The document discusses the four generations of computers from 1946 to present. The first generation used vacuum tubes and were enormous in size. They were slow, expensive and produced a lot of heat. The second generation used transistors, were smaller and faster but still produced heat. The third generation used integrated circuits, making computers much smaller with higher speeds. The fourth generation used microprocessors on a single chip, making computers small enough to fit on a desk and leading to networks and more powerful computers today. Each generation brought improvements in size, speed and cost due to new electronic components.
The next generation computer will be smaller, faster, and have greater data storage and portable display capabilities than 4th generation computers. It will be able to respond to natural language input and have the ability to learn and self-organize. Quantum computing uses qubits that can represent 1s and 0s simultaneously, allowing for greater speed and efficiency over classical bit-based computing. Nanotechnology involves controlling individual atoms and molecules to create extremely small computer chips and devices for applications like new materials, medical devices, pollution monitoring, and more.

Globalization is increasing the integration of economies worldwide through greater trade, investment, and technology sharing, which is impacting education through greater internationalization, privatization, and an increased focus on workforce skills. Education systems will need reforms like updated curricula focused on productivity, as globalization constrains national policies while spreading cultural influences and creating economic inequalities across borders. The impacts of globalization on youth experiences through technology, social changes, and economic realities will shape needed roles for education to best prepare students for an interconnected world.
Learning to live together involves developing social skills like respect, concern for others, and appreciation for diversity. Education should focus on discovering other people and cultures, and encouraging involvement in collaborative projects to teach conflict resolution and working with others. Indicators to measure learning to live together include access to community institutions, volunteering rates, participation in social groups, interactions with other cultures, and travel times to social places.

The document discusses the meaning and philosophy of education. It defines education as deriving from the Latin words "educere", "educare", and "educatum", meaning "to learn", "to know", and "to lead out" the internal talents of a child. Education has both a narrow meaning as formal schooling but a broader meaning as a lifelong process that begins at birth and continues throughout life. True education aims to develop a love of learning and inspire students, not just teach to tests. An educated person can think critically, act effectively to achieve goals, and help others develop positive mindsets.
The document discusses the five generations of computers from the 1940s to present. The first generation used vacuum tubes, were enormous in size, and had low processing speeds. The second generation used transistors, were smaller and more reliable. The third generation used integrated circuits, which were faster and cheaper to produce. The fourth generation used microprocessors, allowing computers to become smaller and more personal. Current computers are considered fifth generation, pursuing artificial intelligence and new technologies like quantum computing.

Suzanne Lagerweij - Influence Without Power - Why Empathy is Your Best Friend...Suzanne Lagerweij
This is a workshop about communication and collaboration. We will experience how we can analyze the reasons for resistance to change (exercise 1) and practice how to improve our conversation style and be more in control and effective in the way we communicate (exercise 2).
This session will use Dave Gray’s Empathy Mapping, Argyris’ Ladder of Inference and The Four Rs from Agile Conversations (Squirrel and Fredrick).
Abstract:
Let’s talk about powerful conversations! We all know how to lead a constructive conversation, right? Then why is it so difficult to have those conversations with people at work, especially those in powerful positions that show resistance to change?
Learning to control and direct conversations takes understanding and practice.
We can combine our innate empathy with our analytical skills to gain a deeper understanding of complex situations at work. Join this session to learn how to prepare for difficult conversations and how to improve our agile conversations in order to be more influential without power. We will use Dave Gray’s Empathy Mapping, Argyris’ Ladder of Inference and The Four Rs from Agile Conversations (Squirrel and Fredrick).
In the session you will experience how preparing and reflecting on your conversation can help you be more influential at work. You will learn how to communicate more effectively with the people needed to achieve positive change. You will leave with a self-revised version of a difficult conversation and a practical model to use when you get back to work.
Come learn more on how to become a real influencer!

24. Not every single person that YOU come across needs to
become a vegan - only 10% of the population in order to
make an official “minority group”
I’m not an athlete in the limelight - what can “I”
do to inspire the world to go Vegan?
25. 1. When a minority has an effective message, it creates
conflict in the minds of the majority.
1. The majority are forced to examine the minority
message, and may internalise it.
1. When the message is internalised by majority
members, they are said to have been converted.
1. The message is then passed on to many other
majority members through the snowball effect until
the minority becomes the majority.
