The document discusses EMC's strategy called "FLASH 1st" for data storage over the next decade. It argues that traditional hard disk drives will not be able to keep up with rapidly growing data and increasing IO demands. FLASH/solid state technology on the other hand is improving much faster than HDDs and will provide dramatically better performance and cost efficiency. EMC's FLASH 1st strategy leverages automated tiering software to place active "hot" data on high-performance FLASH storage and less active "cold" data on lower-cost capacity HDDs to maximize benefits.
FLASH 1st - The Storage Strategy for the Next Decade ( EMC World 2012 )EMC
This session discusses the FLASH 1st storage strategy and how FLASH is the first line of defense of a modern, dynamic storage hierarchy. We further explore new FLASH deployment models like host based PCIe FLASH and all FLASH arrays. This session also discusses a business driven sizing model that enables you to quickly and precisely estimate just how much FLASH, 15K HDD and NL HDD is needed for the optimal FLASH 1st strategy.

NoSQL Databases for Implementing Data Services – Should I Care?Guido Schmutz
Traditionally the data services in a service-oriented solution have been/are implemented using relational data technologies. For lot of scenarios, this might be the best choice. On the other hand there are other use cases, where an alternative storage mechanism , such as a NoSQL database, might help to solve the problem more easily or in a more scalable way, i.e. using a different storage model.
Video-rendering performance comparison: Dell Precision T7600 Workstation vs. ...Principled Technologies
When you work with graphics and video day in and day out, choosing the right system is paramount. A system that not only produces top-of-the-line images but also does so quickly and efficiently can shave hours off your day, leaving you more productive and less frustrated with waiting for your system to do its job.
In our tests, the Dell Precision T7600 workstation was able to handle many typical graphics rendering tasks more efficiently than the comparably priced Apple Mac Pro. By being able to complete common tasks up to 28.8 times faster, the Dell Precision T7600 lets you spend more time being creative and less time waiting.

Removing Uninteresting Bytes in Software FuzzingAftab Hussain
Imagine a world where software fuzzing, the process of mutating bytes in test seeds to uncover hidden and erroneous program behaviors, becomes faster and more effective. A lot depends on the initial seeds, which can significantly dictate the trajectory of a fuzzing campaign, particularly in terms of how long it takes to uncover interesting behaviour in your code. We introduce DIAR, a technique designed to speedup fuzzing campaigns by pinpointing and eliminating those uninteresting bytes in the seeds. Picture this: instead of wasting valuable resources on meaningless mutations in large, bloated seeds, DIAR removes the unnecessary bytes, streamlining the entire process.
In this work, we equipped AFL, a popular fuzzer, with DIAR and examined two critical Linux libraries -- Libxml's xmllint, a tool for parsing xml documents, and Binutil's readelf, an essential debugging and security analysis command-line tool used to display detailed information about ELF (Executable and Linkable Format). Our preliminary results show that AFL+DIAR does not only discover new paths more quickly but also achieves higher coverage overall. This work thus showcases how starting with lean and optimized seeds can lead to faster, more comprehensive fuzzing campaigns -- and DIAR helps you find such seeds.

Securing your Kubernetes cluster_ a step-by-step guide to success !KatiaHIMEUR1
Today, after several years of existence, an extremely active community and an ultra-dynamic ecosystem, Kubernetes has established itself as the de facto standard in container orchestration. Thanks to a wide range of managed services, it has never been so easy to set up a ready-to-use Kubernetes cluster.
However, this ease of use means that the subject of security in Kubernetes is often left for later, or even neglected. This exposes companies to significant risks.
In this talk, I'll show you step-by-step how to secure your Kubernetes cluster for greater peace of mind and reliability.
