Multiple boxes on a loom allow different colored threads to be woven together to create patterned fabrics. There are two main box motion systems - the circular box system where boxes revolve on a spindle, and the drop box system where boxes rise and fall. Common fabrics made using multiple box motions include striped, checked, figured, crepe, and double cloth fabrics.
