2. The genres I am interested in creating are:
• Psychological Thriller
• Horror
• Comedy
• Drama
I am most interested in creating a thriller or drama because I think that it will be easier to put
the storyline across with sound effects and dark lighting. I want to create a heart warming
sweet film that makes people happy because I think the majority of people will be creating a
horror film, however creating a drama may possibly be harder to get the storyline across and
have the correct sound effects. My initial reaction is worry because I do not know who will act
in my film because my friends and family are not comfortable in front of the camera. My thriller
idea will be easier to film because it only requires two people to be in the video, however the
drama film requires a family.
3. Drama
A short story about a lonely old
man that has just lost his wife.
He looks at different reminders of
her all day and feels upset until
his family come round and
surprise him for Christmas with
lots of presents and love. There
will be one special present that
will a symbol of his wife.
From either a grand
daughters perspective of
witnessing her upset
Grandad or jus from her
Grandads perspective.
Present ideas:
- Dating subscription
- An animal ( rabbit to
keep him company)
“That wasn’t
supposed to happen”
whilst looking at
photo of wife
He will be sat in
living room on his
chair watching time
go by, all you can
hear is the ticking.
From my perspective
witnessing him always sat
daydreaming and looking at
photographs of her as well as
sat in chair by himself with
lots of space, watching the
time. I want to help him so I
come round on Christmas
day with all the family with
presents, turkey, Christmas
hats and a special present for
him.
Adapt story to where a teenage girl feels lonely
at Christmas because she has no friends. She
sees lots of people having fun with their friends
and gets upset. Her family sees so she gets a
special present of a rabbit to keep her company.
4. Drama
A self conscious teenage girl is
suffering from anorexia. She
looks in the mirror at herself and
the mirror becomes distorted
and makes her look larger.
Include a canted angle because
she stops eating and drinking so
she becomes faint. She takes
tablets she has bought online to
make her lose weight fast.
Goes to therapy and gets help.
Can be set around college where she
doesn't’t eat anything at lunch and she is
sat by herself with no one to help. Also set
at home where she doesn't’t eat anything
and hates her appearance in the mirror.
Clock where she is
stood outside of support
centre but is too scared
to go in.
“That wasn’t supposed to happen” when
she takes a bite of an apple because she
is so hungry but regrets it. Or she faints
someone comes over to help and whilst
she is lying on floor.
Resolution of her finally getting help for
her eating disorder.
5. Thriller
Girl feels like she is constantly being
followed: she never feels alone.
There are always strange noises and
weird shadowed figures. It ends with
her at therapy for schizophrenia.
The clock ticking is irritating her and
sending her insane. She sees
different people and faces in the
mirror but they quickly change back
to her face. Canted angle as she
begins to feel faint.
“That wasn’t supposed to
happen” when the therapist
hands her a leaflet on
schizophrenia. Weird things keep happening. She goes
outside to bring in the clothes when it is
raining and gets locked out. Faces appear in
the mirror. Hangs up her jacket and it goes
missing. Walking home and sees a figure
following her. Footsteps running and getting
louder. She is asleep and wakes up with
figure standing over her.
Teenage girl acting in it at
college and at home.

8. Is there any repetition in the images you have collected?
Repeated colours/images styles/fonts/tone/mood
Thriller: All images are dark with only black and purple which connotes to death or danger.
The shots are mainly long shots or close ups to highlight the fear in the character. The
tone and mood is very mysterious.
Drama: The colours are brighter with more colour because they are set at Christmas time.
The tone and mood is light hearted and happy. There is a repetition of the colours red,
green and gold because they are traditional Christmas colours.
How will your mood board influence your final product?
Thriller: I will make the lighting in my final product dark with little colour so it creates a
spooky feel that worries the viewer because we do not know what is hiding in the
shadows.
Drama: When making the final product, I will incorporate the traditional Christmas colours
to represent the family coming together with lots of happiness. I will make the beginning
of the film dull with little colour so it highlights the bright colour later on in the film.
