CALL refers to computer-assisted language learning. It is the search for and study of computer applications in language teaching and learning. CALL involves using computers for instructional purposes and is an interdisciplinary field that can be applied in different educational areas. It has become possible in the last 30 years as computers have gotten smaller, faster and easier for non-specialists to use. However, the rapid introduction of new educational technologies has sometimes outpaced teachers' ability to properly evaluate them. It is important that educators stay aware of technological developments and develop mechanisms for effectively integrating new technologies.
