The speed of sound depends on the type and temperature of the medium, with liquids and solids conducting sound better than gases as temperature increases. Pitch is determined by frequency, with higher pitches having higher frequencies. Intensity, or loudness, increases with amplitude and is measured in decibels, with sounds like jet engines and chain saws being very loud while whispers and breathing are very quiet.

7. Resonance- the tendency of an object to vibrate at the same frequency as another vibrating source. Reverberation - echoing effect produced by multiple reflections of sound.

9. Interference - the ability for 2 or more waves to combine and form a new wave.

10. Diffraction - the bending of waves around a barrier.
