student teaching during their degree, completing a field
experience abroad provides students with a unique learning
opportunity.

15. Admission Requirements – you must present a competitive
average across five high school subjects required for your
program choice.
If you are not eligible the first time you are assessed, you will be
re-assessed as new marks are submitted through your Ualberta
application.
All marks must be provided by April 30, 2019
You have until May 1, 2019 to accept your offer of admission
unless otherwise stated in BearTracks.

16. Scholarships – deadline is December 12, 2018
There is a new admission-based scholarship awarded to the top
5% of students in each faculty, receiving up to $6000
You only need to fill out one application

Residence application can be done at the same time as your
program application.
There is a new all-you-care-to-eat meal plan for students
choosing to live in residence.
