our lesson. Greet them, please. How are you? Are you in a good mood?
Are you ready to start our work? The topic of our lesson is “We are going to
travel”. The motto is “The world is a book, those who don’t travel, read only a
page”. Let’s read it together.
Tell me, please, do you like travelling? As for me, I adore travelling. How can we
travel? I have some pictures with different kinds of travelling. Look, answer the
question and put the picture on the blackboard.
Ps: We can travel by car (plane, bus, bike, ship, boat, train, on foot, on horseback).

We go by train,
We go by boat,
We go by plane,
We go on land
And sea, and air,
We go, go, go…
Everywhere!!!
II. Main part
1. Reading. Work in groups
Let’s work in groups. The names of your teams are “Pilots”, “Captains” and
“Engine drivers”. I’ll give you a card with the text. Read it attentively, discuss and
say what kind of travelling it is. Use the phrases We think, In our opinion, We
guess.
1. It is the fastest way of travelling. It can take you from one town or city to the
other one in no time. The seats are comfortable. That's a pity but sometimes you
can see very little from the windows. The things are too small to see them. When
the weather is rainy or foggy you can't travel by it.
2. This is the slowest way of travelling. Both young and old people like it. You
needn't worry about the tickets. The only thing you need is a rucksack. You can
visit many places in such a way.
3. This way of travelling is fast. The carriages are comfortable. It is so pleasant to
travel in them. You can see a lot of interesting things from the carriage windows.
You can make a long journey on land by it.
Ps: 1. We think it is travelling by plane.
2. In our opinion it is travelling on foot.
3. We guess it is travelling by train.
T: You are right. I have an additional text for all teams. Who will be the first to
answer?
4. This way of travelling is fast. You can stop at any place you like and go where
you like. You need no tickets. Usually families travel by it.
Ps: We think it is travelling by car.
T: Good work. Now imagine, please, we are at the railway station. We can see a
train that goes past our station. Let’s sing a song “Down by the station”. Stand up,
please.
Down by the station
Down by the station, early in the morning
See the little puffy bellies all in a row.
See the engine driver pull the little handle.
“Chug, chug! Toot, toot!” Off we go!
2. Vocabulary revision. Team work

minutes to do it. (A lovely quiet music plays.)
