record 6th title in Benoni
in South Africa.
The final will also be the
third ICC title clash in a
row for the two countries.
Australia had the better of
the senior team in last
year’s World Test Champi-
onship final and the ODI
World Cup final. Indian
fans will hope that the
young guns will make it a
‘third time lucky’forTeam-
India. In fact, Indian juniors
won the last U-19 title clash
between the two sides to lift
the trophy in 2018.Going
by the statistics and perfor-
mances so far in the World
Cup, experts feel India will
hold the edge over their
Australian counterparts in
the final.
The Indian juniors, led
by Uday Saharan, have
showcased remarkable
consistency throughout the
U19 Cricket World Cup.
They are standing on the
brink of emulating the suc-
cess of past champion sides
led by the likes of Moham-
med Kaif, Virat Kohli, Un-
mukt Chand, Prithvi Shaw,
and Yash Dhull. The Sun-
day clash will be India’s
5th successive appearance
in the finals of the U-19
World Cups.
The team’s success is at-
tributed to solid perfor-
mances in all three depart-
ments of the game. The top
and middle-order, featur-
ing Saharan, Musheer
Khan, and Sachin Dhas,
have been instrumental
with the bat. The three bat-
ters are among the top five
run-scorers. Captain Uday
Saharan leads the chart
with 389 runs, followed by
Musheer Khan with 338
and Sachin Dhas with 289
runs. Indian batting has en-
sured that win margins in
the league games have
been huge and the bowlers
have not been put under
too much pressure.
Besides the batting, In-
dian fielding and bowling
have also been shining. In
the field, the team has dis-
played sharp skills, with
Abhishek Murugan the
stand out fielder. India’s
bowlers too, both pacers
and spinners, have been
among the wickets, with
notable contributions from
Raj Limbani, Saumy Pan-
dey and Naman Tiwari.
Saumy is also the third-
highest wicket-taker with
17 scalps while Naman,
the left-arm pacer, has
been impactful with 10
wickets in the tournament.
He cited India’s star and
the number 1 bowler in the
ICC Test rankings, Jasprit
Bumrah, as a source of
special inspiration and
how over the years he has
learnt a great deal watch-
ing Bumrah operate on the
field and by interacting
with him in NCA.
India’s journey to the
final has been marked by
convincing victories. The
team started with an 84-
run win against Bangla-
desh. Subsequent triumphs
against Ireland and hosts
USA showcased their
dominance. In the Super
Six stage, India comforta-
bly defeated New Zealand
and Nepal, setting up a
semi-final clash against
South Africa. India man-
aged to win by 2 wickets to
enter the finals but not
without a close shave. The
Proteas had put up 244 and
at one stage India was tot-
tering at 32 for 4. But the
middle order duo of Saha-
ran and Dhas not only
stitched a 171-run partner-
ship but kept pace with the
required run rate. Ulti-
mately, India reached the
finals winning the game
with 7 balls to spare.
The opponents in the
summit clash,Australia are
also a strong team too and

tory over Pakistan in the

Super Six stage with a no-
table win over England.
The semi-finals proved to
be a nail-biter as Australia
narrowly clinched a one-
wicket victory against Pa-
kistan, securing their spot
in the finals.

t was Centre versus South at Jantar Mantar
on Thursday. Karnataka and Kerala leaders
converged at the protest site in Delhi against
what they termed was discrimination in the devolu-
tion of their share of taxes over the last few years.
Southern states are politically crucial for the BJP
which wants to gain a bigger foothold there. The
north-south samagam (gathering) at Varanasi and the
special focus on the south during the consecration
ceremony at Ayodhya were done to boost BJP’s
chances.
Leading the charge against the Centre, Karnataka
Chief Minister Siddaramiah and his deputy DK Shi-
vakumar alleged that because of unfair tax distribu-
tion Karnataka has lost out on about Rs 1.87 lakh
crore over the last about six years. Finance Minister
Nirmala Sitharaman dismissed the charge as “wrong
and mischievous”. The Chairman of 15th Finance
Commission NK Singh backed Sitharaman. Kerala
and Tamil Nadu governments have similar com-
plaints against the Centre, which points to the shifting
of political discourse from religion to economy.

he conferment of the Bharat Ratna upon for-
mer Prime Minister Chaudhary Charan Sin-
gh by the BJP has sent ripples through the
Opposition’s I.N.D.I.A grouping, particularly in Ut-
tar Pradesh. Jayant Chaudhary, his grandson and the
chief of Rashtriya Lok Dal, openly expressed grati-
tude towards the BJP, signalling a potential shift in
alliances. Significantly, Jayant Chaudhary hinted at
aligning with the BJP for the upcoming Lok Sabha
elections, casting serious doubt on the prospects of
an alliance with the Samajwadi Party and I.N.D.I.A.
Chaudhary Charan Singh, a revered Jat leader
from western Uttar Pradesh, held significant sway in
the agrarian commu-
nity and served as
chief minister of the
state. The decision to
honor him with the
Bharat Ratna not
only acknowledges
his contribution but
also strategically im-
pacts the political
dynamics in the
western UP region.
With Jayant Chaud-
hary acknowledging
the BJP’s gesture and
expressing willing-
ness to explore an al-
liance, the ground
appears to be shifting
beneath the feet of
the Samajwadi Party
and its allies.
The BJP’s move
has effectively dis-
rupted the strategy of
its opponents, potentially altering the electoral scene
in UP where the Samajwadi Party was confident of
Jayant Chaudhary’s support in the Jat belt. With RLD
as an ally, Akhilesh Yadav was hoping to give the
BJP a tough fight in the state. The Samajwadi Party
is now left with only the Congress, which is a weak
player. As alliances take shape and political strategies
evolve the conferment of the Bharat Ratna emerges

The lost decade led to lost opportunities. The country,

about UPA’s short-sightedness and misgovernance

A day after the govern-
ment presented a ‘white
paper’ on the Indian
economy in both the
Houses of Parliament,
Finance Minister Nirma-
la Sitharaman on Friday
took a swipe on the Con-
gress saying that they
kept the ‘First Family’
first while being in the
government for 10 years.
Ten years of one gov-
ernment with some crisis

government with a differ-
ent crisis. The comparison

siderations than transpar-

said in her opening re-
marks during the discus-
sion on the white paper.
The ‘white paper’ on
theIndianeconomyclaims
that the UPA government
led by Dr Manmohan Sin-
gh inherited a healthy
economy ready for more
reforms but made it non-
performing in 10 years. It
states that double-digit in-
flation prevailed during
the UPA government and
the country’s banking sec-
tor struggled.
The paper also high-
lights the ‘scams’ in the
UPA government and al-
leges that the UPA gov-
ernment in its quest to
maintain high economic
growth severely under-
mined the macroeco-
nomic foundations.
Speaking in the Lower
House, Sitharaman said
that the white paper has
been laid on the table by
a government after 10 full
years of pulling out an
Indian economy which
was in a state of Fragile
Five to reach the stage of
top five economy and on
the verge of reaching top
three position.

Special Assistants to
ministers had off late be-
come a major ‘challenge’
in the bureaucratic struc-
tures owing to their prox-
imity to ministers. Due to
their ability to reach the
minister any time and af-
fect the decision making
process, they had become
an extra-constitutional
power centre. This had
marred the performance
of previous governments
which were riddled with
bureaucratic tussles and
thus, this time around, by
taking a clue and lesson
from the style and func-
tioning of Prime Minister
Narendra Modi’s givern-
ance at the centre, the
Rajasthan Chief Minister
has undertaken a first of
its kind step to bring such
officers as Special Assis-
tants to ministers whose
work is transparent and
whose integrity, is un-
questionable.
DoP’s order appoint-
ing Special Assistants to
ministers has surprised
everyone. SAs have been
appointed at a total of
sixteen ministers but no
minister has been given a
SA of their desire or
choice and the appointed
SAs are new and un-
known to the ministers.
Under the supervision of
CM Bhajan Lal Sharma,
a new formula has been
adopted in appointing SA
to ministers. On the pat-
tern of Delhi, the ap-
pointments here have
been done on the basis of
merit and selection has
been done after inter-
view. In the first list is-
sued on February 2 ap-
pointments were done for
7 ministers and on Fri-
day, SAs were appointed
to 16 ministers only after
complete interview of
candidates. At the insist-
ence of the Chief Minis-
ter, the interview of the
16 SAs were done by
Chief Secretary Sud-
hansh Pant and Principal
Secretary DoP Hemant
Gera at Secretariat and
all these officials were
called to Jaipur.
According to sources,
every candidate was asked
the details of their tenure
during the interview like
whereallhavetheyserved,
under which Collector
havetheyservedandwhich
important responsibility
have they executed. Apart
from interview, the DoP
also conducted a detailed
‘homework’ontheseoffic-
ers. Interestingly, apart
from one or two officers,
all these RAS have been
givenapostinginJaipurfor
thefirsttimeorhaveserved
here for a short term.
Om Prakash-V, Rakesh
Kumar, Sanjay Kumar,
Shailesh Surana, Kalu-
ram Khod, Rajendra Ku-
mar Danga, Rohit Kumar
and Chandan Dubey have
been given posting as SA
to ministers for the first
time. In their entire ser-
vice, Suraj Singh Negi
has served in Jaipur for
merely four days, Rajpal
Singh for five months,
Rajendra Agrawal for
seven months and Murari
lal Sharma for twenty
months. Notably, apart
from 3 RAS, none of
them are natives of Jaipur.
Several of these offic-
ers have been posted in
their home districts or di-
visions. For example
Shailesh Surana, Rohit
Kumar, Rajendra Danga,
Rajpal Singh and Sanjay
Kumar have been shifted
out of their home districts
after a long time. These
include RAS from 2006
batch and new RAS of
2015 batch too. 1998
batch RAS - Jai Narayan
Meena - who has been
appointedasSAtoMadan
Dilawar is the seniormost
among these officials.
Chandan Dubey of Jaipur
has returned to Jaipur
again after 2008 when he
served as tehsildar here.
Word is that during the
interview, a few RAS
were not accepting com-
ing to Jaipur but CS Sud-
hansh Pant clearly told
them that they are from
state service and thus the
state government can ap-
point them anywhere. CS
also said that none of the
officerwillgetrecommen-
dations done or mount
pressure to get their trans-
fer done. CS also made it
clear that every official
will have to work with ut-
most honesty and trans-
parency for 16-17 hours.

Bear Necessities: The first commercially pro-
duced teddy bear by the Ideal Toy Company in
1903 had jointed limbs and beady eyes, quite
different from the plush and cuddly teddy
bears we know today.
 Record-Setting Bear: The world's largest
teddy bear, according to the Guinness World
Records, measured a whopping 63 feet. Built
by Joy and Pedro Aguirre in Mexico in 2019,
this colossal bear outshines the standard-
sized teddies by quite a margin.
 Bear-y Famous Bears: Iconic bears in popular
culture include Winnie the Pooh, Paddington
Bear, and the Care Bears. These characters have
left an indelible mark on generations, making
teddy bears more than just playthings.
 Bear-y Expressive: Teddy bears come in
various colours, each symbolizing different
emotions. White teddy bears represent pu-
rity and innocence, while red ones convey
love and passion. Brown teddies are associ-
ated with strength and stability.
 Teddy Bear Hospital: Some
hospitals worldwide have
a teddy bear hospital
where children can bring
their ailing teddy bears for
a check-up. This endearing
concept aims to alleviate
children's fears about visiting
the doctor.
FUN FACTS
CUDDLING UP TO TRADITIONS
 Bear Exchange: On Teddy Day, couples
exchange teddy bears, each carrying a
unique message of love. Some bears come
with adorable accessories like heart-shaped
cushions or personalized tags.
 Teddy Bear Picnic: Celebrate Teddy Day by
organizing a teddy bear picnic. Pack some
goodies, bring along your teddy bears, and
enjoy a cosy day outdoors. It's a whimsical
way to relive childhood memories.
 DIY Teddy: Handcrafted teddy bears carry a
special charm. Consider making a DIY
teddy bear as a gift for your
significant other. It adds
a personal touch and
showcases the ef-
fort you put into
creating some-
thing special.
 Teddy Bear-
themed Date:
Plan a romantic
date centred
around teddy bears.
This could include
watching a teddy bear-themed movie,
enjoying a teddy bear-shaped cake, or even
visiting a teddy bear museum if available.
 Teddy Bear Adoption Drive: Embrace the
spirit of philanthropy by organizing a Teddy
Bear Adoption Drive. Encourage people to
donate teddy bears, and then distribute
them to children in need. It’s a heartwarm-
ing way to spread love and joy beyond the
romantic realm.
 Virtual Teddy Bear Exchange: In the digital
age, couples separated by distance can still
celebrate Teddy Day. Arrange a virtual teddy
bear exchange by sending cute teddy bear
emojis or virtual gifts with heartfelt mes-
sages. It’s a modern twist to the traditional
celebration, keeping the warmth alive
through screens.
As Valentine's Week
unfolds its romantic
chapters, Happy Teddy
Day emerges as a
delightful celebration,
adding a cuddly and
adorable touch to the
season of love. This day,
observed on February 4th
every year, is cherished by
couples worldwide as
they exchange fluffy
teddy bears as tokens of
affection. But how did this
charming tradition begin,
and what makes it such a
heartwarming part of
Valentine's Week?
he history of
Teddy Day
dates back to
the early
20th centu-
ry, with a
story that intertwines love,
politics, and a touch of ser-
endipity. The tale begins
with the 26th President of
the United States, Theodore
Teddy Roosevelt. In 1902,
President Roosevelt em-
barked on a bear-hunting
trip in Mississippi. After
several days of hunting,
Roosevelt's party hadn't
spotted a single bear, leav-
ing the President frustrated.
To salvage the situation,
Roosevelt's assistants cor-
nered and tied a small black
bear to a tree, suggesting that
the President shoot it. How-
ever, Roosevelt, known for
his love of fair play, refused
to harm the defenceless bear.
The incident captured the na-
tion's imagination, and a po-
litical cartoon by Clifford
Berryman immortalized the
moment,depictingRoosevelt
with the bear.
Inspired by this cartoon, a
Brooklyn-based Russian im-
migrant couple, Morris and
Rose Michtom, decided to
create a stuffed bear and
name it Teddy's Bear. The
toy became an instant sensa-
tion, and the Michtoms went
on to found the Ideal Toy
Company. The teddy bear
craze quickly spread glob-
ally, capturing the hearts of
children and adults alike.
WHY TEDDY BEARS
FOR LOVE?
The teddy bear's association
with love and romance
stems from its inherent
qualities. These fluffy com-
panions exude comfort,
warmth, and a sense of se-
curity. Gifting a teddy bear
on Happy Teddy Day sym-
bolizes a desire to provide
the same love, solace, and
companionship as these
adorable creatures.

that he initially hesi-
tated to lend his voice
to My Adventures of
Superman. The Hun-
ger Games actor was
dubbed for the charac-
ter of Clark Kent.
When asked about it,
Quaid said that the
image of Superman is
quite different from
how he looks. Quaid
remembered his audi-
tion days and revealed
to People Magazine,
I remember getting

first thought was sar-
castically like, 'Oh

spin on it has just been
such an immense hon-
our that I never
thought I would ever

BIG VISION,
CHALLENGES
hen Aditya Dhar and
Vicky Kaushal set the
stage on fire with the
announcement of their
magnum opus, The Immortal
Ashwatthama, Bollywood en-
thusiasts couldn't contain their
excitement. However, dreams
were dashed when the film mys-
teriously hit pause, leaving fans
in the lurch. The reason, as re-
vealed by Dhar, was as grand as
the project itself – the budget was
soaring into the stratosphere,
making it too colossal for the cur-
rent Indian cinema landscape.
Speaking candidly at the trailer
launch of his upcoming produc-
tion, Article 370, Dhar spilt the
tea on the deferred epic. We have
put that on the back burner right
now,heconfessed.Thevisionary
filmmaker admitted that the pro-
ject's scale was a bit too audacious
for the Indian film industry at the
moment. The kind of VFX qual-
ity we were looking at, nobody
has even strived for it here, he
revealed with a hint of regret.
Dhar drew parallels with Hol-
lywood maestro James Cameron,
citing the lengthy wait for Cam-
eron's ambitious projects. He
stressed that, until technological
advancements become more af-
fordable or the market expands
exponentially, resurrecting The
ImmortalAshwatthama remains
a distant dream.
In a nutshell, it seems the cin-
ematic marvel will continue to
simmer on the back burner, wait-
ing for the perfect blend of tech-
nology and market readiness to
bring this colossal vision to life.
Until then, fans might have to
console themselves with the an-
ticipation of other cinematic treats
on the horizon. The epic awaits its
turn in the grand Bollywood feast.

  • 4. t’s another opportunity for the Indi- an team to beatAustral- ia in a World Cup final! India U-19 boys have set up a World Cup title clash with the junior boys from Down Under which seems a repeat of the recent ODI World Cup final between the senior sides. Indian youngsters have performed exceedingly well all through the competition and have not lost a single game in their march to the final. Also, the top 3 run scorers of the champion- ship are Indian batters who have been excellent in high-pressure situations. Now, the final hurdle re- mains on Sunday when the Indian boys will push for a record 6th title in Benoni in South Africa. The final will also be the third ICC title clash in a row for the two countries. Australia had the better of the senior team in last year’s World Test Champi- onship final and the ODI World Cup final. Indian fans will hope that the young guns will make it a ‘third time lucky’forTeam- India. In fact, Indian juniors won the last U-19 title clash between the two sides to lift the trophy in 2018.Going by the statistics and perfor- mances so far in the World Cup, experts feel India will hold the edge over their Australian counterparts in the final. The Indian juniors, led by Uday Saharan, have showcased remarkable consistency throughout the U19 Cricket World Cup. They are standing on the brink of emulating the suc- cess of past champion sides led by the likes of Moham- med Kaif, Virat Kohli, Un- mukt Chand, Prithvi Shaw, and Yash Dhull. The Sun- day clash will be India’s 5th successive appearance in the finals of the U-19 World Cups. The team’s success is at- tributed to solid perfor- mances in all three depart- ments of the game. The top and middle-order, featur- ing Saharan, Musheer Khan, and Sachin Dhas, have been instrumental with the bat. The three bat- ters are among the top five run-scorers. Captain Uday Saharan leads the chart with 389 runs, followed by Musheer Khan with 338 and Sachin Dhas with 289 runs. Indian batting has en- sured that win margins in the league games have been huge and the bowlers have not been put under too much pressure. Besides the batting, In- dian fielding and bowling have also been shining. In the field, the team has dis- played sharp skills, with Abhishek Murugan the stand out fielder. India’s bowlers too, both pacers and spinners, have been among the wickets, with notable contributions from Raj Limbani, Saumy Pan- dey and Naman Tiwari. Saumy is also the third- highest wicket-taker with 17 scalps while Naman, the left-arm pacer, has been impactful with 10 wickets in the tournament. He cited India’s star and the number 1 bowler in the ICC Test rankings, Jasprit Bumrah, as a source of special inspiration and how over the years he has learnt a great deal watch- ing Bumrah operate on the field and by interacting with him in NCA. India’s journey to the final has been marked by convincing victories. The team started with an 84- run win against Bangla- desh. Subsequent triumphs against Ireland and hosts USA showcased their dominance. In the Super Six stage, India comforta- bly defeated New Zealand and Nepal, setting up a semi-final clash against South Africa. India man- aged to win by 2 wickets to enter the finals but not without a close shave. The Proteas had put up 244 and at one stage India was tot- tering at 32 for 4. But the middle order duo of Saha- ran and Dhas not only stitched a 171-run partner- ship but kept pace with the required run rate. Their success continued in the Super Six stage with a no- table win over England. The semi-finals proved to be a nail-biter as Australia narrowly clinched a one- wicket victory against Pa- kistan, securing their spot in the finals. A potential face-off be- tween India and Pakistan in the championship match would have added to the historic rivalry, recalling their only previous U19 World Cup final clash in 2006, where Sarfaraz Ahmed led Pakistan to vic- tory against a team featur- ing future stars like Rohit Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja. Karnataka and Kerala leaders converged at the protest site in Delhi against what they termed was discrimination in the devolu- tion of their share of taxes over the last few years. Southern states are politically crucial for the BJP which wants to gain a bigger foothold there. The north-south samagam (gathering) at Varanasi and the special focus on the south during the consecration ceremony at Ayodhya were done to boost BJP’s chances. Leading the charge against the Centre, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramiah and his deputy DK Shi- vakumar alleged that because of unfair tax distribu- tion Karnataka has lost out on about Rs 1.87 lakh crore over the last about six years. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman dismissed the charge as “wrong and mischievous”. The Chairman of 15th Finance Commission NK Singh backed Sitharaman. Kerala and Tamil Nadu governments have similar com- plaints against the Centre, which points to the shifting of political discourse from religion to economy. I he conferment of the Bharat Ratna upon for- mer Prime Minister Chaudhary Charan Sin- gh by the BJP has sent ripples through the Opposition’s I.N.D.I.A grouping, particularly in Ut- tar Pradesh. Jayant Chaudhary, his grandson and the chief of Rashtriya Lok Dal, openly expressed grati- tude towards the BJP, signalling a potential shift in alliances. Significantly, Jayant Chaudhary hinted at aligning with the BJP for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, casting serious doubt on the prospects of an alliance with the Samajwadi Party and I.N.D.I.A. Chaudhary Charan Singh, a revered Jat leader from western Uttar Pradesh, held significant sway in the agrarian commu- nity and served as chief minister of the state. The decision to honor him with the Bharat Ratna not only acknowledges his contribution but also strategically im- pacts the political dynamics in the western UP region. With Jayant Chaud- hary acknowledging the BJP’s gesture and expressing willing- ness to explore an al- liance, the ground appears to be shifting beneath the feet of the Samajwadi Party and its allies. The BJP’s move has effectively dis- rupted the strategy of its opponents, potentially altering the electoral scene in UP where the Samajwadi Party was confident of Jayant Chaudhary’s support in the Jat belt. With RLD as an ally, Akhilesh Yadav was hoping to give the BJP a tough fight in the state. The Samajwadi Party is now left with only the Congress, which is a weak player. As alliances take shape and political strategies evolve the conferment of the Bharat Ratna emerges as a deft maneuver with far-reaching implications for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls and the Opposition. The ‘white paper’ on theIndianeconomyclaims that the UPA government led by Dr Manmohan Sin- gh inherited a healthy economy ready for more reforms but made it non- performing in 10 years. It states that double-digit in- flation prevailed during the UPA government and the country’s banking sec- tor struggled. The paper also high- lights the ‘scams’ in the UPA government and al- leges that the UPA gov- ernment in its quest to maintain high economic growth severely under- mined the macroeco- nomic foundations. Speaking in the Lower House, Sitharaman said that the white paper has been laid on the table by a government after 10 full years of pulling out an Indian economy which was in a state of Fragile Five to reach the stage of top five economy and on the verge of reaching top three position. Rajgovtappoints‘testedandinterviewed’officialsasSAtoministers! Rajendra Chhabra Jaipur Special Assistants to ministers had off late be- come a major ‘challenge’ in the bureaucratic struc- tures owing to their prox- imity to ministers. Due to their ability to reach the minister any time and af- fect the decision making process, they had become an extra-constitutional power centre. This had marred the performance of previous governments which were riddled with bureaucratic tussles and thus, this time around, by taking a clue and lesson from the style and func- tioning of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s givern- ance at the centre, the Rajasthan Chief Minister has undertaken a first of its kind step to bring such officers as Special Assis- tants to ministers whose work is transparent and whose integrity, is un- questionable. DoP’s order appoint- ing Special Assistants to ministers has surprised everyone. SAs have been appointed at a total of sixteen ministers but no minister has been given a SA of their desire or choice and the appointed SAs are new and un- known to the ministers. Under the supervision of CM Bhajan Lal Sharma, a new formula has been adopted in appointing SA to ministers. On the pat- tern of Delhi, the ap- pointments here have been done on the basis of merit and selection has been done after inter- view. In the first list is- sued on February 2 ap- pointments were done for 7 ministers and on Fri- day, SAs were appointed to 16 ministers only after complete interview of candidates. At the insist- ence of the Chief Minis- ter, the interview of the 16 SAs were done by Chief Secretary Sud- hansh Pant and Principal Secretary DoP Hemant Gera at Secretariat and all these officials were called to Jaipur. According to sources, every candidate was asked the details of their tenure during the interview like whereallhavetheyserved, under which Collector havetheyservedandwhich important responsibility have they executed. Apart from interview, the DoP also conducted a detailed ‘homework’ontheseoffic- ers. Interestingly, apart from one or two officers, all these RAS have been givenapostinginJaipurfor thefirsttimeorhaveserved here for a short term. Om Prakash-V, Rakesh Kumar, Sanjay Kumar, Shailesh Surana, Kalu- ram Khod, Rajendra Ku- mar Danga, Rohit Kumar and Chandan Dubey have been given posting as SA to ministers for the first time. In their entire ser- vice, Suraj Singh Negi has served in Jaipur for merely four days, Rajpal Singh for five months, Rajendra Agrawal for seven months and Murari lal Sharma for twenty months. Notably, apart from 3 RAS, none of them are natives of Jaipur. Several of these offic- ers have been posted in their home districts or di- visions. For example Shailesh Surana, Rohit Kumar, Rajendra Danga, Rajpal Singh and Sanjay Kumar have been shifted out of their home districts after a long time. These include RAS from 2006 batch and new RAS of 2015 batch too. 1998 batch RAS - Jai Narayan Meena - who has been appointedasSAtoMadan Dilawar is the seniormost among these officials. Chandan Dubey of Jaipur has returned to Jaipur again after 2008 when he served as tehsildar here. Word is that during the interview, a few RAS were not accepting com- ing to Jaipur but CS Sud- hansh Pant clearly told them that they are from state service and thus the state government can ap- point them anywhere. CS also said that none of the officerwillgetrecommen- dations done or mount pressure to get their trans- fer done. CS also made it clear that every official will have to work with ut- most honesty and trans- parency for 16-17 hours. This day, observed on February 4th every year, is cherished by couples worldwide as they exchange fluffy teddy bears as tokens of affection. But how did this charming tradition begin, and what makes it such a heartwarming part of Valentine's Week? he history of Teddy Day dates back to the early 20th centu- ry, with a story that intertwines love, politics, and a touch of ser- endipity. The tale begins with the 26th President of the United States, Theodore Teddy Roosevelt. In 1902, President Roosevelt em- barked on a bear-hunting trip in Mississippi. After several days of hunting, Roosevelt's party hadn't spotted a single bear, leav- ing the President frustrated. To salvage the situation, Roosevelt's assistants cor- nered and tied a small black bear to a tree, suggesting that the President shoot it. How- ever, Roosevelt, known for his love of fair play, refused to harm the defenceless bear. The incident captured the na- tion's imagination, and a po- litical cartoon by Clifford Berryman immortalized the moment, depictingRoosevelt with the bear. Inspired by this cartoon, a Brooklyn-based Russian im- migrant couple, Morris and Rose Michtom, decided to create a stuffed bear and name it Teddy's Bear. The toy became an instant sensa- tion, and the Michtoms went on to found the Ideal Toy Company. The teddy bear craze quickly spread glob- ally, capturing the hearts of children and adults alike. WHY TEDDY BEARS FOR LOVE? The teddy bear's association with love and romance stems from its inherent qualities. These fluffy com- panions exude comfort, warmth, and a sense of se- curity. Gifting a teddy bear on Happy Teddy Day sym- bolizes a desire to provide the same love, solace, and companionship as these adorable creatures. Mohit Choudhary cityfirst@firstindia.co.in T LOVE AND HUGS Happy Teddy Day is more than just a celebration of plush toys; it’s a manifestation of the enduring connection between love and these cuddly companions.
