2016 Term One Week Ten Itinerary
Week A. 12 days until the end of the term. That’s 10 school days.
Things that can be donethis week…
Changes to the Health and Safety Act take effect this week. This change in legislation reiterates the importance of
schools/staff/students to recognise and avoid risk on any school activities. (see attached summary page)
Emergency Lockdown Drill. This will take place this week. Signal is intermittent bell/alarm. Students to keep away
from windows, take cover, and the door is locked.
Check that your classroom has the S.A.M. Posters up. We have the PB4L team coming through end of the week.
XPLORE term two. This week we want to have the students make their selections (Brendan is going to use a google
form for this and survey students year level by year level). This will give us next week to iron out
numbers/clashes/etc.
Year 9 Camp is on next week. We would greatly appreciate staff to assistwith this camp – please see DTA if you are
available.
Year 10 Dean Role. Please consider putting your name forward. Applications in to Rose by Friday please.
2016 Secondary Teacher Census. This is for any teacher who has had year 9 or above in the last four years. It is being
run by MOE and is intending to give teachers a chance to “add their piece and see where the profession is heading” –

Holiday FYI. The first week of the holidays the server is being upgraded. Also on the first Wednesday (20th) the power
box (by the bus stop) will be getting upgraded during the day.

There has been much information (and some misinformation) about the changes in the legislation
around safety at schools. The primarily intent of the Act is for all of us to be acutely aware that safety
of everyone (staff, students, public) is the paramount consideration of our business. That we should
all be conscious of the potential risks associated with our day to day routines (and we should take
steps to mitigate these risk).
Part of the changes in legislation is that schools will need to find staff (teaching or support staff) to be
elected to represent the workers as ‘Health and Safety Representatives’.
