2. What is a computer?
A computer is an electronic device with
attachments that are necessary in order for
the computer to perform properly. These
attachments are mainly external
components of computers that fall under
the category known as hardware.
3. These are the main parts of a computer
:
Mouse
It has right and left button for making selections in the
screen. For users, they mostly use the left button for
selecting but for more options, the right button is
used. It can be readily used with connecting cords or
with the use of Bluetooth.
4. Keyboard
It is used for typing data, generating commands. It has a
similar layout to a typewriter with additional keys for
other helpful functions.
Monitor
It is the visual component of the computer wherein it
displays information to the user. This component is a
required part of the computer. It also requires electricity
to function and to have its own power cord to plug into
an outlet.
5. Speaker
The speakers are the audio component of the computer.
Computer System Unit
The system box holds the central processing unit to act
as the brain of the computers. The unit contains the
motherboard which is the main circuitry of the system.
The power supply for the main computer is located in
the unit.
6. Printer
It is used to develop a hard copy or paper copy of a
document or picture. The printer connects to the
computer and requires the use of its own power cord.
Compact Disk (CD)
This device is used for storage. Some of it holds
information to be loaded into a computer. It depends on
what type of CD it is.
7. Thumb Drive
It is a portable storage device. It is being used to
transfer information from a computer to another
system. They are also known as flash drives.
