• Paper-Make sure you are on the right dot.
• Relax the night before to prepare.

3. The plus/minus strategy
• As you go through the questions the first
time…
– Answer those you know.
– Place a minus sign in front of those seeming
impossible and mark a guessed answer.
– Place a + in front of those you probably can
do, but are time consuming, and mark a
guessed answer.

4. After you have finished responding to all…
• Go back to your + signs.
• See if you can do some of those.
• Or
• Go back and check to make sure your other
work has been done correctly.
• Don’t worry about erasing the + and – signs.

5. Reading Test Tips
• Before you read the passage…
– Read the question.
– Mark any important part of the question.
– Do not read the answers – too time
consuming.
– Feel free to mark the passage.
– Use only information stated or directly
implied in the passage.
– Eliminate wrong responses.

6. Math Test Tips
• Mark key words.
• If letter are challenging, plug in the numbers.
• Work from the answers – Can any be ruled
out?
• Estimate/Approximate to save time.
• Eliminate answers.
• Make comparisons.
• Mark on diagrams.
• Draw diagrams.
• If you are asked for the procedure, do not work
the problem.

8. Essay Writing
• Read the topic twice.
• Prewrite.
• Don’t slow the flow (go back to make
corrections).
• Save time for editing at the end.
• Do not write excessively large.
• Do not leave large margins or skip lines.
• Double check your time, prewriting space, and
writing space.
