1. Confirm objectives are in alignment between manager &employee.
2. Establish clarity around performance & role expectations.
3. Provide & receive feedback.
4. Increase engagement & motivation And also may help prevent some
undesired surprises…

  1. Read the quote in the slide. The 1-1 goes beyond an open door policy. Dedicates time on a regular cadence for teammates and leaders to connect and communicate. Anticipated conversation between a manager and an employee. The 1-1 meeting is a place for coaching, mentorship, giving context, or even venting.
  2. Read the slide and discuss it. Talking about the benefits of you know exactly what you have to do.
  3. 1. You come to the meeting distracted, and without any agenda. 2. You do all the talking - ideally you'll speak 50% max. and < 25% might be even better. 3. You gossip, or allow others to gossip - guide the conversation to remain constructive. 4. The entire meeting focuses on details of project/work - this will happen, but should not be a standard agenda for this type of meeting. 5. Feedback you give is unbalanced, or even more dangerously, is not constructive or actionable.
  4. Read the slide and discuss it. Talking about the benefits of you know exactly what you have to do.
  5. Schedule the meeting in your calendar. Start putting agenda.
