The Murder Of The Mountains In Robert Wolfe s Play The...
The Mountains is a play about a young man that returns home from the city to help his father in
his work as a home doctor. The play opens with the young man by the name of Richard, or as his
sister Laura calls him Dick. The two have a long conversation trying to catch up with one
another after Dick has been gone to school for the past eight years (Wolfe 57). At one point the
two go to talk about how the mountains kill the folk around them. How the mountains kill the
folks around them is what pushes the play to climax later. After Dick and Laura s conversation
the man of the evening Dr. Weaver enters to warm greetings. With these warm greetings also
comes a sense of urgency from Dick and Laura to have Dick take over Dr. Weaver s position as

Essay on Home Schooling is Not the Best Option
Home Schooling is Not the Best Option
For those of us who have never been exposed into the world of home schooling, it carries a certain
mystique. We might envision a family alternating between algebra and Bible study, keeping a safe
distance from the rampant worldliness in schools. Or perhaps we see children sitting around the
kitchen table practicing spelling while mother supervises. Despite these traditional images, home
schooling is growing and gaining respect. This is due in part to high profile success stories like
home schoolers finishing first, second and third in the 2000 Scripps Howard National Spelling
Bee or the Colfax family in California who sent three sons to Harvard. However, home schooling
raises many questions ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Both the left and right wings of home schooling are active today with an estimated 1.5 million
home schooled children, as many families have both philosophical and religious for their choice
(Kantrowitz Wingert 1). Joining them are many home schoolers who simply seek the highest
quality education for their child, which they believe public and even private schools can no longer
provide.
Forty years ago home schooling did not satisfy compulsory education requirements in most states.
Due to a gradual change in legislature, all states accept home schooling as a valid alternative but
regulations vary by state. Lines asserts that at a minimum, families must file basic information with
either the state or local education agency (3/8).
One of the most important criteria to consider when looking at home schooling is academics. In an
era when the focus on accountability has become magnified, achievement of scholars is key to
evaluating education. One of the first things to consider when looking at the academic quality of
education is the ability of the teacher. Jennie and Donald Rakestraw, both professors at Georgia
Southern College, argue that some parents do not have the ability or the patience to teach their
children well (277). A home schooled child suffers the chance of an uneven education due to the
imbalanced preparation of the parent.
Along with the focus on accountability has come an increased need for measuring the achievement
of home

Best Buy Is A Retail Company
Best Buy is a retail company that was discovered by Richard M. Schulze in 1966 that specializes
in all types of electronics. These electronics could be anything from cell phones to laptops to
speakers. When the company first opened in Minnesota, they went by the name of Sound of Music
Inc. Back than the store only focused on stereos for the home and car. Around four years after that,
Schulze bought out his partner and began to expand the company on his own. Things really started
to boom around the 1980 s, and in 1983 the company renamed itself to Best Buy. They than started
to focus on other type of equipment other than just audio devices, such as a device that was popular
back than but seems primitive now, the VCR. The following year is... Show more content on

Students will be able to lease either new or slightly used products (from previous leases) for the
academic school year by signing a contract with their local Best Buy. The contract will include
details such as when it starts and when it ends, how much is required a month, and if need be a
down payment. I think that this will generate a positive response from the public seeing as now
more students will be able to handle college with the necessary technology. This is a brand
extension because Best Buy currently does not partake in leasing so it will be a new sector for
the company to generate income from. The target market is college students who need to
purchase electronics for school. Seeing as how nowadays most students rely on their laptops for
notes, important documents, and typing papers, the market is only going to grow in the future.
Some professors even require students to take tests and submit homework online. Our whole
lifestyle is moving toward to implementation of technology, so we believe everybody should
have the opportunity to utilize it. While some kids may me more fortunate than others in terms of
money, we offer the leasing solution as a way to even the playing field so that no students have
an exponential advantage over others. Some college students pay for everything on their own and
would not be able to afford a new laptop if they had to pay in full at the time of purchase. This is
why

Edgar Allan Poe Literary Influences
Edgar Allan Poe is an all around well known American writer, editor, and literary critic. Poe was
most known for his poetry, short stories, and tales of horror and mystery. He was born in Boston
Massachusetts on January 19, 1809 and started writing at the age of 18. In 1836 he married his
13 year old cousin, Virginia Clemm. He had many influences, styles, accomplishments. Poe also
had such a huge impact on society. Though most people see Poe s poems and writings as dark and
twisted. Overall, he has inspired many and left a positive impact on the world. Edgar Allan Poewas
mostly influenced by Lord Byron. He was a great supporter of Lord Byron, who was also known as
George Gordon. Byron was an English poet and leading figure of Romanticism. She Walks in
Beauty is a short lyrical poem written in 1813 by Lord Byron, and is one of his most famous
works. It is said to have been inspired by an event in Byron s life just like the volumes Poe wrote
(Dictionary of American Biography). He was considered one of the greatest British poets who

One of his most famous accomplishment is the publication of his poem The Raven . The
success of this poem was vast and may be said to have first really made him famous (Dictionary
of American Biography). Poe became a successful writer during his lifetime. In The Portable
Edgar Allan Poe, J Gerald Kennedy explains that in barely two decades Poe produced more than
sixty poems, some seventy odd tales, one completed novel, a long prose poem of cosmological
theory, and scores of essays and reviews (XXIX Kennedy). Poe also changed literary culture by
introducing innovations. He did this by altering poetry, prose fiction, and critical works with new
ideas (xxix Kennedy). Poe had a very successful magazine career. Due to the inclusion of Poe s
short stories and other works of literature in magazines, subscriptions increased greatly

Community Journalism as a Synonym for Small Town Newspapers
Literature Review:
The notion of community journalism is hardly a new one. However, during the past decade, the
concept gained much fascination and interest among industry analysts.
The literature available on the topic points out that the reason behind this strong comeback of
community journalism lies in the fact that most regions where the boom is taking place are
undergoing a transitional phase that paved the way for this shift. The literature, however, refers to
two trends in this matter: the first is the effect of economic transition on the reemergence of
community journalism in countries such as the US and the UK, the second is the effect of political
transition on the emergence of community journalism in countries such as South Africa. In other
words, while the former example shows a rebirth of an old notion as a result of economic decline,
the latter shows an adoption of the concept in the hope of facilitating political transition.
Concerning the effect of economic transition, one theory is that the diminishing influence of larger
newspapers (in the US and the UK) and the decline in number of their circulation allowed localized
news outlets to flourish and become more prominent (Conhaim, 2006).
During these times of financial troubles, local publications had the power to remain profitable by
focusing on small target audiences, and offer unique, concentrated, localized content as their niche
product. So in addition to succeeding in gaining financial prosperity,

Gold Rush In California
Thomas Fuller once said we never know the worth of water till the well is dry (Fuller). As a
species we need water to cook, clean, and most importantly live. With water being a natural
resource overuse and misuses of it can cause its supply to rapidly dwindle down, and that s exactly
what s happening in Californiaright now. California s water comes a married of places such as
aquifers, groundwater, surface water, rivers, reservoirs, dams and irrigation systems where 80% of
that water goes towards agriculture and 20% to urban/residential use. California s water supply is
so substandard that the state can t even say their predicament is a drought, but it can be classified as
a crisis. And to add insult to injury the states infrastructure has... Show more content on

That permit led to behind the scene meetings with the city s mayor and other leading LA

Gay Marriage Should be Banned
1.Introduction
Gay marriage has been in hot debate for a while now. What once was shunned in almost every
culture and society is now creeping into our laws and customs as normal and even acceptable due
to the increase of radicals found in Anglo Saxon societies such as the US and UK. Fueled by the
recent revolutions of women and interracial groups, homosexuals (a group less than 1 percent of
the world s population), have finally taken a stand. Marriage has been a union of opposite sexes for
nearly 5000 years and now has come into such scrutiny that it has taken on the attention of the
Supreme Court. On April 28th, 2015, the Supreme Court began the case of Obergefell v. Hodge,
the dispute which would settle the legalization of gay marriage in the entire US. From such a case,
the question arises: Should gay marriage be legalized in the United States? After analyzing the
points on both sides of the feud, I came to the clear conclusion that the answer was no, gay
marriage should become and continue to be illegal in the United States.
2.Why Should we Ban Gay Marriage?
II.A.
Marriage was originally intended as the union of two people of opposite gender in order to create
a procreation flesh. The problem with this is that a gay marriage, or union of two males or two
females, would produce an entirely sterile couple who could not produce children with each other.
Although seemingly harmless, this

Analysis Of Land Of The Free, Because The Brave
Land of the Free, Because of the Brave
Oh say does that star spangled banner yet wave, O er the land of the free and the home of the
brave? ( The Star Spangled Banner America s National Anthem ) America is only the land of the
free because of the brave, and some of the most important battles for freedom took place before the
United States of America became the United States. These battles were fought not by soldiers,
but by citizens whose rebellion allows Americans many of the freedoms they enjoy today.
Religious tolerance, freedom for both sexes, as well as minority groups, and freedom of the press
are just some of the benefits from these battles. Rebellion is defined by the Cambridge Dictionary

This is not the only area in which he showed unusual respect for the Natives. In 1635 he was put
on trial in Salem for harboring views which proved too radical for the locals there. One of the
radical views Williams preached was that land should be bought from Natives, as opposed to being
taken. In fact, after his trial, (and subsequent banishment), the land on which he founded
Providence, Rhode Island was land he had purchased from the Narragansett Indians. Roger
Williams helped shape America into the refuge it would become by creating a colony on principles
of religious tolerance and equality regardless of race. While Williams was preparing a sanctuary for
outcasts, a battle for equality was also being fought by future resident of Rhode Island, Anne
Hutchinson. Anne Hutchinson embodied rebellion by promoting equality, which she did by
working for the liberation of women, particularly in the religious field. Although entirely without
formal schooling, like virtually every woman in her day, Anne Hutchinson had been well educated
on her father s knee. Francis Marbury, a Cambridge educated clergyman, school master, and Puritan
reformer, was her father. In the late 1570s, disagreements with Anglican authorities led to his
censure, his imprisonment for several years, and his own public trial on a charge of heresy, the
same charge that would be brought against his daughter, of refuting church

It s Robotic Arm Hovers
With the click of a button, a small machine buzzes to life. It s robotic arm hovers, lowers, then
promptly repositions to hold a pair of syringes over a set of petri dishes. With short, rapid bursts
the syringes release a milky white paste, forming tiny little hexagons in each dish. After only a
few minutes they grow, resembling small honeycomb shaped structures. But these are no ordinary
honeycombs they re human livers (Tomo News). These small phenomenon of biomedical
engineering are identical to tissue samples of the real thing and constructed from actual human
cells. But instead of being grown in the lab or taken from a donor, the biomedical professionals at
Organovo print them, just like they would a document. In the past two decades, 3 D printing has
grown from a niche manufacturing process to a $2.7 billion industry, responsible for the
fabrication of all sorts of things: toys, jewelry, machine parts, and even food (Griggs). But now
scientists are working to apply that same technology to the field of medicine. In labs around the
world, like the one at Organovo, scientists have begun to print prototype body parts including heart
valves, ears, artificial bone, joints, menisci, vascular tubes, and skin grafts, ( Bioprinting ). The
innovation of this technology lies in the fact that it generates actual living human cells, allowing for
the reproduction of organs and tissue that mimic the form and function of native tissues in the body
( Bioprinting ). Since its

How Does Ebola Affect The Human Body
Ebola
The theme of all the articles I have read has all resulted in devastating effects of the rare and
deadly Ebola virus that has affected the human body. Ebola disease is transmitted by contact with
body fluids, blood, and tissues of animals or even people who have been infected with the disease.
Also, Ebola can be spread through bedding, needles, clothing or medical equipment. Researchers
believe that the virus originates from infected fruit bats. But, they believe that the Ebola virus
moves in populations with animals for example monkeys, apes, and antelopes. People in Africa
commonly ate these kinds of animals and, if a person would have had cut their hand opens well

Ebola has been located in many different African countries. Since 1976 there have been around
21 outbreaks of Ebola virus reported. However, in the 2014 outbreak, there was known to be
more cases and more deaths of Ebola than all of the historical outbreaks combined together five
times more. Your chances of getting Ebola are very slim. However, if you are or if you have been
in a place where there has been a recent outbreak of Ebola disease your chances are at a higher
risk. Scientist believe that the first person that received Ebola was a two year old in southern
Guinea. Since 1976 to 2016 there have been 28,637 reported cases of Ebola and, they figure up to
11,315 deaths. The cause of the Ebola virus results in damaged vascular cells that are formed from
the blood vessels, damage to the liver, large amounts of viruses in the blood etc. Ebola causes
uncontrollable bleeding and, that eventually leads to fluid and blood loss that can cause
hypotensive shock which causes death in most of the Ebola infected victims. The virus destroys
and damages the microvascular endothelial cells and this results in external and internal bleeding
from the mucosal surfaces. For example, the nasal passage, gums, mouth and even

Differences Between Euthyphro And Socrates
Euthyphro by Plato introduces a dilemma that invites one to ask if what we do is just because
we say it is or is it just because the gods say so. This dialogue transpires between Euthyphro and
Socrates. Socrates was a student of all things in the sky and below the earth. As a student, a pupil
of all that there is to learn, one will ask questions. This is what Socratesdid. Euthyphrowas a
theologian that was acquainted with Socrates through means unknown. Although he was familiar
with Socrates s method of communicating with others, Euthyphro did not seem to mind Socrates s
questioning until he, himself, was questioned. The two meet at the courthouse, awaiting separate
trials. Euthyphro was prosecuting his father for murder, and Socrates... Show more content on

It also makes me wonder if the meaning of piety and impiety would have been questioned if this
conversation did not occur. Throughout the reading, I found myself unable to define my own
opinion of the meaning of piety and impiety, as this was not something that I considered before.
Piety can hardly be seen as a bad thing, but is it only considered good because people consider it
to be good, or is it good because the gods esteem it to be so? Euthyphro grapples with this idea, but
ultimately falls short of a definite solution to the question at

Greater Education Colleges are looking for students who push themselves, who are interested and

in their school? Unfortunately, not all schools have them and some even are eliminating these
courses. It may help the core students but there just leaving the higher level students brains for

Classes such as AP, honors, and advanced are usually based on preparing you for college,
getting you to college and getting you through college. Katy Hopkins says, Kids [who take AP
courses] usually are able to think outside the box; they re better prepared; they have stronger
study skills; and the bar is held up for them at a level where they reach that bar themselves. They
already know, This is what my teacher is going to expect of me or this is what I expect of
myself, As you can you tell, kids who take specifically AP classes, or generally higher level
classes, are prepared with many great skills that are useful in college or even getting through
college. Higher level courses may even help students beyond college and into the work world. High
school students must prepare for college if they hope to have a middle class income...The best
standard for preparation for college is a good working knowledge of the subject matter earned in
challenging courses during high school. For further definition, one of the tools recommended for
college preparation is the Advanced Placement Program, administered by the nonprofit College
Board, which also administers the Scholastic Aptitude Test. (reviewjournal.com). Apparently, Ap
courses can be life changing. These courses can help students through high school, college, and
the rest of their lives. Ap classes can even have the same amount of work as an actual college
student. The bottom line is that college is probably the same amount of work as a high school
schedule full of AP classes. (scholarships.com) All in all Ap and higher level classes are to help to
not break you. The classes prepare you not only for college but for life. If these classes are this
important wouldn t it be offered for every student? Ap and honors classes should be offered to
everyone because it is life

My Greatest Moment In School
One of the greatest moments happened when I was in the eighth grade. It was when I started
wearing the hijab for sure and I lost a lot of my friends. I felt really lonely and I started sitting by
myself during lunch for the first time ever. I stopped getting invited to birthday parties and
whatnot. One day during my English class two of my friends that weren t talking to me at the
time came up to me and told me they supported my decision. They explained to me how hard it
was for them because they ve never seen me with the hijab, but they also wanted to try it because
it was new to them. My English teacher, Mrs. Fernald overheard us talking and said: why don t
you bring us hijabs tomorrow, we ll wear it with you . I was really excited and was so happy that
I started getting teary simple because I felt good to know that I wasn t alone. The next day I
brought them hijabs and put it on for them and we took a picture together. That picture still
means the world to me. I started wearing the hijab because I felt like it was the right thing to do,
but it was a hard transition. My friends kept telling me to take it off and kept asking if I was
having a bad hair day. It was hard for me to explain it to them because they kept asking why now?
It was hard to explain it to them in general. That moment showed me that my hijab wasn t stopping
me from doing anything and that people would support me if I showed them that my hijab didn t

G. I. Bill Of Rights Importance
The G.I. Bill of Rights is also known as The Servicemen s Readjustment Act of 1944 on a very
basic level changed the structure of the American workforce by empowering an exceptional
number of American veterans to go to school and exchange schools. Marked into law on June 22,
1944, the G. I. Bill of Rights, as it came to be known, conceded stipends covering educational cost
and everyday costs, gave professional recovery, built up veterans doctor s facilities and made low
intrigue contracts accessible for veterans of WWII. The enactment was in the long run extended to

Nursing As A Second Career
Education Story
I decided to return to school, choosing nursing as a second career. It was intimidating and
daunting. Will school be too hard? Will I fit in? Am I too old? I was afraid that I would lack the
skills to handle a heavy load of school work along with full time employment. I felt overwhelmed
not really knowing all of the terminology used in the medical field, which was the biggest
challenge I had to face. My husband once told me that if I could handle a nursing assistant job,
then maybe I could be a good registered nurse. It was a long shot, but it gave me the firm idea of
being a nurse. Working full time as a nursing assistant, reading all the nursing books I saw, made
me familiar with the terminology and led me to know where

Characterization In A Good Man Is Hard To Find
Exploring the idea that all men are born sinners, O Connor demonstrates immoral indulgences
entertained by various characters. Readers are introduced to grandmother, an elderly woman
whose consistent unscrupulous behavior exhibits her inner motives. Grandmother uses subtle,
indirect confrontation to get her way until she is faced with The Misfit, a runaway criminal who
believes that crime is a justifiable. In A Good Man Is Hard To Find, Flannery O Connor uses
characterization to display a loss of morals, imagery to portray evil in society, and symbolism to
emphasize the struggle of obtaining grace to prove how life is nihilistic without religion.
Characterization is used not only to amuse readers, but to also display an understanding of
human nature, in this case a decline in values. June Star is described as critical with a nasty
motormouth. She is rude to everyone surrounding her although adults seem to find her
charming; Ain t she cute? Red Sam s wife said leaning over the counter. Would you like to come
be my little girl? No I certainly wouldn t, June Star said. I wouldn t live in a broken down place
like this for a million bucks! and she ran back to the table. Ain t she cute? the woman repeated,
stretching her mouth politely. Aren t you ashamed? hissed the grandmother (O Connor 121). In
life, there are a multitude of ways to reply to various comments and she could have courteously
declined. Her response allows her to be represented with an absence of

Toni Morrison Accomplishments
Toni Morrison was like the average single black woman in the 1960 s. Newly divorced, she
worked hard at her nine to five job at a publishing company trying to care for her two sons.
Although she majored in English in college, being a novelist and winning awards for her stories
was the last thing on her mind. And after being rejected from publishing companies saying that
her stories had no beginning, no middle, and no end and it [was] great but..... she surely thought
that her stories were a waste of time. After the publication of her first novel, The Bluest Eye did
not sell very well, it did receive reviews by book critics saying that the novel was like poetry and
filled with emotion and pain. They also mentioned that her novels gave a

The Effects Of Overpopulation
Introduction:
In this essay I will be investigating how a world where people are starving, will be affected by
an increasing population. Overpopulation can be defined to fill with an excessive number of
people, straining available resources and facilities. By 2050, the world will be apart of nine
billion people. Today at least one billion people are starving or are chronically malnourished.
The basic definition of being chronically malnourished is that a person will fail to grow to their
full potential. For humans, food is an activity of our daily life, and not a lot of people have it. I
believe the topic food is an issue that we need to take into consideration.
In order to present this, I will firstly consider the food waste and food consumption of Hong Kong. I

By providing these children with the basics of getting a job, it will help them get a better
understanding of how important it is to get one, and to prepare themselves to be independent in the
real world.
In comparison with hunger, there are numerous solutions to overpopulation. One of the main
solutions to overpopulation is, better education like the hunger crisis. If we educate people and help
them understand that the need to have one or two children at the most is right, then hopefully
overpopulation will get better.
In addition, studies have shown that when Women have more job opportunities, they tend to chose
having smaller families, thus investing more in each child rather than more, and this will help
break the poverty cycle.
Secondly, we can enforce family planning. As the population is increasing at a fast pace, trying to
raise awareness about this issue with families, and giving them an idea about the effects population
has on the world, can help families think about their future

History of the Philippine Agriculture
Philippine Agriculture over the Years: Performance, Policies and Pitfalls 1
Cielito F. Habito and Roehlano M. Briones 2
Introduction Although many still think of the Philippines as an agricultural economy, strictly
speaking, it is not. Agriculture, fishery and forestry directly account for just one fifth (20 percent)
of the economy s aggregate domestic output (GDP). Ever since the 1960s, the direct share of
agriculture in the GDP had fallen below one third, and by 1981, the sector s share had decreased
to only 23 percent. Growth from this level was rather anemic, averaging 1.7 percent per annum
during the period 1981 2003, compared to the average overall GDP growth of 2.6% over the same
period. While agriculture output was largely ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The last section identifies the pitfalls that have hampered investments in the sector and stifled
growth in the agribusiness industry, and ends with a general indication of the needed interventions
to overcome the sector s current hurdles.
Production and Productivity Trends Labor productivity. Up until the 1970s, the Philippines
agricultural performance, in terms of both agricultural Gross Value Added (GVA) and
agricultural exports, compared well with its neighbors and other Asian countries (Figure 3a). But
by the 1980s and 1990s, the country had lagged behind most of the countries in the region
(Figures 3b and 3c). This came as agricultural output growth had slowed down dramatically
through the decades (Figure 4). Moreover, the sector s growth had been rather erratic in the 1990s,
especially with the periodic occurrence of the El NiГ±o phenomenon that had appreciable impact
on weather patterns and, consequently, agricultural performance. Table 1 shows the average annual
growth in GVA of major agricultural commodities since 1960. What is clear from the table is that
growth rates of all commodities, except for livestock and poultry, have been slowing down over
time. Furthermore, growth rates have been below the population growth rate, implying that
production has not been able to keep up with increasing population. Erratic and decelerating growth
over the past two decades is a major concern, as agriculture continues to employ a large

Indigenous Health Essay
Causative considerations are multifactorial regarding the development of low health literacy rates
in Aboriginals, inclusive of socio economical disadvantages, geographical considerations, and social
/environmental influences (Australian Indigenous HealthInfoNet, 2015). Differing
conceptualisations of reality or worldview are present within Aboriginal culture, which vary from
westernised civilisation. Indigenous history lacks a biomedical background, and encompasses
differing views of disease/illness, which may be associated with personal actions/behaviours, social
order, and spiritual health. As an example, disease may be viewed as the consequence of sorcery
/voodoo (Vass, Mitchell, Dhurrkay, 2011). Other factors may stem from mistrust of westernised
medicine/civilisation due to The Stolen Generation or social engineering and previous cultural
genocide (Shahid, Finn, Thompson, 2009), English as a second language, and lack of connection
/engagement with westernised pedagogy frameworks for health teaching (Yunkaporta, 2009). Other

Analysis Of Ost Program Components ( Activities And Goals )
This research was guided by three questions that pertained to practitioner reports of OST program
components (activities and goals), rationales for the components, and use of research as a rationale.
Findings related to each question are discussed and then implications for closing the science to
practice gap are considered.
First, all 21 practitioners identified goals and activities for their programs. Common goals included
providing a safe environment and developing academic and social emotional skills. These goals are
in line with features of youth programs that can promote positive youth development (Eccles
Gootman, 2002). However, these were program level goals. Some work has shown practitioners do
not have specific goals for their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Different from a strict science to practice approach to decision making, most practitioners chose
components using input from multiple other sources including stakeholders (i.e., youth and
parents), personal beliefs, and program requirements (Honig Coburn, 2008). Fun or enjoyment for
youth was the most common rationale. Whether a program is enjoyable has not typically been
included in measures of OST program quality, but perhaps it should be one. Enjoyment is a
property of engaging programs (Bohnert, Fredricks, Randall, 2010) and engagement, in turn, is
critical for attracting and retaining youth. Staff who create engaging environments tend to be youth
centered in their approach to programming and are effective listeners and observers of the youth
they serve (Larson, Walker, Pearce, 2005; Larson, Walker, Rusk, Diaz 2015).
Building skills was also a common rationale. Different from the origins of OST programs in the
U.S. as settings designed to provide supervision during the gap between the end of the school day
for youth and work day for parents (Mahoney, Parente, Zigler, 2009), programs in this study were
described as educational and development contexts aiming to augment competencies and/or reduce
risks. Indeed, most practitioners viewed youth development as a main objective alongside safety.
This is an encouraging result because, although the current study does not provide evidence that the

Flexibility Of The Constitution Essay
As our society is constantly changing, the Constitution is presented as an object of reverence
because what is now the United States, it holds us together with the flexibility and strength of the
living document, how the Constitution provides a stable framework, and how the amendment
process changes the Constitution. The flexibility and strength of the living document makes the
Constitution work because congress has the power to make proper and necessary finalized
decisions to carry out its enumerated powers. For example, Congress has the power to create a
national currency by having the ability to coin money. The flexibility between the Constitution and

The framers of the Constitution knew that the document was going to be changed over time
because if not, it would lead to a future revolution. The writers wanted it to be stable enough to
provide a long lasting framework for the government. Although the framers knew that the
Constitution would change over time they made the constitution difficult to change but possible.
Whenever the framers thought that it was necessary to amend the Constitution, they would need to
propose an amendment that would require a quorum of two thirds vote from both houses of
Congress, or a national convention called by two thirds of several states. Following the first step of
amending the Constitution, the proposed amendment has to be approved by either the state
legislatures or the state conventions depending on how congress first proposed the amendment, in
three fourths of the states. Then if it is approved, it becomes a part of the Constitution. Through the
years, there has been 27 amendments that have been made since its beginning. These amendments
gave citizens basic individual freedoms, but those who were denied of their rights based on their
skin color, gender, social status, and race, saw these changes as opportunities. Without these
ratifications U.S citizens wouldn t have many freedoms or opportunities. With citizens already
having certain rights, the principle of federalism allows that the states have

Personality As Predictor, Personality, And General Knowledge
Personality as Predictor
According to Kluemper, Bing, and McLarty (2014), a person s reputation is based on their past
experiences. Also, managers use a person s past performance to predict the person s future
performance. This essay provides a definition of a measure and discusses how leaders measure
the personality trait of employees to explain their job performance. Also, how managers use
organizational past performance to predict future performance. Also, the paper describes how
leaders use employees personality trait to predict future job performance. Next, the paper explains
how using G and personality for predicting performances. Last, the essay discusses how the finding
from an employee s personality trait and general knowledge is used to make hiring decisions.
Measurement of Performance
A measure is a standard that leaders use as an indicator to test the consistency and stability of a
worker under constant and stressful conditions (Eisend Stokburger Sauer, 2013). The success of an
organization is contingent upon the employees performances. In Hassan, Akhtar, and Yilmaz
(2016) article on measuring the personality trait of workers, they discovered that employees with
the conscientiousness trait outperform their counterparts in overall job performance. Hassan et al.
(2016) described conscientiousness as one that is orderly, neat, prompt, meticulous, and organized.

Abstract The purpose of this research paper is to persuade a National Collegiate Athletic
Association (NCAA) panel, to include its president Mr. Mark Emmert to modify the current NCAA
amateurism by law 12.02.1 making it feasible for college athletes to receive financial compensation.
The primary issue with the current regulation is that because of the rule many studentathletes are
living in poverty like conditions. The current by law is also affecting various aspects of domestic
and International students ability to continue to meet eligibility requirements. In the past ten years
college athletics as a whole has grown exponentially and it s clearly evident by the revenues the

Those that argue that college students are not receiving fair treatment would argue the point that
these amateur college athletes are not truly as fortunate as the NCAA portrays. There is no doubt
that many underprivileged young adults are indeed provided an opportunity to pursue a lifelong
dream, yet it s not as obvious when some of the statistics are examined. Though the NCAA and it s
institutions of higher learning do issue hundreds of thousands of scholarships throughout the year,
they only make up a minuet percentage of college students, in fact in the same in the same time
period of 2003 to 2004, the N.C.A.A. institutions gave athletic scholarships amounting to about 2
percent of the 6.4 million athletes playing those sports, making that select group of athletes barely
register statistically among the 5.3 million students at N.C.A.A. colleges and universities (New
York Times, n.d.). If the intent is to provide more opportunities to these underprivileged young
adults then we all have a moral obligation to review not only how scholarships are awarded, but
how many, as well as how they benefit the student athletes throughout their college years.
The second aspect of the debate is one from an economic perspective, which is the

individually in essay format, analyse its use of the elements of drama, stage craft and comic style to
determine the creation of comic meaning. The elements used within the excerpt are all contributed
to create and draw a larger focus to the comedic impact trying to be pursued; this is done
successfully due to the use of human context (roles and relationships), tension (tension of the task,
relationship, mystery, and surprise) and movement (e.g. physical actions, gestures and facial
expressions). Human context is displayed within the excerpt when displaying dimensions of the
main character and how they help to develop his character; this is done by characterising Mr Bean
himself and associating him in the opening scene, where he is presented making up in a childish
manner and expression of his relation with Teddy his toy bear, to the audience. Other than the initial
relationship introduced throughout the beginning of the excerpt, the relationship with Irma
reassures the audience that Mr Bean although he acts childish and immature he still possess traits

Who Was To Blame The Titanic Essay
In the year 1912 a ship named Titanic set out on her first voyage, but she never made it back. The
word was that this ship was unsinkable but that was proven wrong when she capsized along an
iceberg. The ship had many people aboard; some like Ruth Elizabeth Becker survived while
others died trapped in the water. Thousands of individuals believe that the Titanic sank due to the
large iceberg that it hit, but that s not the major factor in why so many lives were lost that day.
There were many contributors (most of them being human selfishness and faults). The ship had
many indications of failure before even hitting the ice. They were warned multiple times by
neighboring ships of possible danger, passengers reacted terribly in the chaos taking the every
man for themselves approach, pride, the lower class were not seen as equals and therefore not
prioritized, and the #1 cause made by crew and passengers alike is ignorance. The crew had been
warned about the icebergs in their path but would not slow down for the sake of an image. The
ship was barely filled with water when the people had been first notified of the hit, hundreds could
be saved with such a fast notice but instead they locked a whole class of people in with the water

own livelihood and image when in a disaster. Yes, there were passengers who sacrificed their lives
for others and crew members who most likely felt uneasy after hearing the warnings from the
intercom; but there was also 1,503 lives lost that could ve been

The Vietnam War Era Of American History
Stanley Karnow describes the Vietnam War era of American history as ...a tragedy of epic
dimensions... 1 and it is fair to postulate that this is no understatement. One of the more pertinent
ramifications of the Vietnam War was the deconstruction of fundamental, if somewhat illusory,
American conceptions and ideals. The war shattered America s hitherto unshakeable confidence 2 in
its political hegemony, military prowess and assumed authority in world order, i.e. ...its moral
exclusivity, its military invincibility and manifest destiny... 3 The war that was never officially
declared is one that American society and culture would rather unofficially forget. Karnow argues:
...in human terms...the war in Vietnam was a war that nobody won a struggle between victims... 4,
moreover to augment this standpoint, I would argue that another significant and concurrent victim
of the Vietnam War was, and still is, the truth. Memory is an intrinsic and integral facet of human
existence, crucially affecting every aspect of our character, actions, emotions and experiences.
Furthermore, as Marita Sturken suggests, ...memory establishes life s continuity...and provides the
very core of identity.... 5, furthermore cultural memory is ...memory shared outside the avenues of
formal historical discourse yet is entangled with cultural products and imbued with cultural
meaning... 6 Therefore, it would be logical to assume that American cultural memory innately
presupposes American cultural identity. In the

Archetypes In Ancient Greek Culture
The connections between humans and culture over time are in ancient literature. The connections

Odyssey, topics such as terrifying monsters , love tests, and an unstoppable hero are all related to
ancient Greek culture. The Odysseyshows archetypes that also reveal this culture. Three archetypes

Ancient Greeks viewed heroes as immortal, massive, god like, and known for killing using

more money then helmet usage in a crash there is no difference between injuries with a helmet and
without a helmet, and a helmet limits personal freedom. Living in Wisconsin we see see many
motorcyclist ride without helmets many non motorcyclist think that that rider is irresponsible or he
has a death wish and that they are costing them more money in there taxes thats just not true many
motorcyclist have health insurance. Which covers the cost just the same as an auto accident
motorcyclists are 45% more likely to be injured in a cycle accident then other drivers(CDC pg or
par. #). That is the name of the game and riders just learn to accept the... Show more content on

Thats how it works so where dose it end with helmets or the model of year a car you can drive on
the street thats what people have to look out for power is a big thing to possess. People don t
remember who has the power its how they use it. The government likes to use money to convince
the people of a situation the government likes to release reports of motorcyclists are leeches on
society with reports that say that motorcyclists cost the government more money then car drivers
and that motorcyclists don t have health insurance which doesn t make since because motorcyclists
make up only 2% of the vehicles on the road so how could they cost the government more money
then other vehicles on the road that out number cars by so much(CDC pg. Or par. #). Its not
possible. The one thing that the government loves to use is faulty studies in 1992 California
inActed a mandatory helmet law which the CDC states that it reduced 40% of motorcycle
accidents after the first year but what the government did not mention was the fact that California
registration for motorcycles of that year dropped 40% that year so theres the reason for the drop
in accidents(California DMV pg or par. #). Any kind of vehicle crash costs a lot of money for many

Mane Jelly Fish Research Paper
In order to understand and aid an endangered organism it is important that one must be able to
identify spatial and temporal characteristics centered on the organism s means of energy intake.
This includes not only how they search, forage or capture their prey, but also what their prey is
and where it can be found geographically. This experiment specifically focuses on the foraging
aspect of an endangered species, the Leatherback Sea Turtles, in order to see how their prey
influences their foraging behavior and success. The problem that most researchers have been faced
with when regarding this topic is the fact that most prey are encountered and consumed at great
depths by the organism. Thus, there is not a lot of information or data that has been discovered
because... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thus, they concluded that these temperate waters off of eastern Canada play an extremely
important role in the Leatherback s survival as they allow them to capitalize on seasonally
abundant prey in coastal temperate waters, showing that their migratory patterns are a necessity in
order to ensure their survival by allowing them to come gorge off of the abundance of food. The
scientists actually found out that the turtles, when they come to the waters off of eastern Canada,
increase in mass by roughly 33 percent. They also found out that even though jelly fish are fairly
energy poor the intake of them by the Leatherback Turtles actually results in a high energy intake for

Porter s Generic Strategies Framework
Introduction Porter s generic strategies framework constitutes a major contribution to the
development of the strategic management literature. Generic strategies were first presented in
two books by Professor Michael Porter of the Harvard Business School (Porter, 1980, 1985).
Porter (1980, 1985) suggested that some of the most basic choices faced by companies are
essentially the scope of the markets that the company would serve and how the company would
compete in the selected markets. Competitive strategies focus on ways in which a company can
achieve the most advantageous position that it possibly can in its industry (Pearson, 1999). The
profit of a company is essentially the difference between its revenues and costs. Therefore high...

Companies employ this strategy by focusing on the areas in a market where there is the least
amount of competition (Pearson, 1999). Organisations can make use of the focus strategy by
focusing on a specific niche in the market and offering specialised products for that niche. This
is why the focus strategy is also sometimes referred to as the niche strategy (Lynch, 2003).
Therefore, competitive advantage can be achieved only in the company s target segments by
employing the focus strategy. The company can make use of the cost leadership or
differentiation approach with regard to the focus strategy. In that, a company using the cost
focus approach would aim for a cost advantage in its target segment only. If a company is using
the differentiation focus approach, it would aim for differentiation in its target segment only,
and not the overall market. This strategy provides the company the possibility to charge a
premium price for superior quality (differentiation focus) or by offering a low price product to a
small and specialised group of buyers (cost focus). Ferrari and Rolls Royce are classic examples
of niche players in the automobile industry. Both these companies have a niche of premium
products available at a premium price. Moreover, they have a small percentage of the worldwide
market, which is a trait characteristic of niche players. The downside of the focus strategy,
however, is that the niche characteristically is small and may not be significant or large

Essay about Analysis of Theodore DalrympleВґs What We Have...
Theodore Dalrymple is an English writer and retired prison doctor and psychiatrist. Daniel in his
writings has frequently argued that the liberal and progressive views prevalent within Western
intellectual circles minimize the responsibility of individuals for their own actions and undermine
mores which are traditional, contributing to the formation within rich countries of an underclass
which is afflicted by violence, sexually transmitted diseases, criminality, welfare dependency and
drug abuse. His writings are generally based on his experience of working with criminals and the
mentally ill. Dalrymple has been at various occasions been accused of being a pessimist and a
misanthrope, but his persistent conservative philosophy has which is... Show more content on

The quiet heroism of those concerts and recitals were a potent symbol of the human achievement
emanated from the fact that Myra was a Jewish and played music from the same land as the enemy
s leader who represented barbarism. No one questioned those concerts and its relevance when the
world was ablaze but they understood the defiant gesture of humanity and culture in the face of
unprecedented brutality, and provide a subtle noble message. The story of Dalrymple s horrified
discovery, in Liberia s Centennial Hall where he describes about a never seen before rejection of
human refinement, wherein the piano not only represented the Liberia s culture but also an idea of
civilization, in itself an obvious coarseness of the gesture of contempt. The reaction of two young
British journalists, to whom there was nothing significant in the vandalizing of the piano only an
inanimate object. There was no compassion for the scores of thousands of people who had been
killed and many more had been displaced from their homes in the civil wars .He was appalled to
see that the two could see no connection between the impulse to destroy the piano and the impulse
to kill and no connection between respect for human life and for the finer productions of human
labor, no connection between the book burnings in Nazi Germany and all the subsequent barbarities
of that regime. This pair of seemingly trivial incidents reveals with an odd poignancy, or

Sun God Of Egypt Ra
Angel Orellana

Sun God of Egypt Ra In ancient Egypt people believe that the sun king represented power and
strength. The sun God for the ancient Egyptians represented life. The reasons that it represented life
are that the sun had power, energy, light and warmth. At that time they worship the sun God Ra.
People believe that he made the crops grow every season. A lot of ancient cultures marked the
date as significant, since the sun is at its highest point and the concept of sun worship is as old as
mankind. The dependence on the sun for life and sustenance in societies were primarily
agricultural. That is why people believed in the Sun God. The Sun God started in Ancient Egypt
where Ra comes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This shows the importance of how the Sun God Ra was important to people. The reason was
that he was referred to Re and father of gods which means that every god should have a
representation of him since he is the god of creation and the sun. Ra was recognized as a
religious figure and capture the environment when Ra was related to the Sun Boat of Ra. The
Sun Boat was a great ship, called the Barque of Ages , in which Ra and his companion gods
sailed through the sky giving light to the world and then through the perilous journey of the
night, sailing through the underworld. The companion gods of Ra helped defend the sun god
against the Serpent god Apep, which represented the victory of right over wrong... There were
many prayers and spells to help Ra and the sun boat overcome Apep the evil serpent . This shows
how Ra the sun God was recognized as the chosen to defeat the evilness. People view him as the
light to the world and view him as a God since they pray for him. This is where Ra, the god sun is
view as a religious figure. Ra was part of the Tree of life. The sun temple located in the City of
Heliopolis, Egypt, was dedicated to Ra, the Supreme Solar God, and housed the Tree of Life.
The fruit of the Tree of Life gave Eternal Life and the Knowledge of the Divine Plan, a map of
destiny. The fruit of the Tree of Life was not available to mortals, only in the rituals relating

Gangs and Injunctions
Gangs and Injunctions Criminal activities and gangs have mostly always been an on going
problem in the United States. Gangs and gang members are frequently involved with a variety of
different crimes. The 2008 National Youth Gang Survey reported that there are approximately
774,000 active gang members in the United States (Egley, Howell, Moore, 2010). The 2008
National Youth Gang Survey also states that there are about 27,900 active gangs in the United
States (Egley et al., 2010). The active gangs in California have caused a major impact on the state
in many ways. According to the California Department of Justice, approximately 300,000 gang
members are living in California (Crawford, 2009). California also attributes more than 25... Show

The police force may be looked at negatively for setting such heavy restrictions on regular
neighborhoods because there are injunctions set upon the area. The people from the
neighborhoods would be the individuals that believe gang injunctions should not be enforced.
One of the many problems involved with gang injunctions is that there is not a clear definition
of what a gang is. Numerous definitions of gangs have come about through the decades. For
example, the 2006 National Youth Gang Survey defines a gang as a group of youths in your
jurisdiction that you are willing to classify as a gang (Egley, O Donnell, 2008). This definition
of a gang is very vague because any group of youths can be seen as a gang. This definition does
not always work. For example, a group of people who share a common interest like reading
books or collecting baseball cards can be labeled as a gang. The National Gang Center and
federal law define a gang as any ongoing group, club, organization, or association of five or more
person: A) that has as one of its primary purposes the commission of one or more of the criminal
offenses; B) the members of which engage, or have engaged within the past five years, in a
continuing series of offenses; and C) the activities of which affect interstate or foreign commerce
(Brief review of Federal and State definitions, 2009, p.1). Another problem closely associated with
gang injunctions are the violations of constitutional rights.

Essay On The Conch Shell In Lord Of The Flies
A group of young British boys is stranded on an island with little to no supplies, besides a silly
shell, and a fire to keep their hope alive. In William Golding s Lord of the Flies, a group of British
boys were shot out of an airplane and landed on a strange island, all separated from each other. It is
a very interesting novelwhich includes a series of intense and sad events that all play a part in
leading the group of boys to their rescue off of the island. The group of boys has also come across
multiple items which represent a larger and influential idea towards the reader. The fire, conch, and
the specs which belong to Piggy. The symbolic conch shell in Lord of the Flies evolved its meaning
throughout the novel seeing that it first represented order, became power, and ultimately a loss of
civilizationthrough the course of the book.
To begin, throughout the beginning of Lord of the Flies, the conch shell becomes a symbol of
order and unity. After their tragic plane crash, one element that brought the boys together was the
conch shell. One of the main characters, Ralph, used the conch shell to call anyone else who is
on the island, which resulted in the other boys being found and a tribe being formed. When Ralph
was voted chief, he started to create rules that were based around the conch. Ralph picked up the
conch and began to explain the rules, And another thing. We can t have everybody talking at once.
We ll have Hands up like at school. He held the conch

  • 2. The Murder Of The Mountains In Robert Wolfe s Play The... The Mountains is a play about a young man that returns home from the city to help his father in his work as a home doctor. The play opens with the young man by the name of Richard, or as his sister Laura calls him Dick. The two have a long conversation trying to catch up with one another after Dick has been gone to school for the past eight years (Wolfe 57). At one point the two go to talk about how the mountains kill the folk around them. How the mountains kill the folks around them is what pushes the play to climax later. After Dick and Laura s conversation the man of the evening Dr. Weaver enters to warm greetings. With these warm greetings also comes a sense of urgency from Dick and Laura to have Dick take over Dr. Weaver s position as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Essay on Home Schooling is Not the Best Option Home Schooling is Not the Best Option For those of us who have never been exposed into the world of home schooling, it carries a certain mystique. We might envision a family alternating between algebra and Bible study, keeping a safe distance from the rampant worldliness in schools. Or perhaps we see children sitting around the kitchen table practicing spelling while mother supervises. Despite these traditional images, home schooling is growing and gaining respect. This is due in part to high profile success stories like home schoolers finishing first, second and third in the 2000 Scripps Howard National Spelling Bee or the Colfax family in California who sent three sons to Harvard. However, home schooling raises many questions ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Both the left and right wings of home schooling are active today with an estimated 1.5 million home schooled children, as many families have both philosophical and religious for their choice (Kantrowitz Wingert 1). Joining them are many home schoolers who simply seek the highest quality education for their child, which they believe public and even private schools can no longer provide. Forty years ago home schooling did not satisfy compulsory education requirements in most states. Due to a gradual change in legislature, all states accept home schooling as a valid alternative but regulations vary by state. Lines asserts that at a minimum, families must file basic information with either the state or local education agency (3/8). One of the most important criteria to consider when looking at home schooling is academics. In an era when the focus on accountability has become magnified, achievement of scholars is key to evaluating education. One of the first things to consider when looking at the academic quality of education is the ability of the teacher. Jennie and Donald Rakestraw, both professors at Georgia Southern College, argue that some parents do not have the ability or the patience to teach their children well (277). A home schooled child suffers the chance of an uneven education due to the imbalanced preparation of the parent. Along with the focus on accountability has come an increased need for measuring the achievement of home ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Best Buy Is A Retail Company Best Buy is a retail company that was discovered by Richard M. Schulze in 1966 that specializes in all types of electronics. These electronics could be anything from cell phones to laptops to speakers. When the company first opened in Minnesota, they went by the name of Sound of Music Inc. Back than the store only focused on stereos for the home and car. Around four years after that, Schulze bought out his partner and began to expand the company on his own. Things really started to boom around the 1980 s, and in 1983 the company renamed itself to Best Buy. They than started to focus on other type of equipment other than just audio devices, such as a device that was popular back than but seems primitive now, the VCR. The following year is... Students will be able to lease either new or slightly used products (from previous leases) for the academic school year by signing a contract with their local Best Buy. The contract will include details such as when it starts and when it ends, how much is required a month, and if need be a down payment. I think that this will generate a positive response from the public seeing as now more students will be able to handle college with the necessary technology. This is a brand extension because Best Buy currently does not partake in leasing so it will be a new sector for the company to generate income from. The target market is college students who need to purchase electronics for school. Seeing as how nowadays most students rely on their laptops for notes, important documents, and typing papers, the market is only going to grow in the future. Some professors even require students to take tests and submit homework online. Our whole lifestyle is moving toward to implementation of technology, so we believe everybody should have the opportunity to utilize it. While some kids may me more fortunate than others in terms of money, we offer the leasing solution as a way to even the playing field so that no students have an exponential advantage over others. Some college students pay for everything on their own and would not be able to afford a new laptop if they had to pay in full at the time of purchase. This is why ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Community Journalism as a Synonym for Small Town Newspapers Literature Review: The notion of community journalism is hardly a new one. However, during the past decade, the concept gained much fascination and interest among industry analysts. The literature available on the topic points out that the reason behind this strong comeback of community journalism lies in the fact that most regions where the boom is taking place are undergoing a transitional phase that paved the way for this shift. The literature, however, refers to two trends in this matter: the first is the effect of economic transition on the reemergence of community journalism in countries such as the US and the UK, the second is the effect of political transition on the emergence of community journalism in countries such as South Africa. In other words, while the former example shows a rebirth of an old notion as a result of economic decline, the latter shows an adoption of the concept in the hope of facilitating political transition. Concerning the effect of economic transition, one theory is that the diminishing influence of larger newspapers (in the US and the UK) and the decline in number of their circulation allowed localized news outlets to flourish and become more prominent (Conhaim, 2006). During these times of financial troubles, local publications had the power to remain profitable by focusing on small target audiences, and offer unique, concentrated, localized content as their niche product. So in addition to succeeding in gaining financial prosperity, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

With water being a natural resource overuse and misuses of it can cause its supply to rapidly dwindle down, and that s exactly what s happening in Californiaright now. California s water comes a married of places such as aquifers, groundwater, surface water, rivers, reservoirs, dams and irrigation systems where 80% of that water goes towards agriculture and 20% to urban/residential use. • 9. Gay Marriage Should Be Banned Israel McIntosh Professor Endara 5/6/15 Phil 5 Gay Marriage Should be Banned 1.Introduction Gay marriage has been in hot debate for a while now. What once was shunned in almost every culture and society is now creeping into our laws and customs as normal and even acceptable due to the increase of radicals found in Anglo Saxon societies such as the US and UK. Fueled by the recent revolutions of women and interracial groups, homosexuals (a group less than 1 percent of the world s population), have finally taken a stand. Marriage has been a union of opposite sexes for nearly 5000 years and now has come into such scrutiny that it has taken on the attention of the Supreme Court. On April 28th, 2015, the Supreme Court began the case of Obergefell v. Hodge, the dispute which would settle the legalization of gay marriage in the entire US. From such a case, the question arises: Should gay marriage be legalized in the United States? After analyzing the points on both sides of the feud, I came to the clear conclusion that the answer was no, gay marriage should become and continue to be illegal in the United States. 2.Why Should we Ban Gay Marriage? II.A. Marriage was originally intended as the union of two people of opposite gender in order to create a procreation flesh. The problem with this is that a gay marriage, or union of two males or two females, would produce an entirely sterile couple who could not produce children with each other. Although seemingly harmless, this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These battles were fought not by soldiers, but by citizens whose rebellion allows Americans many of the freedoms they enjoy today. This is not the only area in which he showed unusual respect for the Natives. In 1635 he was put on trial in Salem for harboring views which proved too radical for the locals there. One of the radical views Williams preached was that land should be bought from Natives, as opposed to being taken. In fact, after his trial, (and subsequent banishment), the land on which he founded Providence, Rhode Island was land he had purchased from the Narragansett Indians. Roger Williams helped shape America into the refuge it would become by creating a colony on principles of religious tolerance and equality regardless of race. While Williams was preparing a sanctuary for outcasts, a battle for equality was also being fought by future resident of Rhode Island, Anne Hutchinson. Anne Hutchinson embodied rebellion by promoting equality, which she did by working for the liberation of women, particularly in the religious field. Although entirely without formal schooling, like virtually every woman in her day, Anne Hutchinson had been well educated on her father s knee. Francis Marbury, a Cambridge educated clergyman, school master, and Puritan reformer, was her father. But these are no ordinary honeycombs they re human livers (Tomo News). These small phenomenon of biomedical engineering are identical to tissue samples of the real thing and constructed from actual human cells. But instead of being grown in the lab or taken from a donor, the biomedical professionals at Organovo print them, just like they would a document. In the past two decades, 3 D printing has grown from a niche manufacturing process to a $2.7 billion industry, responsible for the fabrication of all sorts of things: toys, jewelry, machine parts, and even food (Griggs). But now scientists are working to apply that same technology to the field of medicine. In labs around the world, like the one at Organovo, scientists have begun to print prototype body parts including heart valves, ears, artificial bone, joints, menisci, vascular tubes, and skin grafts, ( Bioprinting ). Ebola disease is transmitted by contact with body fluids, blood, and tissues of animals or even people who have been infected with the disease. Also, Ebola can be spread through bedding, needles, clothing or medical equipment. Researchers believe that the virus originates from infected fruit bats. Your chances of getting Ebola are very slim. However, if you are or if you have been in a place where there has been a recent outbreak of Ebola disease your chances are at a higher risk. Scientist believe that the first person that received Ebola was a two year old in southern Guinea. Since 1976 to 2016 there have been 28,637 reported cases of Ebola and, they figure up to 11,315 deaths. The cause of the Ebola virus results in damaged vascular cells that are formed from the blood vessels, damage to the liver, large amounts of viruses in the blood etc. Ebola causes uncontrollable bleeding and, that eventually leads to fluid and blood loss that can cause hypotensive shock which causes death in most of the Ebola infected victims. They explained to me how hard it was for them because they ve never seen me with the hijab, but they also wanted to try it because it was new to them. My English teacher, Mrs. Fernald overheard us talking and said: why don t you bring us hijabs tomorrow, we ll wear it with you . I was really excited and was so happy that I started getting teary simple because I felt good to know that I wasn t alone. The next day I brought them hijabs and put it on for them and we took a picture together. That picture still means the world to me. I started wearing the hijab because I felt like it was the right thing to do, but it was a hard transition. My friends kept telling me to take it off and kept asking if I was having a bad hair day. It was hard for me to explain it to them because they kept asking why now? It was hard to explain it to them in general. That moment showed me that my hijab wasn t stopping me from doing anything and that people would support me if I showed them that my hijab didn t change who I am. Readers are introduced to grandmother, an elderly woman whose consistent unscrupulous behavior exhibits her inner motives. Grandmother uses subtle, indirect confrontation to get her way until she is faced with The Misfit, a runaway criminal who believes that crime is a justifiable. In A Good Man Is Hard To Find, Flannery O Connor uses characterization to display a loss of morals, imagery to portray evil in society, and symbolism to emphasize the struggle of obtaining grace to prove how life is nihilistic without religion. Characterization is used not only to amuse readers, but to also display an understanding of human nature, in this case a decline in values. June Star is described as critical with a nasty motormouth. Overpopulation can be defined to fill with an excessive number of people, straining available resources and facilities. By 2050, the world will be apart of nine billion people. Today at least one billion people are starving or are chronically malnourished. The basic definition of being chronically malnourished is that a person will fail to grow to their full potential. If we educate people and help them understand that the need to have one or two children at the most is right, then hopefully overpopulation will get better. In addition, studies have shown that when Women have more job opportunities, they tend to chose having smaller families, thus investing more in each child rather than more, and this will help break the poverty cycle. Secondly, we can enforce family planning. As the population is increasing at a fast pace, trying to raise awareness about this issue with families, and giving them an idea about the effects population has on the world, can help families think about their future ... Agriculture, fishery and forestry directly account for just one fifth (20 percent) of the economy s aggregate domestic output (GDP). Ever since the 1960s, the direct share of agriculture in the GDP had fallen below one third, and by 1981, the sector s share had decreased to only 23 percent. Growth from this level was rather anemic, averaging 1.7 percent per annum during the period 1981 2003, compared to the average overall GDP growth of 2.6% over the same period. Production and Productivity Trends Labor productivity. Up until the 1970s, the Philippines agricultural performance, in terms of both agricultural Gross Value Added (GVA) and agricultural exports, compared well with its neighbors and other Asian countries (Figure 3a). But by the 1980s and 1990s, the country had lagged behind most of the countries in the region (Figures 3b and 3c). This came as agricultural output growth had slowed down dramatically through the decades (Figure 4). Moreover, the sector s growth had been rather erratic in the 1990s, especially with the periodic occurrence of the El NiГ±o phenomenon that had appreciable impact on weather patterns and, consequently, agricultural performance. Table 1 shows the average annual growth in GVA of major agricultural commodities since 1960. What is clear from the table is that growth rates of all commodities, except for livestock and poultry, have been slowing down over time. Furthermore, growth rates have been below the population growth rate, implying that production has not been able to keep up with increasing population. Different from a strict science to practice approach to decision making, most practitioners chose components using input from multiple other sources including stakeholders (i.e., youth and parents), personal beliefs, and program requirements (Honig Coburn, 2008). Fun or enjoyment for youth was the most common rationale. Whether a program is enjoyable has not typically been included in measures of OST program quality, but perhaps it should be one. Enjoyment is a property of engaging programs (Bohnert, Fredricks, Randall, 2010) and engagement, in turn, is critical for attracting and retaining youth. Staff who create engaging environments tend to be youth centered in their approach to programming and are effective listeners and observers of the youth they serve (Larson, Walker, Pearce, 2005; Larson, Walker, Rusk, Diaz 2015). Building skills was also a common rationale. Different from the origins of OST programs in the U.S. as settings designed to provide supervision during the gap between the end of the school day for youth and work day for parents (Mahoney, Parente, Zigler, 2009), programs in this study were described as educational and development contexts aiming to augment competencies and/or reduce risks. Indeed, most practitioners viewed youth development as a main objective alongside safety. Whenever the framers thought that it was necessary to amend the Constitution, they would need to propose an amendment that would require a quorum of two thirds vote from both houses of Congress, or a national convention called by two thirds of several states. Following the first step of amending the Constitution, the proposed amendment has to be approved by either the state legislatures or the state conventions depending on how congress first proposed the amendment, in three fourths of the states. In this assessment task this comic excerpt is to be analysed, and individually in essay format, analyse its use of the elements of drama, stage craft and comic style to determine the creation of comic meaning. The elements used within the excerpt are all contributed to create and draw a larger focus to the comedic impact trying to be pursued; this is done successfully due to the use of human context (roles and relationships), tension (tension of the task, relationship, mystery, and surprise) and movement (e.g. physical actions, gestures and facial expressions). Human context is displayed within the excerpt when displaying dimensions of the main character and how they help to develop his character; this is done by characterising Mr Bean himself and associating him in the opening scene, where he is presented making up in a childish manner and expression of his relation with Teddy his toy bear, to the audience. Other than the initial relationship introduced throughout the beginning of the excerpt, the relationship with Irma reassures the audience that Mr Bean although he acts childish and immature he still possess traits that position him as an adult. One of the more pertinent ramifications of the Vietnam War was the deconstruction of fundamental, if somewhat illusory, American conceptions and ideals. The war shattered America s hitherto unshakeable confidence 2 in its political hegemony, military prowess and assumed authority in world order, i.e. ...its moral exclusivity, its military invincibility and manifest destiny... 3 The war that was never officially declared is one that American society and culture would rather unofficially forget. Karnow argues: ...in human terms...the war in Vietnam was a war that nobody won a struggle between victims... 4, moreover to augment this standpoint, I would argue that another significant and concurrent victim of the Vietnam War was, and still is, the truth. Memory is an intrinsic and integral facet of human existence, crucially affecting every aspect of our character, actions, emotions and experiences. Furthermore, as Marita Sturken suggests, ...memory establishes life s continuity...and provides the very core of identity.... 5, furthermore cultural memory is ...memory shared outside the avenues of formal historical discourse yet is entangled with cultural products and imbued with cultural meaning... 6 Therefore, it would be logical to assume that American cultural memory innately presupposes American cultural identity. (Harris,3) Odysseus is only a mortal given a task to accomplish while fighting monsters and facing great dangers. The title hero varies between different cultures, but all have a similarity. Ancient Greeks viewed heroes as immortal, massive, god like, and known for killing using trickery, while modern times view heroes as muscular, immortal, saving people, and wearing capes when doing it. Mane Jelly Fish Research Paper In order to understand and aid an endangered organism it is important that one must be able to identify spatial and temporal characteristics centered on the organism s means of energy intake. This experiment specifically focuses on the foraging aspect of an endangered species, the Leatherback Sea Turtles, in order to see how their prey influences their foraging behavior and success. The problem that most researchers have been faced with when regarding this topic is the fact that most prey are encountered and consumed at great depths by the organism. • 48. Porter s Generic Strategies Framework Introduction Porter s generic strategies framework constitutes a major contribution to the development of the strategic management literature. Generic strategies were first presented in two books by Professor Michael Porter of the Harvard Business School (Porter, 1980, 1985). Porter (1980, 1985) suggested that some of the most basic choices faced by companies are essentially the scope of the markets that the company would serve and how the company would compete in the selected markets. Competitive strategies focus on ways in which a company can achieve the most advantageous position that it possibly can in its industry (Pearson, 1999). The profit of a company is essentially the difference between its revenues and costs. Therefore high... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Companies employ this strategy by focusing on the areas in a market where there is the least amount of competition (Pearson, 1999). Organisations can make use of the focus strategy by focusing on a specific niche in the market and offering specialised products for that niche. This is why the focus strategy is also sometimes referred to as the niche strategy (Lynch, 2003). Therefore, competitive advantage can be achieved only in the company s target segments by employing the focus strategy. The company can make use of the cost leadership or differentiation approach with regard to the focus strategy. In that, a company using the cost focus approach would aim for a cost advantage in its target segment only. If a company is using the differentiation focus approach, it would aim for differentiation in its target segment only, and not the overall market. This strategy provides the company the possibility to charge a premium price for superior quality (differentiation focus) or by offering a low price product to a small and specialised group of buyers (cost focus). Ferrari and Rolls Royce are classic examples of niche players in the automobile industry. Both these companies have a niche of premium products available at a premium price. Moreover, they have a small percentage of the worldwide market, which is a trait characteristic of niche players. The downside of the focus strategy, however, is that the niche characteristically is small and may not be significant or large ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The story of Dalrymple s horrified discovery, in Liberia s Centennial Hall where he describes about a never seen before rejection of human refinement, wherein the piano not only represented the Liberia s culture but also an idea of civilization, in itself an obvious coarseness of the gesture of contempt. The people from the neighborhoods would be the individuals that believe gang injunctions should not be enforced. One of the many problems involved with gang injunctions is that there is not a clear definition of what a gang is. Numerous definitions of gangs have come about through the decades. For example, the 2006 National Youth Gang Survey defines a gang as a group of youths in your jurisdiction that you are willing to classify as a gang (Egley, O Donnell, 2008). This definition of a gang is very vague because any group of youths can be seen as a gang. This definition does not always work. For example, a group of people who share a common interest like reading books or collecting baseball cards can be labeled as a gang. The National Gang Center and federal law define a gang as any ongoing group, club, organization, or association of five or more person: A) that has as one of its primary purposes the commission of one or more of the criminal offenses; B) the members of which engage, or have engaged within the past five years, in a continuing series of offenses; and C) the activities of which affect interstate or foreign commerce (Brief review of Federal and State definitions, 2009, p.1). Another problem closely associated with gang injunctions are the violations of constitutional rights. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
