• Pay close attention to the small things.
– As simple as - did they abbreviate the state correctly?
• The top of your resume needs to stand out.
– It’s what draws in the HR/recruiter
• No spelling errors, follow instructions, apply for jobs you’re
qualified for

• Present yourself right! It has to ‘look’ right.
• Everything needs to be clean, neat, and professional
• Hiring manager has 2 questions:
1. Can they do the job, and will they do the job?
2. What is their attitude, motivation, fit?
• Networking is the best way to get a testimonial for a job
• Be professional

In your career path, who has influenced you and been a
mentor?
Jessica
• Early on learned more from bad managers than good
managers.
• Learned what not to do
• 5 years into career applied for job was overqualified for.
Didn’t get the job, but the women that did became a
mentor.
• Someone to listen to and learn from.
JP
• Early on learned from the lousy bosses.
• Supported a lot of managers, and used own background
in business to form a collaborative relationship with them
to understand what they needed.
