Elements they do not want to replicate include cuts within the song, overly choreographed dance performances, and distracting special effects.
A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202
The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.

2. Introduction – Song title and artist
Narrative video/ seconds of performance within the narrative
Multiple angles, costumes, locations and props
Natural lighting (day and night)
Sound over music to add to narrative
Chronological
The video is heavily based on a narrative, which I do not wish to reflect in my music
video. However I like the use of the title at the beginning of the song and an overall
introduction before the song begins to address the narrative. I may use this in my video
to introduce a concept to the audience.
3. Slow motion tracking
Performance and concept video
Dance performance
Multiple angles, locations and props
Lots of people in shot
Rotating camera
Natural lighting (day and night)
One costume
The use of one costume and the build up to a storyline shows me that the video is based
around one day. I don’t want to reflect this is my music video as I want my video to show
a larger period of time and use multiple costumes. I like the use of the camera rotating
and the variation of angles, so I will try to create a similar effect in my video.
4. Introduction – song title
Black and white, and colour shots – natural lighting
Performance video
Vintage camera effect
Multiple shots, locations and props
Casual, aesthetic costume
I like the way that the artist is wearing costume that reflects their casual aesthetic style,
this is recognisable to an audience so I will try and achieve the same effect in my video. I
also like the vintage camera effect, which I will also try to replicate in my video.
5. 2 prominent settings – multiple locations
Concept and narrative video
Multiple props, angles and costumes
I like the transition made in the video to show the journey made to get to the second
setting, I may try to replicate this for my video. There was no performance in the video
despite the one character being the artist. I didn’t like this as it distracted from the song
too much and seemed disjunctive, therefore I will be using performance in my video.
6. Dance performance
Lyrics on screen
Tracking camera – mainly mid shot
Vintage camera effect
City setting – multiple locations
Neon lighting
Split screen
Minimal costume and props
I like the tracking in the video as it looks as though a friend or love interest of the
character is filming, I would like to replicate this effect with the vintage style camera
effect. The lyrics on screen are effective but I would rather focus on my concept and let
the audience listen to the song.
7. Introduction and cuts in song – builds narrative
Multiple locations, angles and costumes
Bright lighting
Dance performance
Lots of people in shots
Narrative and performance
I like the use of introduction however I found the cuts within the song distracting. It made
the video more like a short film than a music video which I don’t want for my music video.
I also don’t like the use of artificial lighting for my video because my video will be set in
natural and casual, everyday locations. The dance performance went well with the song
but I don’t think it would be suitable for my song/artist.
8. Introduction – title and artist
disjunctive, and instrumental performance
Minimal costume and props
Slow motion with long shots
Multiple locations and angles
I like the disjunctive style but I don’t think this would be suitable for my video. I also don’t
think that the minimal use of props and costume would fit the aesthetic of my song. I
would like to replicate the use of multiple costumes though.
9. Multiple props, location and costume – relatable for a young audience
Dance routines
Introduction – builds narrative
Narrative, concept and performance video
Tracking shots
Artificial bright/coloured lighting
I enjoy the use of props and costume that are relatable for teenagers and young adults.
This would make my video more attractive to my audience. I also like the use of tracking
shots because it makes the audience feel involved in the video.
10. Title at the beginning of the song
House setting – multiple locations
Concept and performance video
Group of people
Split screen
Dance routine
I liked the Christmas concept for the video as it matched the lyrics and style of the song. I
also enjoyed the use of multiple rooms in the house setting. The split screen is effective
so I may try to replicate this in my video.
11. Introduction – builds concept
Concept video – one costume
Dance performance
Tracking shot
Home setting – multiple locations
Low lighting
I enjoy the dance performance in this video as it seems natural to the pace of the song
and doesn’t look too choreographed. I will try this in my video as it is attractive and
relatable for an audience.
12. Performance and narrative video
Bright/natural lighting
Home and outdoor locations
Multiple locations, props and angles
Artist and one other character
I like the way that the artist sings but then there are cuts to shots of the couple. This
allows the couple to be the main focus of the video and there is no need for other
characters. I also would like to replicate the use of locations inside and around the home.
13. Dark/natural lighting
Performance to camera
Tracking shot – slow motion
Artist alone till the last moment
Special effects
I though that the use of special effects was distracting as it did not fit with the rest of the
video. However I do like the slow motion tracking shots as they flow well with the song, I
may try to replicate this in my music video. As well as the performance to the camera.
14. Performance and concept
Black and white
Warehouse location
Dance performance
Fade in shots
Multiple people
One costume
I like the simplicity of this video as it allows the song to be more prominent and gives a
deeper meaning. But I don’t think this would be suitable for a song from the pop genre
like mine. I also enjoyed the way that some of the shots faded in, I may try to replicate
this I my video.
15. Introduction – Title and band name
Tracking shot
Multiple locations, costumes and props
Natural lighting
Performance and disjuncture
I like the relatable locations in the video, this makes the audience more attracted to the
video. This is why I will try to replicate this in my music video. I also like the introduction
with the title and band name as it will make the information more noticeable to the
audience.
16. Title sign
Lyrics on screen
Range of angles
Minimal costume and props
Cutaway to narrative
Repeated shots
I like the repeated shots in the video as the image sticks in your head, which makes the
video more noticeable for an audience. I may replicate this in my video and try to make it
fit the pace of my song.
17. Layered image
Vintage camera effect
One character
Concept
One location
Multiple props
This video stands out to me because of the use of props. I want to replicate the playful
mise en scene that is apparent in this video. This will make the video more attractive and
‘fun’ for an audience.
18. Introduction – builds narrative
Narrative, concept and performance
Minimal costume and location
Dance performance
Multiple angles and people
I like the dance performance in this video as it is eye catching for an audience however I
don’t feel that this would be suitable for my style of music video. Therefore I will not try to
replicate a dance style.
19. Introduction – build up narrative and concept
Neon and natural lighting
Performance
Multiple locations and costume
Subtitles – gap in song
Credits and title at the end
I like the use of the title and credits at the end as the audience remembers these better
when they are on screen. I also like the chronological concept and narrative which builds
up the storyline well. I may try to replicate this in my video.
20. Introduction – spoken
Concept, performance and narrative
Multiple angles and costumes
Minimal props
I like the spoken introduction as it builds up narrative and introduces the song well. So I
may try to replicate this in my music video. I also like the use of multiple props in the
video as it makes the video relatable for the audience, this will make it more attractive.
21. Introduction – spoken builds concept
Montage of travelling and TV
Multiple angles, locations, costume and people
Cut in-between song
Performance and concept
I like the way that this video reflects the style of a travel vlog, I will try to achieve the
same effect in my video as it think it is effective for the audience. I don’t like the cuts in
between the song as it is distracting but I want to replicate the spoken introduction style.
