Karlsruher Entwicklertag - The Future Present of ScrumGunther Verheyen
At the Karlsuher Entwicklertag (Developer Day) Gunther shared some considerations and observations on the current state of Scrum, with the aim of looking forward to the next 20 years of Scrum. From the many challenges, Gunther focuses on the core purpose of Scrum, the creation of Done Increments in a Sprint, or sooner.
Scrum has been around since 1995, for more than two decades. Since the release of the Agile Manifesto in 2001, Scrum gradually become the most applied method for Agile software development. Depending on the source, 70-90% of all Agile teams worldwide say they use Scrum.
Can we say we’re Done with Scrum?
Or is the key for future success still Scrum – meaning we are not yet Done with Scrum?
The key to employing Scrum professionally is creating Done Increments of product, where “Done” actually means “releasable in production.” It might take another two decades to actually get there.

How to map SAFe Agile Release Trains and Value Streams to your organization
Please join us on Wednesday February 24 in Burlington MA starting at 6:30 pm as senior enterprise agility coach Yuval Yeret describes how to map SAFe Agile Release Trains and Value Stream to your organization.
In this interactive session we will focus on an exciting aspect of the process of implementing a scaled agile approach. How to build those "Teams of Teams" that Scaled Agile approaches such as SAFe(tm) talk about. We will quickly review the purpose of the Agile Release Train and Value Stream constructs, understand ART/VS design considerations, and then work on a couple of case studies/exercises to see what the ART/VS design should look like.
NOTE: Yuval will bring some of his interesting case studies. AND If you are thinking about implementing a scaled agile approach yourself and trying to figure out ART/VS design, we would love to do a live case study in the session. You will get free expert consulting as well as the wisdom of the crowds to give you some potentially useful ideas!

Robert Martin in his book The Clean Coder mention about the Professional Developer, later Sandro Mancuso repeat it in his book Software Craftsmanship. On the several Agile Transformation I coach around the world, I saw the same problem, the process is applied, but the developers continue to work the same way. It is even worse; some company expects process improvement without a new Developer mindset.
In December 2008 the Software Craftsmanship manifesto was written. Since then several companies were created around the Software Craftsmanship communities. I will present you what it is about and what are the tools I used to promote Software Craftsmanship in my company and during my coaching missions around the world from Europe to Asia.

Elevating Tactical DDD Patterns Through Object CalisthenicsDorra BARTAGUIZ
After immersing yourself in the blue book and its red counterpart, attending DDD-focused conferences, and applying tactical patterns, you're left with a crucial question: How do I ensure my design is effective? Tactical patterns within Domain-Driven Design (DDD) serve as guiding principles for creating clear and manageable domain models. However, achieving success with these patterns requires additional guidance. Interestingly, we've observed that a set of constraints initially designed for training purposes remarkably aligns with effective pattern implementation, offering a more ‘mechanical’ approach. Let's explore together how Object Calisthenics can elevate the design of your tactical DDD patterns, offering concrete help for those venturing into DDD for the first time!

Removing Uninteresting Bytes in Software FuzzingAftab Hussain
Imagine a world where software fuzzing, the process of mutating bytes in test seeds to uncover hidden and erroneous program behaviors, becomes faster and more effective. A lot depends on the initial seeds, which can significantly dictate the trajectory of a fuzzing campaign, particularly in terms of how long it takes to uncover interesting behaviour in your code. We introduce DIAR, a technique designed to speedup fuzzing campaigns by pinpointing and eliminating those uninteresting bytes in the seeds. Picture this: instead of wasting valuable resources on meaningless mutations in large, bloated seeds, DIAR removes the unnecessary bytes, streamlining the entire process.
In this work, we equipped AFL, a popular fuzzer, with DIAR and examined two critical Linux libraries -- Libxml's xmllint, a tool for parsing xml documents, and Binutil's readelf, an essential debugging and security analysis command-line tool used to display detailed information about ELF (Executable and Linkable Format). Our preliminary results show that AFL+DIAR does not only discover new paths more quickly but also achieves higher coverage overall. This work thus showcases how starting with lean and optimized seeds can lead to faster, more comprehensive fuzzing campaigns -- and DIAR helps you find such seeds.
