Idea generation and
idea selection

2. ASSIGNMENT 02:
Idea generation
Design Thinking Action Lab
Challenge: redesign the school-to-work transition
Educators need a way to communicate with
companies (to inmerse work into studies)
because students need real practise)
Job fairs
School visits
School conferences
Mentoring
Final grade project
Crowdsourcing sites
Coaching
Meetups
Networking activities
Social media business
platform (LinkedIn)
Internships programs
Workshops
Contests
A transition to work festival
with activities and guests
Have real employers at class
to provide feedback and
adapt classes
Social media platform to
connect students-teachers-
employers
Meetups between students-
teachers-employers
Internships programs at the
companies for teachers to
improve the system
considering companies
requests for graduates.
The teacher accompanies
the student to the internship
and observe and see how
the student develops
A ‘work camp’ where
students combine free time
with real challenges at work
A final project: students
choose a theme and develop
it in 3 different companies,
comparing them, getting
conclusions and gaining
confidence
A final prom travel where
students need to solve a
problem on the destination
they go – there´s a deadline
Have a subject
called´transition to
work’: tips, coaching,
employers advice…
A site where students submit
solutions to real company
problems listed on the site.
Teachers guide students.
Employers and teachers
evaluate the result. Good
work > paid
Workshops chaired by
employers at the school
Contest at school based on a
real company problem, offer
an alternative of how the
company resolved it.
Remmunerated.
During last year, teacher
gives the class at a company
and ask students for
practical assignments related
with their environment on the
company
Every subject will have
theory (by teacher) and
practise (by employer)
Educators and employers
design the educational
program together
Have a personal coach and a professional mentor
per student during the first 3 years of the career
The last year of the degree
the students will go to uni
and they will have
recreations of different types
of offices, facing real
problems, budgets, 8
hours… (teachers support)
*UNLIMITED BUDGET
*OBVIOUS IDEAS *ADD, REMOVE OR MODIFY OBVIOUS IDEAS *5YEAR-OLD suggestions
Play a game where one
student acts as employer
and another student acts as
employee, play possible
situations, and the other way
around
Educators and employers
make together a mural of
their ideal student/employee
together and analyse what´s
necessary to get it.
Educators and
employers apply the
design thinking
process to improve the
transition to work
*NO MONEY
Each student will be the coach of another student.
They´ll need to follow a program created by
educators/employers/coachs
*CONTROL OVER LAWS OF NATURE
Students would jump to the
future and see themselves
and learn what they will learn
after years of experience in
just some days.
3. ASSIGNMENT 02:
Idea selection
Design Thinking Action Lab
Challenge: redesign the school-to-work transition
The most practical idea:
internships programs for
teachers
Teachers will be up to date
on the problems that
companies face everyday.
The will observe, analyse
and interview people to get
ideas to improve the
educational program to be
more inline with the
companies and students
interests.
They will also be there when
the students start their own
internships to observe and
improve the transition in
collaboration with employers
The most disruptive idea: a
crowdsourcing platform
where students, teachers
and companies collaborate
together.
On the platform each person will have
a profile and a role (teacher, student,
employer).
Employers will be able to list real
companies problems and students will
choose a problem they want to solve
(depending on the company type, the
location and many other factors.)
Teachers will guide students on the
process and students can ask for
advice to professionals with
experience (mentors).
Employers and teachers evaluate the
result.
The best work gets paid and others
that follow certain requirements will
have other compensations.
My favorite idea: a free one!
A coaching program for
students to support each
other
Who better to understand your
problems than a person who is going
through the same kind of issues?
Each student will be the coach of
another student and the other way
around.
They´ll need to follow a´manual’
created by educators in collaboration
with employers and coachs. Students
will have the support of the three types
of professionals during the process.
