About: Founder and facilitator of the Woman’s 14th moon
Purpose of website: “This Ceremony has been held every year since 1987.
Invitations were originally sent by “snail” mail and has evolved to email and Evite.
At this time we would like to develop a website that allows invited people to ac-
cess information and details of an event, a place to post poems, short stories and
other interesting information that relates to the purpose of the Ceremony. This site
will also contain herstorical information regarding the Ceremony and highlights of
each year’s Ceremony.” -Pam Jones

About Kanyon

Kanyon Sayers-Roods is a web and graphic designer
with strengths in front-end web developing. A full
time student dedicated to her work and attaining
her B.S. having already attained her Associates of
Science, majoring in Web Design and Interactive
media throught the Art Institute of CA. Her true
strengths lie in ﬁne arts and hands on artistic medi-
ums. She has a knack for fuzing ideas, themes, spe-
cialties, to ﬁt in any which way possible. Striving to
create through a clients wants and needs, the right
look/feel/essence that they belive she can achieve.
Though she is new to the web developing scene,
she has come to love to develop beautiful, unique,
functional, optimized, user friendly websites. Always
focusing on understanding, meeting the needs of
her clients, and excelling their expectations has
been the core of her success.

Why This?

THE HERSTORY
The Women of the Fourteenth Moon IS a ceremony to empower our elder women and to cel-
ebrate and honor women of all ages and nations. It IS a women’s ceremony. It IS NOT a moon
ceremony, or a Native-American ceremony. It was created in 1987, when three women, a
Cherokee, a Celt and a jew, came together because they wanted to do something to heal
the great fear of aging among women today, particularly in this society.
In these current times when indigenous ceremonies are being usurped and misappropriated, it
is important to have a clear understanding of what the ceremony for Women of the Fourteenth
Moon IS and what it IS NOT. It is also important to know how this ceremony came into being.
Women on all spiritual paths, ages and life experiences are strongly encouraged to participate,
including women who have never been to anything like this before. We welcome you Honor,
Celebrate, Mentor, and Learn for all that is around you.

In the past, for this event to come together with facilitators and participants, ment so much
time and resources to create booklets, mailers, and a great amount of time on the phone.
To have a website were everyone has access, to ﬁnd out details of the ceremony as well as
means of sharing experiences, is progressive.

Objectives:

Design and develop a website for the purpose of educating woman young to
elderly about the Woman’s 14th moon gathering. When people hear about
this event, they will seek it out, by generating a landing page with a tid bit of
information, and offering means of getting in contact with the organizer to
ﬁnd out more information, would be simple enough to shed light on this small
ceremony. A login page with simple security measures for participants, consul-
tants, and new women becoming participants can view more intimate details
about the gathering

Scope of Project

Creating an informational site, that shares enough to the public eye, as well as pro-
vides intimate details for those who know what they are looking for. To share the
history of the Women of the Fourteenth Moon Ceremony. Providing a place where
others can view and share their stories, feelings, details of their experiences at the
Ceremony. Letting the right individuals know where the Ceremonial Gathering will
take place, and how to prepare and be informed.

Integration of Social Media
Feedback implementation like a Contact Form
Interactive Elements where users share experience on the Sharing Page

How it will be created:
By myself, In a timely manner.
Utilizing Dreamweaver with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, brainstorming
on other implimentations.

Analysis What’s Out There
The interesting part of this project proposal is that there isn’t much competition.
There have been other organizations facilitated by women, who coordinate
events and ceremonies, yet the majority of what they share hapen to be event
pages. Websites that originated by DIY’ers, getting quick and easy information
out there, the UI of some of these sites can be rather difﬁcult.

This gathering is just a small glimpse of the networks out there, that women have
gathered and incorporated ceremony,with education and bonding with other
women in order to bring guidance, respect, and even just closure to one another.
By putting this small ceremonial event/gathering on the web, they are providing
valuable information that even if a handful of people get a chance to view it,
they would ﬁnd it well worth it.

Thought Process/ Brainstorming

When discussing what kind of site my client had in mind, she left the design up
to discussion, as well as the content provided.
This was a challenge and a blessing in disguise. She trusts my opinion as an
artist, and as a participant of the Womans 14th Moon Ceremony. I took my lib-
erties in areas I was conﬁdent with, and saught and continue seeking construc-
tive critisizms to ever progress with this design.
