Professional Accomplishments include the following:
• Consolidated and simplified a diverse IT infrastructure for Children’s Health. Children’s Health is the
seventh-largest pediatric health care provider in the country. The solution is designed such that the
network, storage, and compute environments can be quickly and efficiently updated to facilitate diverse
demand requirements. Integration of application such as EPIC were folded seamlessly into the solution.
Children’s Health is recognized on the Hospitals & Health Networks Magazine’s Most Wired list and was a
2015 candidate for the Brill award for IT efficiency.
• Leveraged a team of experts to complete an all-encompassing IT assessment for the Electrical Reliability
Council of Texas (ERCOT) which is responsible for managing the flow of electrical power to 90% of
Texas customers. A complete IT solution was designed and implemented based on strict North American
Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) compliance standards and that would address existing IT
limitations and challenges for at least 5-7 years. The solution included Cisco Nexus 7K & 5K hardware,
FabricPath, OTV, 40 Gig backbone, Active/Active data centers, converged compute, converged data
storage and data protection
• Replicated the success at ERCOT with Blackbaud. BlackBaud processes financial transactions for over
29,000 nonprofit organizations. The IT solutions included: Cisco Nexus 9Ks, data center consolidation,
converged compute and storage, extensive data protection and replication, next generation security
advancements and WAN redesign. The solution reduced the existing footprint of the two data centers such
that a 24-36 month ROI could be achieved. IT related CapEx/OpEx expeditures could more accurately be
predicted quarterly thus providing a tighter “just-in-time” hardware resource utilization model.
• Lead Network Architect responsible for the integration of the USAirways and American Airlines global
networks. Lead architect responsible for the design, engineering and implementation of the integration
efforts. Created, evaluated and approved integration strategies that were identified in architecture review
board meetings across many network disciplines.
• Lead Network Architect that designed, tested and implemented two greenfield data centers located in
Dallas TX and New York, NY that are resilient to unexpected anomalies, robust for future growth and
provide proven sub-second failover capabilities. These networks involved the deployment of Cisco 6500,
Catalyst 4500 switches, Cisco 3925 routers and ASA5510 firewalls over a 10Gig network infrastructure.
• Analyzed existing KLA Tencor network deployment strategy and compared findings to recent network
assessment of 60 locations to create a global network redesign that addressed customer specific business,
functional and technical requirements. Solutions leveraged existing designs where possible to maintain
post deployment support efficiencies, inserted new technology and modern industry best practices to
improve performance and resiliency and addressed customer specific requirements to utilize WAN circuits
more efficiently.
• Designed and implemented a vast fully redundant SCADA network for the Unites States 9th
largest city
(Dallas) and surrounding areas. The 70+ locations rely on MPLS, 3G mobility, DMVPN, multilayer
IPSEC and seamless routing between each for connectivity resiliency. Design meets and/or exceeds
current Department of Homeland Security requirements.
• Completed a global network assessment for Dell. Technology evaluations included: network design,
network performance, network vulnerabilities, wireless capabilities, circuit design, hardware and software
lifecycle management, network knowledge management, network monitoring, network routing and
switching efficiencies, documentation standards ITIL Service Design and Transition. Final assessment
4 7/12/2016
identified 90+ network specific recommendations that had the potential, if implemented, to realize multi-
million dollar cost savings for the business.
• Performed a DDI assessment for WalMart, to address ip address depletion and DNS and DHCP
management. Provided recommendations that reduced Sev1 outages and improved “time-to-deployment”
metrics
• Technical lead responsible for the intricate and complex merger and integration of thirty global SBC &
AT&T Internet Data Centers.
• Architected and performed method of procedure to migrate two Internet Data Centers from one service
provider’s gigabit ethernet uplinks to another service provider’s 10 gigabit Ethernet handoff via BGP and
OSPF modifications all while maintaining 100% uptime for 400+ data center customers.
• Successfully consolidated 124 customers with asymmetric redundant connections on four Cisco 6509
switches to two Cisco 6509s. The effort required a complete cabling overhaul and meticulous planning to
ensure that customer impact was avoided. Once complete, new customer installs, documentation processes,
asset utilization and issue isolation were significantly improved.
• Redesigned the global deployment of a WAN compression infrastructure for HBK Capital Management
and USAirways. Modifications included; off-path deployment of WAN compression devices, application
definition tuning, review of defined compression subnets, redundancy considerations and vendor
evaluation.
• Developed and applied global QoS policies for VoIP, Video and data traffic for intra and global inter office
communication. QoS queues and thresholds were modified per hardware specifications and limitations to
ensure common packet mapping, thus providing a “known” queue/threshold location for packets. This
design allowed packets to be easily traced within common queues end-to-end and minimizing
troubleshooting times.
• Designed and deployed a redundant global wireless solution utilizing 28 access points with six secured
SSIDs utilizing independent policies and captive portal for security. Wireless access is now centrally
managed, easy to access and fully secure regardless of the user’s location or access privileges.
• Completely revamped an existing multicast deployment that supported 1200+ multicast sources and
receivers which improved performance and resiliency. User experience and network stability
improvements were profound.
• Completed a global route redesign that split the HQ, remote offices and disaster recovery site from one
EIGRP routing domain into seven discreet OSPF routing segments. These changes dramatically improved
network performance and reliability.
• Designed and implemented a double-NAT solution on Cisco ASA5500s allowing quick and seamless
insertion of new firewall rules between multiple 3rd
party financial vendors with independent security
requirements and our firm. Implementation turn-around times were reduced from 1-2 weeks to 1-2 hours.
